K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2!!!! WOOT!
Hey all,

What a joyous holiday gift to hear about on Christmas eve (GMT- I'm in England)! My Dad sent my fiance a message to tell him we recieved our NOA2 in the mail. With an approval date of December 19th. No updates online or emails sent out for approval, we did get a touch on the 20th of December, which kind of made me think we were probably going to get an RFE.

But nope, someone at CSC loves us! Even if they did forget to send out the emails

He said it read "The above petition has been approved.." will be sent to NVC yada yada yada, approved December 19th!

   So YEY for Christmas!

Good question that i'm not sure I know the answer to, but I sent copies of my bank statement from online and they didn't say anything to me about it, no RFE's or anything.
I suppose they'll probably ask to see it at the interview?

1. No they don't inform you, you will just receive a letter back from them from there. (NOA1 will say from CSC)
2. WAC is the beginning of the case number you will be assigned from CSC. NOA1 is through the mail, and I believe most people receive it in about 2-4 weeks.
3. After you receive your NOA1 you can sign up on uscis.gov with the WAC # that will be on your NOA1. After you do that, there is a spot for "last updated" when your last updated date changes, then you have been "touched."

Or you could get a weird case like mine and not even get approval emails, just end up with your NOA2 randomly in your mailbox.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about being allowed back in the states
No it's not a law at all. Most people just choose not to because of the fear of being rejected entry and the travel time and money being lost. If your fiance comes over just make sure they have very strong ties to Scotland or they will be treated as an immigrant because of the fact that they applied for the visa, and they will be rejected entry and sent back.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresso confusing!!!
For the proof of relationship part, the only requirement for that is that you've met in the last two years. All the stuff that you've mentioned the flight tickets, pictures, passport stamps (majorly good to have) will all help support the fact especially if they have dates on them etc. It will probably be a bit harder at the interview because you have to show your continued relationship, so when you get to the interview part you will need a lot more. By that point though you will probably have been to see him again so you will have more proof.
Where he was denied entry into the US should have no effect on his being approved for a visa.
These last two parts im not completely sure on, but for the sponsor part i'm pretty sure you do need to still send in your tax returns because even if you have a co-sponsor you are still the primary sponsor, so you have to show in some way you can support them. The address part, I would think you should put the address you live at now if you do not know a new address, you can always update it later on in the process?
midicatFemaleEngland2007-01-04 16:55:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust sent I-129F
She can still travel to the USA, just make sure she has really strong ties to Mexico or they will treat her as an immigrant and not let her into the country. Good examples would be full time job, bank accounts, assets (car, rent, house payment) I guess it just depends because i've heard some people say they've had no trouble. I suppose in her event it would be easier than most of the rest of us, at least if they deny her entry she can just drive back home, most people would have to fly all the way back and have lost a lot of money in the process of trying to come over. Also if she told them she was just coming over to go shopping for a day I don't really think they would question her that much about it.

As long as what you made for the rest of the year is still 125% of poverty level it shouldn't matter that you were unemployed.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow deal with parents who talk guilt?
ah Gotcha. I read it as her mom didn't insure her car. Agreed then that's a bit over the top expecting her to pay for the ticket when it has nothing to do with her.
midicatFemaleEngland2007-01-05 10:07:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow deal with parents who talk guilt?
It really seems like her parents are majorly overcontrolling, I think she needs to fuss it up and tell them outright "Look i'm getting married, that's all there is to it, and you can't control my life anymore." I don't think anything will change from the way it is now until she does that to be honest. If she doesn't stick up for herself and tell them to stop being so controlling over her life, because it's her life to live, then they will keep trying to live it for her.

Ontop of that though, if she is working full-time etc and her parents don't agree she should be paying for her own wedding. She shouldn't leave buying the dress up to your parents. And as far as the car not being insured, why wasn't she paying for her own insurance instead of relying on her parents to do so? In most states its a law to be insured before driving a vehicle.

I really don't think she should feel selfish though for trying to make her own life. I suppose it'll be easier once you've moved over and can actually reassure her that she's doing the right thing when she first tells her parents no she won't do something for them.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Visa for my fiance from Peru.
Well, everyone on here will tell you that you don't need an attorney unless you have unusual circumstances. If you have nothing unusual about your case (as in no divorces, convictions, etc) then you should be fine to do it yourself. I don't think even with having done everything you can totally say that it will be 100% that they will get a visa. But if you follow all guidelines, make enough to show you've over 125% over poverty level, turn everything in that they ask for and the non USC doesn't have any communiable diseases then you have a really high chance of getting the visa! There's a bit of red tape on everything it seems.

