IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAbout NVC
From others that I have been watching.. it looks like there will be a few days in between the time that your case # is assigned and when the invioce will be able to be paid. I think on average you are looking at about 3-5 days or so

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIs there ANY way this is correct?
Wow congrats! That is awesome! If everything was done correctly and included as requested then you are good to go! Now is the long wait waiting for NVC. My case at CSC took 3 months but they have been speeding up lately. You should get your hard copy of yor NOA2 in the mail mid-week! Then you will know for sure!

I think I forwarded you the guides for NVC but if you need them again let me know. Now is the time to get certified copies of all documents and be sure you have everything NVC is going to need. You will save yourself a bunch of time later by preparing these now!

Heck maybe you can catch a December interview date if you move fast enough!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresEXPEDITE WAS APPROVED!!!!!!!
Yes you will have to re-request the expedite at NVC. Depending on your reasons for expediting you may or may not want to request it at the NVC level. I expedited mine at the USCIS level and once it was approved it sat FOREVER at CSC before being sent to NVC. Then NVC took a month to input it. Once it was input into the system we have flied through it in like 2 weeks! So I did not do a NVC expedite request. Not sure that it would have done anything to speed it up as it was already super fast. Plus you cant request the expedite until it is in NVC's system.

My recommendation is to get in touch with your foreign spouse and have them start gathering all of the documents. Get an extra certified copy of everything made too in case something gets lost in the process. Have them fill out a DS-230 and sign it. Send that and all of the documents to you (the USC and/or agent) and you will save yourself time later! That is my version of an expedite at NVC! I personally wouldn't even bother expediting at NVC.

Wow you guys are getting yours quick. It depends on the embassy too I guess. But NVC received my wife's case over 2 weeks ago and still haven't sent my case to the embassy. Once at the embassy, its another wait to get an interview date, and another wait after the interview.

Woohoo!

Your timeline looks way off... If NVC received your case on 9/19 and you are filing for a CR1 visa then you need to call and get your case number and invoice number. Doesnt look like you have paid your fees or submitted your documents to NVC and you have to do all of that before your case goes to the embassy. Unless I am mistaken on your filing type.

Mailed final (IV) packet to NVC last night via FEDEX!!!

I must admit I batted my eyes a few times to get the fedex guy to make copies of the police clearance certificate for me so I had my extra copy. I had just picked up the package hubby sent to me containing the certificate and the fedex guy saved the day! I was really dreading going all the way to kinkos to make copies since I was off work. THANK YOU MR. FEDEX GUY!

Now we sit back and await an interview date!

I was on the phone with them as I was typing this... The operator was able to do something to fix this.. Im not sure what though. She said ok go try again... went there and BAM I was able to pay!

I have a new questions now.... So I paid the fee and right away I had the option to print the barcoded sheet. I printed it and it looks the same as the AOS barcode sheet except the verbage on it says "The enxt step in the immigration process is for each applicant to submit an Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration with supporting civil documents".

When I did the AOS fee I had to wait a few days before I could print the barcoded sheet. Since it is there and looks correct can I just send out my packet? Or is it necessary to wait for it to update as paid?

Ok so I just got an email from NVC with 3 pages of attachments. But I still cannot pay the fee???? GRRRRR

1st page says

Dear Sir/Madam:
You have been registered as agent for the immigrant visa petition of XXXXXXXX. The Immigrant
Visa Processing Fee for each applicant indicated on the enclosed fee bill invoice(s) must be paid before petition
processing can continue. An invoice for each eligible applicant is enclosed.
Payment Instructions:
1. Do not send fee payments to the National Visa Center's Portsmouth, New Hampshire facility. This
will delay processing of the visa petition.
2. Go to www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov and follow the instructions displayed.
Important Notes:
1. If you did not receive a fee bill for any applicant who should be listed on this case, do not send a fee
payment for the applicant. Instead, contact the NVC.
2. If a period of one year passes without communication to the NVC, all documents and fees expire and
must be resubmitted to resume the immigration process.
3. If the applicant intends to adjust status with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS),
please contact the NVC before taking further action or making any payments.
4. Children who pass 21 years of age after the petition was originally approved by the USCIS become
ineligible to accompany or join the applicant(s) immigrating to the United States under the original
petition. In some situations, the Child Status Protection Act (CSPA) may allow children to remain
eligible beyond 21 years of age. If you believe that the CSPA applies to this case, please send a
detailed explanation to the NVC. We will forward it to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate for a decision.
Sincerely,
Director
National Visa Center

I received my NVC case number on 8/25/11. I have been trying to sign on to check for the AOS fee bill and continue to receive the SIF message. My wife emailed the DS-3032 agent form via email, but they said they were unable to add an agent at this time. The operator today told me that we would receive an email with instructions in 2-4 weeks. How come some of you were able to email the agent form and it was accepted?

Man NVC is pissing me off!! :bonk: This is what I wanna do to them.

Resend the email.. you probably sent it prematurely and they did not have your case fully entered. So when they opened the email they could not complete the request because it wasn't to that stage yet. I would resend it today!

Same thing with my case guys. Mine initially showed the 404 fee.. then my ubby name dob and dollar amounts were wiped out. Then on Tuesday all that info showed back up but the box is grayed out and shows "NOT PAID"

The operator said today at the latest as it has been pending since last Friday and takes some time to be fully invoiced. BS

It basically says that my petition is now available for further processing and for his to select an agent. I had him email the alternate format for the DS-3032 yesterday so hopefully they have received it and just havent processed it.

