PhilippinesDelbros fee vanished?
There's no more document verification fee. But your wife have to bring NSO copies of her birth certificate, your marriage certificate and Certificate of Marriage Index during the interview.

These are very important documents as these are the first ones they ask from interviewees.

If you need more information on NSO certified documents, look at this site: https://www.ecensus....re/frmIndex.asp

Good Luck on your wife's interview.

Like you, I also like to watch the playful squirrels playing outside our bedroom window. I like to take pictures of these furry but rodent sized creatures. One time I caught one of them playing in our porch. The poor little one scampered away as soon as he saw me coming out of the door. I am always fascinated with the sight of these in our front yard and so are the blue jays and the deers that always come jump over our property and eat my roses.

Can you see the squirrel? I took a photo of him while he was on the tree infront of our bedroom window.

The doe that loves to eat my roses. I thought of shooting him the next time she comes to visit, but husband says no siree. I cannot do that.

wow! i've never seen the black squirrels though. my in-laws always bring me to the mountain so i could see all the other animals. they love going on picnics and camping. i've actually seen elks, mooses, deers and mountain sheeps here. yes.gif yes.gif yes.gif

but i've never seen a deer in our neighborhood yet. i think that would be so so cool. good.gif good.gif

PhilippinesHow Wonderful Are Your Inlaws?(Naging mabait ba sila sa inyo?)
my in-laws are great. even before i went to the US, my mom-in-law and my bro-in-law's wife and my husband's nieces were already e-mailing me. so i kinda knew about the family already. when my hubby went to visit me last Christmas, my mom-in-law sent my family baked goodies that she, herself, made. they were also monitoring the progress of our k-1 visa application and would always be happy when we have some news about it.

i met my in-laws the day after we arrived here in colorado, and my mom-in-law hugged me and welcomed me to the family. my dad-in-law also welcomed me. then we went around to meet the whole family (my hubby's brothers and their families). and they were the ones who prepared for my wedding here.

all my in-laws are great, my new nieces and nephew are all good and i adore them a lot. they are all making sure that i'm coping well here. and my hubby always teases me that his family loves me better than they love him. lolz. oh! well... innocent.gif innocent.gif innocent.gif

PhilippinesHitting and Swearing
hi! i can't help but think that she's emotionally disturbed and you have communications problem. i can say that coz i am somewhat like her. i was raised in a family where anyone can do the talking about problems but it is not necessary that you get listened to. this made me bottle up my emotions and keep them to myself.

i never had a BF before my hubby and so i never got to really practice communicating how i feel when something's bothering me. unlike your wife though, i never hit people nor get violent. i tend to cry.

once in an argument, i would just keep quiet and not tell my hubby what i think was wrong. then, he said the most incredible thing. he told me, "bebe, i love you and i want to help you but i wouldn't know how til you tell me. i wouldn't know what you want me to do or not want me to do unless you tell me." suddenly, it's not just about me or my behavior, it's about him and me and how we can make things work.

try to make her see that you are not mad at her but of what she did. it might work.

Philippinesjust venting out on a stupid civil surgeon
to everyone, thanks for showing your support. it's quite sobering to know that my case is not an isolated one. my husband and i decided to finally mail my AOS application yesterday even if the i-693 form has not been signed by the civil surgeon. i also sent in the vaccination record provided by the clinic and the one from st. luke's. we were thinking that we would just deal with an RFE when and if it comes. our primary concern now is to be able to continue on with the process so we could rest for a while from all this "immigration-related" stress. lolz.

Hey Pasaway na angel, is it a requirement for AOS, you know, this civil surgeon thing? Never heard of this. We didn't have a civil surgeon transcribing something when we filed for my AOS? Is this the latest trend now? Probably depends on the state where you live? Just curious.

It is a requirement when filing for AOS, I think the form was revised in 2008. I don't think it depends on the state where you live, it was on the USCIS website.

But honestly, I wish this civil surgeon thing is not a necessity coz it would have saved me and my hubby time and money.

QUOTE (Kathryn41 @ Jul 21 2009, 08:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
There are a number of civil surgeons who seem to be totally unaware of the actual USCIS requirements for different immigrants or they honestly just don't care. I suspect a lot of them view this as a quick and easy source of a nice chunk of money and don't want to forego their full profit. Definitely shop around to find a civil surgeon who is willing to give you just the vaccination information and not the whole physical all over again. If you need any vaccinations still you can get them at your local health department or even your family physician and then bring the proof with you to the medical appointment. If everything is complete or you have proof of completing your vaccinations then yes, use Dr. Arnold in Texas.

If you feel very strongly about reporting the civil surgeon you could always write a letter of complaint and send it off to your local USCIS office, asking them to forward it to the appropriate individual or section. I have no idea if it will accomplish anything, but you never know. At least it will help you feel that you have done something to try and correct the problem.

Yes, I think I will write a letter to the local USCIS office. I am not into revenge or anything but I'm more into informing the concerned goverrning body on this inefficiency in educating the civil surgeons on what they are supposed to do. Much time was wasted on trying to explain to the doctor and the other hospital staff about this requirement. To think that I presented to them a copy of the instructions on filling out form I-693 from the USCIS website.

Is the surgeon you went an accredited USCIS surgeon? I found mine from this site.

https://egov.uscis.g...office_type=CIV

Just enter the state zip code to find the surgeon in your area. When i went to the surgeon, I was asked for the vaccination sheet we got from Saint Luke, from that result they will know what vaccines you still need to have. It wasn't expensive and I am already included in my husband's insurance so we only end up paying 15 dollars. We got the result a week after.

i don't have health problems so i know i would pass any physical exam BUT that would mean a whole bunch of other expenses that i think is not necessary. aside from that, i thought civil surgeons should know what they are supposed to do and it looks like, this one doesn't know. i showed her the instruction from the USCIS website regarding i-693 and she still refuses.