As far as being denied at POE, i've not heard this before? Maybe someone else can tell you stories..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 - Again?
Haha. I had the same thing. I guess they got rushed for Christmas. I just posted saying Should I be concerned. We got approved Dec 19th, no updates online or anything got NOA2 in the mail on the 23rd. I just got 8 emails from USCIS saying we were approved Jan 9th! I already got a letter from NVC saying my case would be forwarded to the consulate on Jan 8th!

Yeah. I didn't realize before I posted there is someone else saying the same thing happened to them today. I guess they're just reminding me again that I am indeed approved! Nice to have frequent reminders I suppose.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould I be worried?
Hey all,

I'm wondering if I should be worried about this situation. As you can tell from my signature our petition was approved just before Christmas. I got a letter in the mail on the 8th from NVC saying my case would be forwarded to the consulate. However, I never did receive my online approvals. I just checked my email and realized I had on there 8 emails from USCIS.

*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

Receipt Number: WACXXXXXXXXX

Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On January 9, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F
PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you
move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

Should this be cause for concern seeing as it says they mailed my approved notice yesterday, and I just recieved the emails today? When I've already got my NOA2 in hand and letter from NVC in hand?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo Very Excited
Good luck on your journey.

I totally agree with your statement "our desire to want something that most might perceive as unatainable" If I tell someone my fiance is from the UK they're always like "What? How do you do that?" They must obviously do not know what true love is. If they only knew how hard it was to walk away and get on a plane knowing that you won't see the one you love for 10 months. I think everyone on VJ must be the strongest set of individuals i've ever met. ^_^

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTwo quickies...
I believe if you look in the guides it will show you exactly how to fill out the G-325A. I don't remember off hand how to do it.

An attachment letter on how you met seems like it would be clear enough. Make sure to mention you've lived together since a certain date.

As far as evidence goes you could use pictures, any other bills at all that is in both your names or possibly show things sent to the same address with your names on them (even if its not together?). You can also send letters from people who have seen you together. Your parents, friends, landlord if they know you live together, etc.

I put that we met online through a mutual friend. Then I kind of made a timeline. Put all the dates in the last 2 years that we've seen each other, then put where we were during those times. Like for example June 2006 we went to Myrtle Beach together.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInterview
I have a quick question to ask on here,

My fiance and I applied for a fiance visa back in October of last year. We were scheduled to have the interview June 18th at the embassy in London. We had a rough patch there for a few months, and decided it was best to wait a while and he cancelled the interview at the embassy. Did that cancel out our entire petition? He said that the email he got basically said to phone the embassy whenever he was ready to reschedule. I know his police report and medical are good for a year so reapplying isn't really a big issue except for the price increase in actually doing that. haha. We never did anything state-side though. I'm not sure if I was supposed to contact anyone here to actually cancel it completely or if him calling the embassy was enough to do that?

I hope someone can help out here - kind of an odd situation...

Woo! Someone finally made an account! :D

Anyway, this will be good to know in a few weeks time when we get p3 from London. I'm still worried about the whole getting the interview too soon thing though.

What happened to your timeline by the way Jezebelseven? It's not there when I click on it!

United KingdomTravelling as "fiancee"
Not the same situation but when I went to England last they asked me two questions. First "how long are you staying?" I said "a month"... and "What is your intended purpose? Friends and family or holiday??" I said "Friends and future family" and she didn't ask anymore questions, stamped my passport and I was on my way.
midicatFemaleEngland2007-01-10 09:34:00
United KingdomTravelling to visit Fiance in UK
I just came back from the UK this week. I went in Dec 9th. My exact conversation with the nice lady at customs going into the UK was:
"Hello, passport please... How long are you staying?"
Me: "a month"
"For what reason? Vacation? family? friends?"
Me: "Vacation, friends and future family"
"Have a nice day"
In all honesty if you don't want to get hastled i'd just say you're going over for vacation. If you're only staying a short time they won't think anything of it. I've never had them ask more than 2-3 questions.

