I just checked my status on USCIS website like I do everyday, and found out that our I-129F got APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It only took us 65 days since NOA1!!!!
This is way earlier than what we expected, but I'm not complaining!!!!!!!!
I knew I had some good feeling about October...
It's 4 a.m. here and I should go back to sleep, but I'm too excited!!!!!

PhilippinesUS Embassy warns of possible kidnappings
I was just in Manila, Puerto Galera and Davao in January. Leejoy and my first meeting. Being in the military and having been deployed to Iraq, I was on high alert when in Davao, based off of the travel warnings. Although I only saw one other westerner there, at the super market, I felt very safe. I stayed at the Waterfron Insular Hotel. Everyone was very nice. Visted Jacks Ridge, absolutely beautiful. We had our engagement party in Davao also. Leejoy's family knows the mayor and reassured me that Davao (within the city) is a very safe place. Manila I felt very safe. We stayed at the Heritage Hotel and made the walk to Baclaran shopping almost every night. Leejoy is very kuripot. One of the only things buying at the Mall of Asia was here engagement ring. Every where I went while in the Philippines I felt very safe.

PhilippinesHow do others deal with being apart.
Living on the east coast, leejoy and I are 12 hours apart. She works in a Sports Bar in the Fesitval mall, so if you are ever in the neighborhood stop by and say hi to her. That keeps her busy, plus she has 3 other room mates and lots of neighbors from her home town, plus just lots of friends in general). Keeps her thumb busy texting everyone all the time.

I am in the military so that job keeps me busy. She typically works at night and gets off around midnight to 2am. I don't usually get out of work until around 530pm. I am very fortunate to be in a position to buy her a computer and pay for her internet connection. So we can get online with each other anytime we want. That $25 dollar phone card that only allows us to talk for a few hours pays for her internet for the month. The iChat program on the Apple computers is amazing. The video stream is sooooo much better than Yahoo/MSN/or Skype. Plus I can send files directly to her computer. The other good thing about the iChat program is that I can assume control of her compter. So if I have to show her something on a form or map or on the computer itself, I can rather than try and explain it.

We are online almost everyday for hours, usually from 7pm east coast time in the US, until 11pm or midnight. Plus she can use her email at her work, so we send each other emails while we are at work.

As much as it sounds like a cliche, try not to think about the process and it will go much faster. I can't believe it has already been a month since I mailed off all the initial paperwork.

Good luck to all.

PhilippinesFees for the Fiance(e)
Thanks for the replies.

Being in the military I like everything very structured, in order and try not to leave anything to chance. Like the Sherriff said, it did help me relax.

I will feel sorry for Leejoy a week before her interview because I will be drilling her with questions.

I thank everyone on this site for all the great information.

PhilippinesTrying to send a wedding ring
I sent Leejoy a Macbook over a month ago through FEDEX. I insured it for the whole amount and it was received in 5 days(I live on the East Cost of the US). Of course they charged her about 18% tax on it (hiway robbery). But it arrived safely.

When I sent her a copy of the I-129 packet, the clerk at the delivery place made a mistake and actually mailed it regular mail through the post office instead of FEDEX. My fiancee had moved earlier than I thought from Las Pinas to Mutinlupa. I was prepared to send another copy of everything, but surprisingly the Philippine post office actually forwarded it to her new address.

I have had zero problems in mailing multiple packages and letters to her. I guess I am one of the lucky ones.

PhilippinesUnbelievable in a month NOA2 approved?
Congrats to all the quickly approved couples and may God speed the remainder of ours along the way.

Just because you are in the military(with no extenuating circumstances, i.e. deployment) does not necessarily mean a quick approval. I am a Major in the Army (and have numerous background checks) and I am still waiting for my NOA2, albeit only for about a month and a half. I am estimating on approval sometime in mid-May based off of most the timelines here on VJ.

I have always liked the Special Olympics Creed
"PLEASE HELP ME WIN, BUT IF I CAN NOT, LET ME BE BRAVE IN THE ATTEMPT"

Be happy for those who do get quick approvals.

PhilippinesAnother increase in Medical Examination Fees
Just remember that for $213.35 to get a full physical with Xray and all immunization is WAY cheaper than if you had to pay for that here in the states. But agree that a 60% jump in cost over the last few months is rather high. But being a CFO of a hospital I can totally understand the rise of healthcare cost.

Good luck to all of us who have yet to get to the physical part (have to pinch a few more pennies) & CONGRATS to all because love is the ultimate gift.

