I got a question... if anyone can help. Is the H1N1 shot compulsory to take at medical check-out in any country? Has anyone heard about anything like that?

it doesnt say so on the woking website. Maybe you could contact them?
I see the influenza vaccine (I presume for the seasonal strain) is only required from oct-feb in certain age groups (under 6 I think and over 65).

My son got this letter from his attorney today.

I want you and your fiancee to be prepared for a long processing time. We will do everything we can to minimize the wait, but typical processing is 8 - 12 months according to the U.S. Embassy. Its difficult to know for sure because of the security check process. They won't tell us where they are in the process or how much longer it may take because of national security concerns.

We will be by your side throughout the process, but it will take a lot longer until your fiancee will have her visa and be ready for travel.

I hope that he's wrong. My son and his fiancee are just devistated.

Im so sorry to hear that! sad.gif rose.gif

I hope they are just trying to keep their expectations low and things will move faster than forecasted...

Yes, Jenn, you should call and try another rep.
By the way guys, I don't know if when you signec up @ VJ, if you signed up to recieve new topic postings. However, I did and I received an email about 2 couples whom their fiance got cold feet AFTER the NOA2 was received. So now, unfortunately they wanted to know how to cancel the petition. My heart truly goes out to them because I would go crazy if that happened to me.

I know, this is frigging sad. It makes you feel really grateful for what you have, even if it's not always a walk in the park.

Come on September.. I would love to see one of you get the good news this week. It happened that fast for some of the August people, no reason one of you couldn't be that lucky!!!!

Here's hoping!

that's awesome. Great idea.

Hey Sept filers! I was on the site a lot when prepping, but this is my first post. Maybe that's for the best, as I see people are going a bit crazy waiting. wacko.gif Here's are a couple little concerns; I have generally researched them, but I'll put them out there in case anyone in the group can relate.

- Denied 2x for tourist visa. crying.gif
- I'm not sure about what I gave them as Andrea's address; it wasn't as detailed as it could've been. But her correspondance will be with couriers, not the postal service, so I think it will be handled well and they will call her if they need more info.
- Still contemplating whether I will accompany her to her visa interview. That's a very big extra expense and is not required, but I've heard it helps. What are others thinking who have an expensive flight?
- What is this "touch" business all about? Someone fill me in.

Other than that, I followed VJ guidelines very closely and my application was about 45 pages with all the proofs. I tried to be as thorough as possible so I don't get an RFE.

Anyone applying in Colombia? "friend" me.

Hey, Welcome!

Im hoping Matt will be coming for the interview, but we'll see in due time. I have read it helps too but as you said, it's not necessary.

As for touches, once you have created an account, you can check if the date of the last update has changed, and if it has, somebody has touched your file - they scanned the bar code on your file. Which can mean anything and nothing. My file was last touched 2 days after they got my file, and I suspect it was when they put my file in the storage box.
Some people get a few touches, some never do, and some get one just before getting approved or an RFE. It can mean something as simple as the file was moved from one desk to another.

Anyway! good luck! Hope you dont go too crazy waiting!

I NEED SOME HELP PLZZZZ
Two weeks ago i received the envelop from the us consulate in montreal, and they are saying : please complete and return to this office :
1-DS-230 PART 1
2-DS-160
3-DS-156
4-DS156K
AND THE CONFIRMING RECEIPT REGARDING FORM DS-160
AND CHECKLIST (ENCLOSED) INDICATING YOU HAVE OBTAINED THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

SO MY QUESTIONS ARE:
DO I HAVE TO SEND THEM ALL ONE SHUT, EVEN AFTER MY MEDICAL EXAM?
DO I HAVE TO SEND THE ds-230 FIRST AND AFTER THE REST?

SO PLZ IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME, I AM AFRAID TO BE LATE IF I WAIT TILL I FINISH EVERYTHING AND THEN SEND THEM

Hey! well first of all Congrats!

I believe you fill in ds-230 first and then take care of the rest, but people in this thread have just filed for the K1, so we are not in a good position to help you much at your stage...
You might want to post your own thread in the K1 Process forum or even in the Canada forum.

We, here, are just dreaming of the day we will get that enveloppe!! : )
Good luck!

I agree that we are also expecting a long wait, but I can't help but think of the possiblity of getting an ealier response. Ecspecially since the embassy they are going to already has a long waiting process. I'm realistic in the fact that where my future daughter-in-law is coming from is more likely than not to go through more screening than many others here. I guess what I'm saying is we're expecting a long haul, but the sight of a quick turn around for so many people is fun to see. Kind of makes you say what if........

