IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCanadian in US on B2 Tourist Visa Wanting To Marry American Fiancee
That makes life simpler. You had no visa.

Most people in your situation in the US would get married in the US and adjust status.

Is there a particular reason you want to go the CR1 route?

Boiler I mean no offense , but I think that if you are not able to give any good advise to OP, the least you could do is learn some more of the Geography and History.

Well I am not going to argue about the extent of religious observation, apart from anything else that is subjective.

So Geographical of Historically what do you have an issue with?

I do remember reading a CO's article about his postings and his time in Tirana? featured heavily.

actually its on paper as 80% muslim but actually most people there are no religion ..agnostic or atheist but im here for support not to discuss religion or history there is a forum for that...

Just going by the published figures, which probably is what matters for the Consulate.

You did suggest I was not familiar with the area.

WE WILL NOT APPROVE VISAS FOR ANYONE WITH AGE DIFFERENCES, RELIGIOUS DIFFERENCES, PRIOR DIVORCES, CHILDREN FROM PREVIOUS MARRIAGES, SPOUSES AND FIANCES FROM MENA.

I have no idea if any of these are relevant in this case.

As a general comment, I am not sure if any of them individually are relevant, more the combination. Probably the age difference is only important if the person being sponsored is male, the other way around would be the cultural norm.

I have not been to Albania.

I have seen it from both Yugoslavia and Corfu. Back then it was a closed state. I do know quite a bit about its history. Well the history of the area, I think Albania only dates back to WW1.

I do know it is a very high fraud location as far as US Immigration is concerned, and 80% Muslim.

If it sounds like a duck....

But she knew online lot longer.. She met her husband online one month later than I met mine. If anyone should have needed more proof it was me..

I met online 1-23-09
Met in person 11-13-11
Married 11-19-11

There is something wrong with those dates.

Anyway your circumstances may be different or you were very lucky. Albania falls into the MENA category so I would also think different religion with the sponsor being older, possibly divorced with children.

I just mentioned the obvious issues without looking into past posts..

I am afraid so.

Seems like the rate is 75% for Morocco.

Makes the Consulate position more understandable.

Thanks for your reply pushbrk... however I don't feel you have a thurough understanding of what a CR-1 visa is or how the I-864 AOS can be terminated by the petitioner/spouse. The Beneficiary will soon be seeking adjustment of CR-1 Green Card status to remove conditions from Coditional Resident to Unconditional Resident. Adjustment of status must be made within the 90 day period prior to the second anniversary of issuance of the Conditional Resident Green Card if filing jointly with spouse to remove conditions. If the beneficiary is seeks divorce... the divorce must be final prior to removal of conditions, if not, a waiver can be requested until divorce is completed. The spouse/petitioner may "Disavow" the I-864 affidavit of support provided its done in writing to USCIS prior to Conditional Status adjustment to Unconditional Status. In short, I-864 AOS is only binding for the 2-year Conditional Resident period provided a "Disavow of AOS" is submitted prior to removal of conditional residence.... I'm not on the hook for 10 years.....

I think he does understand and you do not.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR-1 Visa Annulment

This is an interesting point. If you are able to get a annulment, and this means the marriage never happened in the eyes of the government, doesn't this also mean the CR1 is invalid in the first place, as technically then, the marriage never happened? As far as medical bills go, you may NOT be liable if you are successful in getting the annulment. After all, that would mean she never was your wife. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Please keep us informed.

Thta is not how an annulment works.

Put it much better than I could.

To the OP, being deportable and being deported is VERY different. 20m here to prove it.

If she has to remove conditions, she probable can, she would have to wait until the divorce is final before self applying.

Fraud is punishable by law. You have a good chance to file a divorce and send her back to her country. For humanitarian reason, you may shoulder her delivery cost expenses. If you can find his boyfriend, you can inform him about the delivery of their baby and ask to send money for her expenses. Negative DNA test result is a substantial evidence to prove your claim regarding her dishonesty. You have a good chance of winning the case.

Annulment is down to State Law.

I see no basis for deportation, just another failed marriage.

Middle East and North AfricaStudent Visa Issues at Casablanca Consulate?
Good Day everyone!

Insha'Allah this finds you all well.

My BIL has his interview on Wednesday for his student visa.

Does anyone know of any issues at the consulate that we should be aware of?

Thanks for your time and have a wonderful week!

YES! For the past 40 minutes and I cannot locate it....it just states to bring the receipt to the interview.

Have you looked on the embassy/consulate website for the information?

Just a quick question....

I have been searching USCIS and STATE.Travel.gov but cannot find the name of the bank where my brother-in-law needs to pay his MRV fee for his student application. His interview is Wednesday. Does anyone know where it is, so he can pay it Monday?

Thanks for your help!

TV2Moro is really good!

We tried Dish and Direct Tv....this is cheaper and as long as you have a good internet connection you will love it.

Middle East and North AfricaArabic TV Channels in the U.S.? Where & how?
Hi!

We did the typical packages from Dish and DirecTV, but were just too expensive over time for the content. So, my husband from TV2Morro. It is internet streamed from your computer. They send you the modem, and as long as you have a good internet connection you get plenty of channels for about $25-$35 per month depending on the package. I would recommend this route.

Good luck!

Middle East and North AfricaWhat do you think of this situation?Hi
Hi All!

I have been asking random questions recently, because random things are happening:

1. BIL applied for student visa to come to USA to get Teaching Degree....DENIED :crying:
2. In the midst of this our family in Morocco informs us that my SIL met some man from Yemen (green card holder in Tennessee) and wants to get married. The day we find out Tariq's student visa is denied, my MIL tells my husband "Well now that the interview is over, we should tell you the man from Tennessee has already bought your sister's ticket for NEXT Thursday to go to Denver to be with you. He is driving there to meet her and get married" WTH!!!!

Now, in the past two weeks when we found out about the man from Yemen, my husband has talked to him maybe 5 times on the phone. He was preoccupied because we were getting all needed information for sponsoring my BIL. We had no idea it was this serious or that it had gone this far already. To say my husband is stressed is THE understatement of the year. He called the "fiance" last night and had a huge conversation with him. This is what we found out and this is our big question...what do you think?

1. He has been in U.S. for 19 years and has a green card.
2. He lost the green card several years ago and just never bothered to get a new one.
3. He owns a gas station in Tennessee...it is open 24 hours and he refuses to have employees; he does not trust other people.
4. He says he has lived with his uncle all this time, and is in the process of buying a house for him and my SIL (however, I did a background check today, and it appears he has owned a house since 10/2009)
5. He is flying her to Denver to be with us, is meeting her here the same day...he is driving not flying (???). He wants to meet us, meet her, get married and take her back to Tennessess, where they will stay in a hotel until the house is done (HUGE ?? here...).
6. There are no other marital records in the U.S. (doesn't mean he isn't married in Yemen).
7. He thinks he will just be able to take her to TN and file for a green card for her as his spouse. In only 3 days (THANKS VJ'ers!!) I found out the wait is like 4-5 years if he doesn't have his citizenship, which he does not. She has a tourist visa only, so that means she will have to go back and forth every 6 months. My husband told him all of this, and he insists he can do it (what is the secret he has that none of us know?!?!)

My husband is afraid that his sister will be that toy your kids begged and begged for, they played with it for a couple weeks and then it got put under the bed somewhere.

There are so many unanswered questions here! We think he should go to Morocco, meet her and the family, and then come back to U.S. If they are still interested, we can go to TN meet him and his family, and THEN if my husband agrees they can get married...but wny the rush??

What do you think?

Thanks!
