IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnyone here who recently got a PCC from India ?

Thanks. When i asked the NVC rep about Mumbai being the location for interview than New Delhi, she told me that the location of the interview is based on distance from Applicant's home address. So in our case wife lives in chennai and mumbai is closer than Newdelhi. It made sense. Same logic does not apply to your case so i have no idea why it is NewDelhi for your wife.

Wife got her PCC from the passport office for NVC in October 2013. Even though the I/L did not say to get a new PCC(from the passport office) for her interview on Feb 2014, i asked her to get another one so that she has a latest copy for her interview(Just in case). She did get one around Jan 15th and apparently no docs(PCC, Evidence) were asked during her VISA interview.

We are in Bangalore and are expecting to have to go to Mumbai for interview, does this mean that maybe we might go to Delhi?

Will I be allowed in with my hubby when he goes for interview? I heard Mumbai its not allowed?

Hey Guys.... WE ARE APPROVED APPROVE APPROVED- I posted my consulate review if you want more details!

I want to get sappy for a moment.. lol

We drove up to Montreal the night before our interview.. but with all the stuff we had to do during the day and my crappy out dated gps.. we didn't get there until about 11:00pm-11:30pm.. I was EXHAUSTED.. from the stress... from the drive.. fromw orking all day etc.. I was CRANKY.. lol Nathan wanted to grab some food/ see Montreal a bit. All I wanted to do was sleep lol. But I got changed and we walked down the street to try and find him some food.. We got turned away by about 6-7 places.. turns out everywhere closed at 11... With every person that turned us away... I got crankier and crankier.. I was so tired.. my feet hurt from my shoes...not my best moment. We were walking down to try one last place.. and Nathan looked at me..in my eyes.. in all my crankiness and said "Hey.... we are here together." And it was like he just reached out and smacked the cranky right off my heart... He was right. It is so important to enjoy the experience. He is by far the most amazing man I have ever met.. and my person.

Now that we are approved.. I find myself sitting at work.. thinking about my husband to be.. and my heart starts to beat a little faster.. and my eyes just fill with the happiest of tears,, I feel so unbelievably blessed.

The wait was hell.. but so worth it. I can't wait to start our next chapt... Best of luck everyone. Sorry for the cheese. ;)

Okay, this is absolutely...adorable. Congrats (L)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNew to this - where do I start?
I'm sure answers to all my questions lie within these forums, but I'm just so confused by all of it. I am a Canadian citizen and am planning to marry my US citizen girlfriend, then move to Ohio to live with her. I've been searching the web for about a month just trying to find a couple basic things regarding the process; First, a step by step of all the forms and procedures in chronological order from step zero to green card in hand, and being a permanent US Resident with no more immigration processes to go through. There are so many forms on all the websites and they are all mixed in with various other applications and forms for all types of visas. It makes for a very confusing read. I just want to know, step by step, which forms and applications need to be filed and when. Also, and this probably goes hand in hand with the step by step, we'd like to know all the associated fees for the forms we're filing. Most every form and application pertaining to this process seems to have a price tag on it, but most seem to just say 'there is a fee' and direct you to a table of fees that doesn't always tell you what costs what. We're just trying to save up to do this, but we have no idea what its going to cost beyond the initial $420 to file the I-130. I'm sure if things we explained in plainer english I would get this much more easily, but researching is just frying my brain and making me more confused, and lawyers around here are charging $200/hr just to ask a few questions... Please help...

So am I going to have to print and send in the entire history? At this point, it's well over 3000 pages. Or can I just send, say, the first 25 pages of each month to show an actual ongoing relationship, and add a note stating that the full transcripts are available if needed?

Ok that sounds way less daunting. Another question I had regarding evidence, my fiancee and I have only spoken on the phone twice, but I have thousands of pages saved containing every single text message we've exchanged (thank god we used an app that allows me to email my full conversations as text documents and decided to save them. Must have known subconsiously that I'd be needing them...). Will I need to print this entire history, or will a CD (or electronic submission of some sort) containing our text history in PDF format be sufficient? I also have and am including copies of receipts for items I've purchased online for her (flowers, etc), emails, photos, affidavits, etc.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR-1 / IR-1 Visa Application Questions

