Hi All ....

I guess that's any hope of a May interview out of the window then - I didn't realise that all next month's interviews had been allocated already. sad.gif

Is it too early to be worried? I keep seeing you lovely people getting interview dates before me ... and am beginning to wonder if there is a problem with the docs I sent in. I suppose everyone's circumstances are different and that all applications take different amounts of time ...

Oh well ... no chance of our mid-June wedding now .... sad.gif

Have a great week everyone ...

Moira x

I've been calling DOS every other day and they tell me Pat is qualified for an interview, but no date has been assigned yet. In my mind I keep thinking.. FFS if they know she's all set for an interview, why can't they just assign one?? Paper shuffling between desks?

I'll give it another few days then start digging into it.. maybe have Pat call the expensive line, get the email code and carry on from there I guess.

Bob

They stopped action on their Visa. She wrote this a while ago. (Damn couldn't get the link tag to work)

A couple of you know but we are cancelling our visa application. Things have gone too far downhill to even think about emigrating and getting married at the moment.

I won't be around much so I wish you all good luck.

we left it blank cause we dont know yet!

We left ours blank too, although I suspect we should have thrown something in there. Returned packet 3, 15 days ago. DOS says Pat is approved for an interview but no date has been assigned yet.

It's nice to see you got a May interview PB&JAM, some friends of ours on here (stardust86) got a mid-June interview which seems like forever to me.. I'm hoping we get May.

Looks like the numbers have been increasing each month. I wonder if they are processing things faster, or there are more VJ people going through the process or just what the reason is.

I hope we can add our name to the May list soon. I'll call the DOS tomorrow and see if anything has changed. Last week when I called they said Pat was approved for an interview but no date had been assigned yet. I need all the lead-time I can get because I'm flying there to be with her at the interview... reserving vacation time, airfare, etc.

Sort of blush.gif. This morning I phoned that expensive line at London Embassy and he told me that the appointment letter has been sent. Since I'm at work and my postman doesn't arrive till 1:30 pm I have no idea whether the letter will be there on not when I get home. Packet 3 took 4 days to arrive. So no, I haven't received packet 4 as yet wink.gif. And yes, I've sent it on 20th April and they received it on 21th April. Sorry you've been waiting so long. I just asked the same question in the NOA2 - Interview thread...so if someone just wants to answer it here, thats fine!

We returned our packet 3 on the 11th (12 days ago). I just called the DOS and they said Pat is approved for an interview but they have not set a date yet. 2 days ago when I called, they couldn't tell me anything except that her packet 3 did arrive.

Hope I'm not too late to chime on in the tea-talk. I just got home from visiting Patricia in Manchester.. 18 wonderful days together. (well minus one day for her medical.. that wasn't so wonderful)

Pat drinks PG Tips and Typhoo. We were able to find both of them stocked online at The English Tea Store. My local grocery store just started stocking curry paste so I guess we're set for that too.

Regarding kettles. I have a whistling kettle that sits on the stove but I guess that's 'not proper', so I'm shopping for an electric kettle. And after seeing Pat's in operation and how fast it boils water, I don't think I'll use the stove-top whistler again.

Just another yank trying to make the States feel like home.

No, apparently the reason I waited for nearly an hour for him to come out from customs was that the new (all black) suitcase he had purchased just before the trip was generally indistinguishable from several other all black suitcases going around on the carousel. *facepalm* Immigration and everything else was easy-breezy.

For christmas, he's getting a nice, colorful luggage belt thingy.

Pat came with two suitcases.. one old beat up blue one that she could recognize easily and one new bright pink one. There would be no missing that one on the conveyor... it positively glowed. In fact it looked "too-new". At the time of her POE airport security was leery of any new looking bags. Before she packed it, she had her son drag it up and down the street to "age" it a bit.

The estimates give you a general idea of where you stand from NOA1 to NOA2, based on member updates to their timeline. In my case, the estimates were right on the money.

