todo estuvo muy bien llegue a la embajada a las 6.00 am.....tenia todos los documentos peor no sabia que hiba a :wacko:

pasar....fuy una de las primeras entrevistada...habian muchas chicas con su novio o esposo, eso me hizo sentir nerviosa....pero bueno..

Esuche mi nombre y pase a la ventanilla 4!!!! tome el telefono y el consul me saludo, y empezo con las preguntas..

1. como conociste a tu prometido?
2.como se comunican?
3.que piensa tu familia de el?
4.tienes pruebas de la relacion?
5.como se llama la mascota de tu novio?

Derepente me hablo en ingles preguntandome si lo hablaba.
le respondi en ingles, y me dijo otravez si
y me dijo..... tu visa esta aprovada!!!!!.. fue muy amable y yo estaba muy sonriente....

Hi everyone,

Oue appointment is close or at least we think it is because we have been checking on Bogota's Embassy (Colombia) and the sequence in the case numbers is getting close and even if it's not we just want to have everything ready.

I know I have to wait for the appointment package but I have noticed in the online version of it that it says I have to take the AOS form I-134 however on other links it says I have to fill the I-864 form. I am really confused and just dont want to mess things up.

IS there somebody that can help me with this? MAybe somebody with experience with the bogota embassy?

Our interview

We went to the our interview on Sept 3 2010. Once we got out of the cab we walked to the enterance where they have lines that were number between 1 and 4. Once they confirm that we had a letter we were allowed inside and went thru Security. Like everyone says it is an open area so make sure that you bring clothes that will keep you warm! (The weather in Bogota sucks!!!) We were lead to the immgration visa lines and a Colombian woman gave us a folder to make sure we had all the forms. Once she confirm Ginna and I had everything we were advised to go and wait by windows on the other side to be called. After about 30 minutes Ginna was called to window 29 and they went over the forms again. She came back becuase I forgot to sign one of the forms!!! :bonk:

After I signed we were advisd to go back to where we were first at and wait to be called... Here is were the hard part begins!! We arrived in at the embassy at 7:00AM and were not called until 1:30 PM, we were the 3rd to last couple called. As a Nicaraguan who just became a citizen 2 years ago I can say that it was hard to see the heartbreak when someone is denied a visa.. about 50% of the people that were waiting for an Immigration visa were denied, including the only other couple that were there. This made Ginna worry since there was no way to confirm what they were missing and we were to shy to ask. Finally it was our turn, and we both went to window 6. A very nice american woman spoke to Ginna and made her feel at ease, she said that we have so much information:

Cellphone call detail for 18 months which listed all the calls and text messages we made to each other
Emails that we sent to each other
Copy of Wester Union recepits from when I sent her money
copies of the flowers I sent her, 2 times for her birthday and 1 time for our anniversay
Letter from her company to confirm that I went to train for them and that she was one of the supervisors that attended
Passort stamps and hotel bills from the times that I went bck to Barranquilla to vist her
And of course all the pictures we have together

She said that she had no doubt that we were in a real realtionship and asked her the following questions:

How did we meet? Through work when I went to train at her call center
How many times have I been to Colombia to visit her? 5 times total but only 4 to see her.
What is my current postion in my company? Manager
When did I propose? and the story behind it. On Mar 19 and that I was mean about it

After those questions she told her that she was approved! :dance:

We hugged and kissed and went to pay the fee for the visa. Overall the wait was the worse part becuase you see the human drama of everyone else and your mind begins to wonder where you stand in the whole process.... But everyone was polite and no one was rude. I hope that this helps anyone else.

Go and get there at 6AM no matter what time your appointment is . If you want an almost guarenteed visa..The choice is yours but I would listen to you lawyers advice.. I am going to be present in Bogota when it is time for my fiancee's appointment...

My husband is also going to be with me and my son on our interview. It shows alot when you are there with your wife.

Hi guys,

Yesterday I had my second interview. My husband did not come with me this time. I had the same CO as the first time. He asked me the same questions as before, mainly about my husband, what he does for a living, etc. On both interviews he didn't ask to see any evidence, no pay stubs, pictures, nothing. He told me to pay Domesa and that I would receive my passports in two weeks because they are still waiting on a paper for my Asylum.

I don't understand why they are still waiting on a paper for my Asylum and still call me and tell me AP is over. Hopefully in two weeks or less I will have my passport.

Hi everyone!!!

