PhilippinesAPPROVED!! :-) What is seminar? Do you have to do it?

We left out of Dubai on a K-1. Did not attend CFO. Have returned to Philippines multiple times since, not having a CFO sticker has never been an issue nor has it even been brought up.

Good luck!

Thanks for the confirmation!

PhilippinesAPPROVED!! :-) What is seminar? Do you have to do it?

You bet!

However, I am not sure how Philippine immigration will respond when your fiancee (when she does travel back, I know she will be your wife) travels back to the Philippines, then seeks to leave the country with that K-1 visa in her passport and no CFO sticker. Even if the visa was issued from a consulate other than USEM, I have no idea how they would handle that. Maybe someone that has dealt with that issue will chime in.

Maybe having a GC will make a difference, I don't know.

That's a good question.

PhilippinesAPPROVED!! :-) What is seminar? Do you have to do it?

No she will not in your case. Attending the CFO seminar is a requirement of the Philippine government, before a national
can exit the the Philippines. Flying from Dubai, your fiancee will avoid the need thereof.

Thanks for the quick answer.

Exactly!

Thank you for the affirmation. I'm glad one less thing to do.

PhilippinesRiding the Horse in Philippines
the san miguel over there tastes better? i thought the san miguel i got here in chicago was pretty good. i didn't know they made good beer in the philippines, so I was pleasantly surprised.

what's red horse? is that the malt liquor version? i have heard people speak ominously about that.

by the way, my fiancee, though residing in dubai, is from the phils. i will be meeting her in may in manila before we go to her home. so i will get a chance to try the red horse and whatever else anyone recommends.

PhilippinesDoes your hubby snores a lot ???

Both and rarely. My family members(males)snore like motorboats so I'm used to it. I also don't mind noise unless it's early morning then that's annoying. When he does, I always feel like waking him up not because he's noisy but I'm scared listening to him like he stops breathing or something. He does sleep talk more though and it gets a bit funny.

That's a sign of sleep apnea and it's very unhealthy. He should see a specialist.

PhilippinesQuestion for Overseas Filipinas regarding CFO requirement

The CFO class for those immigrating and for overseas workers is different.

My gut tells me that when it comes time to fly back to Dubai that when the fine folks at the airport see the U.S. visa they are going to look for the CFO sticker, PLUS they will also look to see if the EXIT FEE of Php 1,620 was paid. But that is just my gut and not fact.

My other thought is that Overseas Workers go through the airport differently than normal travelers, they have a separate entrance which may mean the airport personal won't be looking for the U.S. visa ... but if they see it when checking the passport alarms may go off in their head. I don't know the process inside those "other doors" at the airport, I only know there is always a huge crowd at that entrance.

Better safe than sorry. CFO takes roughly a half a day if you get into the AM class.

Here is a link to CFO

CFO:

ALL exiting required to attend. There have been changes regarding CFO so for sure read through their website.

Update: Please check the schedule of the counseling session before proceeding to CFO because it is country-specific and the slots are limited only to 15 per session (exception: Tuesday & Thursday mornings there are 30 slots). It is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

CFO Online Registration Form: http://www.cfo.gov.p...trationform.pdf Complete this and print a couple copies to bring to the CFO seminar, it will save you time.

http://www.philembas...w_gcp_flyer.pdf

http://www.cfo.gov.p...onals&catid=140

Required documents & "OTHER DOCUMENTS" they ask for at CFO: copies of; CENOMAR, certified birth certificate, bio page of passport, visa page from passport, pictures together. From USC - bio page of passport, birth certificate, divorce decree (if been married before) are the most common requests. The "other documents" clause can be ANYTHING with those nit-wits at CFO.

** From the Family Code of the Philippines: it's 21-25 years old for advice and 18-21 years old for consent. (Some are posted on VJ that they were not asked for this, yet others have been asked, so be prepared)

Art. 14. In case either or both of the contracting parties, not having been emancipated by a previous marriage, are between the ages of eighteen and twenty-one, they shall, in addition to the requirements of the preceding articles, exhibit to the local civil registrar, the consent to their marriage of their father, mother, surviving parent or guardian, or persons having legal charge of them, in the order mentioned. Such consent shall be manifested in writing by the interested party, who personally appears before the proper local civil registrar, or in the form of an affidavit made in the presence of two witnesses and attested before any official authorized by law to administer oaths. The personal manifestation shall be recorded in both applications for marriage license, and the affidavit, if one is executed instead, shall be attached to said applications. (61a)

Art. 15. Any contracting party between the age of twenty-one and twenty-five shall be obliged to ask their parents or guardian for advice upon the intended marriage. If they do not obtain such advice, or if it be unfavorable, the marriage license shall not be issued till after three months following the completion of the publication of the application therefor.A sworn statement by the contracting parties to the effect that such advice has been sought, together with the written advice given, if any, shall be attached to the application for marriage license. Should the parents or guardian refuse to give any advice, this fact shall be stated in the sworn statement.

