Welcome to VisaJourney. We have had 100 % success but it was not easy. In fact it was very hard as far as all the waiting but that is nothing if you really want it - we are happily together. You need to educate yourself and you found the right website to do it. Look through this website and you will find a wealth of information at your fingertips. If you or your fiance have not had any overstays or problems regarding USCIS or US laws in general, I would say it should go fairly well for you.

The PDF fillable feature is very helpful...however....when I print the form, there are little black plus signs in fields indicating additional information is not shown. It is also covering up some of my dates. Should I write out each form in long hand instead...please advise. :help:

Good afternoon all. I feel so blessed to have found this site. Already, I have learned a lot by just reading some of the posts. I have question. I noticed that most people here are filing the K-1 Visa without an attorney. Or, I should say no one mentions using an a lawyer. Has anyone been successful in filing this way. Next...can one of the senior members detail a list of lingo used in the timelines? For instance, what is NOIA? I see that a lot. It would be helpful because I am preparing my K-1 application for my Ghanaian fiance. Oh one more question...I just got back from Ghana and cannot bear going and leaving my fiance again. It was really tough. But, do you think we will have a better chance if I visited again?

It has now been over 120 days since I sent in our I-129F. I noticed that the adjudicated date on my timeline keeps getting moved further away. How can we possibly plan if the date keeps moving? Why does the date keep changing? Does anyone suggest that I should call USCIS? I was reading another post and it said that the petitioner was told their application was lost. If I call USCIS will they at least tell me if its in their possession? I am so frustrated with this wait. crying.gif Any other June filers out there, please feel free to share any good news.

Do I just wait again for further instructions from NVC? Hello everyone,

Does anyone know what is the best way to find out if our petition has been forwarded and/or received at the Embassy in Ghana? I received a letter from NVC stating that "within a week, the petition will be forwarded". Since correspondence is going over seas, I am sure NVC must have a way of tracking what it sent? It is already expensive $$$$$$$ to call my fiance', so I really do not want to spend money calling the Embassy, only to be put on hold.

Any ideas or direction is welcomed.

I received an email from the Embassy in Ghana. It states:

Thank you for your email dated November 30, 2007.
Our records indicate that this case has been loaded into our system. Once we receive the actual file a letter will be sent asking the applicant to come in to the Consulate.

Receive the actual file? What does this mean? I thought that the actual file is at the Embassy. Or at least according to the DHL website it should be.

Any information would be helpful.

I have a couple of quick questions to ask while waiting for happy news from Efia smile.gif. I am going over the I-134 one more time before I send it to Samuel for his interview. I just noticed that under Roman numeral II. Supporting Evidence, its states, "the sponsor must submit in duplicate evidence of income and resources". This is going to sound like a really silly question, and I am probably reading too much into this, but does that simply mean to make several copies of everything I send? The next question is pertaining to #3 on the form which asks for the address where Samuel presently resides. On the initial petition we listed a p.o. box where we thought he would get his mail. However, as some of you already know, the mail never made it to that p.o. box. So, I am wondering if I should use the actual physical address of his house or remain consistent with what we initially used?

I was in a panic for nothing. A lot of his family is here in Boston and will be in Ghana in December 2009. He wants me and my family to prepare to be there then for the ceremony. Now, I just have to figure out how to get me, my son, my mother and probably half of the rest of my family to Ghana! I guess one day I will look back on this and say it was all worth it.

I think an engagement ceremony in Ghana is a family thing. We did not have one. But I have heard of couples doing them. As far as I know, its basically an opportunity for the family to meet you, eat, drink and be merry. You can make it as formal or as casual as you want.

If Samuel's family has done one beofre maybe you can get some ideas from them. On the same note, you can decide what you want the ceremony to include. Maybe his tribe has specific things that are done at an engagement ceremony. His sisters would be a good source of information for this.

I just spoke with Samuel and he has explained to me that the Engagement Ceremony is a very important event to his family. I never worried about this because Samuel always seemed so non-traditional in his ways and never brought it up. I have heard you guys talk about it and now, I need to know what to do. Is there anyone who has participated in the ceremony? What am I supposed to do? What do I wear and say? Is there a book or video I can watch. He has a lot of sisters, so will they help me?

Hi anja,

From my understanding,you will be fine with your extension letter,valid passport and your expired green card.You should be receiving your biometrics appointment soon and you don't wanna miss that because it's very important.If I were you I will just wait for the appointment notice,get it done and after that no more worries you just check the status of your application online.

I'm still waiting for my biometrics appointment. I applied for removal just before Christmas last year and I filed with CSC. The NOA was as fast as I had expected it but since then, I have heard nothing. crying.gif
But I still have until the end of December for the year to be over for the extension period. If I have to wait that long, I will probably have to take some action and make some phone calls. I can try to be patient until October. Then I will call...

We were told that my application had been "missed' somehow, but that they had located it now and put it at the bottom of the pile, and I should get the invitation for biometrics within 3 months! Within a week I got the letter, and was fingerprinted etc on 19th Jan
Then deafening silence.
On 2nd March I completed the 6 months waiting, so following the advice of the case stus site, I called uscis on 9thMarch.
I got a kid who said it will take time cos we are processing June applications. I pointed out that the site says 6 months, so he says Oh sorry! the site is all out of date. You need to wait at least 6 months.
On 11th March I got the letter saying 'Congratulations!!! Your card has been ordered."
I have written in so much detail, just to reassure you guys who are still waiting,that inspite of what case status says, inspite of the response or lack of it from the 800 #, they are working on your case, and your day will come too.

I am starting to become anxious because I have not heard anything after receiving the NOA in the first week of January. I know that the letter says that the greencard will be extended for a year, but still, it is just weird not hearing anything at all.

I am curious about the normal procedure. After sending it to the CSC what happens then? Who will send me the biometrics letter? is the delay happening at the CSC or at the local office?

What are your thoughts on this?

I'm a little shocked by how slow the CSC is now. My brother applied for his wife in April, went to CSC and was approved in less than 80 days. And at that point I think Vermont was over a month behind CSC. I just mailed my K1 in two days ago. Hopefully things pick up after the start of the new year.

I sent my K1 packet last week. It arrived at Saturday in Dallas, and the delivery confirmation says it was actually received Sunday night (which I thought was strange). You're not understanding the volume chart correctly. That tracks the number of petitions received and approved in those months. There is nothing in the volume chart that says which months they are working on at any given time.

Well, we are like so many of the others. NOA2 on May 22nd and NVC has no record of it yet. My patience is growing thin to say the least. I can't believe that the CSC is sitting on approved petitions for a month before sending them off!

So sad Patrick went to talk to his Senator's office in Rapid, and they said they can call them but it does not mean they will expedite it....how much longer do we have to wait...this Sunday it will be 5full months...;(

Shouldn't be much longer. We got ours a few days after 5 months. I know historically this time of year the Centers are working a little quicker, but the volume must be heavy this year. 5 months seems to be a fair average right now.

This is my second time through the K1 process and the first time was so smooth, I got spoiled. 80 days for NOA2 last time, and of course that was just long enough for the relationship to fall apart. This time, the relationship is so much stronger, so much better...and now we're waiting over 5 months for this stupid thing! I wrote to my Congressmen over the weekend, and I'll be calling the service center today after work. I keep thinking, "ok, today must be the day..." but still nothing.