PhilippinesGreat Start to a Monday Morning - NOA2
What a great start to a Monday morning. Although no one loves coming to work on Mondays. But today was a GREAT one. When I opend my email and saw that an email from CRIS was there. I was a little excited, but also a little nervous. Although I was very meticulous putting the packet together, I was worried that maybe I missed something and I was getting a RFE. But NO, when I opened it, I saw Current Stateus: Approval Notice Sent. Extremely happy for us, but also feel sad for the ones prior to us that are still waiting.

Good luck to all and God Speed.

Philippinescredit card
A good way to start establishing credit is get a joint card. Especially if your spouse has good credit to begin with. This good credit will spill over to your credit report. And of course pay off the card each month to avoid the interest. Then you can get a couple of other cards. The key is to use them once every so often and then pay off the amount. This establishes a good payment history.

PhilippinesPOLL: What day and how much in Pesos people pay for their Application Fee and Medical Fee?
This is just interesting to me because I have a Financial education.

On what day and how much have you paid for your Application Fee(at what branch of bank) and Medical Fee in Pesos?

I know Shape paid 9704.05 pesos for her medical on 2 May. This should have been $213.35 dollars. You divide 9704.05 by 213.35 and this equals 45.48. The Peso exchange rate on 2 May was not 45, it was around 43 (according to Yahoo Finance). This should have been around 9200 pesos on that day.

Anais paid 9387.4 on 27 May. This converted to 44 exchange rate. This was a pretty much equal to the rate from Yahoo on that day.

The first one-third of May the exchange rate was around 42.5 to 43
Application Fee would range from 5568 to 5640 and the Medical would be 9068 to 9175

The middle one-third of May was 43 to 43.5
range Application Fee 5640 to 5700 and the Medical 9175 to 9281

The end one-third of May 43.5 to 44
Application Fee 5700 to 5765 and the Medical 9281 to 9388

Hope all are well and happy

Hola a todos!

I am waiting for the pack 4 to make the appointment for my interview at the Consulate in Ciudad Juarez Mexico any advice?

Thank you! Gracias!

Do you mean packet 3? If so, you can get a head start by going here http://ciudadjuarez....ianceforms.html and downloading the instructions and forms, filling them out and gathering the required info.

Thanks rudyb. I actually figured out what was going on. The link they send in the letter takes you to the immigrant visa forms page. Apparently the govt in its infinite wisdom has decided to have multiple (at least 2) versions of packet 3. If you are on automatic like I was, I didn't pay attention to the details of the page they send you to, where packet 3 is the first link in the body of the page. If you click on that, you get exactly the information I described. The real information can be found through the "K1 (Fiance) and K3 (Spouse) Visas" link on the left of the page, though there is no link to another packet 3. I think the best thing to do is just wait :)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCiudad Juarez Packet Downloads
Hi - this is my first post to the forum. I am a US Citizen and my fiancee is a Mexican citizen. Last week we received notification from the NVC that the K-1 package has been forwarded to the consulate in Ciudad Juarez. She has not been contacted by them yet, however we did go to the consulate website, where it has downloads of packet 3 and 4 available.

Here is what the packet 3 says...FIRST: Complete and send to the American Consulate General (I.V. Section) the enclosed Form DS-230 part 1 APPLICATION FOR IMMIGRANT VISA AND ALIEN REGISTRATION (Biographic Data) and Form I-864 CONTRACTUAL AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT, along with this form, properly completed as described below. It also references in the Enclosures "3. Affidavit of Support I-824 form".

I contacted Visa Services at the Dept of State. They clarified that for the K-1, the I-134 is the required form, not I-864. So, it appears we have two bad pieces of info in the download... the wrong form being referenced - the I-864 when it should be the I-134, and a typo for the wrong form. Brilliant!

Many of the people here are probably aware of the differences, and to be clear, we have not received the actual packet 3 from the consulate yet. This is only to say that the pdf on the consulate website appears to be wrong. If anyone could confirm what an actual packet 3 received from Ciudad Juarez says about this, that would complete the circle. Packet 4 also references the I-864.

Not at all , Kikis. As the poster above said, it's only required you pay the visa fee at Banamex in Ciudad Juarez. There's a branch in Las Misiones mall (right across the street from the Holiday Inn Express-las
Misiones)

Actually, it's not required that the fee be paid in Juarez, however because of the fee increase it's easier to do it there. The reason I say that is my fiancee went to a Banamex in Guadalara to pay the fee. (All the US govt accounts in Mex are with Banamex) They would only accept the old amount and she was told that she'd have to pay the rest in Juarez.

So for now, I don't think it is a technical requirement that the fee must be paid in Juarez, but a practical one. Maybe one day the rest of the branches will catch up but for now, plan on Juarez.

ALSO.....we were there on Tuesday. I paid in dollars and it cost $388. They used an exchange rate of 13, so if you can get pesos first, you might be better off.
