I think you are talking about the I-134 (Affidavit of Support). There is a new version of the I-134 that does not need to be notarized.

Hmm. I guess you just have to wait. To me it sounds like you have been put into some kind of additional processing since you were not given a definite date.

I don't know about the patterns of visa delivery in the Ivory Coast. There are no active members here that can give any insight.

I would say just sit and wait.

Also, you can check out the Subsaharan Africa forum: http://www.visajourn...hp?showforum=89

It sounds like they need to do more processing on your case before they issue the visa.

Was she given a piece of paper after the interview?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp Us In New York
QUOTE (PassionateMan @ Mar 10 2009, 10:23 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Help! In New York
Hello,

My girlfriend is a green card holder and has an appointment to do her citizenship test this month in New York City. And now for the questions.

How soon (in general) does a green card holder get their full citizenship card from the time they take their test? No citizenship card that I know of. She will probably get a naturalization certificate, but I don't know when they get that.

Once they have full citizenship, is there a waiting period before they can sponsor a canadian? (I'm currently living in New York as a tourist and living off savings. No waiting period. Once she is a citizen she can petition you. She will need a copy of her naturalization certificate to send in with the I-130 (or her US passport if she gets one).

If we get married at the New York city hall, how long in general am I likely to wait for a work permit providing everything else is in order? About 60-90 days.

If I have to leave because I'm running low on cash is there any advantage to leaving the country to wait for the processing time to pass on the work permit? And... if I do leave because the work permit is taking a long time do I need to file anything to make sure I can come back to continue the process?
If you decide to leave the US, you abandon your adjustment application and have to start over with a spousal visa (K3 or CR1).

We heard that besides her having to make a certain amount of money in order to sponsor me that there are other things that US immigration looks before they will grant citizenship. What are they? There is no income requirement for citizenship: http://www.uscis.gov...rm/N-400ins.pdf

Income requirements to sponsor a foreign beneficiary: http://www.uscis.gov...form/I-864P.pdf

Thanks

As long as your cosponsor meets the income requirements you should be OK.

You can bring your pay stubs if you want as proof of your income on your I-134.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMedical Exam and Vaccinations
It is true that for the K visas vaccinations are not required but they have to be completed before sending in AOS.

We had the series completed in Ghana because it was cheaper for him to get them done there, and we had to wait a long time for his visa anyways.

ETA: The CO should approve the visa if only the vaccinations are missing, but stranger things have happened.

I should have remained silent on this because as you say the OP didnt give enough information. I'll take my own advise & wait to see what you come up with.
I have read some of the other posts & stand corrected & educated on this issue. Sorry to Anh map for my comments.

A lot of the Subsaharan Africa and MENA countries allow cosponsors. I cannot think of a case where someone who presented a cosponsor was rejected. There were a few cases (Ghana and Gambia come to my mind right now) where a cosponsor was actually required by the CO before visa issuance.

When we filed our K1 petition I had my sisters write letters about how they met my fiance and things that all of us did together. There was no format to their letters, they just wrote what they wanted, signed and dated them.

If you can get them I would include them. It can only add to the other evidence that you include along with the petition.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGhana - the process in Ghana for K1
QUOTE (gf97 @ Apr 20 2009, 10:50 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Even though I am still at Step 1: NOA 1 I was thinking about the following:

1. How hard is it to get a birth certificate in Ghana—u know Ghana everything is slow—should I tell me guy now to go get a copy. Where do people go to get birth certificates in Ghana? It is not hard to get a birth certificate. Your fiance should know where to get one.

2. Is there like one police station in Accra Ghana that people go to for their police records? My guy is in Accra so should he go get it now or wait until he is closer—he should probably wait until he is closer right, so that they wont say he got it to early—how much is police report. Does he need a card that comes in the packet before he can go requesting it? The police certificate is only valid for 3 months (someone correct me if I am wrong) so he should wait to have the interview date before getting it. It takes about a week. He will need to go to the CID headquarters: http://64.226.23.153...certificate.htm

3. This is the most important question:

3A. Is it TRUe that when the guy interviews in Ghana that he needs to have the original documents—like does he need the original of my plane itineraries, my original credit card statement? I don't think this is true, but I did see it on the Vj site today so I thought Id ask you.
I know when the guy interviews, he should have a copy of the ORIGINAL i-129 F packet you sent to USCIS, and a new letter of marriage to intent.. but does he really need ORIGINAL of stuff—isnt that impossible?? So what, should I sign the G-325 again before he goes to the interview, etc?? He needs to have originals of his birth certificate and any documents that he needs to sign need to have the original signature. The pictures should be the actual pictures, not copies. Copies of things like itineraries and e-mails are OK. If you present letters/cards as evidence, you should have the original envelopes with postmarks on them. The copy of the I-129F petition is for his own information so that he can see what you sent. It is not required at the interview. The G-325A is not needed at the interview.

