Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBiometrics Letter Before Receipt?
Same thing happened to me. I received my Biometrics appointment a few weeks back, have already had my Biometrics done and only received the NOA receipt/1 year extension letter today.

But I had already made an InfoPass appointment to get the 1 year extension stamp in my passport, which I was given without any problems, so I'm not too worried which order the letters arrived.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRemoval of condition and driver license
I have a one year extension while waiting on a decision for removal of conditions which I sent last April. In July I moved to Florida and assumed when handing in my NC drivers license for an FL drivers license that they would only allow me to have a license for as long as the extention letter states as they took copies of the expired greencard and extension letter, after which they issued me with a 30 day driving permit while my application was being processed, but surprisingly enough I received an FL drivers license in the post a week later that is valid til 2015.

Best of luck with the (signed) I-751 Aidan! I sent my I-751 last April, but I do not expect to see any decision made til at least March, if not later. I'm not too worried about that anyway. I can apply for naturalization in March so I'll concentrate on that instead.

I agree that the citation was proper. If he had more than a few drinks and still decided to drive, regardless of who hit who or if he felt he was drunk or not, the law is the law, it doesn't change depending on if someone feels they have the capacity to drive after a few drinks or not. His decision to drive while under the influence was foolish...period. Therefore getting a lawyer to help in the removal of conditions is a wise (and costly but necessary) move.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRequest for Evidence??
While joint tax returns are best, I think it's up to individuals if they want to file separately or together so even sending copies of your past W2's along with copies of past tax transcripts all showing the same address should be okay I think. You could mention that you filed taxes separately in your cover letter but you both plan to file joint returns for 2008 before April (regardless of if you plan to or not).

Then send in anything else you have with both your names on them or items that have the same address as your spouse such as copies of drivers licenses etc.

As for life insurance, you're never too young or old for that!

You would have filed thru CSC not VSC and that should take 6 months, if not less. VSC is a lot slower, at about 11-12 months as LS mentioned.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionConditional permanent residency: does it apply to us?
They just often need to be reminded of their own laws.

I was told at POE that I had a 2-yr GC and needed to remove conditions on my second wedding anniversary. When I asked the Customs and Border Patrol officer if he meant the second anniversary minus 90 days of my entry to the US, he had to look it up and found I was right.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionJoint tax returns
I did the same. I sent in the forms printed off after doing our joint tax returns via TurboTax as part of the I-751. But since then I have also noticed some people were getting RFE's asking for official IRS transcripts.

So I have started to collect info in a separate file in case of an RFE, including official IRS transcripts. I'll keep it all to one side just in case it's needed. If it isn't needed, I'll still use the contents of the file for my N-400 application in March.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion10 Yr GC received
Excellent news ramc75!

Our case was touched yet again today. I have an inkling we'll get an RFE as I sent in TurboTax records, not official IRS transcripts (although there was plenty of other evidence, so it remains to be seen what will happen). Of course, I only found out about the possibility of getting IRS transcripts a few days after we sent in the I-751...doh! But I'm not worried. I can wait for years for the I-751 to be decided upon, it doesn't affect our lives in the slightest. I already have the transcripts anyway in an RFE file along with other more up to date info in case we do receive an RFE. If we do not, then all that will go out in my N-400 in 2 weeks time anyhoooo.

I bet after we all are US Citizens, we'll still be collecting copies of bank statements, copies of leases, copies of joint insurance docs, copies of everything with both your name and your spouses name on it, just as evidence.....all out of force of habit ;-)

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAR-11 Change of Address
Also bear in mind that the AR-11 only changes your address on their system, not on any pending cases (which it seems you do not have).

I received a confirmation letter fairly quickly, but I'm not sure if that was in response to the AR-11 or the fact that I phoned to ensure they updated my address on the I-751 also, which was pending at the time. The confirmation letter mentioned that they had updated both the system and the pending case.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAssembling the package...
We included a few photos, only 4 or so, printed on standard paper with a little blurb/year of photo, but we concentrated mostly on docs with joint financial information or docs with the just one of our names but with the same address. That is far more important as evidence than a million photos, but as queendlee said including photos certainly doesn't hurt.

Best of luck with the I-751 process!

Highly unlikely that you'll get an RFE or request for an interview with all that, unless you are one of the lucky ones selected as part of the QA process, which is in itself against the odds. Methinks you'll be just fine.