I know what you mean, Ney. My consulate (Montreal) seems to be painfully slow at giving interview dates, so I am really hoping the 1st phase of the process would go a little faster to make up for the long wait after the NOA2. I keep my expectations low as the last few months have really taken a toll emotionnally. Its been a hard journey already!! ... But, like my fiance says, we have to stay positive... so what if... indeed! wink.gif

I'm a little more dubious myself of those quick turn arounds. Most of them are at VSC, and only one at CSC (where I filed) and it wasn't a K-1 filing as far as I could tell. I think it gives a lot of false hope and I'd rather be glass is half empty right now than half full. Like someone said above. It's stressful and tiring being so gungho so early.

It makes more sense to attribute the quick turn around of some August filers to VSC trying to pad their numbers, because there's whole lot of people before the lucky ones in March to July that don't seem to have been touched. sad.gif

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but y'know... ^^;

Im with you. Id rather expect a 3-4 months wait and be happily surprised than expect an ultra quick approval and be disappointed.

After all the prep and stress around the application in the last few months, my goal is now to exert great self-control & stay away from the USCIS site for 1 week, and also to spend a little less time on VJ over-analysing everything. not sure I'll manage but I'll try! wink.gif I need to focus on something else for a change. (Not saying everybody should do the same - Im just trying to preserve the little sanity I have left!! biggrin.gif )

They cashed it yesterday, but it didn't show up in my bank until today. So maybe it's just taking your bank longer to post it to your account. Some banks will allow you to call them and see if you have a pending check.

I hope it's soon!!!

Right now I feel like I am going to be ill.. I was just adding something to my stack of "proof of relationship after filing" and happened to notice something on my copy of the I-129F. I didn't sign it. I remember putting it aside in my copy of the packet, but I do not remember signing the OTHER copy. The night before I sent the packet out, I went over everything and notice that part of Fuat's address was missing, but I do not remember noticing my signature was missing. I can't believe I would miss something like THAT!

I can only hope that I did actually sign the form I sent in. I am just sick right now.

I wonder if they would send the whole packet back.. or if they would accept it, cash the check, and then send me an RFE. Either way, if I didn't sign that form I am going to be so upset!

Oh shoot!! Well dont make yourself sick over it. You might have signed it, and if you didnt, what's done is done and it will only delay it a little, it wont have any long term consequences. I believe everything happens for a reason, so maybe your file would have ended up on the office clown's desk otherwise.

I am so impatient, just need to chill!

Does anyone know what the "peak season" is for filing K! Visa's? Hopefully it's not September. Just wondering if they seem to go faster during a certain part of the year.

I have been sort of "studying" the stats --nothing else to do here, missing my man and going crazy, so that's what I do when I can't sleep at night -- and of course, it's only people on VJ, but, if I remember correctly, I noticed that when you look at all at CSC K1s per month, about 120 files come up for April-, May- and June-filers (120 each month). And about half of June-filers are approved. Then the numbers drop to 60 for July and for August, which means it should go faster for us??? a lot less people ahead of us...? might just be wishful thinking, please dont burst my bubble if Im wrong. lol

Thank you for your post!!! HA! you're funny! laughing.gif Dont worry, that's the way it should be... July and earlier filers getting approved first. All I want is to see approvals so we keep moving up on Igor's list! As anxious as I am to get my NOA2, I would freak out if I felt I got skipped in the process and I was still waiting while october and november were getting approved!
But since Im not expecting september approvals for a while, I keep checking how many July filers etc are still waiting. I try not to look at VSC at all anymore as it is too disheartening and has no bearing on our approvals anyway.

Anyway! you guys are nice! laughing.gif Now I wish you even more to get approved this week! (or a good continuation for the rest of you) At this point, it really is just a matter of CSC approving a handful a day and you're done!

Welcome to our little group Kizza! Youre not butting in at all!

Kristin I got the same response from people when I told them about our approval, I was like you dont understand, thats the longest wait in this whole process for us. You try to explain to them the not knowing, the wait, the stress that something has gone wrong, cause face it these things get lost all the time. But no matter where you are in the process, you get over one hump only to be faced with a new set of worries, a new time of waiting and wondering, this process is brutal! Mostly my co-workers are very envious of me cause I go over to australia twice a year. Funny how they give me that chip on the shoulder response when I try to share my good news, and say,'man youre lucky you get to go over there all the time.' ####### really? Yeah the first trip over was amazing, i was really really excited cause it was my first trip out of the country, but now I'm face with a 22 hour flight, tons of layovers between LAX and sydney airport, because all the direct flights to melbourne sell out months ahead. The only light I have is my sweetheart is on the other end of that brutal flight, and the whole time im there with him its overshadowed with the fact that I have to get on the plane by myself to come home. I havent seen Damo Since March 6th of this year, and I said that it was the last time I was going to be flying home alone. But looks like I have to do it once more. God people dont understand what we go through, and I love the everlasting freaking response that we chose to do this..
Wow, what started as a simple response, turned into alot of frustration, sorry about venting, had a rough weekend, its always hard on me when I have to shoot a wedding where the people are so totally oblivious to how F******g lucky they are.