Thanks, Hank. That's the kind of answer I am looking for. You understand what I am talking about.

PhilippinesQuestion for Overseas Filipinas regarding CFO requirement

CFO details are on the link I posted above.

PDOS takes only a few hours to complete. She can check the available schedules on the link. I doubt immigration will let her leave the Philippines without the CFO sticker on her passport. It's a requisite for all Filipino immigrants (not just fiancees or spouses of foreigners).

That's why I was wondering because she must already have one since she's working overseas. I just thought that if they see the US visa besides the UAE visa if they will give her problem for that. With just the UAE work visa she don't have problem because she's already gone home twice. I know it's confusing.

So you're saying she shouldn't travel back to the Philippines once she gets the K-1 visa unless she plans to do the CFO even if she's going back to Dubai where she's working?

How long does that CFO take to arrange and complete?

PhilippinesQuestion for Overseas Filipinas regarding CFO requirement
I don't know if anyone can answer this question:

My fiancee is filipina residing in Dubai. I believe that since she's applying for fiancee visa at Abu Dhabi that she is not required to do the CFO seminar. However, my fiancee after she obtains (hopefully) her fiancee visa in Abu Dhabi, but before she comes to the U.S.A., she wants to take her company vacation time and company paid plane ticket to fly back to Philippines to see her family one more time. She will then fly back to Dubai and then to the U.S.A. My question is, if when she goes to Phiiipines and the Philippines officials sees the US visa in her passport, will she have trouble because they will be looking for the CFO stamp even though she's going back to Dubai first.

I know this sounds confusing, let me know if you want more clarification of my question. I just want to know if it is safe for my fiancee to travel back to Philippines once she gets K-1 visa and before she come here because of that CFO thing. I thought some other overseas Filipinas might understand my question and have some information.

Thank you!

PhilippinesQuestion for Overseas Filipinas regarding CFO requirement
Thanks for the responses. My fiancee is now leaning towards skipping the trip back to the Philippines for now and waiting until she (hopefully) gets her conditional residency. If she went back using her vacation time, she wouldn't have a lot of time to be able to do the CFO thing. So we appreciate the cautionary warnings. That was enough for her to make up her mind about that.

PhilippinesSurvey about wedding bands
I got my filipina fiancee an diamond solitaire engagement ring when I visited her. She was absolutely thrilled. She more recently went and bought matching gold bands and had them engraved with our initials and anniversary date and mailed the one to me. I wear it all the time and she wears hers. We will get wedding bands and will wear them when we marry. She sends me photos when she sees a style she likes. She doesn't want to spend a lot on them, but it is important to her to have wedding rings. I love her and respect that and so I will be happy to wear a ring as well.

It's not only for ten years. It's until they worked for 10 years (40 quarters). If they don't work, you're on the hook for even longer.

As somebody pointed out, one has to pay in to social security/medicare for 10 years. So when I said working, it's assuming one has worked in the US in a legal position (not being paid under the table), and thus having payroll tax withheld and paid into the SSA on their bahalf.

you can get a divorce in the USA. the 10 years is now long the I-864 will be in effect. even if you divorce after 3 years. you'll still be on the hook for 7 more years, unless she's become a citizen or returns to the Philippines.

PhilippinesSelf Employed Income Documentation

I would like some input regarding fiancé support documentation please......

I am self employed and a partner in 3 different businesses....I have filed an income tax return extension for 2012 and I do not receive the typical W2's or pay stubs.

Here is what I can provide-

2011 income tax returns that shows the 3 different business's and partnerships

Current letter of partnership in these business's

Copies of checks from income from these partnerships for the last 2 years

Copies of bank statements showing this income going into my personal bank account for the last 2 years

Copies of all my bank statements, investment accounts, life insurance showing my current assets

Verification of the current value of my house and mortgage balance... I have lots of equity

Will this be enough ??? anyone had problems with this sort of thing ?? My jobs and income documentation are not very normal but it is all there.

