CanadaK-1 people waiting for interviews at Montreal
I went from being super happy to super sad in a few seconds time. This whole process just fvcks with your mind. Just last night we were talking about how hard the long distance is and how we can't wait to see eachother (he is coming on Thursday).

I am sitting here at work crying and I can't stop. I don't know what to do. I called my mom and she says she'll do anything to help us plan a wedding in a fast time. My dad's a minister ffs and could marry us in my friggin backyard on a 2 second notice.

I just called and we have an appointment date too- November 20th at 8:00am.

I called me fiance and you would think he'd be excited but he wants me to post-pone the interview because we changed our wedding date to April 29th, and so obviously he can't activate his VISA until February 1st. He says he doesn't want to go that long without seeing me so he'd rather put off the interview.

I am crying right now . . .

If you do that, you could actually lose about 3 or 4 months for your interview. You very well could go back to the bottom. In fact, I believe that in order to change your date you need a "valid" reason, not just "I don't like the date."

As for seeing him, the USC can still go to Canada. . . . . . . unsure.gif

I don't know what to do. I told him I couldn't talk to him anymore and hung up the phone. Since March we had been planning a New Year's Day wedding, and then we went with April 29th because it seemed like we wouldn't get an interview until 2010.

I don't even know who to call to try and re-schedule.

What number is everyone calling? NVC? I guess it couldn't hurt for me to call as well . . .

I was telling my fiance last night about how long these interviews are taking to even get scheduled. First we planned on getting married on New Year's Day. Well, we scrapped that idea and now have picked April 29th (an anniversary of ours).

He is done with classes in December, he got laid off of work in August, and so he will be twiddling his thumbs.

I told him to come visit me for an extended vacation at Christmas until we get an interview date.

I hope he does because I am really losing it with this long wait!!!!

I did all of the P3 in April and gave it to him on one of his visits. He got his P3 on Thursday, and I am going nuts (very privately in my own head) because it is Wednesday and he STILL has not mailed it off yet!

I wish I was there to look over everything and mail it for him.

I hope you are right July09Bride. I hope we all get our interviews for Oct. Its just quite annoying seeing that no one has a K-1 interview for Sept. Odd as hell.

There are actually 3 VJ members, where the beneficiary is in Canada, that have interviews scheduled for September for K1:

Tracie & Michael
2009-09-01 - K1 Visa
Justin & Jen
2009-09-08 - K1 Visa
Trevor & Amanda
2009-09-14 - K1 Visa

I know that's not really really helpful but at least you know that they haven't ignored September interviews altogether!

On the other hand, there are zero CR1/IR1 interviews for Canadians in September.

I just did a timeline search and I found those couples you are referring to. I also noticed a couple interviewing in Vancouver had to wait 118 days past their NOA1 date for an interveiw, whereas one going to Montreal had to wait 322 days! That's just disgusting!

I was really hoping to have Sean home for Christmas, but I am not too optimistic anymore. sad.gif

Can I join the list now too? I just got off of the phone with NVC and they told me they forwarded our case to Montreal on August 28th.

So I am waiting for packet 3 and an interview but I still want to join this list!

ok i admit it..after a month of no wow....i've been reading up on cata more and more..and the worgens..and well.. lol i can feel the tug of it callign me back..but i'm trying very hard to restrain myself :P EQ2 is fun and all..and the graphics are way better than eq1..but..its frustrating how there is not info anywhere like there is for wow. you got wowhead, mmo and all those sites..tons of guides etc..but for eq..it's not there.

Info for EQ2:

EQ2Wikia

I have a modified UI that has built in links to these sites for each quest. So when the quest pops up, I can choose which search engine to use and it loads directly to the page that has the detailed information for that quest.

CanadaWoW'ers stand up and be counted!!!

I wouldn't play EQ2 if you paid me. Too many roleplaying people there. Same I found with LoTR Online. I had a friend who alpha and beta tested for LoTR Online. I swear half the people on there were named Legolas or some variation of it. Aion is nice graphics wise, but there literally is not enough content to play more than a few weeks. I tried guild wars and it was kind of fun. I liked the whole wanted system. I like wow, I kind of like some of the lore, but mostly, I just love to kill things and humiliate people in PvP :)

That's ok, I wouldn't play WoW if you paid me. Too many kids in the population. EQ2 is not a roleplaying game as much as you described. There is ONE server designated as a roleplaying server (not my server), and I don't see people like what you described. I've been playing EQ2 since launch in 2004 and I love it.

Personally I think PvP is retarded. I can't imagine working on a quest and someone comes along, kills me, and steals the gear and money I have worked so hard to get.

I play to progress in new content, especially in raid zones. To me it is all about making my character the best it can be, best armor, best spells, highest damage on the parse, and of course top level and max AAs.