Today is a great day! I just received a phone call from the Embassy telling me I am out of Administrative Processing!!!!! We had AP for a total of 12 days. I have to buy a pin and make an appointment. They told me to bring my passport and my son's passport to the interview.

They also sent my husband an email, it reads:

Estimado senor:

Por favor que la senora Sandra *** vaya al Banco Colpatria compre un PIN y solicita una cita urgent para la seccion de Visa de Residente debe dar la clasificacion que esta en la parte de arriba de la hoja que le dio el Consul. Debe pedir la cita por segunda vez a las 7:00 a.m. Debe traer la hoja que le dio el Consul y los dos pasaportes.

Hello everyone,

Here is a little background about our case. I had applied for political asylum and was denied. I was given voluntary departure and left on time. When we spoke to the CO he asked us some routine questions. He then asked me if I brought the papers for my asylum case. I said "yes, they are all there, three big folders". He then proceeded to look over the papers in great detail. He looked very closely at every page of my asylum case. He asked me about some dates. He asked me about my kids, and then he kept looking at my asylum case. He then asked for my Cedula and made a photocopy of it. Everything looked like it was going fine, until at the end he informed that we would be placed in AP. He did not ask for any evidence of our relationship, not even for our four year old daughter's birth certificate (she is a US Citizen). No pictures, nothing. He informed me it would take about two months for the AP, but from reading here on VJ, it looks like thats what they tell everyone. He returned my passports and asylum folders. He kept everything else. Although we are disappointed about being put on AP, I must say that the process at the Embassy was very smooth and the CO that interviewed us was very professional and courteous.

I am really sad at this point, I thought this was going to be our final stage in this long journey. My husband has been separated from us (our two kids and me) for 16 months now.
My husband just sent the Embassy an email explaining our situation of being separated for so long and that kids are involved. I hope they take that in consideration and expedite our case.

If anyone has had experience with an Asylum case and Administrative Processing, please give us some suggestions. I wrote Bocajr27, who also went through something similar with his wife and he gave me some advise and information... Thank You!!

The embassy won't make your medical appointment, you have to make it yourself with one of the two available doctors in Bogotá. Now, this may be a new procedure but as far as I know, they won't make those appointments for you. Usually people who live outside of Bogotá will go to their lab and medical a couple of days prior to their interview.

As far as the DS-230, you don't need the one the embassy sent you since you already sent all your paperwork to the NVC.

Thank you Diana, we also thought the same, the thing is my husband received the letter stating the medical was today, weird. When I called the Medical Office earlier today, she told me she did not have me on the schedule, I had to practically beg her to take my son and I today, they had no available appointments, luckily she was nice enough to slide us in :thumbs:

I have one more question, does anyone know if my son who is 13 years old need a Certificado Migratorio? We are doing a IR1 Visa.

I think you could do this - Because of the way that Packet 4 reads, 2 weeks should not be too much time, but you should call them to make sure.

Thanks for the reply. My son and I have left to Bogota to see if both of us can do our exams. As I wrote earlier I received a letter stating my exam is scheduled for Monday, but we never received anything for my son. I hope he can do it as well.
I have another question, with the Packet 4 they sent us another DS-230, but this one is in spanish and looks different than the one we sent to NVC, do we have to fill this one out too, or is the one we sent before good enough? I have an extra one that my husband filled out, can I take that one instead?

Hi everyone, I hope all of you had a great 2009 and a better 2010!!

For me 2010 is starting off really good since I have my interview in 2 weeks. We are very excited!!

I have a couple of questions.
My original interview was set for January 4th and my son's interview was set for January 14 (USCIS didn't link them together). I changed my interview for the 14th to have it the same day as my son. We just received in the mail the packet for my interview. It says Interview Jan 14, MEDICAL Jan. 04. I live in Medellin, does this mean I have to get my Medical this Monday and come back on the 14th for my Interview? For those of you who went through this process already, can you please share some information on this? I was planning on going to Bogota on the Jan. 12, do my son's and my medical on the 12th and do the interview on the 14th. Can the Medical be done like this or is it only by appointment. Has anyone had any luck with changing a Medical so it can be coordinated with the appointment?

Hi everybody, my interview was the las 15th but i have been very busy, IT WAS APROVED, my boyfriend and me are very happy he went to the interview but he had to travel on 16th.

The consul said me:

tell me your history??? how many times your fiance have been coming?? when was the last time that he came?? when he arrived now?? when he will leave?? which was his christmass gift which was mine??; and that's all she said your visa is aproved.

