US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionBrazil cosponsors?
I was not implying Brazil would not accept a cosponsor. I just wanted to clarify that not every consulate does as you implied when you stated "The co-sponsor rule it's a USA rule and goes for everyone" which is an untrue statement.

Does anyone know if the Brazil consulate accepts cosponsors? I'm a student, but we have my mom and brother willing to help us out as cosponsors. I've looked on here and on the consulate website, but can't find anything that says they do or that they don't.

We're definitely hoping that they do!
Thanks for any help!

Hi,
Actually, who accepts the co-sponsor is the USA not Brazil Consulate, plus, our interview is at American Embassy/Consulate in Rio. The co-sponsor rule it's a USA rule and goes for everyone wink.gif
In short words, USA wants you to co-sponsor your fiancee and future wife to make sure she won't be a government problem in the future, or claim free healthy assistance and so on. (it makes you or the co-sponsor responsible for her financially until she became a Citizen if she wants to, even if you get a divorce).
Hope it helps,
Beinha

P.S.: As "you to co-sponsor" I mean you or your parents if you can't prove the amount listed on their list: Form I-864P.pdf "I-864P, Poverty Guidelines"

Not every consulate does accept cosponsors. Also the sponsor is the one who makes sure the fiancee will not be a problem, the cosponsor is only necessary when the sponsor cannot totally fulfill this themselves.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSent to London, what do I do with this number?
I just called NVC hoping to hear that my K1 had arrived there safe and sound, but when I called the lady said not only had it arrived, but it was on its way to London. She gave me the following number: LND2009764***. What does it mean? Can I do anything with it? She didn't say when the petition had left NVC so I don't know what date to put in my timeline....maybe I should call back.

This seems so quick, we were only approved on the 16th. Can it be this fast?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAm I a dependent for the Affadavit of Support?
I am currently living at home with my mom because I have just graduated college. I have always been claimed on her tax returns. Right now I have my own full time job and have also been filing my own returns for the past two years. My question is for the Affidavit of Support (she is my co-sponsor) should I be listed as one of her dependents? If so am I wholly or partially dependent?

I am the USC petitioner so I will be submitting my own Affidavit of Support as well.

Considering your fiance will be handing it to them anyways it could be the total wrong street address for all it matters.

I don't think so. I am looking at the DS-156 the one that makes the barcode and then when you print everything out there is a place for the signature, and it says "41. I certify that I have read and understood all the questions set forth in this application and the answers I have furnished on this form are true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief. I understand that any false or misleading statement may result in the permanent refusal of a visa or denial of entry into the United States. I understand that possession of a visa does not automatically entitle the bearer to enter the United States of America upon arrival at a port of entry if he or she is found inadmissible."but I can't find where it says not to sign.

The VJ directions for Packet 3 state not to sign the DS-156 of Packet 3. However, no where in the actual directions for this form does it say not to sign it. Am I missing something?

Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionProof of name change since birth
Quick question. My mom is cosponsoring for the Affidavit of Support. I know we both need to send proof of citizenship. I have my mom's birth certificate, but she was married and obviously her last name has been changed when she was married. How do I show her birth certificate is her when they are different last names?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat to include with I-134
Ok, I have been through these forums and have had so much conflicting information on what exactly needs to accompany the I-134 (London embassy).

So far both my mom and I have:
-Letters from employers
-Past pay stubs
-Letters from bank stating deposits

What else do we need?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 help
History means very little if she doesn't have the money now. Although the consulate MAY look at previous tax returns to show history, it is the now that matters. So if in the time she has been in the US this year she has made more than enough to support both of you 125% above the line of poverty then she does not need a job at the time the affidavit is filed (theoretically). If not, she should keep her job or get a co-sponsor if your consulate accepts them.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Question
I don't know about the IRA part, but theoretical employment has no merit with the I-134, either you have the money now, or you don't basically. I could be a doctor in a few years, but that doesn't mean that I absolutely will or that I will find a job when I complete the program.

You will need a co-sponsor.

Hey Everyone,

I have question...my fiance's interview is end of next month. I was debating if I should fly back for his interview date. does it make any difference if I go?
I had talked to the consulate and he said it doesn't matter if I go or not..b/c they will only interview my finace.