3B.When your person in Ghana interviews, does the American have to be there? I don't want to go because then it gives them more room to find errors, etc. I don't think its necessary to go—some Us citizrns have gone, and some have not..What is your though on that? It is not required that the USC be at the interview.

3C. I sent my I-129 F in March. I don't plan on going back to Ghana until his visa is approved… is that smart? Do u think I should go at least one more time so we can have more pictures for the whole "ongoing relationship thing?? You should go as many times as you can. Visits are the best proof of relationship. We had one visit between NOA1 and NOA2.

So basically, when my guy goes to the embassy, he will need the forms they requested PLUS the copy of the original I-129 F packet I sent PLUS a folder that contains more evidence of ongoing relationship from March to the visa interview. The I-129F petition is not needed at the interview.

Sorry if i put this in the wrong place-- i cant seem to see the appropriate way to post--can i post questions in the my country's portal???

for those of you who seem to think the foreign fiance is giving up everything...

lets see what are they giving up? some fiances are coming from poor nations... they are giving

up incredibly low pay, bad housing, etc etc etc to make the terrible sacrifice to come to america.

geez.. thats a tough one.

there are many foreign fiances that arent giving up much... and they will do and say anything to get here..

thats just the truth.. most of the people on this forum wont have this problem..

I disagree.

Yes, there are some people who just want to get here and will do whatever to get here.

But then there are those who are giving up a lot. Just because someone comes from a poor country does not mean that they want to leave. There are those who want to stay in their country to try and change it for the better. Those who have seen or know someone who has come here, seen their transition and they do not want to go through that.

Be careful about lumping people from "poor" countries together. My fiance and I had this argument more times than I care to count because he was adamant about staying in Ghana. He didn't want to come here. He has family, friends, a job etc. Is that not enough to give up?

So are you saying that only poor people are desperate to come here? Or that only poor people are scammers? There are too many stories of doctors, nurses, engineers and other professionals who do the exact same thing. People who were living quite comfortably and just wanted a ticket to America.

No matter where the fiance(e) is coming from they are giving up something. I don't think it is fair to say that just because they are coming from a poor country that their value is any less than someone coming from a "rich" country.

We are all not the same. What is true in your case is not true for everyone else.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshow to best use the 90 days prior to marriage k-1
I have to agree with LisaD, tmma, Caladan, pushbrk on this one.

K-1 visa = fiance(e) visa, not a "please leave your life/family/job/friends behind in your country, come here, and lets see if we can stomach each other and get along and then get married" visa.

How can anyone justify making someone else leave their life behind, on the promise of marriage, only to say that they are going to use the 90 days to test the waters and see if they get along? It is unfair, unreasonable and selfish. How about if the tables were turned?

And then what happens if you find out that you were not compatible, pack him/her up and put them on the next plane back home and say "Sorry I made you give up everything for nothing. Have a nice life"!?!?!?!?!?!

#######?!?!?

Besides the fact that there is that simple statement that we all signed stating that we intend to marry within the 90 days. How much more clarification does someone need about the purpose of the visa?

And then getting them here and suggesting spying on them...don't even get me started. How much more disrespectful can you be towards someone you say you are going to marry?

Geez.

The K1 has the intent to immigrate.

As far as I know, with an F1, you need to show no intent to immigrate. With the K1 in the system I don't know if that will be possible. On the F1 application I am sure that they are going to ask about other visas applied for or obtained in the past.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI need help.. plz
Are you wanting the pictures for the petition or the interview?

When we filed our petition we did not have any pictures together. I just sent in my boarding passes (along with my itinerary) and 2 affidavits from my sisters that they had seen us together. That was it. Inbetween filing the petition and interview I went to visit and we took lots of pics and submitted those (along with other evidence) for the interview.

At the petition stage all you need is proof that you have met within the last 2 years, so his passport stamps and boarding passes are good, primary evidence. Pictures are secondary evidence. Once you send in the petition you can go, visit, take lots of picks and have those handy for the interview.

As for him getting a B2, you can try. Like someone said, all you risk is the $131. Remember though that it is hard for a single male from the Middle East to get a B2, let alone someone who has proven their intent to immigrate here by filing for a K1 (which was approved and he did come).

If she can prove ties to Mexico there is no reason why she cannot visit while the K1 is pending. Many people do it.

Have you read the responses from people with direct ties to MEXICO here on this thread? People with personal stories of just how difficult it is to get visitors visas, despite having strong ties? Why would you say such a thing without any evidence to back it up? And no, "Many people do it" is not evidence.

Geez wacko.gif

First of all, I know all too well how difficult it can be for someone to get a visitors visa from third world countries to come to the US.

I was just pointing out that IF she is able to get a visitor's visa from Mexico (which CAN be done and is a whole process in itself) there is no reason for her to stay away while the K1 is processing. Maybe I was not clear about that.

And yes, there ARE people who manage to come and visit while the K1 is processing.