The waiting between the fingerprints and the interview was the worst but finally we have our goal then it doesn't matter.

I hope the best wishes to everybody here and i'm thankfull with people of here that help us.

El asunto es que si me aceptan en la Escuela de Leyes no puedo trabajar el primer año porque la escuela lo prohibe. Pero si encargo nene puedo seguir trabajando mientras el embarazo y usar el seguro de discapacidad para cuando nasca.

Cómo le ha ido a sumerced en el estudio? Cuando viene la familia a visitarlo?

En una coferencia que fuí hace un tiempo un señor contó que cuando uno está disgustado con alguien debe arrodillarse y orar por esa persona por siete dias y pedirle a Dios que le de a esa persona todo lo que uno quiere para uno mismo, así eso signifique que no se lo garantize a uno. Después de esos siete días uno va a ver esa persona de otra manera asi los desacuerdos persistan, uno ve a dicha persona con amor, compasión, respeto, y sobre todo tolerancia.

Nosotros no sabemos que tan pesadas son las cruces que otros deben cargar. El anonimato que Internet ofrece ayuda a las personas a desahogarse. Yo vengo mucho aqui a desahogarme

Muy buenas tardes. Me da un poco de tristeza el ver que algunas personas utlizan este medio para agredirse ,cambiando totalmente el proposito de un foro como este. Pero llegando al punto de que somos personas civilizadas y con total derecho de expresar nuestras ideas, concluyo de que toda critica es aceptada independientemente si se comparte o no. Marymoon, estabas perdida no??como haz estado? Si mal no recuerdo tu y yo venimos siendo miembros de VJ casi desde el mismo tiempo y pos claro que conozco bien tu historia y por todo lo que haz tenido que pasar desde el principio. Hay que ser bien conocedor de la situacion y hacer la tarea de sentarse a leer el foro para empaparse de todo esto. Esa fue una de las tareas que me puso Diana y literalmente la hize. Recuerdo haber ido casi todos los dias a un ciber cafe en busca de alquilar un computador por horas , ya que no tenia un computador en mi casa. Cuaderno y lapiz en mano como cual frase de cancion de Ricardo Arjona me sentaba largas horas en frente del computador, leyendo el foro, apuntando los datos mas importantes, sacando cifras, anotando fechas, posts,todo en mi pequeña agenda cafe que se volvio famosa en ese ciber cafe. He visto muchos post tuyos Marymoon a lo largo de mi membresia a VJ, pero aquel en el que concluyes "deseandole un futuro epico" la sacaste del estadio. Muy bueno. Soy testigo de el tejemaneje de sacar dichas cartas en Colombia, tanto de ti Marymoon como del esposo de Diana. Toca batallar para lograrlo. Yo pienso hacerlo algun dia, pero preferiria hacerlo en una de mis idas a Colombia, ya que soy egresado del SENA y pienso que podria ser un poco mas complicado, no se si estoy hablando de mas. Ademas pienso que la cara del santo hace el milagro, entonces prefiero ponerme la armadura e ir a batallar yo mismo. BUeno, solo queria saludar, les mando un abrazo caluroso desde aqui no sin antes desearle una feliz semana santa. Sigan siendo felices Andres les dice.

PD: Les comento que el pasado lunes envie a toda mi pequeñita familia a la embajada a solicitar la visa y gracias a Dios se las dieron a todos. Un dato importante,conocen a alguien que quiera ahorrarse tiempo yendo a Bogota? Utilicen vivacolombia, la aerolinea de bajo costo. Me salio 100 pesitos mas barato que mandarlos en bus y toda la vuelta la hicieron en un dia. Algunos hablan mal de la aerolinea pero todo se reduce a que solo hay que saber leer bien.