I'm not sure what has happened in the past few days, but we were estimated to receive NOA2 in the first week of March with a range of 4 days. Then yesterday, (Feb 26th) we suddenly got pushed back to the 1st week of May and the range got expanded to 4 weeks.

Last night in the middle of trying to settle our stress over this 8 week setback, I received an email from USCIS that our petition was approved. It couldn't have come at a better time for Patricia's and my mental health.

This is why it's not a good thing to pay TOO much attention to the VJ timelines.

They are a helpful guide, but each case is different.

In other words...your mileage may vary.

Statistical accuracy or not.

Lessons learned in my stats classes have been coming back to me as we've been on this ride. And the data here has been so fun to suck into a spreadsheet and play/juggle/analyze.

Yes I know that not a good thing to pay TOO much attention to the VJ timelines but... it's soooo difficult to ignore them. wink.gif

Kathryn

My wife died intestate. The only life insurance policy she held was at her workplace. Her eldest daughter is the named beneficiary (she made that arrangement shortly after the child's birth in 1991, and never got around to altering it). I am the beneficiary of a small 401K fund, due to there being no other named beneficiary.

With regard to the affadavits, I'd sooner get them from the friends Amber and I met and socialised with as a couple, along with one from her brother. I think that will be more than sufficient; I don't want to put the kids through any more hassle.

Yes, I guess I can do that, but surely it becomes wholly irrelevant as evidence now that Amber has passed? Or am I missing something?

Like a few others here, We only just found out. Our condolences go out to you Damian and, to your wife's children.

I'm not sure about the others on the forum, but this thread is a wake up call to me to make sure I've got my insurance and 401.k beneficiary forms taken care of. Our bank accounts are joint, but the house which I purchased before I even knew Pat remains in my name. The only way to change that is to re-finance .

Nich, you've always been a treasure for this group and from what I've been reading here, you continue to be so. God bless you.

Hi!
Can anyone tell me how you know if your case arrived at NVC and how you get a case number. Our approval notice was dated Februar 27th and we got the hard copy March 7th.
We still haven´t heard anything. Does the petitioner get a letter again?
I really hope we are not in security checks again?
Or do you get stuck in security checks every time when you got stuck in them once?
- I hope not!
We are so ready to finally get married!

You can call the NVC (603) 334-0700

For the K-1 you'll have to speak to someone. Press 1 for English, then 5 to speak to someone. Be prepared t give them your receipt number and date of birth for both beneficiary and petitioner.

They will be able to tell you the case number they assigned it, if it arrived yet, or if it was sent to the embassy.

Good luck!

If you have setup a timeline and you check it regularly you might have noticed the following:

Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between March 22, 2009 and April 26, 2009*.

You might also be observant enough to notice the two dates are constantly changing. For instance a week ago, or maybe it was earlier this week when I last looked, the dates for this area of my timeline showed April 4, 2009 and May13, 2009. Today it shows what you see above.

Even this can be misleading because it is only based on reported timelines here at VJ. Although it is somewhat of a guide. I'm hopeful but I'm not going to hold my breath if I don't see it adjudicated by March 22nd.

Our dates started out 10 days apart and in early May. It worked all the way down to a 5 day spread for mid-March, then suddenly in the week we were approved (Feb 26th) it jumped to a 30 day spread over may-june. You really can't count on those dates.

Then again others have said they are dead-on. Your mileage may vary.

CSC hasnt been updating the case status, and many people have gotten hard copy NOA2s without touches or anything like that online. And no, where we live doesnt have an effect on if we are approved or not, but it DOES affect how fast the mail will get here from California. For example, if everyone who recieved the hard copy NOA2 is from the west coast, then those of us who are in the midwest would still be waiting.

We got an email notification the evening of our approval date. There were two NOA2's in my mail box 3 days later. For what it's worth I live in the Chicago area.

I'm sure they're just fine.

Have you all finished gathering things for the Next Phase? I'm thinking it may take a while for my SO to get the various different documents.