CanadaProof of having met

I agree with Hugglebuggles. I always drove to Detroit and flew out from there to Atlanta and he always flew to Detroit and then I would pick him up at the airport and drive us back to Canada during my K-1 process. The thing is you have plenty of proof that you were in the same place at the same time so there is no reason for USCIS to doubt that you have met. You'll be fine. Good luck! :)

We used to fly from Orlando to Buffalo and then just drive across the border because that was cheaper. You should be fine!

CanadaConfused about when to file for ROC

Photography is a hobby of Bill's, he loves taking pictures. So when we go places, he always takes a ton of pictures, and tons of pictures of me, but i rarely get shots of him. He doesn't share the camera!

But the finanncial stuff is what's important. If you're good there, then pictures aren't a big deal at all.

I'm looking at citizenship stuff to. I'm debzting on filling right away or waiting. I can file mid-August but I'll be really pregnant then, and the last thing I want is my citizenship interview when im about to give birth. It may cause labor...

We don't have too many pictures either. We went on a trip last summer to Las Vegas for the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire (we met online playing EQ2). So I will be sending pictures of us with light sabers, standing next to dwarves, riding on a pegasus... You know, totally normal things like that. :)

Grats on the baby Hugglebuggles! We want a baby too but Sean hasn't been able to find a full time job so we've been putting it off. I already have 2 beautiful daughters and he is a great step father to them, which is important since their real dad isn't around. I figure I have about 3-5 years of baby-making left before I'll be too old (I'm 33).

Hey Arabella,

I've already been thinking of it too. I'll be filing in October, and I've realized we don't have hardly any pictures of us together since we got married :( So i'll be working on getting mroe of that stuff and reading the guides etc. There should be a few people doing it around fall as well, If i remember there was a bunch of K1's that got approved around the same time also!

It's exciting to think that in just 1 more year Sean can have his citizenship, and then we will be done with USCIS for ever! I am so tired of paying such huge filing fees!

CanadaConfused about when to file for ROC
Hello!

I am posting because I want to make 100% certain of when I am supposed to apply for Removal of Conditions for my husband.

We filed for his 2 year green card on May 20th, 2010, following our mariage on April 29th, 2010.

He received his employment authorization card on July 22/2010.

The expiration date on his green card is 11/29/2012 (they lost his medical and so our application was delayed).

So, I am pretty sure that the soonest we can apply for ROC is 09/01/12 (90 days prior to the expiration of his green card which is 11/29/2012).

Does that look right?

Thanks!!

I've been cooking since Sean's been here. It's a lot more fun to cook for another grown-up.

Tonight we are having a turkey-stuffing casserole recipe I found on allrecipes.com:

http://allrecipes.co...ole/Detail.aspx

Sean has called me twice from the grocery store. He is at the grocery store right now and he can't find cubed cooked turkey or chicken!

It's so awesome having him here and he is not working. I come home and the house is picked up, the dishes are washed, the laundry is semi-folded, the beds are made, and I have a gorgeous man to come home to! I could get used to my "house husband."

I sent 10 or so and put them in a zip lock bag, then I stapled the bag to a piece of paper. That's what we did for the K-1 petition so I just did the same thing again. I don't think it really matters, as long as its clear.

Do you all staples the pictures to a piece of paper, leave them in a picture envelope, or do something else with them? Of course I labeled the backs of the pictures.

CanadaWhat Are You Reading?

Totally as an aside 'cause it's probably already been discussed.. but I love my Kindle :) If anyone's looking for an honest opinion, weird at first but I love it. My mum's a paperbook girl, she borrowed it one night to read a book I got for free (Mr. Darcy's Diary - Mr Darcy's version from Pride and Prejudice). She said she was so into the book and so relaxed all snuggled up in bed clicking the pages that she read a LOT more than she planned...

My only complaint? It's far too easy to buy lots of books :P I think I've bought more books since I got the Kindle than I have bought in my entire life :P

My mom is a "Kindle-Holic." She bought one for herself, then 2 ("I've got to have one for back-up!"), then a third when the newer versions came out. She gave me one of the original 2 and I enjoy using it. When I went online to her amazon.com account I saw pages and pages of books that she has downloaded. I'd say she easily downloads 15 books a month (she's retired now).

While I love the Kindle, I think I'd rather go to the Library than spend that kind of cash on all of those instant downloads.

Loved the Fire & Ice series. I can't wait for the Game of Thrones to premiere on HBO next spring.

I read all 4 of these books as well. I'm just disappointed that A Dance With Dragons has no specific release date. A lot of Martin's fans are speculating that he is giving up on the series.

I'm interested to watch the HBO series though. The books were fantastic!

I went to Barnes and Noble the other night but didn't get anything. I just wasn't sure what I was in the mood for.

I did read all the twilight books a while back- I really enjoyed them.

Over the last few months- it has been most of Phillipa Gregory's books, she wrote the Other Boleyn Girl. Between her books and watching the Tudors- I have really been into Henry V111 and that period.

I read The Other Boleyn Girl, The Queen's Fool and The Virgin's Lover just recently. My favorite of those was The Other Boleyn Girl- so much better and more scandalous than the movie of course.

