IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Expedite Approved	I requested with the USCIS for our case to be expedited because of financial hardship. I received confirmation last night that they have approved my request. The email states as follows... Good Afternoon, I have received your fax. Expedited handling of your case has been approved. Your file is being pulled for adjudication. Sincerely, Muhammad Arshad Immigration Services Officer DHS-USCIS DIVXII - CSC Laguna Niguel, CA My question is... Has any received a similar message in response to an expedite request? And how long from that message until I can expect an actual approval? We moved on over to Skype because it keeps ALL the records. Plus I have the app on my Blackberry phone so we can chat all day everyday... not just when I'm at home since work has FB blocked. I personally am going to take extra copies of everything just to avoid hassles at the interview. I would hate for something to have become separated from my petition and not make it to the consulate. I requested 3 years just in case they asked for them. But according to what I read I should only need the most recent one. I requested an expedite at CSC and the next day I received an email from the adjucator requesting that I fax a brief letter explaining why the request was being made and a few pics of our most recent time together. I sent those over within an hour and a few hours later he emailed me back and said he approved the expedite request and should have an approval in 1-5 days! I thought it was really cool because once the expedite was approved that same adjucator processed the rest of my case and sent all personal emails to me. When he approved my case he sent another personal email giving me advanced notice that the case was officially approved. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	I-130 approved	Typically medical assistance is not considered as one of the types of assistance that would disqualify you from sponsoring your husband. Food stamps, child care assistance, public housing etc. would all be types of assistance that they would not want to see you receiving. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	AOS NVC Tax say single	I filed my taxes as single as we didn't get married until Feb 6 2011. When filing taxes you are reporting information for the previous year.. In this case 2010. If you didn't get married until early 2011 then single status is correct for 2010! IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Marrying Overseas	From what I understand after going through this process is that a marriage performed in another country is valid in the US as long as it does not violate any US laws (Ex.. marrying more than one person or something). I was married in the Republic of Georgia and we had to have our marriage license notorized/recorded, apostilled, translated, and notorized again. You do NOT have to register the marriage in the state/city/county that you live in when you return to the US. The Netherlands, including Aruba, Curacao, Holland, and Netherland Antilles are all part of the Hague Convention. The Hague Convention is a treaty that allows other countries to "Apostille" the documents... essentially verifying the authenticity and certifying them as true and valid. Specifically on 7/8 and 7/11 there were a TON of them. Yesterday it looks like a few July 8th approvals received their NVC case #'s! I am expecting to receive my case # at NVC sometime next week. Did you give them your email addresses? Once you give them the email addresses they will start sending everything by email which will save some time. I know our experience in ohio they would issue a license for my wife for only the proof of time she was able to stay in the country. On a CR1 they gave her a 2 year license. When she got a letter extending her CR while she applied for removal they would only renew for one year based on the letter. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Becoming Hopeless	It has been awhile since my constant interaction with NVC, but I imagine the system is still designed for quantity information on the phone, a info mill. Because of the need for consistent and lots of answers, the operators are made to answer any questions with stock responses that to them answer the question, but to the caller seem almost ridiculous. I was sick and tired of hearing "wait 6 weeks for an answer and then if you don't hear anything call back anytime" 6 weeks or 30 days wait seemed to be the only answer they would give. They would often read answers that matched the online FAQ which sure was something I combed through. Do they think I really wanted to go through a bunch of phone menus and wait sometimes an hour to get the same information I read myself a hundred times? So I found that when I REALLY needed to have specific up to date information it was necessary to escalate the call to the next level. These supervisors have access to more information and more time to deal with specific questions and give advice on how to proceed through the crushing frustration that is our lives and futures. BUT... these are real people with education and training and experience and a real desire to disseminate good and timely information to the Citizen on the phone they are sworn to serve. So this goes beyond being angry at Macy's because they double charged you