It's always good to be ready for the next step. While we were waiting for NOA2, I was familiarizing myself with the NVC process. How long it takes, what I can expect coming out of there, phone number for status, etc. You can find all that info her on VJ somewhere.

The next long lead-time item I'd think about is the police report needed for the interview. I know for the UK (where Pat lives) its valid for a year, but I can't speak for everywhere, check for your beneficiary's country. Remember you can't return your packet 3 w/o having the police report in-hand.

There's no such thing as being too prepared here... even if its just for your own piece-of-mind to understand the process.

Having said that, your mileage may vary, void where prohibited by law, insert your favorite standard disclaimer here.

Hi, we filed our 129F on December 5, 2008, and were issued NOA1 as of December 8, 2008.

I read that some November filers in California received their NOA2s this week! Yoohoo, fingers crossed!

Good luck to you all....

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,

Your dates match ours. We priority mailed our 129F on Friday Dec 5th and our NOA1 was issued on Monday the 8th.

I also saw some November and October filers in the the NOA2 list this morning. I was going to write them and ask what Congress-critter they had in their back pocket. wink.gif

Thanks for the good luck wishes and back at ya,
Bob & Patricia

Hey everyone.

Just wanted to see how you are all keeping. So now that December is over and done this is it now. The chance to become a CSC December filer is now over, our lines are now closed...

So where are you all? There must be more than this.... Well if this is it then that's OK.

Well I hope everyone is doing well. As time goes by it brings us further away from the day we sent our petition but closer to our day of approval... Hopefully.

So Deanna is coming to visit me in the UK in only 4 days after nearly 100 days apart. So I am very excited about that.

Anyway, hang in there everyone and look forward to hearing from you all.

Luke and Deanna

Now comes the wait. Looking for touches and making sure we have our ducks in order for the next batch of paperwork. We're doing this without an attorney so it's slightly stressful at times, researching, re-researching, and double checking everything we do.

Congrats on Deanna's upcoming visit! I'm going to see Patricia in April.. 3 months and 27 days (but who is counting) since I put her on a plane here in Chicago. This will be my first trip to the UK, and my first chance to meet my future in-laws... other then on web cam.

Deanna was almost a little sad to let it go after we put so much work into it.

I know the feeling. Patricia and I filled out some rough drafts early in November shortly after I proposed. We finished them up during her visit here the first week of December. All in all it was a 1/4 pound, (118 grams) letter that went off as our labor of love.

Let's hope by Christmas 2009 we'll all be happily married couples.

We are number 312 within standard processing time. Can't help but feel for the people who are out of standard processing times.

You moved up to 307 when I just now looked for us.

It looks promising that the latest N02A was granted to someone that applied 4 months ago.

Thanks for the heads up on the December filing group. I looks like we have more in common, then just December. Pat and I are a US/UK couple also

I look forward to info exchange as we get closer.

Good luck and all the best,
Bob & Patricia

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBIG MISTAKE?!!!
I'll echo what the others have said. There's no problem sending express mail and having a return receipt. It worked fine for us. Arrived in CA the 2nd day and our N01A was issued the following day.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChanging Return Flight?
QUOTE (Luke and Deanna @ Feb 22 2009, 06:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi Guys.

May seem a silly question but if I were to fly to the US on the Visa Waiver program and whilst there change my return date but still within the 90 days, is that allowed and if so would I need to tell anyone?

I want to visit my fiancee and my return is set for 2 weeks but I may want to stay longer depending on if our case gets adjudicated while I am there.

Hope everyone is well and happy.

Luke and Deanna.

I was looking at the VWP as a way to bring Patricia here in the event her house sells quickly before her K1 is granted. While they do require you have an exit strategy (return ticket) I didn't see anything that said the return date can't be changed. (Still keeping withing the 90 days)

Having said that, don't take my word for it. I'm just another amateur researcher going thru the same journey.

Good luck,
Bob