Ken&Barbie,

If you have time to include the official IRS transcripts, then well and good, if not as mentioned earlier you'll have them for your 'RFE' file should you get one.

However, jasminelily mentioned to me in a post within this thread "I don't think you need to worry about much of the TurboTax docs, if they really want to see actual IRS return transcripts, they would have send you RFE already." and she was dead right. Even though I did not include official IRS transcripts, it seems there was enough evidence along with the TurboTax docs and I received an email with my approval today.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionLate and Stressed Out
I agree. While not absolutely necessary, highlighting important info would be a good idea. I enclosed a lot of documents such as Irish tax-related docs so I could include evidence from the entire life time of our marraige as my wife and I lived in Ireland for a few years before we moved to the US and the IO would not be familar with those types of docs.

Of course as per not including official IRS transcripts and putting in TurboTax docs only without W-2's, I also did not highlight names/addresses on the docs I sent. I found out about all that and thought it a good idea after we sent the I-751...doh!
J&DMaleIreland2009-03-04 13:34:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionLate and Stressed Out
If you're using HR Block tax returns and not official IRS transcripts, it would be best to include copies of your W-2's also. I have seen some people getting RFE's for that reason.

Of course, I sent in TurboTax tax returns without copies of our W-2's, but our case has not been decided upon yet. Just in case of an RFE, I have since ordered tax transcripts from the IRS.

Sure do.

Moved here from Charlotte, NC last June and love it here. I live on the intersection of US-19 and Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. so we're close to everything, nor far from the beach and just 20 minutes from Tampa. I'm doing my degree in computer science right now and eventually I'll need to look for a job elsewhere in the US and move again as there's nothing in my field anywhere in Florida, but I'm reluctant to move as I like Clearwater and Florida as a whole so much.

Watching the news and all the snow and people dressed like eskimos up north just makes me even more reluctant to leave here. smile.gif

QUOTE
J&D- where did you get the docs and the form stating you are ready? I was also under the impression we'd have to ring the premium number, just to get them to send the forms (I-130 etc) to us so we could fill them out and send them back....

I downloaded the I-130 (link below), filled it out, got any other docs together that were required, sent it all into the Dublin Embassy. They gave me a call and I had to go in with my wife for an initial interview with the Consular Officer where he asked some basic questions and we proved my (USC) wife lived in Ireland for at least 6 months, after which he approved the petition.

We were given two forms at the Embassy, one showing what the next procedures were and one that we sent to the Embassy once we had everything so we downloaded the necessary docs from the USCIS website, I did the medical and organized Garda certs and so on and so forth, and once we had everything I filled out the form stating I was now ready for the interview and received a letter about a week or so later with an interview date.

Since my wife and I lived in Ireland and our Irish income was not counted, we needed a co-sponsor in the US so the longest time during the whole process was waiting for our co-sponsor in the US to fill out a form which took him a few weeks to do since he was on a business trip and had little time but even counting that waiting time, the time from the day our I-130 was approved to getting the CR1 visa was only 79 days which I think was reasonably fast.

More info you might want to look at about the filing the I-130 tru the Dublin Embassy:

The process I went thru might differ slightly to yours given that your case is complete already and you just need to go thru the interview but I didn't need to call the expensive number, I sent in a form when I had all the necessary docs to state I was ready and then received a letter from the embassy with an interview date, which I was not happy with so called the embassy (the cheap number!) and managed to get it changed to a date much much sooner.

In the interview letter I received from the embassy with the original date, there was a list of approved doctors. I have the list filed away but it would take about a month to find it as it's in one of about 100 boxes stored away with unpacked stuff we do not need in the immediate future from the move from Ireland to the US so your best bet is to call the embassy direct, ask for the immigrant visa section and ask them about approved doctors and their phone numbers in Dublin, then make an appointment for a little more than a week before your interview date as it takes about a week to get the results.

It might be worth making sure thru an infopass appointment or phone call to be on the safe side and not assume anything but I would think that should you change the interview to the Dublin Embassy then both the NVC and the Dublin Embassy would ensure the Dublin Embassy had everything they needed.

The Dublin Embassy themselves make sure every t is crossed and every i is dotted from applicants so I would think (hope) they follow that practise themselves and make sure they were just as prepared for the interview and they want you to be.

