K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGot the K-1. Now what are our options for getting married?

Even if it's a simple wedding, be sure and take some wedding pictures for the AOS interview. Group pictures with some family members might also be helpful, if possible.

You should be ok. According to the USCIS website they accept previous editions anyway. There is another discussion about this here http://www.visajourn...es-on-12312013/. Our interview is Jan 30th, and we are using the current form.

One person was answering the OP's question by explaining the options and the differences between the two, so that they could make an educated decision. Another person, for some odd reason, somehow took offense and then rambled on about making copies, which had absolutely nothing to do with the their question. The OP was obviously concerned about price because they specifically asked about the cost.

What happens if you send it to Lewisville, TX? That's the address they provide if its express mail. I'm uncertain which address to use. Does it matter?

If you send it through USPS you can send it to the Dallas address. The Lewisville address is for couriers such as Fedex, UPS, and other express couriers. These companies cannot deliver to a PO Box. Priority mail is plenty fast. Express mail costs way more and might get there one day sooner, if not the same time.

I used the Priority Mail legal size flat rate envelope. Its $5.75 if you pay at the post office. Its a little cheaper if you pay online and print the label yourself.

your point? There are a lot of stupid and outdated laws on the books, driving through a state being married to cousin isn't going to get you arrested. SMH. here take a look http://tjshome.com/dumblaws.php

It's a felony of the third degree in Texas, and I wouldn't call this an an outdated law. The latest amendment was in 2009.

the other question is: Has  Anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with USCIS ... we put no.. is that one correct??

The  K1 is a non-immigrant visa.

Laspoxaroumeni,

I have been through the process a little while ago....you can pm me and talk this over, since we both have to deal with Greece, here. Don't panic, girl...everything goes smoothly. People at the embassy are kind and friendly and they realize that we are under a lot of stress, since this is our life they have in their hands! And the medical is not as difficult as you think. Imagine that the blood test is for syphilis! Not for AIDS or HBV or whatever incurable, but syphilis :)

Do yourself a favour and take it easy....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPoint of Entry - What to expect?

Congratulations Kev N Ann.  This is a great post! I was concerned about the wait times because my fiancé has my 13 month old son and you know kids can get very impatient.  Also as you know we have a very large Airport. I will also share my experience here for those who are traveling on a K-1 and K-2 visas. My entire family will be arriving March 4th.  Again congratulations and I wish you the best with your fiancé and a long happy life together.

Thank you!

Good luck to you, too! I hope everything will go smoothly and you will also have a great life in the U.S.!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPoint of Entry - What to expect?

I would like to share my experience at Atlanta POE yesterday...

First, I went in one of the "visitors" booths. The officer there took my sealed envelope and my passport. He also took a photo of me. Then, he put my stuff in a plastic folder and escorted me to the Tripod. I waited there for about 30'. The airport was very busy yesterday!
The officer at the Tripod never took my fingerprints. He asked me a few questions:
-What did you come here to do? - I came here to get married!

-When are you planning to do that? - (Gave him the date)

-And you're going to stay? - I will apply for AOS

They did not keep my x-ray. I told them that, according to the Embassy, I was supposed to deliver it at the POE. He said: No, we are not doctors! Keep it and give it to your doctor to have it in your medical history.

They also asked me several times if I have any food with me and what kind of food was that. I told them. They never asked to search my suitcases.

After typing some of my data in their system, they gave me a sheet with information for my next steps, handed me my stamped passport and wished me Good Luck!

That was it! As sipmply as it could be!

The question is: what about the fingerprints? Has this happened to anyone else? I mean, them not taking the fingerprints at this point?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion regarding setting appointment for K-1 Visa petitioner

I don't know if there is a difference in the procedure when it comes to Manila, but if it is like anywhere else, you don't need to worry about the deadline USCIS gave you. As soon as the file reaches the embassy and your fiance has followed their instructions on what additional papers they need and what fees he needs to pay, and he did everything in time, you're OK. It is common for the Embassies not to have available interview appointments.

Also note, that your fiance is now the petitioner and he will, hopefully, be approved when he has his interview. He was the beneficiary up to this point, but now he is the petitioner for a K1 visa.

You'll find many similar posts in here!

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A (All Other Names Used box)

By "other names used", that want to know possible official name changes of the past, like because of a previous wedding, or simply because someone did not like their name and they had it legally and officially changed.
They want to be able to have a full background check of the people involved and this is why they need all names someone have used in the past.

They don't need the nicknames, we all use.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOnce I-129f is approved do you have to pay another fee with the I-160 for the interview?

Wooooooooow!!!!!! Thanks God i asked so i can say that to my fiance before he see the "bill" and have a heart attack. But Kev on the embassy site is a papar that says 150 for the medical exams. And did the inform u before for the visa fee? Cause i need to know how much money i need to have with me. WHAT WILL I DO IF I HAVE NO ENOUGH ? If they ask for 200 lets say and i have 150? So i need to know

Pffff this interview thing makes me sooooo nervous ..... Wish i didnt have to do it

So 240 that the uscis site says for the nvc stage sometimes u pay it on the embassy? Or are 240 on nvc plus 240 on the interview . And at the airport will i have to give more?

You have to pay the fee BEFORE your interview and bring the receipt with you. You will not pay anything at the embassy.

