Also, I have posted twice a question about the affidavit of support and how cosponsors answer question 3 and 10 on the I-134, but I have not gotten a reply yet. Does this mean that no one is quite sure yet?

I've never used a co-sponsor, myself, so I don't know.
Maybe try asking on the main K-1 forum?
You might get a better answer there.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2011 Filers!!!

VSC have twice as many to approve yet seem to be doing half as many every day as CSC.

Where do you get this number from?
Based on January figures, there are 22,496 cases still pending.
Of those, 11,796 are at VSC.
That's 52.4% of the total.

P.S. January data just got posted today.
http://dashboard.usc...e=6&charttype=1

P.P.S.
The estimated dates for CSC finally stopped spazzing today.
They're no longer a month+ range.

Is it just me or are things looking slow for CSC approvals over the last week or 2??

Based on these stats, they seem to be doing just fine.
Between 20-35 approvals every week since the start of the year.

I did notice a number of obvious expedite approvals, though.
People from Japan.

I'm trying to get some documents together and I wanted to double check if i was correct in that our Petitioner is suppose to fill out the I-864 Affidavit of Support? or is it a different form number?

I-134.

The I-864 is for when you're doing the AOS.
But the requirements are the same for both forms (poverty guidelines).

Just going a little off topic and ive been looking at igors list just now.
VSC has soooo many more petitions going through it, almost double infact!!

Are you looking at the Igor's List on the site, or the one here?
The problem with the second one is that all the people who are still listing 'Texas' as their service center get grouped in to Vermont. Even though a good number of them are probably California folks. That's why I've actually gotten into the habit of PMing people with Texas approvals asking them to update their service center.

As for actual stats,
It looks like California had less in October than Vermont, but more in November and December.
(Using the numbers here)

---

Anyways, start of a new week!
Hopefully we'll see some more approvals today from both service centers.
On a positive note, both Kata and I have lost over 30lbs a piece now on our diets.

Still dealing with the usual separation stress, even though we've got about a month before my trip over to the UK to see him.

Three months (hopefully) to go.

Hey everyone I hope you are continue in strength to be happy in this process! I was wondering how many packets do we need for the k1 visa process and at what stages will we need them? Thanks for the help:)

I think you're a bit confused on terminology.

Packet #1: Is the application form you sent in to USCIS (your I-129F, G-325A, proofs, etc.)
Packet #2: Is the information sent from USCIS after approval to NVC and from NVC to the Embassy (I think - not 100% sure)
Packet #3: Is the information you get from the embassy (website or through mail) with the DS forms and the actual visa application. You send these back to them when they are filled out (follow instructions).
Packet #4: Is the interview date letter.

so what are the tax returns i need from ashley? I am very confused about them as we dont have them here in the UK.

Ive got every other angle covered, just unsure about these

You'll need the 2010 tax returns or a transcript.
If you do the return, you need the full tax form (1040/1040-A/1040-EZ whichever it is) and all the sub-forms that were filled out along with it. In addition, you'd need the W-2, and any 1099 or other forms reported.

In general, if you can get a transcript, that would be a better idea.
bobbyA claims: My 2010 tax transcript was available for order 1 week after my e-filing was accepted by the IRS, but I'm still waiting for it. I am guessing it will arrive this week.

I just filed this past weekend.
So I probably won't try to get a transcript right away.

I did get the two previous years (2008 and 2009) transcripts, since those are needed for the AOS, I believe. There's a phone number you can call to order tax transcripts.

http://www.visajourn...got-noa2-today/

Timeline is little out of sync with his signature. Not sure with NOA1 date to actually use, the first one with incorrect fees or second one. Either way, very recent and originally they were January filers. With another Jan 10th coming through yesterday I am kind of getting excited.

Yeah.
That's the same one that's showing up on the list right now.
There isn't a second one.
They're actual timeline is correct with California.

My guess is they are probably in that group that got processed that are late Jan, early Feb filers.
If you assume the second set of dates is their real NOA1, it fits right in that group.

Just a heads up. There were 2 January 10th petitions approved by CSC yesterday. Only 1 shows on Igor's list because the other person incorrectly is put into the Texas bucket. For those near that NOA date at CSC, be prepared as it appears like they are indeed still mixing recent petitions with older ones.

Praying for everyones quick approval!

