I was just looking at some repositioning cruises... and if the timing works... I think I might go to Poland for the interview... help Joanna pack... and then fly to London or Madrid to hop a 10 day cruise back to the states instead of flying....

Hmm that sounds interesting. If you take a cruise back to the US, where would she active her Visa?

Missy, I want a better Snoopy dance!!

Hey Richard congrats on your NOA2!

My fiance received his packet 3 last Thursday. I would just like to vent to you guys because way back in April I filled out ALL of the forms for packet 3, and gave them to him so that when they requested it he could mail the packet back the same day or the next day.

Well he had to change some of the info on the forms to update it (his job has changed and he is still in school he didn't graduate in April like he was supposed to), so we went through it together on the phone. That was Thursday. Yesterday I casually asked if he had returned the packet. He said he "lost" some of the forms and had to re-do them. Then last night I asked about the DS 160 and if it took the picture of him that I sent. He had no idea what I was tallking about. So I linked him the form and he told me that he did not see a prompt to upload a picture when he did it, so he is going to do it again.

Montreal is famous for taking forever for interviews, so the longer he sits on this packet 3, the further out our interview will be.

Some people just aren't very good with paper work. I won't say especially men because then Richard and Stephen will have to set me straight. ;p

Bella..... first... sorry that the paperwork has hit a snag... what is a ds-160? I dont recall reading about one of those...

Second... I cant speak for Stephen... but i am not good at paperwork... you should see my desk.... but in this case... I have forced myself to be... and to be honest, I am also using an attorney... so that has helped a lot...

Third... if you need.... I can go smack your SO around a little to help straighten him out!! tongue.gif

Stephen...

Now that your file is on its way to the Embassy... what does the prospects of you going over in October look like? I don't recall the exact dates you were planning on going and the holiday....

You probably have not heard of the DS 160 because your consulate does not use it yet.

"DS-160 New online form https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/

The new DS-160 Online, Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application, will eventually replace current nonimmigrant application forms DS-156, 157, 158, and other related forms, such as the DS-156E, 156K, and 156V."

The irony is that they have this new form, require that you complete it and print out the confirmation page, but then they ALSO require you to fill out all of the old forms and bring those as well! I emailed Montreal and they told me we had to do both!

Well, it's semi-comforting to hear that you aren't so great with the paperwork. I am TRYING not to be that pushy, nagging future-wife, but I just want to take it over and do it for him. It is driving me crazy not being able to double check the forms! I want him to scan them to me so that I can check them, but I am also trying to let him be a big boy about this.

Here's the latest (since I'm sure you're all just dying to know)...

I called NVC tonight, just as I did last night and will probably do every night until our petition is sent on to Seoul. laughing.gif

It arrived there late in the day on Monday, 8/31—I say that because it hadn't arrived in the afternoon when I first called, but they had it when I called around 10:30 that night.

As of tonight, it's still there crying.gif but they asked for Elisha's email address, which is a good sign. Seoul sends out Packet 3 by email, and as there's no place on the I-129F petition to provide the beneficiary's email address, they didn't have it yet. I also got her consulate case number. good.gif

Still no NOA2 hardcopy, but that's not entirely unexpected.

Does packet 3 go to him or to me? When I called NVC they asked me for his email address. I already completed all of the forms for packet 3 off of the Montreal Consulate website and gave them to him back in April to use for whenever he got his offical packet 3.

But I am not clear as to whether packet 3 goes to the USC or the beneficiary.

P.S. Not to rub it in but Sean will be here tomorrow for a week!!!!

I just called the USCIS this morning and got to talk to a very nice agent (amazing). He said that as of today 9-2-09 the Vermont Service Center is currently processing the 129F applications received on March 5, 2009.

I guess it wont be long now....

March 5th? That's the date they quoted me 2 weeks ago! Liars!

We always drove to Buffalo and left from there to fly to Florida as well. Way cheaper! It was about a 3 hour drive but we'd leave the day before and stay at a hotel that had park n fly and it was still cheaper. Especially if you were going for a week or more cause the hotel with park n fly was cheaper then leaving your vehicle in Toronto for a week.

Do you recommend parking anywhere? He is planning on parking at the airport. I looked on line and they have a lot (Long Term cool.gif that is only $8 a day max of $40 a week. In Orlando we have parking places that are just down the road from the airport and take you there in a shuttle. They are cheaper than the airport, although $8 a day is a pretty darn good price.

8$ a day/40$ a week is a pretty good deal from Atlanta's point of view.. I think I pay 11$/77$ a week here

and on a different note

Aye. The Orlando Airport is $17 a day! Yikes! I made the mistake of parking there before- for some reason I thought it was $10 a day. Ouch!