United KingdomEver had a package to UK lost?
My fiance sent me a letter once with something inside it, and when it got here it had been cut open and all that was left was the letter. Pretty sad. I hate USPS though, the last package I sent was only about 3 pounds, cost me $33. Bit of a rip off if you ask me, the contents weren't even much more than that. Makes me look forward to sending Christmas presents overseas after he moves here.

United KingdomSponsorship Question
I like vanilla brown sugar, and exotic coconut. I applied for these places back in Oct-Nov when they should have been hiring for Christmas rush! B&BW is the one who offered me 10 hours a week, I pretty much laughed and said it wasn't worth the gas it would cost me to get there. On a side note, does anyone know on the DS-156 for the part where it asks if you intend to work and put the address and name of the employer... what would you put if you do pending work authorization but don't have an employer?
midicatFemaleEngland2007-01-31 15:37:00
United KingdomSponsorship Question
I've tried like career builder and monster.com, problem is where I live it seems most of the jobs in what I used to do (data entry and customer service) are on the other side of town (about 30-40 mins away) which is just too far to drive each way everyday while going to school, and most can't work around my school schedule. It's a bummer. I even stooped as low as applying at like sears, kohls, target, bath and body works, petsmart, best buy... nothing!!! All major retailers. You would think someone who has experience, recommendations, dean's list in college etc, would be able to find a freaking job!
midicatFemaleEngland2007-01-31 15:10:00
United KingdomSponsorship Question
Oh yeah. My Mom is being the sponsor too. She kind of gave me a dazed look though when I told her all the stuff we had to send in! :) My parents both love him to bits too. I am hoping to be back to work sometime soon. I haven't had a job since July! The money situation is getting a bit bad. I'm a full-time student... and I was working full-time and if I hadn't lost my job I would have been able to sponsor my fiance by myself, but the place I worked closed down for business :(. Since i'm young no one seems to want to pay me anywhere near what I was making there, which is sad really because I'm one of the hardest working people I know! I deserve a good job, I hate what our country is coming to! Since July i've applied for about 30 places, got 2 interviews... one offered me 10 hours a week!! What a joke! The other wrote me a letter saying they passed me up, and the reason i'm sure was because I was going to England over Christmas and they had a rule that you had to work Christmas eve, which I saw when I turned in the application to them, but... I hadn't bought my plane ticket yet!

Ohh. I'm glad you asked about this, i'm in the same situation. Although I wonder, I had a job for most of last year and I was on unemployment because where I was working closed. When I fill out the part about how much I make a year, can I put how much I actually made last year? I haven't had a job yet this year, and that could look kind of worrying putting zero!

United KingdomMail order brides GRRRRR

I sent this guy 10000 bucks and I got this woman in the mail, but I was pissed-off because I thought it included the shipping and that was another 537 bucks! :ranting:

(next time I'll specify a smaller woman so the shipping is cheaper)

I'm not really sure what to think about this post. I suppose all I have to say really is just because someone found the person they are going to marry through a dating site, it doesn't mean they don't love them. We are all human beings, it doesn't matter what country we come from, we all have to wait through this horrid visa process.

I hope you really didn't miss my joke.

Amyone who goes through this process knows how sad and pathetic its is when people refer to our loved one as a "mail order bride". I used to get mad at people who did that, now I just laugh at them because they're so fracking stoopid.

Sorry. I didn't mean your post, I meant the whole topic! I was laughing about your joke :) Guess I should have been more specific.

Why yes, I believe it did help me by ranting a bit :)!

Anyway, I am very thankful that no one in my family treats my fiance that way. They all think its quite interesting and like to hear his stories about British culture etc. My family is pretty open minded about such things. My background is a bit of a mix of everything . I do have a few family members who can't seem to keep straight where he is from though, I had someone ask me if he was from INDIA!... How can you mistake a Brit for an Indian? That's a bit beyond me.

Did you join in the discussion to re-educate them? Or let them just ramble on?

Personally I wouldn't have been able to keep my mouth shut.

I think I was too much in shock to say anything!! It was right at the end of class too, so I didn't really get the chance to say anything, although if the discussion comes back up again tomorrow, I defiantely will have a few things on my mind to say after gathering my thoughts about the situation. And the funny thing is, my teacher is Norweigan! You would think she would have been heated about it too!

I suppose they don't even realize it's the other way around too, Women petitioning for MEN from foreign countries.
