Mexico, Latin & South AmericaHi, I'm from Peru
sorry for the delays in posting. What a busy couple of weeks. The wedding is done (now on to the AOS process). :) She is here in the US and while loving the US she is not so big on the cold. The average temperature for the last couple of weeks has been 22F. She thinks the snow is awesome as long as she can see it from inside the house :)

Hopefully I will be around a little more now (especially since I will need more help with the AOS). Glad the wedding is over, but everything turned out PERFECT. :) Veroka, we came back to the states on the 17th. Hopefully we can meet up in Columbus or Cleveland some time tho.

I need to go to that restaruant in Columbus (lived there up until this last february, now in cleveland). I miss ceviche and anticuchos, and I am the USC!!! :P

I too am interested in the process for a USC moving to peru and becoming a resident alien or citizen. It is something we are seriously considering in the 6 to 10 year time frame. First to get the K1 of course.... this IMBRA things is a royal pain in the yahoo....

did you know a new peruvian restaurant just opened up in cleveland? i am in michigan and have family in cleveland and am planning to check it out next time i'm down there. i would do anything to get a ronda criolla! it's called machu picchu (touristy name, huh?). http://www.machupicchucleveland.com/ if you go, let us know how the food is!

OMG!!!!!!! that is like 8 blocks from my JOB!!!!!!!! I know where lunch is going to be here soon. :) :) :)

Thank you!!! the menu looks muy riquisimo!!!!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)It's IN!
called this morning and mine hasn't arrived yet. I was hoping it would be there sooner then this, but I guess not. Actually I hope her interview isn't until late october or November as Peru prefers the Petitioner's presence and that lets me space out my flights from my visit next month ;)

USCIS Service CentersUSCIS Workload tranfer
Workload Transfer from Service Centers to Field Operations

USCIS wants to notify customers and stakeholders that some work that USCIS performs at the four USCIS service centers (Vermont, Nebraska, Texas and California) will be transferred to a Field Office or the National Benefits Center (NBC) in order to balance the overall workload with processing capacity. The chart below summarizes these changes.

Form Type Effective Date Previous Location New Location
I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card Aug. 15, 2012 Nebraska Service Center (NSC) National Benefits Center (NBC)
Stand-Alone Immediate Relative (IR) I-130, Petition for Alien Relative Aug. 15, 2012 all USCIS service centers Field Office with jurisdiction over the petitioner’s place of residence.
Interview-Waivable Family-Based I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status
Aug. 1, 2012 California Service Center (CSC) National Benefits Center

Effective Date of Changes
USCIS is implementing these changes using a “date-forward” approach, meaning that any work we received before the effective date indicated above will be completed by the previous location. Work we receive on or after the effective date will be completed by the new location.

Effect on Customers
As a result of these changes, customers may receive transfer notices, requests for evidence (RFE) notices, notices of decision, or other correspondence from a different USCIS location.

Stand-Alone Immediate Relative I-130s will be transferred from the Service Center to the National Benefits Center (NBC), and then routed to the appropriate Field Office. Customers will receive a notice indicating the case was transferred to the NBC, but that notice will not indicate the final local Field Office location.

Filing Location
The filing location for these forms will not change. Please continue to file the forms at the address noted on the Form instructions and on the Forms website on uscis.gov.

Case Inquiries
You may inquire about the status of your case online, by calling the National Customer Service Center, or making an InfoPass appointment. Please visit the usics.gov Contact Us page for more information.

Forms Glossary
Stand-Alone Immediate Relative (IR) I-130, Petition for Alien Relative
A stand-alone I-130 is filed on its own and is not filed concurrently with any other application (such as with an I-485). An immediate relative I-130 petition is one that is filed by U.S. citizens for a spouse, a child under age 21, or a parent (if the petitioner is 21 years old or older).

Interview-Waivable Family-Based I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status
Interview Waivable cases are family-based I-485s which USCIS has determined can be adjudicated without an interview. In the past, the NBC completed pre-processing of these cases and then transferred them to the California Service Center for adjudication. On Aug. 1, 2012, the NBC started to retain these cases for adjudication.

USCIS Service CentersCSC slowdown

contact everybody with any authority asap. it's criminal that the csc filers will now have to wait 90 days instead of 60 days. :P

isnt that the truth! While all of us @ VSC are 160-190 days!

USCIS Service CentersYour petition might be approved and you don't even know it
First let me start by saying sorry I dont want to be a downer! But does the letter say your service request was approved or does it say your petition was adjucated and your petition is approved???? Just wondering since I put in a service request last week and how many days did it take to get your letter in the mail???

USCIS Service CentersMay filers?

Thanks a lot. You know I am not the one that directly sends emails and calls and does stuff like that. Usually my husband is the one that takes care of it. When we submitted our request service (I think that's what he did) they answered back after 15 days more or less and told us they couldn't help us because we didn't write in the email the "code" of the people we talked to on the phone when we called to have info. I don't know if this makes any sense to you at all but this is what I understood and what my husband was able to explain to me. I still have an impediment when it comes to this kind of stuff! I am not even able to pay with my credit card if my husband is not there!
Anyways I let him do all the talking, calling and writing because everything is so different from what I am used to.

We've been waiting for 7 months. We contacted a senator that said he'd be looking into our case and asked us to wait 30-60 days (February is gonna be 60 days since he told us that).
What do you suggest we do next?
This website is a blessing, thanks a lot!

I have looked at your timeline. USCIS states they are currently processing May 28th petitions @ VSC. When I filed my service request it stated 5 months processing time and not a specific date. Since they are not within the 5 months time frame and are listing a specific date now they wont do a service request or any other until the date listed is your NOA1 date or after. Unfortunately there is not much more to do then wait. My NOA1 was May 18th and it was approved on Dec 12th. So it was 7 months for us also. Have your husband check your status on the website and go up and down with the last few numbers until the petition type changes. You will see what group you are in. Track them. If there are petitions of the same category as yours being approved in your group you can call USCIS and tell them that there are petitions with the same date as yours that are being approved and they will then allow you a service request. Have him go further when checking for dates after yours with approvals!!!! This will be your in for another service request!!!!!!!!

USCIS Service CentersMay filers?
cisombudsman@dhs.gov here is the email. I sent an email with all of my information including case number names DOB , phone calls made to USCIS etc. The Ombudsman works on behalf of the petitioner. If you feel you have not being treaated correctly or you are not getting approprite responses or you have exceeded the processing time. you can contact them and they will investigate for you and demand a response from USCIS. It only took them 7 days to get me an answer.

USCIS Service CentersMay filers?
Hi everyone. I just thought I would drop in and see what is still going on with the May filers @ VSC. I cannot believe there are still people waiting for approvals. I would imagine you have all put in a service request by now and if you have not PLEASE do so ASAP!!!! I had put one in on Nov 16th, of course I got a reponse in the mail within the 15 days saying my request was approved but I wasnt giving them any more time and contacted my Senator. After his inquiry I received my approval in 7 days. I had also sent the Ombudsman an email inquiry requesting assistance regarding the processing time and waiting for a decision and they also investigated ( but it was the day of my approval) so they closed the inquiry after notifying me of their findings!!!!!! SO there is help just keep on them. You are all in my prayers and I wish you much luck and success in your journeys!