On a side note- two of my sisters live in suburbs of Atlanta- Lilburn and Mableton. smile.gif

Hey guys, I'm getting frustrated as most of you are and decided to follow the lead of Sir Richard in sending a letter to my congressman. I was thinking of sending it on tuesday so let me know what you think about when to send and your comments on the letter thanks, mari joe

Dear Senator,
I have a particular concern in which I need your help. I filed an I-129f (petition for fiancée visa) with USCIS on March 25, 2009. I have called them and gotten conflicting responses as to the status of my petition. One representative tells me I am outside the processing times and they are working on my case, then referred me to an officer who tells me I am within the processing times and they are not working on my case. I have signed up for case status online and there has been no activity since March, stating my case as received and pending and the USCIS website indicates that processing times are below five months, which I am clearly beyond. I greatly appreciate your efforts to help in obtaining a service request to initiate action on my case and I hereby give you permission to look into my concern.
Sincerely,

I just want to encourage you that you could get approved any day now! I too was at the point of writing a letter or calling and then WHAM (yep, that's how it sounded) I got the approval. My approval was on the 24th of Aug and my NOA1 date was March 13. You are March 23, so 10 days after me which could mean you'll see your approval this week!

No I wasn't. I got a text from him at 10:26pm that said, "Well we've stopped for the night in Marquette. Have a good sleep love."

That's it! Nothing in response to my text and voice message about the NOA2!

Marquette is in Wisconsin. So maybe once he is in Winnipeg he will check my message. sad.gif

was the text "We're APPROVED"? or just a 'call me' kind of thing? surely it was the latter?

It was "We got our NOA2!!!!!"

I might have been jumping up and down, but Sean doesn't really seem to get too excited. He will probably just say, "That's great," and then ask me what's next.

He was super-anxious a few months ago and wanted to move down to Florida, but he has sort of settled in to playing the waiting game and he is not anxious anymore. He even signed up for a semester of college to stay on his parent's insurance (yeah this one is confusing since he lives in Canada but apparently not all of the insurance is free). So he is not going to move here until the semester ends in December anyway. But Montreal is so slow at booking interviews that he might not even get an interview until then.

A few weeks ago I told him that on VJ the March processing date was up to March 13th (our NOA 1 date). His response was "Oh great does that mean we go to NVC now?" So I had to explain that is didn't mean anything except that perhaps ours would be looked at soon.

lol, typical man smile.gif

Exactly. He just sort of goes with the flow. I fill out the forms, he signs them. I tell him what to do, he does it.

The funniest was when I sent him the list of vaccinations to make sure he had all of his shots.

He replied, "Well I haven't had that Gardasil shot so I will talk to my doctor about that." laughing.gif (he was serious!)

I tired to call Sean but he is somewhere in Michigan driving his twin sister back to college in Winnipeg, Manitoba (it is a faster route to drive through Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota and then up to Winnipeg). She goes to "university" as the Canadians say at the University of Manitoba.

So I sent him a text, an email and left him a voice mail message.

Hoping you receive a quick response! good.gif

Thanks buddy... here is the rest of the letter for those who have interest... (I.E. Arabella!!!!)

Tina, it is incredibly frustrating being in the process and watching the disparity of the approvals between the service centers and being forced to use Vermont because of my place of domicile. It is further very aggravating to see people that have not waited nearly as long getting approved while I am helpless to do anything but watch. I originally contacted your office for help in this process and I do greatly appreciate your attention and efforts, the replies that you get from the USCIS are basically the exact same information we can get off the web or are just a standardized form letter responding to your inquiry. This leads me to a question… WHO do I have to contact that has some pull within the USCIS?

When you call the USCIS they deny any approvals in April and if they say, if there are April approvals then they must have been expedites, which they are not. The call center is absolutely useless, they read scripts and only tell you what is on the USCIS website. This whole process is broken and in dire need of repair. In the age we live in with all the wonders of technology at our finger tips… it is amazing this process takes as long as it does. Can you imagine if it took 6 months to get a mortgage or children in school or similar things in everyday life?

The National Visa Center along with the US Embassy in Warsaw have been very helpful and responsive to the questions and requests I have made in the preparation of our application and even my request for an expedited interview for Joanna so that we could try to get the children in school here in a timely manner.

Please, try and twist someone’s arm and have them look at my application and in the big picture, please make an effort to bring immigration into the 21st century.

Thank you for your kind assistance,

Nice job Richard. Let us know if they say anything!

Ok... so here ya go...

Spoke to a very polite young woman by the name of Chastity... how could not provide ANY info... other than what is on the website and refused to put in a service request since they are currently processing March 5th files. grrrrrrrrrrrr... Said ok... Chastity, please connect me to the an officer at the USCIS which she was reluctant but ultimately did do.

Spoke to an Officer at the USCIS how asked me a bunch more information... pulled up the file and said that I was still inside the processing time line. I told this officer that according to the press release dated August 6th 2009, at 5 months 1 day that I was within my rights to submit a service request. The officer did not argue and filed a service request and gave me a referral number. After completing the referral, he said that it generally takes 2 weeks for a response and asked if there was anything else he could do. To which I said, sure, if you dont mind me venting.... I went over the appearance of all the April approvals, blah, blah, blah... he didn't have any insight as to why and said that the 5 month time line was in his opinion highly optimist....