Hola a todas y todos. Antes que nada les deseo a todos un feliz año nuevo, lleno de mucha salud, trabajo, recocha, comida, subidas y bajadas de peso, dietas, fajas,cremas, etc,etc,etc. Primero que todo, les escribo en medio de un frio el berraco, como bien han visto en las noticias este principio de año ha sido protagonizado por un "tormentica" que ha hecho sus estragos, ademas de traer en la cola un frio que me congela hasta .. mejor dicho.Lo mas chistoso de todo es que mañana nos espera una minima de 1F, osea, a echarme la 7 tigres encima. El fin de año estuvo muy bien.. muchiiiiiiisimo trabajo ya que trabajo en un restaurante y pues tanto navidad como fin de año lo tuve que pasar en esas. A las que no conozco y apenas llegan, les doy la bienvenida, este es el mejor sitio para informarse acerca de este proceso. Yo doy gracias a VJ por que gracias a este foro me ahorre un buen dinero en todo absolutamente todo. aqui me dijeron que papeles llenar, como, cuando donde, hasta me dijeron que buses y que rutas tomar en Bogota cuando fui a sacar mi visa, cosa que me hizo ahorrar bastante dinero en taxis, en fin .. muchisimas cosas. En mi ultimo post puse que mi hijo naceria en tres semanas aprox, pues resulta que mi hijo se adelanto un poco. No quisiera entrar en detalles pero uds me vieran corriendo esa mañana del 7 de octubre por plena 695 en rush hour.. y corra pal hospital. y eso fue llegada y rajada de una vez. Me pille toda la operacion, tenaz ver a mi esposa con todo el triperio por fuera, pero mas increible ver comop sacaban a mi bebe con unas tremendas tenzas que lo agarraban del cuello y lo sacaban como un muñeco de trapo jeje pobrecito . Pero chevere, todo salio bien, mi hijo es una personita muy saludable, eso si lo unico que me saco fue la curvita de la oreja y mis pestañotas, de resto pailas, la misma pinta de la mama.De resto, que mas les puesdo decir, haber.. haber.. pues sigo estudiando fuertemente, esperando el dia en que pueda volar un avion,todo a su tiempo, extrañando mi familia todo el tiempo(esa es la parte mas dura) pero aqui estamos, luchando por un mejor futuro tanto para mi familia aqui en los EEUU como para mi famila en Locombia. Eso si, se los digo por aqui calladito, nada mas doloroso ver la transmision que daban todos los dias de la feria de Cali.. ouch!! eso si dolia.. uno con ganas de estar comiendose un choladito en las canchas panamericanas hmmm se me hizo agua la boca. En fin, mejor no sigo hablando de eso por que despues babeo el teclado.Quisiera escrbir mas pero me esta entrando como el sueño, les mando un saludo a todas y todos, berraquera ante todo, y cobijas pa este frio tan triple...

Diana, parce esas recetas estan geniales , ya tambien me hize las papas rellenas y a mi suegra le encantaron, como anecdota te cuento que hubo una papa que se me olvido meterla en la mezcla de harina y la eche asi sola , ve, no te imaginas el reguero de aceite que hize en la cocina. Obviamente la papita se me desintegro jajaja. pero con las otras no me paso y me quedaron de rechupete. como seria que no alcanze ni a tomarles la fotico como hize con los chicharrones por que cuando llegue esa noche ya se las habian comido. Guenas como les va?

Solo pasaba a saludarlos y para contarles tambien que mi otro hijo nace en mas o menos unas tres semanas. Sip, asi como lo ven, me pude reproducir otra vez jeje. Mi otro hijo esta bien grandote y avispado, en Dic cumple 3 años. Yo, trabajando duro, estudiando tambien fuertemente. Disculpenme que no pueda escribir mucho pero pa la proxima les prometo un post bien ladrilludo. Un abrazo a todas y a todos. Es bueno seguir viendo personas que llevan mas de 6 años aqui.

