You might want to also add Letter of Intent to Marry because sometimes they ask for it during he interview, sometimes they don't. It's better to be prepared though.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS-Forms Needed for Interview Booking. Pls help :)
Hi There!

You might want to read on this packet that the website of the US Embassy in Manila is providing for Interview. It has all the instructions and forms that you will be needing specifically for K1/K2 Visa.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat time does the US Embassy in Manila open for applicants?

My appointment was 6:15am when I had my interview. From what I've read before, as early as 5am, guards are already organizing the line for people with schedules.

Wow! The embassy must really have a hectic interview schedule now. When I was interviewed two years ago, I arrived at a 5:45 am and there was no official line yet but there were a lot of people already. Then at around 6:00 am, the guards started organizing the lines. I got inside at around 6:15 am. My interview was scheduled at 7.

Now that there is an earlier schedule, I think it would really be prudent to go really early like as you've said around 5 am.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat time does the US Embassy in Manila open for applicants?
It's in the morning. The other offices in the embassy do not open til 8:00 am. However, the department doing the interviews open a little bit earlier. The guards would make the people fall in line a little before 6:00 am and start checking on the passport and the interview appointment letter. Then they would let you proceed towards the door where they will check on your bag and things like that.

6:45 am I think is the earliest scheduled time, mine was at 7:00 am but be there around 6:00 am as the line goes really long and the guards wouldn't put preference on what time your interview is until you are really inside the embassy.

Good Luck on your journey!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGet married before the fiancee visa apporved
We were thinking of the same thing - have an "undocumented" ceremony in the Philippines before flying to the US. But our Church Pastor (who is also a close family friend) advised against it because it is lying. He said whether you file the papers or not at the time of the wedding, you would still be married because there is such a thing as late registration of marriage.

Also in the Philippines, the Catholic church mandates that proper papers are filed and certain procedures followed before they would even consider performing the ceremony. So you can't "escape" from filing the marriage certificate.

Do an engagement party if you want to show something to her family and make sure everybody who's attending knows that it is JUST AN ENGAGEMENT PARTY and not a wedding to avoid complications.

Good luck on your journey!

Lol. thanks for that info..I'll probably call them on Monday since it's Holy Week Posted Image

yes, the call center agent will send you a new password to your email, it worked for me :) . you can also confirm with them over the phone if your appointment went through. I always call the 214-571-1600 number through google talk for free, don't want to call the Manila number and be charged long distance since I am in the Visayas :secret:

Yup,I was given a UID. and I tried downloading my appointment letter but I still get the same message such as wrong receipt number or passport number. Posted Image if ever I'll be given a new password, will I be able to confirm my date and time of interview? thanks much!

Hello there Heroin. Did you get to the step where you were given a UID? If not, I assume it did not go through.

If yes, I suggest you click on this link and check your profile, you would only need your passport number and UID to log in - http://www.ustraveld...earchParam.aspx . Once you're in there, you can see if your interview has been scheduled. Then try to download your appointment page, I suggest you do it using internet explorer (I couldn't when I tried using google chrome). If you're still having the same problem, like for example you were getting the message :Invalid passport no or receipt, then contact the call center and they will send you a new password.

Hi there xoxohannah! I kinda have the same problem with regards to making an online appointment., when all of a sudden my log in session expired. I'm off to clicking the schedule button when it happened.I'm very much worried now and I don't know how to go back there again. What do I do now?Do I have to talk with an agent to clarify things? Thanks much!

2. if i can make an appointment... do my fiancee have to pay first on BPI or can i make an appointment first and make the payment later?

The email says you have to pay first, but I was able to make an appointment online then make a payment the next day (last Friday). Contacted the USEM Mla call center today and confirmed that my interview is scheduled and my payment through BPI have posted already. I was also able to download the appointment page --- I don't really encourage anyone doing this as it gave me a headache the whole weekend. I was worried because I couldn't download my appointment page, I'm not sure if it has something to do with not following the instruction. It was resolved by having a call center agent sent me a new password.

Hey Richie Rich, just noticed your timeline and we were interviewed on the same date.. Posted Image congrats on the approval!
During my interview, they didn't ask for the pay stubs or employment letter (which I brought with me too in case they ask for it)..just the affidavit of support and the 2010 tax transcript..my fiance thought that it would be proof enough but we were wrong..so we have to submit still the latest ITR..how long did your fiance wait for his 1040?
Thanks btw! :)

I submitted 3 prior tax transcrips (2007-2009) and since last year was submitted in Feb --I submitted the 1040 along with the W2 for 2010 . As many said also --I submitted the last 2 mths paystubs . They accepted it . Just make sure you have other supporting Fiancial documents as required .good luck .

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresKorean police certificates - Philippines embassy
Yeah that's why they gave me a 221(g). I filed mine last Mar.29 so hopefully I can get it within the 2 month frame. Do you have any idea how long it's gonna take after I submit my lacking documents to the USEM?

it takes some time to get the police clearance from japan. I believe it is a little different process (not much) to get the clearance from japan. They will not release the visa until you guys can get the police clearance from japan.

I would call the korean embassy in manila to see what they say. They would be better to talk to on this.