As we're getting closer to the point of beginning to mail the I-130 package in, I'm doing a little further pre-reading about what the next steps will be and what we will need. I'm reading things about submitting forms (OF-169, OF-230) via mail as opposed to electronically (OF-260) and whether I am obligated to file electronically. I will be going through the interview process in Montreal Canada, so it appears to state I MUST file electronically. Here is the issue; the electronic forms want exact dates for all residences from the age of 16 as opposed to just month/year for the paper forms. I honestly have no idea what the exact dates were, though I can come very close (generally they are the first of the month). Will that be good enough? Also, they are asking for the dates of all visits to the US. I live in Windsor Ontario, approximately 3 minutes from Detroit. If I had to venture a guess, I've been to the US hundreds of times over the course of my life. There is no possible way to know all the dates/durations of every visit I have made. I can probably give them dates and durations of all visits since meeting my fiancee last summer, but beyond that I have no idea. Is this going to be an issue? Do I really need to list every single visit I have made in my life? I'm just trying to be as prepared as possible to make this go as smoothly and quickly as I can.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresName Change and the Application Process

My US citizen fiancee and I are getting married in just under a month, and we plan on sending the I-130 package the following day. My question is in regards to her name change; she plans on going to change her name at the Social Security office, DMV, etc. the following day as well. Should we have her maiden name or married name on all the documents we send in? The name change process should be complete for most institutions by the time the I-130 package is received, but we're trying to avoid any possible complications or delays.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNot being able to visit the USA during the I-13O process?

I'm in the same boat as you on this one...

Ah yeah it's pretty frustrating.. we mainly thought it would be a good idea just because so far we have done everything ourselves so we just wanted to make sure we seek help from a 'professional' but somehow it's made us more confused / worried! aaaah

We did the same thing, we did everything by ourselves but would still contact our lawyer for advice. We researched on here before we met with him, so we had a pretty good understanding how everything worked. Once we initially talked to him, we decided to just go on our own. Yesterday (11 months after first speaking with him), we had some questions and he just stopped responding to both of us, ha. The answers he was giving just did not make sense at all, and when we questioned him about it, he just didn't respond, which I'm assuming because he didn't know the answer. Moron...

Ha, you're better off just coming on here and asking.

Attorneys surprisingly do not know much it seems about the process, as mine yesterday proved when he just stopped responding to my emails/questions....professional :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 EXPEDITE

Probably first thing in the morning if you don't want to wait very long. May I ask how fast they got back to you that they approved your expedite after you submitted it? I put in an expedite request almost 10 days ago and haven't heard anything.

I put a service request for an expedite on Jan 17th and received a response on the 21st...so I would maybe follow up.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAugust 2013 K-1 Filers

I just checked the embassy website and it says we can expect to wait 6 weeks to hear from them after submitting the Applicant Readiness form. My understanding is that they then send a letter with an interview date one month later, so about I'm hoping the worst case scenario is 10 weeks from submitting until interview.

Thanks for that :-)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAugust 2013 K-1 Filers

hello guys

according to our experience NVC did not send us any e-mail. USCIS sent packet to NVC on 22 November, and NVC received it on 29 November but we called them and they gave us the case number. we did not receive any e-mail from them. and yesterday on 3 December NVC sent packet to the embassy.

when you call the NVC and if they ask you to tell them petitioner's and beneficiary's date of birth it means they have case number.

if they dont ask you to provide that info it means they have no case number yet

good luck

Thanks :-)

Hi John&Britt,

TSC shipped our case on 11/21 and they received it on 12/02. I've been hearing from others also it's about 10 calendar days from shipping give or take a few. I was calling a few days before and they didn't have it, but then last night, bingo! They gave me the case number over the phone after I provided some info. They will mail you the info but you can get it a lot faster on the phone and then be able to track its progress.

Thanks very much!!

Hi All,

First off, thanks for the help this topic has been!!

I just wanted to know approximately how long it takes for NVC to receive my file after being sent out by USCIS? It was sent out yesterday (2nd December), so not sure when to call.

Also, do we have to call to get our case number or do we get an e-mail?

Thank you!!

Thanks for the info imsantosh!

When I look on Igors List it seems that there is quite a few people still waiting for approval who got their NOA1 on the 14th August...I really would like to know why some approvers are so much faster than others.

I shouldn't complain though as I know there is still a number of pre-August petitions still to be approved, but I'm just a very impatient person :-)

Hey guys, saw this in one of the thread. Thought I'd share it here too.