Thanks for your help

If you have the means to go, then GO! I know a gal who got interviewed too when she showed up, went to the window with him and it helped her case.

Hi guys!!

This thread is full of valueable information and thank you for all contributers. I really really appreciate it.
My Noa2 got approved yesterday and I am waiting for the hardcopy of it. In the mean time i saw this thread and have got couple of questions for you guys.

First, do i have to send aything to NVC or do USCIS forwards my file ( noa2) to NVC ?

Second, on question 3 it asks about "Name of spouse and children accompaning or following to join person." In my case it is just my finacee, so do i put just my finace's name?? or put none?

Third, I was looking at package 3 and on Question # 7 it asks for Type of business and Name of concern. What do i put?? I am confused. In business i assume i will put my employer's name and what is that name of concern??

Last question, on Question 11 it asks me about my intend. I wrote i will support my fiancee with anything and everything that he needs until he can legally work in the US. Is this good enough?

Thanks in advance. I am freaking out here. crying.gif crying.gif

Wow, someone found our old thread ::giggles:: I can help answer some of those questions. First of all, you do not need to send anything to NVC, USCIS automatically forwards your file to them, a lot of it is electronic. You will however receive a separate notice from NVC about your case. Just that they are looking at it and passing it along.

Put none, as your finance is not your spouse YET.

Sorry, I don't know about the last two questions, where are they from? Package three depends on the consulate and the info varies. Which one are you going to? I don't remember those questions being asked for Delhi.

Yes it is normal to take that long. In the meantime you can all the embassy to see if they've received your case. If they have, you can submit packet 3 before you receive it in the mail.

lol. My prize will arrive in 9 days and I'm going to spoil him rotten. =D Do you have any idea how hard it is to plan an American wedding in less than a month? I managed to crank out most of the details in the last 36 hours and I'm so exhausted. Even found a girl to do my henna. =D Should I surprise Sam with our honeymoon location or shall I let him in on the secret? Haven't decided yet lol. Where abouts do you live Classicrock? How is the climate there? I'm trying to prepare Sam with the forecast for the 19th, he's going to be bringing his jacket. =D

I can imagine. You must have been busy with the 221g and all thrown down your way as well. Definitely spoil him and yourself, too. After all we have gone through with this visa stuff, I think we all deserve it. Don't you think I would keep the honey moon location a secret. Keep him guessing. It will add to the fun I think.
Carolina is always on my mind not just James Taylor's. Get it. I live in NC. It does get cold here but we have had some awesome weather. My fiancee is still cold (she is from Kolkata and when I was there it was in the upper 80s) but she is enjoying the weather. It's been sunny and been in the mid to upper 60s in the last couple of days. What about you ? You .. somewhere on the west coast ?
Good luck with the wedding prep. Not trying to make light of all the work you need to do, after all the K1 stuff, it should be a somewhat of a breeze.

Oh ok, I've been to NC once for work last year. It's a very pretty state! I myself live in Ohio and the winters here are brutal. Sam's never experienced -0C before ::evil grin:: It's been hovering around 5C this week. I grew up on the west coast through. Well the surprise honeymoon idea is out. I was thinking dinseyworld but it would be too much work to do in such a short time. People book those kinds of trips years in advance. Now I'm looking for something more relaxing and not as expensive, either within driving distance from Cleveland or a quick plane ride to California so I can show him where I grew up. If I do decide to go to California, ELW, let's arrange a get together!

The results are in fresh outside the embassy........Moksha got approved congrats!, Karri and Sam......221g crying.gif They wanted relationship evidence. Stuff we already submitted, that guy was a jerk! Wouldn't even let us show him our engagement album! Sam will get back to Chandigarh tomorrow and will post the complete list. I think they asked for 7 things including a voter's thingie for 5 years. A notarized statement stating I can speak Sam's language. jerks! No hablo Hindi. =(

Anyways this can go one of two ways. A) we submit what they want and they approve us in a few days or weeks B ) they sit on it until our NOA2 expires on May 9th and deny us at which point what are my options? Move there and get married and file for a different visa?