I had my interview last May 20 and I lack one requirement which is my police certificate from Japan. Will it take that long before they can release the visa?Posted Image Is that the new process now?
Thanks.

My wife was able to get a police clearance from the korean embassy. Pretty easy...just have your fiancee bring her passport with the korean visa in it to the korean embassy. She will also need 2 passport photos. She will fill out the form, submit it and they will give her a piece of paper that tells her how to contact the embassy in manila. Wait 4-6 weeks and then go pick it up. Pretty simple. I know what the DOS website says about the clearance, but I didnt want anything to hold up the visa process. It is free and fairly easy to get. It is better to be over prepared than to have to wait 6-8 weeks longer because you didnt have the clearance. Hope this helps

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Clearance Question
From what I read, some who lives in the province just went to the nearest Japanese Consulate and requested for their police certificate. But since I just live in Cavite, I asked for a request letter from the USEM and brought it to Japan embassy. Tell her to bring her passport too cause those two embassies will be asking it from her. Japan embassy will instruct her to do some fingerprinting at Camp Crame and she must pay 200 pesos. She'll get her police certificate in 1 and a half to 2 months. But 3 months at the most. Hope this helps. Posted Image

Hi everyone. My fiancee and I are starting to get our I-129F package together. I hope to file in about a week or two. I've been trying to get as much info as I can to help make things go smoothly. My fiancee lived in Japan for some time. She's back in the Philippines now. I understand that she will need to get a police clearance from Tokyo. When it's her time to get her package from the US embassy will she automatically get a letter to take to the Japanese embassy requesting for a clearance? Or will she need to ask for such a letter from the US embassy? Thanks in advance.

Hi there! I was also given a 221(g) after my interview. Did they write something below the sheet given to you? Let's stay positive. Posted Image

Hi guys, this my first time posting here because I need some advice and guidance in order for my K1 visa to be approved. Any advice or help will be appreciated.

SCENARIO:
Me & my fiance met in college - we've been together for almost 3years. I graduated 2 yrs. ahead of him. I started working while he is still studying. Then, my fiance just graduated last April and he wants me to go to the states with him. We filled the petition.

We are using his sister as a co-sponsor for the petition because he just got out of college. We couldn't use his mom because she just retired. Now, during the interview.. the consular had no questions about our relationship and all.. but he questioned the finance aspect.. he said he wants a copy of my fiancee's bank statement and some show money. He said I could just mail it together with my passport. It says, (221g) and at the bottom... "needs some financial documents"...

How many of you had this kind of experience? And if you did, do you know the chances of approval? How long?
My fiance is itching to go back home because he said he wont leave without me... We were really sad because I dont know if we still have a chance... Are they really still considering us? Is it a denial? We are just so confused.

To avoid any confusion it is the intent on that trip, many people travel to the US who have future immigration intent.

what i meant to say is that we had already filed for I-130 and it was in process....the consulate sent me an email stating that since he was an intending immigrant he was not eligible...the grounds were not enough ties to morocco because of the fact that he is an intending immigrant

Nothing to stop you visiting with a I 130 in process, I did it, many do.

Not enough ties is different issue.

With PI I think they would be suspicious if there was not a major age difference. However it does vary by consulate. So what is normal for PI would not be the same as for example the North African Consulates.

You would have received a new I -94.

But if you were under 18 1/2 when you left you would be OK anyway.

I don't have an I-94, unfortunately.

Also, I was just about to turn 20 when I left (in June 2008) unsure.gif

There are several things I do not understand, my belief is that a H is given for 3 years renewable once, but your original entry and visa dates do not add up.

And my understanding is that to get a new I-94 you have to do a trip, Canada and Mexico for example to get a new stamp.

I did not think you could extend in country, could be wrong.

The visa in my passport states that it was valid from April 2004 - July 2007. However, we did not enter the U.S. (original entry), until July 2004.

My father said that because it was a family-based visa, we didn't have to make a trip out of the U.S. to get it renewed. I don't have anything that states this though, so who knows if it's true. Hopefully we can get the documentation off the University and all this will be cleared up.

H is not a family based visa, it is a work visa.

You have nothing at risk to go to the B2 interview,

You may have future immigrant intent as evidenced by the K1, you just need to stress that you do not have any for this visit.

If they turn you down it has no negative ramifications for the K1.

Whether or not you use an attorney is really up to you but we had a recommendation for one with a good track record and they deal specifically with immigration issues. Yes it was expensive but then our journey only lasted 7 months which I like to think was value for money. It is good piece of mind to have a good lawyer talk you through the options and they also prep you for the interview.

My advice:

1. If anyone you know successfully immigrated to the US with help from a lawyer, visit that lawyer for a consultation
2. Know your stuff - if the lawyer knows less than you, they are either ill informed or you don't need one.....
3. Know the cost - we got caught out a couple of times and ended up paying more
4. Check everything - spelling mistakes can be your undoing and even lawyers make them

My lawyer gave me good peace of mind during the process and a good lawyer looks good on paper to people reviewing your case.

Most of all I wish you the best of luck with your application and I hope that you get to be with your loved one soon.

In 2008, the US Embassy in Manila issued 104,243 (B1/B2) visas to Filipinos and another 4,707 (B1) and 811 (B2) visas. It's pretty amazing number for a country that is identified as high fraud.