I'm not seeing the second one (the Texas one) on the list at all.

I've got a binder of relationship evidence, myself.
Some of the people in the UK sub-forum say that they don't even look at that sort of thing, but I have it anyways.
Kata is supposed to go get his vaccinations done, and has most of his medical records.
I think he still needs a record of when he was hospitalized for a surgery a few years back.

Our biggest thing right now is that he moved, and he wasn't able to get mail forwarding. He has someone at the old place who said he'd send on any mail, but not exactly dependable. So we've got kind of a short window between approval and embassy to get it updated. At the very least, though, if we miss it we can still get packet 3 off the embassy website. Just need to make sure it's done before packet 4.

I'm thinking too far ahead again, aren't I?

So. seeing as we are all waiting around for our nao2's. Why dont we start thinking about what we need for the next step.

I have already applied for my police cert, and have asked ashley to gather her copies of her tax returns. (I believe for London, you only need the last year, and 6 months pay stubs)

What else can i do??

Ben

I had Kata get a spare copy of his birth certificate.
And he's starting on his police certificate today.

I already ordered tax returns for the past two years, and just finished my current year's taxes.
I'm wondering if it's too early to get an employment letter, or if I even need it. I've heard that the returns and pay stubs are enough in London, and I hate asking for stuff from HR. They tend to give me that 'questioning' look.

Two over the phone, one in e-mail.

I think the surprise visits are a sweet idea.
I'm just glad to be able to have my April visit with Kata.

It's kind of strange, now that we're past the two-month mark, how the time apart seems so much longer.
We've had stretches of nearly five months without a visit, but now it feels /longer/ than that.

We're listening to the book-on-CD version of Beastly lately. (I saw the cruddy movie version last weekend.)
We still haven't quite managed to do the 'watching movies together' thing.

I had a question for everyone. I am a new member to the site. I haven't been able to find anything concerning if you all have filed yourselves or are going through an immigration attorney. I'm sure you know the risks and price differences for going either route. I was just curious, are the majority of people using attorneys or filing themselves?

We're self-filers.
This is actually my (petitioner) second time going through this process.

To be honest, being a second-time filer for a foreign fiance(e) might be a "red flag" itself, but I'm far more comfortable being in control of my own destiny than putting it in the hands of a lawyer, especially hearing some horror stories of people on here and just how little some lawyers out there actually know.

I have one question before i part, me and ash arnt formally engaged yet, i plan to ask in the coming months, but my question is......if i planned to ask in the usa, do u think it would be wise going through security with the ring? Im thinking it would raise unecessary alarm bells with security, becase obv i would have it in my hand luggage. However, if found, i would surely br able to state that i am applying for i129f and a k1 if approved, and tehrefor dont plan to overstay etc.....

What are your thoughts??

Ben!

I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I don't think the people looking at your hand luggage even know your marital status.

As an example, I gave Kata a ring which he wears, and he has never been questioned about it, ever.
He's been back and forth with it for three trips now, wearing it each way.

Hey guys I hear everyone talking about medicals and I guess I can ask a question. I am going to see my fiance in Honduras next month, I was wondering if we could go ahead and get his medical done while I am there and get his vaccinations done, IDK I read somewhere that the medical is good for one year...in that case is it safe for us to take it or do you think it is better if I call the US Embassy in Honduras and ask them? Thanks for your help!

You can go ahead to a normal doctor and get the vaccinations done, that's certain.

I'm not sure about Honduras, but I believe that you need to actually have a case number at the embassy itself so that they can match up information from your medical to the case. You'd need the case number that comes out of NVC after approval.

At least with the UK, you need to have your LND# (DOS case number) before you can make a medical appointment.
Perhaps try asking in the area-specific forums below?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2011 Filers!!!

Hey guys!