Any input on this would be great....just want to make sure I am doing as much as I can.

Thanks,

cjmc

If you want to include real estate, you should have a recent appraisal, and a copy of the deed showing you are the owner.

PhilippinesFiance tested positive for syphilis

Your partner once he has tested positive for Syphilis will always test positive (even after he has been successfully treated with meds) the virus can always be detected in your body with a simple blood test in your unfortunately he will always test positive.

My advice would be to get the medical care he needs and then allow the syphilis counts in his blood work system to reduced. So when they test him yes he will test positive for Syphilis but he will then have a successful record of treatment and a subsequent blood test which shows he has responded to the meds and his syphilis is reduced and successfully treated  - which means it is no longer communicable for immigration purposes.

Not sure what the time line is for successful treatment but his healthcare provider should be able to advise him.(may be a few months between the blood tests).

Also do not forget to be honest on the medical questionnaire when asked about STDs, actually tell them and when you have proof of successful treatment it shouldn't be an issue.

Sorry to hear your news, hope everything gets sorted soon.

Syphilis is caused by a bacteria, not a virus.  Yes the antibodies (not the bacteria) can remain in your blood  for years and thus result in a positive test result.

Might the fact that the fiance has a current STD be a red flag as far as it being a bonafide committed marriage relationship?

Hi VJer's
iam ronzkie female from the philippines i would just like to share my experiences and the process i went thru with my k1 visa petition. my fiance filed the petition last nov 15,2011 with forms included are I 129 f and G 325 a plus my recent passport/ visa pictures, cover letter, scanned letter of intent to marry, my childs birth certificate also filed as k2,affidavit of support documents... do you think we missed out any forms? or rqmnts?

last january 20 2012 we received our NOA 1- filed rcvd by Uscis though still waiting for the next NOA 2. waiting for long is soo stressful any comments or any one of you still waiting????

You should read the Guides (see top of page) for what should be included.

Both of you filled out G-325A and included your recent passport photos.
His birth certificate or complete passport copy.
Letters of intent to marry from both of you
Explanation of having met in person within the past two years.
Did you include evidence of having met in person within the last two years?
Evidence of ongoing relationship would be helpful.
Were you or he previously married? Certified copy of judgement of divorce should be included.
The affidavit of support is not normally filed with the I-129F.

Did you fill out the form with the petition that authorizes email confirmation? I got a text and email like a week after I mailed. It took around two weeks to receive the paper notice of action from the time I mailed it. I also mailed it on a Saturday and it was confirmed by the post office on Monday. Though sometimes when I mail stuff the tracking updates are not completed just like you said, but the green card eventually comes back. Since you only mailed 8 days ago, I wouldn't be worrying about it at this point.

It seems the timeline is really unreliable. It seems that a lot of people start a timeline but then don't update it. I took a sampling of members with unfinished timelines and judging by the fact they haven't posted anything in months, seems that they probably quit the updating process before completion. So the data set for calculating the estimates just isn't there.

So my fiance called today again and they are still on 18th July. They said to him that even if he called the senator, that would slow down our process. They said he can only file for a service request when our date is past due. Like when they start working on 6th August and after.

This whole slowing down is so depressing. I cannot concentrate at work.. I cry the whole time.. I mean, right now I would be married and enjoying my love. Most of my vj friends got approved within 2-4 months.

Sigh......

My gosh, that's crazy. I hope the person your fiance talked to was just quoting off the same chart that we see (December 31st data that was posted on Feb. 5th). I mean if they didn't make one day of progress in a month and a half, then it will take forever to get approved.

hi every one .. kinda newbie here .. just want to find more friends here to help me bout information bout processing of visa going to US ;) hope to here u all soon ;)

From your headline, I take it you already filed the I-129F. As you will read here, processing of petitions has slowed down recently. The target processing time is 5 months, however a lot of people are waiting significantly longer than that. You can expect 6, 7, or even more months to get NOA2. It is somewhat random, where some have lucked out and got in only a few months, but that's quite rare. We are waiting for the latest processing update from USCIS for the report dated January 31, 2013 to see what receipt date they are supposedly processing.

As the previous poster referred you to sources of information. Spend the time educating yourself on the process, and anticipate the next steps so you can be prepared.
