Well, they send the e-mail version pretty quickly. The hard copy I don't know. Mail never shows up to his place so if we waited for that, I'd be waiting for years on end. I thought that in the VJ time line where it says "received packet" meant the snail mail version :P. So much for being a "gold member" I will now go put those times in my signature to be helpful (Sorry The Jesal).

Ah i didnt know there was email version of that.

Hmm bet i can just have her print it out and it be enough proof to get her PCC? Great news if so! Thanks!

Teya, you crazy mofo! Nice work!

Question, has the NVC sent the ds230 to your hubby yet? Guess im wondering what the time is between the NO2 and the DS230 packet being sent?

I know there are steps inbetween but im trying to figure out when i can get my wife her PCC, she needs that checklist to get it. grr.

I don't know these people's backgrounds but here is something that I had read. Attending the interview is good. I'm not trying to scare you. I just want anyone who is going into a hard situation to be prepared.

Im not scared. At that point I will be with the wife again so i dont mind if im "stuck" there for a bit with her. ;)

Guess I will read up more about Mumbahi vs Delhi. I read the reviews on both from the top of the forum link and they both seem to have their fair of issues.

The Jesal, New Dehli (if you haven't read Amit N Melody's post) is really quick at giving out "give me more info" documents at the interview stage and putting you through AP.

I read but her situation is different as shes white with kids. I know its wrong but new Delhi from what i hear is old fashion and strict so that could have been a factor why she was put on AP.

Were there any more cases of Indian couples being put on AP? Guess i could switch to the Mumbai, main reason i wanted to go to New Delhi is because they allow me to attend the interview. Wife liked that idea.

Can some one throw light on what is going on? Is it that just Indians are getting delayed here or every one is in the same boat?
I check my emails 7-8 times in the night between 8-11pm EST just to check to see if I got any response and every time I am unsatisfied. I dont understand what takes so long when a person with NOA 1 on March 1, gets NOA 2 on June 2 and the 5TH March is delayed till now?? Johndoe do you have any idea about this? My frustration level is at its peak and I am helpless here.....

I dont mean to come off as rude, but you need to take a set back and relax with this whole process.

Go into NVC with a clear mind otherwise you might panic and forget something that needed to be done. Take it a step at a time.

We all experiencing the same as you, its not only the indian folks. Like my wife says "Its out of our hands but our day will come and forever is ours after"

Whats wrong with New Dehli?

Yea im sitting here trying not to think about it.

Bugs me that my wife cant get her PCC until she receives her checklist from NVC.

I wanted to send in her DS230 before she even received her checklist. Guess that i wont happen now.

Ah well, at least the wheels will be turning at that point for us. :)

Jesal - Good one. I was hoping for the same. Since you wife is from Gujarat as well, I was hoping you get yours first so that I can get information from you :)

either way, whoever gets their NOA2 first, should help others out. Unlike others on the forum who don't seem to be replying back to my question about the NVC checklist.

No worries buddy, ill help you out for sure!

I would go that route for now. Just mention in your cover letter that Passport office PCC will be provided at the time of the interview due to the following reason.

And then just hope that they dont send you a RFE. And if they do decide to send you a RFE, then you would have to have your spouse get it from AMD office.

I think its worth the gamble. By sending everything into the NVC before the wife gets the checklist saves us about a week or two of transit/processing time, rite?

If we get RFE for it, then by the time they do that the wife would get her checklist and just get the PCC anyways. That would take about week time as well. So kinda balances out, no?

Sometimes i wonder if i should just wait till the wife gets her checklist and gets the PCC from the passport office then just send everything in at once. Would i be wasting too much time then?

This of course me assuming the passport office even gives the PCC on the same day.

Just realized something. I know someone who used to live in Anand. They have some clothing shop or something. your wife might know them as well.

You saying my wife likes to shop?!?! Wait... she does. Ha, yea she most likely would know which clothing shop it is.

Vadodara is really nice. We always go there when I visit since we have many friends there. I tend to get bored in Anand.

Which embassy are you planning to attend for interview?

Shes from Anand. Shes currently out of town this week but next week she will try to get it at her local station. Im not TOO worried, we have a cousin who knows the police pretty well so if anything i can just call him and im sure he can help.

Isnt that how it always works, you need money or know people to get anything done in India. Blah.

How about your wife? Where she from?

Jesal - I would say October because let say u get it approved by June 12...it might take 2 weeks to get it to NVC so that is basically end of June. About month and a half to get through NVC stage. That would be around middle of August and by then they would have already scheduled September interviews. So realistically October assuming no issues at all.

Yea that sounds about right, i forget that it takes time to get to NVC.

All i know is as soon as the interview date is set, im going to book my ticket and fly out few weeks before her interview.

October 11th is her birthday, would be a great gift to get her Visa near that!

Im a little worried about the PCC. Guess the local station and passport office in India wont give my wife her PCC until she shows them the letter that comes with her DS-230.

She recently just had her passport updated and from what i hear they do a police check before issuing new passports. Will NVC accept just that for now and then maybe show the PCC at the interview?

Its the ONLY missing piece i have currently. grr

TomD - i would say that NVC process will take about a month (with no RFE or any delays from your part). Then add in another 4-6 weeks for the interview call. So that being said the time would be about 2.5 months after NOA2.

Whoa thats it? It would be amazing if i can get her visa before her birthday in October!

I am 29 and she is 24. Giggity.

Only reason I am not freaking out is because of this thread.

If all of you were getting your NOA2 and i wasnt, then i would start being concerned.

I dont even look at my timeline to be honest otherwise i would worry. For now i just spend as much time as i can enjoying my conversations with my wife via webcam, phone and yahoo chat without any added stress about some predicted timeframe. As long as i know im doing the right steps then im happy. Not much more i can do at this point.

Hi All,
When I submitted our I-130 package I used what I though was my wifes new name. First Middle Last. Now she wants to use First Maiden Last. She will be getting her passport renewed using the latter name and I will use that name on future paperwork submitted. Is it going to be a problem because I used a slightly different name in the I-130 Package? Can I do or submit something now to provide clarification the the USCIS or NVC? Or should I not worry about this as long as her passport and remaining paperwork match.

I used my wifes maiden name for the I-130 but she wanted to change her passport to her married name. So i was concerned and asked a member here who went through it. This was their reply and is what i plan on doing.

"
Since this is the name she is now using I would use the married name on the DS-230 you will submit to NVC. The DS-230 asks for the current family name (which would be her married name) and there is also a box for other names used where she would put her maiden name. That would clear up any discrepancies between the I-130 petition and the DS-230."

Hmmmm, my NOA1 is dated March 22, 2010 but I'm curious to know why I haven't received any touches. I signed-up for email and text notification on the USCIS site where it states, "Sign-up for Case Updates". The "case update" still says, "We received your Petition on March 22, 2010....". Is this normal?

Yes normal. You wont receive an email or text for when "touched".

Go to the USCIS site and click on "sign-in to my account" on the left side. https://egov.uscis.g.../jsps/login.jsp

Log in and you will see where its been last updated.