Just a short note about the vaccinations - I based my vaccination requirements on this list:
http://www.travel.st.../info_1331.html

I assume that list should be correct and up-to-date, what do you think? Like Diana, thanks to my Mom I had a little leaflet with info on all the shots Ive had ever since I was born, and I took that with me to the nurse. I only had the Hep B to get as a new one but while I was at it I got some of the others reinforced (and also because my employer agreed to pay for some of the vaccination costs - lucky me, they prolly wouldn't have done that had they known they're for me to quit my job and move out of the country - oops!).
Anyway, the nurse told me that they don't vaccinate adults against Rotavirus, do you know if this is really true? I've never even heard of Rotavirus before, adn according to her it is something that only newborns can get. The nurse also transferred all the records of my vaccinations on an International Certificate of Vaccination by World Health Organization (a little yellow leaflet), but that might not be official enough once filing for AOS. I remember reading somewhere that when you go to your physical, you should ask your doctor for (hold on, I have it written down somewhere) - the Department of State's vaccination worksheet (or an official copy) DS-3025, and that is in fact what you need to have for AOS. But yeah, like TwoCats said, the shots should not be necessary until AOS, but I guess different countries have different requirements, also as what comes to what vaccinations you in fact need. I dont even know if I need all the ones on the list mentioned above, but as I always worry and rush into things too quickly, I just had them done before doing a lot of research :-( With all these vaccines I consider myself a superwoman now :P

-Eve

I think this statement is the important part:

Only a physician can determine which of the listed vaccinations are medically appropriate for you, given your age, medical history and current medical condition.

What that is saying is that the physician can tell you what ones are age appropriate from the list. By no means do you need ALL of the ones listed, especially as some of them simply will not be age appropriate.

The UK Embassy has a list which includes age-ranges for vaccines. (link here)

While I'm not absolutely certain, I can't see a reason why the requirements would change based on the beneficiary country.
It isn't the individual country's requirements, but the U.S. Government requirements.
But better to ask the embassy/physician if you aren't sure.

I think you're actually fine.
It is the doctor's responsibility to verify that you have the age appropriate vaccines.
So I think that's what it's saying.

In either case, I have read multiple times across threads that the vaccinations are needed at the AOS stage. Getting them done now just gets them out of the way. But since Heb B isn't required (I can't see why it would be different between countries), I wouldn't worry over it.

People. I've been meaning to ask for your advice / knowledge about something. The dreadful vaccines/shots!! <dun dun DUN>

So luckly and thanks to my beloved and awesome mother, I still have my vaccins table thingy where they say that I have ALL the shots but one... the HEP B one...
I was sick most of feb. and couldn't really start with the shots in time (takes 6 months to get the 3 total) :bonk:  do you think it's going to be an issue if I have all of them except for that one? I've read that you need them all for the AOS, but not necessarily for the K1 medical... is this true???

Ill whole heartedly appreciate ur inputs!!

God Bless,

Diana

Are you actually required to have that vaccination?
I can't seem to find anything on the US-Embassy Guatamala site, but on the UK one, it shows that Hep B is only needed if you are age 18 or under. The only ones it shows for 19+ is Td/Tdap, MMR, and Varicella (chicken pox).

As far as I'm aware, you don't /need/ to have the vaccinations for the K-1, but it is required for the AOS, so it's suggested you get them before/during the K-1 medical.

That was not my intent. Just reporting what I was told, so people could be informed.

It's not a /bad/ thing.
No worries!

Great hockey kiss video! Is there somewhere I can access the "estimated NOA2 date"? It would be nice to have some type of date as an idea.

Just got home from a surprise visit to Canada. He was really excited and shocked to see me. Of course when it was time to go we said our goodbyes as I was in line at the ticket counter and he left. Then my flight was cancelled so I stayed one more night. I was thrilled about that but the second goodbye was sooo much harder.

Glad you guys enjoyed.
I know I did at the time, heh.

It was a nice cheer-me-up for both Kata and I.

He's been having a lot of trouble with his mom lately.
She's one of those people who needs help, but you can't do a thing for them because they can't admit that /they/ are the cause of the problems in their lives, not everyone else. Right now, he's being targeted because he called his father and two half-siblings on Christmas. Apparently that's a gross betrayal in her eyes. Bleh.

So, I mentioned a while back that during one of Kata's last visits, we went to a local hockey game.
The two of us ended up on the 'Kiss Cam' at the game.

I remember thinking at the time that it would have been neat to send screencaps from that with our petition.
However, I never had time to follow up on it at the time.

Well, a few weeks back I contacted the hockey organization (The Chicago Wolves) and they were awesome enough to offer me a DVD of the 'Kiss cam' moment if i was willing to make a donation to their charity organization. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity and gave an enthusiastic YES! So, after only a week or so's wait, I have the video of us from the hockey game!

I've already taken some screen-grabs, but I thought I'd share:
