They really only have a few different options so the status sometimes bounces around. Just drop off the passport as instructed, your visa is ready!

They only usually want your passport if they are going to stick your visa in it!

You need to file for an IR1 visa. He will go through the process and the interview and will be denied because of the ban. Then you will file a waiver which will hopefully be approved.

Usually if they have the passport they are planning on putting the visa in it.

My fiance has diabetes and as a result has some cuts and scars and his arms and legs which tend to not heal up. Is this a concern or possibly cause of worry for the medical?

I don't have experience calling the London embassy. I have heard vaguely if you have set plans you might be offered an earlier date. But I am sure that most of the people in the same position would also like to be with their loved onces as quickly as possible as well....

Hi everyone,

My fiance is having his medical soon. He has diabetes and with this has scars and cuts on his arms and mainly on his legs. Because of the diabetes everything takes awhile to heal. Do you think this will be a problem with the medical?

United Kingdomnotarized letter of intent
QUOTE (lirwin2000 @ Nov 14 2009, 05:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
On the iv-15 check list it states if over 4 months has passed we need notarized letters of intent to marry. Do we both need to write a letter and get it notarized or just the USC?

You as the beneficiary do not need a letter of intent because that intent is implied by signing the forms at the interview and attending the interview in the first place.

United KingdomA little confused about the interview letter re:medical
Well you have to have access to the internet to go to the Packet 3 link and that link states to go to the medical page for more information. I agree that they could make it clearer.

The new policy I believe is that you need the actual medical before the interview.

United KingdomEyesight in the Medical
My fiance went to his medical a week ago. Apparently the doctor gave him a little bit of a hard time about his eyesight and required a not from his doctor about his eyes. He can obviously see, and I didn't think that good eyesight was a requirement for the visa. He is a bit concerned about her being a bit nit-picky about this.

Why do they need a letter for this? I find it a bit odd.

United KingdomHow old financial info?
Hi everyone,

I send my I-134 to my fiance in October as many people here suggested to make sure he had it should an interview be scheduled quickly. However, our interview is now scheduled for January 14th. Is it ok that the financial information is a few months old? Obviously the taxes will be the same and I could include some newer paystubs, but the letters from employers and the bank were difficult to get the first time.

What do you think? Presumably having paystubs from the same employer would mean that nobody lost their job in that time.

United KingdomNHS care for spouse on UK visits
I was visiting the UK as a study abroad student. Although I had traveller's health insurance as specified by the school when I tried to go to a medical center for swimmer's ear I was told because I could even be seen I had to pay them 80 pounds to see the doctor and would be reimbursed later. I was like WHAT! Forget it. I ended up going to a walk up center that saw me immediately with a nurse who gave me the medicine I needed for my ear.

So basically in my experience it depends on where you go.

The embassy works in spurts on different types of visas, and they don't necessarily go in order. They will get to it. Just call them everyday.

United KingdomMedical GP Letter
Hi everyone,

My fiance had his interview in January and was approved pending a letter from his GP to supplement the medical. Because he was in the middle of moving it took forever for his medical records to be forwarded and for the new doctor to write him the letter. The letter will be sent this week. Does anyone know if this timespan from the interview to the embassy receipt of the letter and medical information will be a problem? Is there a deadline of some kind that I don't know about?

Thanks.

Does anyone know a timeframe from when the embassy receives the additional medical information to visa issue?

So called DOS, the embassy has the medical info and the passport (the passport was entered as having been received yesterday although it should have been there a week or so ago). Nothing new yet, the girl I talked to today looked to see if the visa has been printed yet but it hadn't. Don't really know where we stand other than that.

Yeah, I agree with this. Which is why I flipping hate it when DOS is so ambiguous and tells you that you're in AP and nothing else...even if there is something to tell you, like that lady I talked to a couple of weeks ago who told me there were no statuses or anything written on the computer or wherever they look when the day before they said there was a status about the embassy sending David a letter. I hate how they mess with people's lives and withhold information probably no better reason than for arrogance and superiority...you know, the God complex. I mean, why else would they one day tell you information and then the next day refuse the same information?!

Well that's good to know. You would think they could at least think of a better term for it instead of borrowing another word for something that it is not. I wish I knew a rough timeline of what to expect. The embassy has all the medical information now, but I don't know when to expect a decision.

It seems when you call DOS it totally depends who answers the phone as to what answers you get. I called once and got a nice girl I think I've talked to before who said we were in AP, today I called and another woman answered who just said the embassy had the medical stuff and didn't mention AP at all.

I just called the DOS this morning and was told our visa had not yet been issued. But minutes later I get an email from my fiance to find the visa/passport had just been delivered to him from the courier. It just seemed odd the DOS didn't know what was going on at all. They never mentioned it being issued, or printed or being delivered....

Has anyone else has this experience???

I would send all the forms and the checklist again together. As you have correctly stated you should have waited and sent them together. The embassy and USCIS are infamous for not being able to correctly match up things that were seperated.

Good luck.

United KingdomVisa process and relationship strain
For myself I tried not to let things bother me as much when we were apart. I know that things people say especially in print may not be exactly what they mean or what I take them to mean because you have very little contextual clues to base them on.

Now that we are married I tell myself every day that I am so lucky to be with him and that we have been through such a long process just to be together that I am not going to get upset over something petty.

United KingdomIs 9 months enough time?
We had a straightforward case as well and because of a little snafu with the medical it took us a total of 10 months from mailing to having the visa in hand. You never know what is going to happen. I would say wait, you don't want to waste even more money if you have to cancel the date that you planned.

For future reference, with swimmer's ear all you need is rubbing alcohol to cure it. Tilt the head, pour it in, wait a few seconds, then drain it out.

Really? They gave me some weird spray that you had to put in the refrigerator...

I was visiting the UK to study abroad and got swimmer's ear. I went to the local surgery to try and get something to help. Even with my traveler's health insurance they wanted me to pay 80 pounds right then and there before I was even allowed to talk to the doctor. Needless to say I walked out. I did end up finding a clinic where the nurse took me for free and gave me the spray for my ear for no charge.

IndiaWhere to stay in Chandigarh?
I always fly into Delhi and hire a car from Delhi to Chandigarh and back. It makes for a long journey I think 5-7 hours but that is our preferred method. They do have that new airport in Chandigarh now so that is an option but just keep in mind that you have to exit the international airport and go to the domestic one. (Too confusing for me). We stay with his family so sorry I'm not familiar with any hotels in the area. Just be careful when you stay in the hotels. Stay alert and scope the room. Make sure there are no hidden cameras, etc. We're going in two weeks so I can't wait. My first Dilwali!

P.S. Happy Birthday. =)

IndiaAnyone with experience with US Tourist Visa from India?
It's very hard to get a U.S. tourist visa from India. Even if you have strong ties to India. They just look at the red flags and say no. My sister in law is unmarried and not working and that's an automatic denial. His parent's finally got their visas but they are retired. If he has a job and has some type of proof that he'll return then he might get approved. Just be prepared if he doesn't get it.