You shoot weddings!? God I dont know how you do it!! that would make me want to puke/ball my eyes out/punch random people in the face. (Im a little on edge.)
I have to admit I am very lucky when it comes to the support I get from my friends here. What you said about people oblivious to how lucky they are made me think of a gf cheering me up by saying so many people get married because it's what's convenient, or expected of them, and take it for granted, but we are actually willing to go through some real hardship to be together. I have to say that after we have already been through, I have more faith than ever in this relationship, even though it is F*****g rough. And yes, everytime you get to be together is amazing, but you know there is a tearful airport scene at the end of it.
Nobody's ever said to me "it was what we chose to do".... #######!?! Geez, now I feel really lucky I am not surrounded by such morons...
When are you going back to Oz? I lived in Melbourne for a bit over a year and I do love that place. The trip there is brutal though, that's for sure. And not cheap.
Anyway, should get back to work, but good luck! I am desperate to see some approvals. Standing still is driving me nuts. Need to see some sort of progress.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhy is this taking yoo long?

So i called USiS today and told em i didn't receive our NOA2 yet. If they said they mailed it on the 16... Why would it take this long for me to receive it? Aaaah  . They just told me to call back again if i didn't receive within 30 days after the mailing date. i just don't understand why would it take this long.

No no no do NOT take that excuse. That's exactly what they did to me and then when I called back after 30 days they said to just file a duplicate form request (which costs $485 by the way and takes up to 3 months to receive!).

I contacted my congressman after all of this and this was the CSC Congressional Liason's reply:

Generally speaking, we will provide a duplicate approval notice to the petitioner if the request is made within 30 days of the approval. Our electronic records indicate that the petitioner first contacted us in late March, more than 60 days after the approval of the petition. Therefore, she was advised to file Form I-824 with fee and request a duplicate approval notice.

Of course the only reason I waited was because they told me to wait at least 30 days on the first phone call. And of course I contacted them in January but their electronic records conveniently did not show that. I'd call them back and demand a copy (at least get a service request in) before your 30 days are up!

Sending my AOS package today... good GOD, that was a lot of paperwork!

Any other August filers have their AOS sent off? Working on it?

We sent ours off yesterday! My head still hurts from reviewing all that paperwork.

so great that you did this..it was an idea i was contemplating...more of a "hmmm i wonder if i could do this" sort of thing. i'd love the source code if you could send it! star_smile.gif

Sure thing. I'm still tweaking it a little bit, and I'm a perfectionist... so in a day or two I'll have "official" source code available.

I also keep thinking of changes for it, like I modified it so that after you run through your "day" once, you can have it check just the I-129F cases from your day (Or whatever status/Form you want to check), rather than EVERY application for the day.

I'm just hoping that USCIS doesn't get mad at me for hitting their request form so quickly is such a short amount of time. whistling.gif

Once i get it fully working, I suppose I could have it generate full data over time periods... so we could see data like Igor's list, but as a representation of all the cases at each service center? I love automation! smile.gif

While I'm not quite as obsessed with checking my own case status, I am always curious about numbers/data. So, in my "spare" time at work, I threw together a program that will run out and check case #'s on the USCIS site (Hope I'm not breaking any laws here, but it's no different than manually entering in all the case numbers!)

It's processed with the CasePrefix, in my instance, this is WAC092495, then you give it a beginning and ending case # (I ran it 1-9999). If it gets 20 cases returning "blank" in a row, then it ends processing. In this case, it finished on case# 1935

So, here's a quick breakdown for my "day" for CSC:

For all "Form I-129F":
154 - Initial Review
3 - Document production of Oath Ceremony
1 - Acceptance
1 - Post-Decision Activity

Can throw in the other numbers, or share source code if any of ya'll want to compile and run it. Written in C# (.NET 3.5). It took about 20 minutes or so to crank through the 1,935 cases. smile.gif

Hooray!! Package was delivered on Monday and the check cashed today!!! Was very surprised to say the least.

However, I'm trying to figure out how to use the new USCIS website... I have my case number and everything... Does this mark the NOA1? Also, does anytime the "Last Updated" date change mean a touch?

Just trying to figure this stuff out.

Thanks all!

Jumping in here as well. Mailed my I-129F petition off this morning. Was around 150 pages with all evidence of visiting each other and ongoing relationship (Best to have too much than too little, right?).

So, a little stress off my mind after spending a few weeks getting everything together, and now it's the waiting game.

Thanks to all for the advice and guidance on this site, it's been my guiding light through this process!

From an Indian perspective then it would be similar, just replace the Ottomans with French and British.