Buenas Buenas..huych hace pero raaato que no sabia de algunas de las muchachas aqui...me alegra ver que despues de tanto tiempo nos tomamos unos minuticos para postear. Martesa... gustazo de leerte paisana... siento envidia de la buena por que te vas para la tierrita...no es por nada , pero Cali ha avanzado muchisimo, han mejorado las lineas del MIO, menos contaminacion visual, ya todo el cablerio lo estan tirando por debajo de la tierra, puede que parezca bobo pero yo soy un hombre muy detallista y me gusta mirar todo. Te deseo mucha suerte en tu viajecito, disfruta, descansa, vive cada dia como si al otro dia te fueras a ir, yo hize asi y me funciono lo mas de bueno. que mas les cuento.. a ver.. aver.. hmmmm huy ya!!! asi como dice Martesa.. tambien esta haciendo un frio del demonio...se me congelaban los mocos.. y lo mas chistoso es que el viernes nos va a pegar una tormentica que no sabemos cuantas pulgadas de nieve va a traer. Baltimore esta una locura completa, morado por todo lado,todo el mundo con la camiseta de los Ravens, pancartas de Ravens, bicicletas de ravens, sombreros de ravens, helado de Ranvens, sandwich Raven, estofado de Raven, toooodo de Ravens, con decirles que en las noches, los edificios los iluminan de morado.. parece pasado .. pero asi es.. aqui la gente es requete aficionada. Bueeeeeeenasssssssss Buenas como me les va sumerces?? Bueno pues antes que nada quiero desearles a todas y todos un feliz año 2013, que este año si se puedan comprar la casita de sus sueños , las tangas rojas que vieron en el mall, las botas Ugg de 300 dolares,y el bolso coach que esta en la vitrina de la 5ta avenida. Despues de este efusivo y calurosisimo saludo quiero decirles que me acabo de dar cuenta de lo del Blog de Diana y dejenme decirles que me he quedado en una sola pieza, con la jeta abierta, totalmente congelado,asombrado,mi esposa me dijo que si habia visto un muerto,se me puso la piel como la de un pollo. Parce, este mensaje va directamente pa vos: La sacaste del estadio ome!! sos una tesa, berraca, paisa tenias que ser... te felicito, muchas, muchisimas felicitaciones.Yo se que la cantidad de tiempo que eso demanda, no solo en hacer la receta, hacer el video , editarlo, que el sonido, que las fotos, que la montada a la pagina, el laburo es berriondamente tenaz, yo creo que la compu ya te debe saber a cacho, pero mira los resultados, y como yo lo veo, es una pagina muy bien elaborada, no, mas que eso, excelentemente bien elaborada. Que pena no haberles podido postear antes, la verdad he estado bastante ocupado, y especialmente el 31 estuvo una locura completa..Se paso rico, se disfruto, extrañando mucho a la familia en mi tierrita Cali, especialmente cuando me mandan las fotos de las comilonas y las idas a feriar jejej. Aaa hombre , extrañaba postear en VJ, me acuerdo ya hace mas de 5 años cuando empeze, cuando puse mi primer post, yo me sentia como un completo zopenco, viendo formularios aqui, que la form yo no se que, que la ida a la embajada, que el NOA, que esto que lo otro noo juemadre, tanto papel y vea, henos aqui. Mi esposa y mi hijo estan muy bien, Justin esta igual de loco que el papa, esta en los terribles 2, luego les pongo una fotico de el. De mi no hay mucho que contar, lo mismo de siempre, trabajando duro y estudiando. Modestia aparte, me siento orgulloso de mi mismo de estar logrando poco a poco lo que me he propuesto. Han habido obstaculos enormes, aun los hay, pero con la ayuda de Dios se que todo se va a superar. Bueno damas y caballeros, no quiero que se aburran leyendo mi post ni que se vayan a quedar dormidos encima del teclado, asi que por ahora me despido, no olviden echarme un saludito por ahi, siempre los recuerdo asi no postee de a mucho. Hola a todos.

No he pasado por aquí desde hace varios meses, pero quiero darles un saludo grande. Es pero que todos estén bien.
Les cuento que estuve en Colombia en Marzo - Abril y aproveche para sacarle la visa a mi Mama y mi hermanita de 17 y pues aquí las tengo conmigo. gracias a Dios. Y bueno me mude a la misma vez para Atlanta a vivir cerca de mi Hermana y pues ahora estoy más acompañada, aunque no les voy a mentir me hace mucha falta mi esposo.

Quiero hacerles una pregunta a mi Mama le dieron la visa por 10 años,múltiples entradas y cuando entró al País la estadía permitida es de 6 meses, pero la verdad no me gustaría que ella se fuera y pues ella tampoco quiere hacerlo. Que puedo hacer. Mi hermana va a enviar los papeles para la ciudadanía ahora en Mayo y le dijeron que podía adjuntar las solicitudes de mi Mama y mi hermana respectivamente para ahorrar tiempo. ustedes que dicen.

Diana tu que sabes tantas cosas queria comentarte el caso de mi cuñada, resulta que el esposo le dijo que ella debia votar ayer por senador y congresista y que no votara por presidente por que ella es solo residente... Ella le hizo caso y voto... Pero yo no estoy segura de que podia hacerlo, ella me llamo hoy y me conto... Que una amiga le dijo que ella no pidia votar ayer y que le pueden negar la ciudadania y hasta deprtarla... Que hay de cierto en esto y que puede hacer ella.