Effective immediately, all K visa applicants are required to complete the DS-160 Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application. The DS-160 replaces forms DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-230.

For K visa cases already in process at a U.S. embassy or consulate, the DS-160 is not required when, prior to October 7, 2013, one of the following situations exist:
  • The K visa applicant is already scheduled for an interview.
  • The K visa applicant has already been interviewed and has been requested to submit additional documentation or is pending administrative processing.
  • The K visa applicant has already submitted a valid, signed, unexpired DS-156, DS-156K and/or DS-230 or received instructions to do so.
  •

Thanks N&P!!

Does anyone know the approx. time for Texas? I'm guessing a lot of August filers are being sent straight there rather than Vermont or Cal.

Yea, I think there was a backlog of I-129F forms at Vermont...I may be totally wrong though!! From what I am reading though, things are starting to get back on track.

We got a hardcopy for the NOA1 but never an e-mail. We both put in G-1145 forms but obviously didn't work!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Certificate Name spelling difference
My fiancee (Canadian Citizen) has her original birth certificate, but on it her first name is spelled differently than on all of her other credentials. They mistyped it on her certificate adding an extra letter. My question is how much of a problem will this be? Do we simply list this as one of the "Other Names Used" on the I-130?

It makes me nervous....

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMOVING TO THE US ASAP
Hello guys,

I'll go straight to the point - and before I start, thanks to all that keep this forum going and helping us visa newbies -:

I am german, my wife is american. We got married in the US in September 2011 and at that time I had a job in the UK, so that's where we live.

My wife has UK residency - valid for the next 5 years - and soon after i got made redundant in June 2012, she found a job here.

Now, her mom's health condition has become quite poor, and we have decided to move to the US as soon as possible. We are aiming for June, but reading other threads seems pretty impossible. What do you guys recommend? is it DCF visa the way to go? is it actually quicker?

We can get a sponsor easily, as we'd have to look for jobs after the move.

Thanks so much!

Lady, it is what it is. If the reason, the sole reason is the processing time that is causing you to cancel please reconsider.

There is probably more to it than meets the eye. Why give up when you are so close to the end?

I just got the status "Ready" too! I know that some Embassies schedule the interview for you and some you have to make the appointment on your own. I would read up on your Embassy profile here on Visa Journey to find out what your next step is.

With the particular Embassy that my Petition is going through they schedule it and send via regular mail the packet with the information and the date in it, but I was told to call or email them as soon as the status changes to "Ready" to ask when the appointment is so that we can prepare the necessary paperwork and not miss it.

Just checked the status today and now it says it's on the truck for delivery again. Hopefully, this time around the Embassy won't refuse the shipment. lol

Here's a good one, the Embassy that they shipped my package to via DHL is coming up as "Recipient Refused Delivery". So, I'll be calling the NVC today to find out what is going on with my package. The last thing I need is for it to get lost ya know?

Hi Ean,

To track your package from the NVC to the Embassy you would go onto www.dhl-usa.com, click on "Track by Shipper's Reference" that is on the left side of the screen. Enter in EXP [day that it was sent] [three letter month abbreviation that it was sent] then 2014A. For example EXP 10 FEB 2014A.

You can get an idea of when it was sent if you were tracking it on the CEAC website and it said "In Transit". I would try the day before or the day after it updated to "In Transit".

It's really neat how we can track these things. Most take less than a week to arrive at the Embassy that they are going to. It will at least help in knowing how quickly you need to start getting your Affidavit of Support to the Beneficiary and stuff.

Hope it helps out!

How do you track it once it leaves nvc?

I'm so glad that some of us are going through the same things at the same time here. It's very helpful. The questions that others are asking help quite a few of us here. THANK YOU!

I'm in the process of tracking our package that left the NVC a few days ago heading to the embassy already.

Does anyone know if you don't email/call the embassy as soon as they receive it how long it takes to actually hear from them or receive their packet of information in the mail?

I finally got a case number from the NVC...woooohoooo! I guess everyone on here was right, you just have to keep calling and calling and calling until they finally assign you one.

Anyways, in regards to the USPS mail I've been noticing that things that normally take a week to get to Peru are now taking up to three weeks being sent regular mail. I'm wondering if it's because of all the bad weather that has been taking place all over the U.S.? That could be slowing down the mail I would think. So, if you're expecting that Valentine's Day card and it doesn't show up today don't worry it will show up someday! biggrin.png