Bottom line... I got no real insight but was allowed to enter a service request.

I feel slightly better... but am not holding my breath..

Arabella... CALL them and do the same... smile.gif

I'm glad you feel better and I agree - Arabella, CALL DAMMIT!!

If it takes two weeks for a service request, surely you will have heard something before then, right???? Maybe it's time to start nagging the senators in your state again. This is the most frustrating and aggravating, ulcer causing experience EVER!!!

Um, what exactly do yo usay when you call a senator? I feel pretty intimidated about going that far up the food chain.

I went to both Senator Roger Wicker and Senator Thad Cochran's websites and found links to the services that they provide their constituents and in that list is Immigration Help or some wording to that effect. I clicked that link, filled out the Release form that was there and emailed it (printed and faxed to Cochran's office, emailed to wicker's office) and then I called and talked to the Liason that handles that. They have always been VERY NICE. It depends on your state as to how effective they are. Do it!!!

Ok I could do an online thing- that sounds harmless. I live in Florida, so I am thinking that they probaly get a lot of these. . .

What kind of jobs do you all have that allows you to make posts all day long? Hmmm????

I'm a high school guidance counselor. So I surf the forums when I don't have people in my office. laughing.gif

Job? What Job??? smile.gif

Ok... so here ya go...

So does a file service request mean that within 2 weeks someone will look at your file? I guess then I should call because if I don't in 2 weeks I'll be kicking myself. Do you have a link to the August 6th press release?

http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

there was another post about the 5 month 1 day thingie... but I cant find it... and it doesnt matter... just be kind, polite but determined.... and they will at least file the request.

Morning gang! Hope today is productive for all of us!

Amen to that!

At least it looks like they're keeping up the pace: people have already gotten emails from CRIS this morning showing NOA2 dates of 8/23 (Sunday? USCIS works weekends now?). Of course, one of them was another April... grrrr....

On my way to work I was thinking, "Today's the day!" I hope I get a touch or an email today!

Stephen and Richard- Let me know what happens when you call to have your cases looked into. Maybe I'll get some "balls" and call back too!

11 approvals on friday... wow.. I think that is a record since I have been on VJ... alas only 4 were from march

No kidding! Now if that guy who punched out 7 Aprils on Friday would grab a box of Marches next, we'd be getting somewhere!

YES... Although I am happy that VSC is on crack... and pumping approvals out at record pace and certainly happy for the April couples... there are 65 March couples waiting in agony and that really sucks...

I read somewhere and now I can't find it, that at 5 months 1 day we can call and submit a service request... tomorrow is that day for me... and I am prepared for it not to be a very pleasant call... Because I don't want to hear that ####### they gave Arabella that they are working on march 5th! I can read that on the website... so I had better get someone helpful or get bumped up to someone that knows SOMETHING!

lol Well give 'em hell and let us know how it goes!

Anyway, nice to see that they are working on (some) March petitions. smile.gif

I was thinking the same thing so I checked my status and still not a touch or anything.

I am hanging in there and grats to the rest of you guys!

Now that your applications are finished maybe they can blow the dust off of mine and take a look at it!

Grats, but don't you mean after 158 days? That's what your timelines says. When I first saw 132 days I thought you were an April filer but you are a March filer.

Well I called! lol The guy was very nice and he even told me to call anytime. "That's what we're here for ma'am" he said repeatedly. He told me that VSC is working on March 5th. He says they have not gotten to March 13th yet. Then he tried to explain the late March and early April aprovals that I was seeing as "potentially expedited cases" and that I should not compare other case processing dates to mine . . . blah blah blah. He told me I was only "8 days away" from the March 5th date, and to just hang in for 8 days and hopefully I would hear something by then . . .

It was kinda nice to just talk to someone about my case!

This is, as Homer Simpson would say, bullplop.

It took friggin' forever for them to start March—they were way beyond 50% finished with February before they got into March in earnest. And now they're plowing full steam ahead into April? What do these people have against March?!

Grade-A bullplop!

good.gif I have to agree. Lars Larsen had someone on his show on the radio tonight talking about immigration and naturalization....people were calling in and talking about how awful the system works and how long families are apart while waiting. I wish there were more publicity about the people that try to do this legally. Or, at least equal coverage. One story about illegal immigration and then one story about legal immigration.

Looks like we just had a March approval. smile.gif

Nice to see a few March approvals yesterday after all. Was afraid there were none when I went to sleep. Another today as well, but the pace has really slowed now, or rather, has seemed to switch focus to April.

Tomorrow is the last day of the "work week". Let's see what happens. Might just end up calling as well, just to see what's up.

I am definately going to call. Even if they make me feel like I waisted their time.