I just finished reading the Twilight books- Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. I wasn't going to read them because I thought they were teenager books, but I just loved them! All of my coworkers and even my mom are reading them as well!

CanadaGot Baby? Avez vous un bebe?

I've actually noticed that a lot of people in the US anyway, tend to have kids EXTREMELY young, whether on purpose or out of sheer stupidity. Or maybe I think that because most of the other military wives my age already have 2-3 children, and it completely throws me for a loop. :S I never saw that sort of thing in Canada, or rather, I did, but it wasn't as often or frequent as I see it here.

I think your experience is because of the military. I was an Army wife for 8 years (at age 18) and all of the young enlisted guys had wives and babies. I think they might have enlisted when they got their girlfriend pregnant. It might just be that group of people.

I am noticing that my high school friends on Facebook are all getting married and having their first baby this year- and we are all 32! They did a lot of partying and taking their time in college (one of my friends took 10 years to get her degree), and are settling down now.
ArabellaFemaleCanada2010-12-02 11:20:00
CanadaGot Baby? Avez vous un bebe?

This thread is exciting to read, even if I'm an outsider looking in!

The baby decision is a tough one for us. On one hand, we've come to lead very stable lives. We're pretty financially sound, own a home, 2 cars, steady jobs, all the things people tell you to establish before thinking about kids. And then on the other hand, I'm not sure I could handle it. Am I mature enough to make the necessary sacrifices? I'm not really sure. I guess we should be sure first? There are just a million things to consider. I feel like I'm still young (23) but the husband is almost 26 and is starting to feel "old." For every reason to have a child, there are 5 reasons to put it off. It's just crazy! The way I over think things, I'll be going over the same pros and cons 10 years from now. How did you guys make the decision to start a family?

I'm the wrong person to ask about this but I'll reply anyway. I made the decision to have my first daughter when we had been married for 5 years and I was finishing my master's degree and employed as a school counselor. It seemed like the natural thing to do and I really wanted a baby. Looking back I think I wanted a baby because he was deployed a lot and I was lonely, also my friends (who were older than me) were having babies too. I was 23 when I got pregnant, and 24 when my baby was born. When he left me two years and two babies later, I grew very resentful and jealous of my friends who were without kids and could spend their money on themselves and come and go as they pleased.

Being in a stable relationship makes having kids a pleasure. I am able to enjoy my kids a lot more now that Sean is with us. It makes everything much easier when you have a truly supportive husband. I probably would never have been jealous of my single kid-free friends if my kid's dad had been as wonderful as Sean. So I guess for me it was being finished with school, being married for a few years, and having my career in place. Also, having one baby is not as life changing as having two. You can still go places with one kid, but two is a lot harder.

Sean and I are home-bodies and we love doing things with the kids. For us the kids are a lot of fun. We play Mario on the Wii with the kids, and love to go swimming, etc. with them. My ex husband preferred going out, so being tied down with kids was no fun for him, and it hurt me when he went out and left me at home with the babies while he partied. So the kind of life style you want to have plays a role too.

I know what you mean. Being pregnant was such a special time for me. I had super-easy pregnancies with both girls and loved the newborn times as well. I think we are going to start officially trying this summer. I want to aim for having a baby in the spring of next year so I can have the summer off as well (I work in a school). I had an easy time getting pregnant before, but now that I'm 32 I am not sure if it will be so easy!

I think that stems back to the discussion regarding WoW's demographic. I just don't have the patience for fart/washroom jokes or hearing some basement hoarder toking every ten minutes over vent. And we have bad luck with guilds, it seems.

lmao. Yeah Sean said today that we should try to "convert" you and Ben to EQ2. People who come to EQ2 from WoW say the same things . . . immature little kids run the guilds and the chat.

I love my guild. Our guild leader is a Network Administrator for a large corporation in Atlanta. He is 38. We are all grown-ups, except for a 15 year old who is VERY mature and we all love him.

When I found myself compiling a list of the current stress factors in my life, and WoW counted among them, I decided it was certainly one I could live without.
Hooray for solo-questing until my subscription runs out in a couple of weeks.

Well EQ2 doesn't stress me out. I've been in the same guild for 3 years now, so if I can't raid I don't sweat it. It's not like they are going to boot me.

Ben asked me a couple of days ago if couples posted together on "my website", heh.

I asked him why he was asking, it wouldn't change the fact that he still probably wouldn't do so.

"Yeah, you're probably right."

Last night while we were raiding Sean asked me what I was doing.

I said "Reading VJ."

He said, "Why did I even ask?"

Haha, he should know better.

I remember once telling Ben that the day fellow WoWers could help me acquire my visa, I'd start paying more attention during raids.

We quit raiding shortly thereafter... heh.

Why quit raiding? We take so many AFKs and they have to explain the same strats over and over so I have plenty of time to read the forums.

Like right now I've been in a raid since 7:30. lol