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Any Irish IR/CR1 cases?
Hi Manda,

I have a CR1 visa which was issued thru the Dublin Embassy in May 2006. You won't receive the actual greencard straight away but will get a stamp in your (or your spouses if you are the US Citizen) passport as well as the brown envelope to give to the border patrol at your point of entry to the US. The actual greencard is posted out within a few weeks.

There have been several reviews posted on this site about the Dublin Embassy and you can find those at Reviews: Embassy (link on top of page). I completed a review of my interview at the Dublin Embassy and rather than looking for that elsewhere on this site, I have pasted it below so you can have a read to see if it helps:

"Here is a summary of my interview experience following application for a CR-1 visa directly via DCF thru the US Embassy in Dublin, Ireland.

Rule number 1 is to double/triple check your documentation. The Dublin Embassy will be ####### about it. I was number 3 in line and watched the 2 people ahead of me being told they did not have the correct documentation, one had a baptismal cert not a birth cert as was required and another did not have their spouses 2005 taxes filed and even though they said they had requested an extension with the IRS, they had no proof of the extension. But the staff were nice and explained exactly which documents were missing and told the people ahead of me to contact the Embassy again for another interview when they had the missing documents ready. Although the officer did get annoyed at having to make copies of docs such as Marriage certs that people wanted back but did not bring copies with them, so make sure you bring copies!

When it was my turn the officer asked my date of birth (I guess to make sure it is listed correctly in the system and not confused by American/Irish date formats), then she asked for the documenation which I had ready in the order I had noticed that she had asked the others for it, which was Birth Cert + Copy (I did thankfully have copies of everything!); Marriage Cert + Copy; Police Cert(s); any court orders, deportation or military papers (none of which applied to me); affidavit of support from my wife plus her 2005 1040 (she had a Form 2555 to show exemption from US taxes and no W2 since all her income was made in Ireland in 2005 both of which were fine); affidavit of support from the co-sponsor (since Irish income for my wife and I did not count) plus the co-sponsors 1040 and W2 for 2005, a copy of the co-sponsors permanent resident card and a recent pay stub; Medical exam results; and finally DS-230 Part II.

The officer went thru it all as I stood at the window, then she asked me to pay my $380, took my fingerprints, asked me to raise my right hand and swear that all the info in the docs was true to the best of my knowledge and said that my visa would take a little while and to sit down and wait some more. After being approved I could have waited a week! :-)

Eventually I was called up yet again, given my passport back with a I-551 permanent resident visa and I also received the mysterious brown envelope.

I was in the Embassy for 3 hours, but only spent about 15 minutes in total at any of the windows (doc collection, interview with consular officer, cashier, passport/visa collection). All in all, a little nerve-wracking, especially watching other people being told they did not have everything they needed, but other than that pretty painless. Besides your double and triple checked documentation and copies of everything, just bring water, a sandwich, a good book and plenty of patience (you'll be sitting & waiting 95% of the time)!"

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Ireland or Prague vacation suggestions
I have not been to Prague, although I can recommend both Budapest and Vienna. But if you decide to go to Ireland, make sure you see the west coast. A lot of people tend to go to Dublin only. Dublin is certainly worth a visit, but make sure you go to Galway city as well as to the Cliffs of Moher which is not too far south of Galway.

I am from Cork City and I suppose I should recommend that too. It is a nice city, but if you do go there, try to see Kinsale south of the city and Cobh to the east. Even though Cotrk City is a great place to visit, both Kinsale and Cobh are far more impressive than the city as is the coastline around them.

Another thing you could consider is the Ring of Kerry in the south west of the country. Some of the views of the mountains there will take your breath away and you cannot get anyone more friendly than someone from Kerry!

Can't help you there I'm afraid as I live in the south and the swealtering heat! Although it's cooler today at only 24C, but for the past few weeks it's been anything up to 40C (with a feels like temp of 43C). But as with anything in life, you get used to it. Of course having the a/c on in the apartment and the car and the mall and everywhere else helps!!

On the job front, I work in computers also, but had a job lined up with an Irish company before I got here so I have no idea how easy or difficult it is to get a job with a US company. I guess the only thing is prior to moving to the US, send out your CV/resume to any positions in companies that look interesting that are located anywhere except the south and start networking via LinkinIn and FaceBook, and keep an eye on Craig's List.

Also bear in mind that while you won't have swealtering heat up north (at least not for too long), prepare to live under 50 foot of snow for 4 months and having to dig your car out every morning wacko.gif