for some bermuda shorts and calling and ranting. Citizen callers need to understand that their frustration with the system is not the responsibility of the supervisor to solve one way and one way only. I found that maybe 20 times that I called and escalated calls (out of HUNDREDS of calls to NVC in general), I found that the way to gain ground and make an efficient interaction with this supervisor was to 1) be prepared with every piece of information to offer 2) be patient with the process of questions and answers, this person has access to all your information, but they don't know you from ronald mcdonald 3) write out your questions and possible answers in a way that makes a smooth flow. When you are caught umming and ahhing and expressing frustration in the first 5 seconds it gives the impression you are just calling to complain at anyone you can get on the phone and complain from emotions not wanting to solve anything just to complain. 4) give the supervisor time to answer fully, this poster said the supervisor kept interrupting with the same answer over and over.. well who was interrupting who? sometimes people will not let an answer come out if its not what they want to hear. 5) accept the answers that the supervisor gives and TAKE notes and build that conversation into a series of conversations that you know can help eliminate frustration because you can steer the conversation the way you want by showing that you know the system more than just a complainer. 6) phrase your questions with a statement that you know is true providing a base for the supervisor to confirm your facts and work with you on making the questions clear and concise and not loaded or leading 7) Keep this conversation short. If you ask the same question over and over do you expect a different answer? It is not going to solve anything to badger the same question. take the information you have gained and move on 8) DO get the name of the person you are speaking and use the name when talking. They know your name and will call you by it, if you also do the same it develops a tone that really does help. 9) they are not having a power trip to make people miserable, they are well trained and have wide discretion to assist when they can. If they are not giving you a the answer you think on one question, move on at least get what you can. 10) use alternate communications as mentioned already, write a detailed complete email with everything you have learned not only about your case, but the process and system. 11) all else fails if you make an infopass you might have at least some satisfaction about being heard 12 READ the forums here and elsewhere, there is always someone who has gone through this before you. We are going through removal of conditions now, and tell you what, we sailed through our interview because of this forum but leading up to that I also benefited greatly from here along every step, even when it was uber slow and frustrating. I know it is hard to be patient but you sometimes have no choice during some steps. GOOD LUCK hope you can move along your journey smoothly. It's really funny now that you've pointed that out hahahahaha! Although there's not much preparations needed for ours as we prefer it to be very simple hehehehehehe!... I would suggest though to start with an estimate date of approval... and then work a timeline of all activities you want done till that time...in any case it would be beneficial to prioritize activities that pose longer time lines (e.g. dresses - as the shorter the timeline for this the more expensive?) Or if you want it another way, you can draft a timeline starting from the time you arrive in the US, then start from there... having completely planned on your preferences and collected presourced options. It is good for 1 year from its issuance, so try to go maybe a month or 2 ahead of time, that will make it still valid for awhile once you send it in (it needs to valid on the date you send in your AOS or you will have a RFE to redo it)..make sure to ask for a second copy of your vaccination thing from them so you dont have to get it transcribed again once you are ready to file the AOS. They never hit 100%, and the approvals come in so slowly after that that you won't notice the changes. Ive noticed when the previous month gets to around 45% ish, they start doing the next months NOA2's as well, I noticed this when you guys started getting approved, Jan was at about 45% when Feb was at 10%....shows you just how nerdy I am and just how much I stare at the charts every day Hehehehehe!!!... really nice analysis Danu!!! shows how much smart of a person you are Yeah I agree the timeline watch is pretty addictive... everything in this site too... So both of you will have a copy. My fiance received it after a month. Since I did not receive my copy until I got my Visa, my fiance mailed (by Fed Ex together with the other documernts) his copy to me which is what I brought to the USEM during the interview. Your medical exam would only need the one that the call center agent would email to you or your fiance (if you dont have the notification yet or the packet 3) right after you would schedule your interview. Just make sure you know your case number as you will need it. You can call the Immigrant Visa Unit and ask them: +632-301-2000 Thanks Kardi Shian for the information... we're pacing things as of now.