PhilippinesAOS Forms: shall i use my husband's last name?
first, you have to decide if you want it done the Filipino way or the American way and then be consistent with it in all the forms you are going to fill up.

i did it the Filipino way and has had no problem so far. my SS card, EAD and AP all have my three given names as my first name, my maiden surname as my middle name and my husband's surname as my last name. i haven't tried for a driver's license yet but i think i wouldn't have a problem since all my other id cards are consistent. i don't have my green card yet but the way it is going, i think (and hope) that i won't have name conflicts either.

as for our future kids, we decided we're gonna follow the American format of a=naming them to avoid confusion. innocent.gif innocent.gif

Take note too that there are two NGOs conducting the CFO seminar in Manila - PRISM and St. Mary's. From what I've heard and from what I have experienced, the recommended one is St. Mary's.

But why does St. Mary send people to Prism to do the counseling seminar? More than one person here was told to do this.

I am not sure why but before I went to St. Mary's, I called them and asked for schedule and requirements. There are 3 scheduled seminars in a day and they said that you have to be there at least an hour before the seminar because of the paperworks you have to fill up. They won't let you in the seminar if you are already late. Maybe there were too many attendees there already that they have to divert people to PRISM. St. Mary's have small classrooms for the seminar and I think they also have few staff.

Yes, you should not have used your father as co-sponser but household member...

With this route you will fill out I-864 for yourself and attach:

2007 Tax Return and W-2 (or in your case, your disibility check stubs or other records)
Plus W-2s for previous years, 2006, 2005

Any other government verification/substantial documentation of your disability income.

Next: I-864A for your father:

he will need 2007 Tax Return and three years of W-2s
Letter of employment and salary verification on letterhead
3 recent pay stubs
Copy of his passport (bio-data/picture page)

PhilippinesThe DV Mess: Good Advice
I would just like to say that it sounds reasonable not to get carried away with paying for DV too long in advance (especially before Delbros even gets your documents).

We paid Delbros a week after we were scheduled (about 2 months prior). To add insult to injury, we paid on "Manila Day" so Robbie said they were having problems retrieving information on payments made that day. My wife sent two text messages, I sent a fax, a text message myself, and talked to Robbie twice. Suffice to say, we haven't received any confirmation yet, and beside that, our documents aren't even at the Embassy yet! So right now I'm doing all of this stressing for nothing...

I will simply wait until 2 weeks before our interview and I will have my wife send the text message again. If no luck, then I'll call Robbie. If no luck then, I will repay the doggone thing

And just a heads-up, I guess Robbie is not allowed to disclose information any longer regarding Document Verification on a case by case basis.

PhilippinesMore with Document Verification and a Question
My wife and I paid for Document Verification (DV) very early. She paid on a Manila holiday, too, so Delbros had trouble recovering the information. Even after my wife sent them the text message, she received no response. This weekend I took matters into my own hands and sent the text message to them from the US...

Finally, today (monday) they responded to my text:

"Delbros has successfully received the information you sent! We will send you a text confirmation after we verify your payment. Thank you."

message 2

"Please fax your machine validated deposit slip with your name and case number written on it to 339-2756. Kindly text us again all the information. Thank you!"

How does my wife send the fax from Mindanao?

The fax number is 339-2756 so does my wife fax it to 2-339-2756 or 02-339-2756?

PhilippinesMedical Week Before Interview
Hi. Is it a REALLY bad idea to have the medical exam only the week before the interview? I see that some have it two weeks before, others, a month before. I understand its better to do it earlier because if something goes wrong, maybe the interview wont be delayed. I believe my wife is in good health.

What do you all think?

Also, I have called Robbie and he said that they confirmed the payment for the DV. Now, should I call him to see if he has forwarded that to the NSO? And then, do I call NSO to see if they forward back to Delbros? A final call to Delbros to see if they forward that to Embassy? And then a call to the Embassy to confirm that they have received the verified documents before the interview?

What are the numbers to NSO and the US Embassy to check on this information?

For our case, I made sure my wife had two sets of ORIGINAL documents plus two sets of COPIES of the originals. We submitted a set of originals and a set of copies to the NVC for the DS-230 and the other set of originals and copies we will bring with us to the interview JUST INCASE.

But the Embassy gets the originals you were supposed to send to the NVC, and then the Embassy sends those to the NSO for DV.

Thanks!

CR-1 Visa recipients receive their green cards within the first couple of weeks from entry, right?

PhilippinesVacation to Mexico, can my wife re-enter
My wife should be here in September and we are planning a vacation to MExico in November.

Will she be able to re-enter the US?

She will have a CR-1 Visa and probably a Green card by then.

hi all. My wife and i are acros from the embasy. Its late and we need passport photos for interview tomorrow at 630am. How can we make this happen?

If you'll be lucky tomorrow, maybe there are people outside the US embassy that it'll offer to take her photos, hopefully.

i'm just curious, how did it happen that after the long wait, how come your wife forgot all about the passport photos?

good luck with the interview good.gif

That would be me. I was responsible to remember because I accepted the responsibility to. But its okay, we were greeted outside our hotel at 6:20AM across from the Embassy by a gentleman that offered us Passport photos so we got them in time. Not only that, we were approved for the visa and will receive the visa tomorrow. Praise God.
