K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMeeting evidence for students at the same university
My fiancee and I made copies of our student ID's to show we were both students at our college at the same time. Your college can also give you some type of confirmation of enrollment listing all the semesters you were there and the number of credits you took. You could get one for each of you and highlight shared semesters. The visa stamps to show travel together will be good along with pictures labelled with dates, and where they were taken. Depending on what country you are applying for these might be superfluous or not enough, where is your fiance from?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long have you been 'together'?
You don't need to know someone for 2 years, you need to have met them in person at least once in the 2 years before you filed.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures2-year rule waiver from j1 & applying for k1
Is this rule applicable for all of those kinds of visas from England? Or was this a special one?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshow much longer do i have to wait?
Once we were at this stage we had 7 months left until my husband (than fiance) got his visa, although our timeline was a little drawn out by some embassy medical issues. I would say you probably have at least 3-4 months maybe more to go.

And although it probably doesn't help much, everyone else on this forum is in the same boat as you just wanting to see the and be with the one they love, you'll get through it and soon be happy together permanently.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIncome Question
Just to add, you can probably do the filing yourself with the guides provided on this site provided you have a relatively simple case. Lawyers can do little to help the process and mainly fill out the same paperwork you can do for free.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChurch marriage after having K-1 visa in hand

Please, you need to understand that a church wedding is NOT recognized in Ukraine. The only valid way to get married is at the ZAGS office... as long as you do not do the ZAGS wedding you are not officially married

That may be true, but what a USCIS official thinks of what looks like a wedding might be a different story. I have heard of people on these boards that had even just an engagement ceremony that looked like a wedding and they had trouble.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChurch marriage after having K-1 visa in hand
If you marry in the Ukraine before she gets here then she is no longer a fiancee but a wife and the visa would be void.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMultiple touches but no NOA2
You will be ok. At least with an RFE you know that they are working on your case and as soon as you send back whatever they want then your case will resume and will probably be approved shortly.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMultiple touches but no NOA2

Thank you Muffin and Maven. It's not a big deal. :)

amykathleen -- that makes me feel a little better. You got a whole bunch of touches and then the NOA2?

We got two touches in a row but no update (and still not updated online 7 months later), but the touches turned out the be an approval because the snail mail approval was sent that day.

Same happened to us with no online update to say NOA2 but we got it in the mail a few days later.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCivil Ceremony Before K1 is approved?
If you will be married at the end of it then you are no longer a fiance and no longer qualify for the visa, simple as that.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiling I-129F from Thailand
I believe that you need an American mailing address for correspondence on the NOA1 and NOA2.

A touch is an update to your case in the system. On the online updates the date will change and that is a "touch". Doesn't really mean anything but can sometimes mean action on your case.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFEE WAIVER
The question then will be how will you keep your spouse to be from being a public charge in America and complete the Affidavit of Support when you can't afford a few fees? I am not saying that it isn't hideously expensive, but the government is going to think if you can't spring for the the $455 then you can hardly support someone else.

18 or younger with parental permission from both parties because you are both underage. You will also need to be able to meet the sponsorship requirements to be 125% over the poverty guidelines to receive the visa. You might use a cosponsor if your embassy will accept them.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Certificates
From the US Dept. of State Website:
Info

"Each applicant will need to obtain an original birth certificate issued by the official custodian of birth records in the country of birth, showing the date and place of birth and the parentage of the alien, based upon the original registration of birth.

The certificate must contain the:

Person’s date of birth
Person’s place of birth
Names of both parents, and
Annotation by the appropriate authority indicating that it is an extract from the official records
Unobtainable birth certificates

The applicant’s birth record may not be obtainable. Some reasons are listed below:

The applicant’s birth was never officially recorded.
The applicant’s birth records have been destroyed.
The appropriate government authority will not issue one.
Please obtain a certified statement from the appropriate government authority stating the reason the applicant’s birth record is not available. With the certified statement the applicant must submit secondary evidence. For example:

A baptismal certificate that contains the date and place of birth, as well as both parents names (providing the baptism took place shortly after birth)
An adoption decree for an adopted child
An affidavit from a close relative, preferably the applicant’s mother, stating the date and place of birth, both parents names, and the mother’s maiden name.
Note: An affidavit must be executed before an official authorized to take oaths or affirmations. More specific information is available from the NVC."

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Certificates
The embassy will most likely have a list of alternative documents if a birth certificate is unavailable, such as a baptismal record, etc.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAh I just realised I'm a big idiot!
I agree, the officer looking it over at USCIS probably doesn't know any better either. I always put down North Yorkshire as my husband's province just to be more specific when it is in fact a county and no one said anything.

He can be more specific when he fills his paperwork out for the interview where the office will be familiar with the area itself.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHome Residency Requirement for the K-1?
Yep, I believe this is if you had a J student visa in the past which is effectively your government sponsoring you to come to the US to learn and then bring what you learned back you would have to stay in your country for 2 years per the residency requirement unless you got a waiver. You would know if you had this requirement.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresScanned versus original
They usually like original signatures. The officer reviewing your case may or may not have a problem with the scan or realize that the signature is not an original and RFE you, but they might not.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust beginning
No bio needed, just the I-134 filled out by the cosponsor and their documents such as taxes (transcripts or full copies with W-2's and 1099 forms) for the past 3 years, paystubs, bank letters, letters of employment, etc. You will also need to prove their citizenship so you will need a copy of their passport bio page or birth certificate.

You will still need to do the I-134 for yourself even if you do not make enough money.

Be sure to check this out K-1 Guide

For now you just need the I-129F the G 325A in terms of forms. Save the other stuff for the interview. The guide will tell you more about what the initial application needs.

The income related things you do not need until later. You may or may not consider a co-sponsor, especially if your income does not show up on your tax returns.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Petition, Photo Presentation
You really don't have to overload with many photos for the initial petition (although a few are fine) at least for the UK. Bring as many as you want to the interview but they probably will not even ask for them.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHELP! i need the help from a trusted member
Just say you are calling about a case status. They will mostly ask for both of your names (especially since you do not have a number yet). Then they will go into their computers to see if anything shows up. If it does they will give him the case number and you can check online from then on (although it is not always up to date). If not they I would advise you refile because it sounds as though they didn't get your package. Did he send it with tracking to see it was received?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Questions
The bank question is just referring to anything in a bank whether it be checking or savings. Include anything you have if you need to to meet the poverty guidelines.

The NOA1 date is the notice date.

That will be more than enough to file, you only need to prove you were in the same country at the same time. Photographs are considered secondary evidence anyways. You may want to go in the meantime to get some pictures for the interview.

I think that is referring to you in your work capacity. You can do it as a private citizen.

For my work as an AmeriCorps member I am not allowed to do anything to do with lobbying or registering voters in official capacity. But I am allowed to as a private citizen.

Well he will have to wait until his AP is approved which can take around 60 days before he is allowed to leave and come back in. But your AOS may be almost approved by then. You do not need to know where he is going when you file.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresForms signed in blue ink!!!!!! Help

No its not a problem.

Some people have gotten RFE for signing in black ink, they thought the black ink was a copy and not an actual signature. So signing in blue was a better idea so they see that its an actual signature.

I agree, blue can sometimes be better because it is definitely not a copy (unless you have a good color printer, lol)

Just a note that if their income in itself is sufficient to meet the poverty guidelines than you don't even have to fill out the parts about mortgages and investments. That is optional.

Just general advice to everyone, never buy your ticket until you have the visa in hand.

You will probably get it in time, but there have been those that have been delayed for whatever reason. Did you pay to have it express mail?