Yes, of course they will let you know. You can either charge a credit card or pay at Pireaus Bank. The amount is $240 (or 180 Euros), as mentioned before, and that's it. There is no payment at the "NVC stage".

Indeed, that site and the information the embassy will send you, mention a payment of 150 Euros for the medical, but it is a little bit less. I went to Evrokliniki and, as Kevin said, I paid 23 euros to the hospital for the blood test and the x-ray, 110 was the doctor's fee and 15 euros cost the vaccines I had to have (one for mmr and one for tetanus). I don't know if Iatriko Athinon charges something more, but in any occasion it will not be more than 150 euros.

You will NOT have to pay anything at the airport!

Everything will be fine...you need to calm down! It is a long way, but people at the embassy understand the stress we are under and that our life depends on their decision. Be truthful, follow their instructions and you have nothing to worry about!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOnce I-129f is approved do you have to pay another fee with the I-160 for the interview?

Here in greece medical exam is 150. I saw somewhere on uscis site that u must pay 88$ for affidavit thing(i still cant pronounce it lol). So if u didnt pay it then i guess is not for us. Pfff all this process is soooo confusing !!

In Greece she paid a 184? visa fee.

The fees for the medical were 23? to the hospital, 110? to the doctor, and 15? for vaccinations. The vaccination fee may vary depending on what you need.

There is no $88 fee for the affidavit of support.

I don't know if the proccedure is somehow different for your kind of visa, but this is how it went with mine.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNo fingerprints taken at POE

hello,

sorry i am not replying particularly to your inquiry . i just find your posts very helpful. And by the way congratulations on your journey.. Well, as you know I have my own . I just want to ask you how long did it took before they call you for pic-up of visa after interview? I have completed everything last Marc 7 and it was updated  AP and then last Monday March 11 updated to READY in CEAC. Updated again on March 14 and again today but still in READY..

Did you experience this? you said that they called you for passport pick up .. when did they call you because I saw in your timeline it is exactly 2 weeks and that is what I was told but 2 weeks after then pick up or exactly 2 weeks for pick up . And did you do it during morning or afternoon I meant the pick up? Did they call you on mobile, home phone or email? sorry, about all this question as you have been there one day is a one day torture.. hoping you will find time to reply. thanks very much..

Did they keep your passport after the interview? Did they tell you that you have been approved? If they did, you have nothing to worry about. Status changing from AP to Ready and back is something normal.

They called me on the number I gave them during the inteview, which was my mobile (the first lady that took my papers and asked a few questions about my relationship, also asked me for my phone number). I received the phone call on the 10th day and I picked up the passport on the 14th day. It was a Friday. They told me to be there sometime between 8.30 and 12.00. I was there at 8.30 and done by 9.30! The Embassy is not open to the public after 12.30 in the afternoon.

Let me know if you need to ask anything else!

Good luck and stay strong! You're almost there smile.png

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDealing with a previous marriage in a high fraud country.

Thank you! Is Greece considered a "high fraud" country?

I don't think I can be there for the interview because of 'llmy job, so I am going to need to send him in with a lot of paperwork. Ironically, I'll be working in another Middle Eastern country when we suspect his interview willl be.

No, Greece is not considered to be a "high fraud" country and, despite that, they insisted on the fact that our divorces had not yet been finalized when we got engaged. All in a very polite and kind environment, but still the questions kept coming.

My experience in immigration so far tells me that we have to be honest and build up our "case" as completely as possible. So, gather all the evidence you can. The COs don't check them when they have no reason to, but if something does not seem right to them, they will ask for more evidence, so it is best for him to have everything available.

As for your tickets to Egypt, please, note, that they might not consider them evidence, since you also went there to work.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDealing with a previous marriage in a high fraud country.

Oh, God! I have been reading all the posts and it seems so complicated!

I can tell you that me, being Greek, had a long discussion at the Embassy about the fact that neither me or my finace had yet been divorced when we decided to take our relationship a step further and got engaged. We were both separated (him for more than a year and me for about 7 months) when this happened, but the CO had a lot of questions to ask me. She even wanted to know how I felt about getting involved in a serious relationship so soon after my separation.

My advise would be to be truthful, detail oriented and see if you could be there to attend the interview.

Good luck and stay strong!

I'm very sorry to read that...
I don't think that this will influence the visa procedure. I'm a recovering thyroid cancer patient myself. The embassy knew that and it did not matter.

I'm wishing you all the best, stay strong and keep the faith. There is nothing more important than health and love...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSurprise visit after K-1 sent in

You never know what is that little thing that makes the Officer hesitant to let you in. During my last visit, while waiting for the Visa interview, I had to go through second screening. I had everything with me (papers from NVC, showing that we have been approved, proof of ties (like my lease, credit card bills, utility bills etc), return ticket and so on). They didn't want to see any of this. They kept asking me the same questions over and over again, as quickly as they could, as if they were trying to catch me lying. Anyway, they let me in...

I, too, don't think that there is a reason for banning you. Banning occurs under very specific conditions.

Just an idea....would it be possible for your mother to add you to the lease?

My advice is (as everyone always says) be truthful and DO NOT volunteer any information. Let them ask you, before you say anything. That advice was given to me from a fellow VJer. I didn't follow it and...I had to go to the second screening!!!  :)  :)  :)

I hope everything works out! Good luck and enjoy your visit!