Should I mail them an actual ds-3032 form also?

As far as my fees I am still stuck at SIF so im hoping today or tomorrow I can pay them to avoid another long weekend wait!

I find it strange that everyone who was approved between July 6th and July 27th is being told that NVC received the case on August 1st. Removal of Conditions is where we go for an interview here in the states after being married for two years. You basically show proof of continued relationship such as joint bank accounts or loans, joint rental leases, pictures of lifes happenings, and show that you are still married and living together. They will then convert it to a different status. Im not sure if that makes it then an IR1 instead of a CR1 or what but I know at that point my sister in law was then able to study and take her citizenship exam and become a permanent citizen not too long after.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is next? Am I the only one so confused?
oh man... you could have sent it by email... You do not need any request from them to be able to do that. You just need to send an email to NVCINQUIRY@STATE.GOV and use the email format given in the Wiki guides. If they havent received your paper form of it I would go ahead and have the beneficiary send the email from their account and get the ball rolling. If you have questions on how just ask!
~Hot Mama~FemaleGeorgia2011-09-11 11:19:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is next? Am I the only one so confused?
Ok... let me see here...

You paid your AOS fee and now just need to be able to print the barcoded receipt page.

Once the NVC receives the DS-3032 (sent from foreign spouses email address) you will not be able to sign into the payment portal for a few days while they generate your IV bill. Most likely that is why you cannot sign in. Seems to me like they have in fact received your DS-3032 as this is exactly what happened to me. You will receive an email from NVC saying that the beneficiary has selected you as agent and to log in to pay the IV fee. You will not get the email until they are done generating the IV invoice. Usually about 3-5 day delay. Once you receive that email you will be able to pay the next fee immediately.

When you go back in to pay the IV fee... make sure you print out the AOS barcoded receipt asap before you get locked out again!

Hope this helps... any other questions just let me know!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan i yell @ the NVC operator
They told me the same line of ####### yesterday. They said my case is completed and closed but that they contacted the embassy and were told no interview dates left for October. I personally know this to be a line of ####### because I have spoken with the embassy and there is plenty of availability. Our country processes very few applications each month.

When I questioned the NVC operator about this she said they will only try to schedule the interviews the 1st and 2nd week of the month. So it sounds more like NVC only doing the scheduling the 1st and 2nd week NOT the embassies. She recommended for me to contact the embassy via email to give them my info and notify them that my case is closed and request for a October date. If a date is available the embassy will contact NVC for us and request our package be sent to them. I am going to do this today! Each time I have asked the embassy a question they have responded super fast so here goes nothing... Praying for the best!

LOL I eat Khachapuri about 4 times a week and Ochakuri twice a week.. LOL everyday she cooks Georgian Food.. It was year ago today I was on my second day in Tbilisi.. I would give anything to go back... I just adore that country so much.. 10 days was far to short to visit..But now I have her with me and all is good!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh i am sooo jealous of your dining! I would eat acharoli khachapuri every single day if I could. Just like scrambled eggs on toast with a ####### ton of butter! Would she be willing to send me a recipe??? Obviously my husband doesnt possess the skills to make it lol. But he sure would like to have it as a homemade wifey treat occassionally!!! I have found a few recipes but none that I can fully make sense of in terms of what kind of cheese and flours and such to use here in america.I just gotta know what kind of cheese they use in that stuff... Im thinking some kind of goat cheese maybe??

Awe I am so glad you and she are both doing so well. All she needs is your support and guidance and she will adapt just fine.

And you are correct in the cultural belief that a woman once married with kids is "used up"... the younger Georgians not quite as much.. but the older ones that is ABSOLUTELY true! Our situation is opposite and we have had some strange questions asked lol. I am a single mother (never before married) who fell in love with a Georgian. Not exactly "normal" for them but we dont care

Good luck in all of your adventures and I will give Georgia some love in 15 days for you both!   Khachapuri and Chacha here I cooooooome!

They are correct you do not HAVE to be there. But let me tell you that it is a HUGE benefit to have you there. They can see you interact with eachother and question you both and it makes the whole process go very smoothly. If you are planning on going over do yourself a favor and wait for the interview! Yeah dont wait until your two year anniversary to file... Do it now! The process takes sooo long that by the time it is all over you may have been married for 2 years anyways! If you havent they will issue a CR1 and after the 2 year anniversary you can go remove the conditions to an IR1. Such an easy process to update later that I would just file the paperwork to get the ball rolling. It seriously takes a year from start to finish. If you need any help let me know!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRecommendations on Attorneys for Spouse Immigrant Petition
The age old question is debated a lot on here. I am sure I did all the work and research on my case cause it was my life and future but I ended up using an attorney I found through our states list and asked some past clients reference. The reason I used a lawyer wasn't due to complicated case I am sure I could have done it on my own like I did anyway but to have the lawyer who has done this hundreds of times successfully for others do it immaculately and literally exactly how it needed to be was great piece of mind. It did slow me down a little at times but these times were stop check points during the process to take a breath and understand everything. I know there are horror stories I did not choose my attorney lightly I knew her record of success and it didn't cost me as much as I thought because I did most the leg work she just made it all come together and sunmitted a sweet packet and not front loaded. It really is a personal choice it's not necessary to have tons of billable hours choose someone carefully who will work with you on time and what they can offer. I was scared to death about filing due to getting married quickly on first visit and even though I knew relationship was real. I didn't know they knew hee hee
