IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Physical Green card	Good news!! I finally got my GC after 3 months!!!!!!!!!! My brother in law visited us last week and personaly brought it to me. Well, I guess I can relax till next year, it is a 2-year card, so I still have to go thorugh one more step on the paper-work. But for now, it is celebration time!! Well, I have some news as well. On friday my brother in law (who lives in Kansas) called us and told us 2 welcome letters had arrived for me, but no GC yet... So much for the change of address, it went to the old address (the same as in your case Alan), so I figure out they are not working to hard trying to update their system. If everything goes like I have been seeing here I should receive my GC shortly. The welcome letter was postdated on the 16th January. And as you, Alan, I won't have him mail me the card, no way, it is too dangerous. I will either pick it up personally or do a fedex super-safe mailing, we will see... So, there is still some hope for us... every morning I wait for the post-man now, waiting to see an envelope with a GC inside... yep, government is same everywhere. Lola, that is quite a story... I also thought 1 year was plenty of time to get the GC and all the documents, but now I start doubting about it. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Physical Green card	Hi guys! Congrats Alan!! this suggests as you said the system is slow but moving (more like creeping I guess)... And we are 3 identical cases, and probably there are more somewhere lost in this forum. Today my husband called the famous 800 number, after half an hour waiting (it is amazing, it was exactly 30 minutes as they said) a lady answers and after looking at my case says I am not "yet" in the system and that they are running really slow, so it is normal not to have received the GC. Yep, we figure that out... But at least we know the GC has not been lost in the mail, which it really worried me for a while. On the SSN issue thanks for your answer Alan. But actually mine says "valid for work only with INS authorization", I guessed I automatically had the INS authorization by being a CR visa holder, or not? I ticked the box asking for a new card on the DS-230 form... but of course they never arrive. I am confused now... I don't know if I can use it for work or not if it says that on the card... I arrived to the US on the 15th of November (POE Chicago) with a CR visa, and I am still waiting for the welcome letter as well. I guess I am in a similar situation as Alan, as we changed our address at the POE, so maybe that suggests that the system gets screw up when we do a change of address... Anyway, keep up the messages, I enjoyed reading them all today as I was really worried for not having received the GC after 8.5 weeks. After reading the postings I don't feel so bad... :-) And I plan on using my "old" SSN (from a previous J-1 visa when I was living here for 3 years) as the officer told me it was valid, or should I worry about this? Hi guys, I have a quick question, maybe somebody knows the answer and I don't have to contact USCIS: I have a CR-1 green-card that is expiring in November, I will apply for the permanent one (10 years) 3 months before that, I guess sometime in August. I have to do some work travel, specifically to Colombia, in September. Am I going to be ok entering the US with this "temporary" green-card? I have travelled back and forward to Spain, where I am from, and I have not had any problem, but I was just wondering if coming from Colombia could pose a problem. Thanks! IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	So sorry - I'm a bit confused.	I've read the I-130 step-by step guide and am just a little confused. I've been married less than 2 years (only 2 months in fact) and so I know he'll be granted conditional permanent resident status, but do I file an I-485 Application for Permanent Resident after the I-130 is approved and I've filed the I-864? Is there anything I can file concurrently so that he can get his work authorization asap once the process gets rolling? I guess I'm just not seeing the whole picture with the guide. I know the petition was received becouse I mailed USPS, with delivery noteification. I know the check was cashed, I checked with the bank. In checking other posts, I can get my case number from the back of the check. I will try that. What do you think is wrong? Should I call someone? Who and what number should I call? IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	RFE Information	I just realized that I only sent in one copy each (one for me and one for my wife) of our g-325a with our I-130 petition (4 copies are required for each of us). I don't know what I was thinking and this is not like me at all to not follow directions, especially with something so important. What a stupid mistake! I'm upset with myself and only wish I knew about this forum before we sent in our I-130. Anyway, now I am expecting an RFE to be sent and had some questions going through my head. Does anyone know if an RFE is a form we have to fill out and sign, along with the additional evidence? I am currently in the Philippines and all my documents are being sent to my address in the states and my dad is sending in everything for me. If I need to sign a form for this RFE its just going to take that much longer to FedEx back-and-fourth. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	I-130 approved, What documents should I start on??	hello, This is my first post in CR1 forum, I submited a K3 for my wife in thailand, and on 11-6-2008 the I-130 was approved by CSC, so I guess my I-129 is dead right? does anyone know what documents are required by NVC so we can have them filled and ready to mail when we receive notice? Can she go ahead and request the police report, and if ok to request can she only get from bkk, because she lives 400km from bkk?? I have not received my hard copy of the notice, only see on uscis website and can hear that its approved on phone when I enter NOA #, I still can not believe it's approved. I did see that it was touched on 11-07-2008 maybe this was date sent to NVC?? Does anyone know what the process times are for NVC, when will I get notice? packet 3? when I look at VJ timelines seems to move pretty fast when NVC receices visa ? any help will be fantasic.
