well i would be glad to answer this question. First i will state the common known fact that most Filipina make the best wives! In the states this is common knowledge. Next, on a more personal note, I have also had 2 divorces from American wives. I am not saying that it was their fault but it was a difference between western and filipina value systems. Most western women that i have experienced have a value system based on being "spoiled" growing up, not to say that they are spoiled but the life they experienced is far different than the average filipina. This makes a filipina much more grateful for the hard work and things here Bana can provide as well as having a strong devotion to family and her husband. Most American men find these to be the most important qualities in a wife. Filipina are most times loyal to their husbands with little desire to have other "men experiences" clouding their minds, thinking about what else might be out there or what they might be missing. The thing I personally looked for in my wife was a good heart, strong compassion for others, and a solid belief in the marriage vows we took. I have learned that these are values most Filipina have in common with each other and I believe this makes them very desirable for a spouse. I hope this answers your question.

I have not met ONE American woman who i felt was worth marrying, and i have met lot's. Untrustworthy, spoiled, uncaring, irreverent, selfish, etc.
The feminist movement ruined the American woman IMO. They don't glory in their womanhood, in what it means to be a REAL woman like the average Filipina does.
They are too busy trying to rule over their husbands.
BUT, the men here are not the same either. For instance, the kind of young men who built hoover dam, fought WWII, led by example, are all but gone.
They have been replaced by scared, lazy, video game playing punks. Even the men who actually work are so full of fear its pathetic. Take away their cell phone, their tivo, or watch them get a flat tire on a highway and they turn into women.
This country is seriously screwed. Atheism/homosexuality/abortion/drugs/porn/greed and feminism have completely wrecked us.
The Filipina is a throwback to what an American woman used to be, and i praise God that i found one that is truely my soulmate.

Is this not the gallery of the insecure men! I'm sure these guys haven't looked into the mirror and asked why they are rejected by American women and have to find subservient women to make them feel "like a man?"

Btw...fair enough to say if you have a particular flavor. But I think these examples here prove that many of these men have serious issues that goes beyond having a companion and someone to love.

I think London is likely one of the most laid back embassies there is. I'd have to ask Nicky again, but I don't think he was in there more than 20 minutes. I think they only asked him a few questions. They asked how we met and he told them a U2 concert...and the guy interviewing him happened to be a big fan so a good chunk of the interview was a U2 discussion lol.

It's better being over prepared than being under prepared, however...from Nicky's experience our case was already approved before the interview (he got to peek inside the file and it already had the approved stamp in it). It seems that the interview is more of a going through the motions type of thing in London.

I wish it was 20 mins. More like 2 hours. But yeah the actual interview itself lasted 2 mins. Just allot of waiting around. When I got to the window the guy had my folder out in front of him, it had a big red APPROVED stamped across it. So I was fairly confident of getting the visa. smile.gif

Ok I thought the actual time spent speaking to someone was 20 minutes...or else I just put a "0" behind the two.

I bet you think your wife never listens eh? :-p

My fiance and I have applied for the K-1 fiance visa and I'm just learning that they perform a drug test. He smoked weed recently but it will be over a month until the test will take place. How long until the drug is out of his system and how far back is the test for? Please help I'm so worried!

I know you weren't asking for a morality lesson so I'll just answer your question. From what I've heard, the time frame is about 6 weeks. But that's usually for people whom are moderate to heavy smokers. Moderate could mean 4-5 times a week and heavy is pretty much an everyday smoker. If his smoking is sporadic then a couple of weeks should be enough time to flush out the THC. A month is much better. But just in case, he can take those detox kits. They shouldn't be too hard to find.

Oh and one more thing. When he gets to the "do you do drugs" question...lie.

#######? We do not advocate lying as part of the visa process. It is against VJ's Terms of Service.

Actions have consequences.

Me and my fiance are very honest people. We are going to say it was "experimentation", which is exactly what it was. His tests would come up negative but we would still be lying, and after a long thought, I'm not sure I could do that.

I have heard so many stories about how people are separated from their loved ones for 3 years, even if they are clearly not a threat. I fully intend on writing to the president about this sort of thing. Our own president has used drugs in the past and see how he turned out? I'm sure he would understand.

It is a difficult decision but one must live with the choices they make in life. I wish you the best in whatever decision you make because you will have to live with it for the rest of your life.

Oh jeez guys, if EVERYONE admitted their past drug use 100% honestly there would be hardly anyone getting approved to get in this country. The world isn't black and white, and honestly jasman you could use a joint to help you relax a bit. It isn't like the guy is using smack on a regular basis...heck he isn't even a garden variety pot head. Even if he was I'd rather have him as a neighbor than a raging alcoholic.

Yeah a lot of people don't admit how often they really do use, but I'm one in the category where the odd j once or twice a year doesn't bother me. I don't seek it out but if someone has it around I don't mind it to add to an evening of relaxation.

What is interesting is how many closet pot smokers there are in the business world. I've had several collegues admit it to me after a few drinks how they like to relax after a stressful day with a j and a scotch (men) or a cosmo (women).

When we were kids I had a pet hamster and I bought a box of hamster yummies. (They look like chocolate wafers but God knows what's in them. Certainly not chocolate.) Anyway, one night, my older evil sister (whom I know would have pushed me out of the nest if we'd been birds) asked me if I'd like a chocolate wafer and I said yes. Obviously, she handed me a hamster yummy, but I was a very trusting sort. I'm pretty sure I saw horns emerge on her head when I started eating it. As I spit it out crying "Are these hamster yummies?" crying.gif she nearly died laughing. To this day I still remember that horrid taste and texture. Have you tried them, yet, Gemmie? innocent.gif

I used to give my hampster a baby carrot, and it would stick the whole thing in the pouch on the side of it's mouth. It looked like a huge tumor sticking out of the side of my rodent!

Just got back from the DMV. God that place is just one long queue. Tom Cruise. I think he was probably gay once, but he seems pretty twisted by Scientology now, same goes for Travolta, and there were reports that Jada Pinkett Smith had a lesbian lover on the side. What is it with these Scientologists!

Tom seems to always be searching for the answer. He was going to be a priest for a while...he even went to a seminary for about a year. Then Scientology got a hold of him and he the way of Jacko sans surgery. Though Tom seems to hide it better there are lots of Travolta gay stories out there...in the gay community it is the biggest secret everyone knows about.

I've heard about Jada Pinkett Smith, but it seems like she keeps that pretty much on the DL too. These guys make the Beckhams look like the Cleavers!

He was a flight attendant with United for 15 years and he met many well known people. He named Olivia de Haviland as one of his favorites...he said she wore a Chanel suit complete with a pillbox hat and pearls for her flight!

But of course he dished about who was really gay. Not terribly suprising really, but he said John Travolta and Tom Cruise definitly registered as "gay" on his gaydar.

Bono seems cool. Isn't he super short?

Yes he is indeed very short. I believe I was wearing sneakers, and he had huge chunky shoes on. I would put him a tall 5'5"...and that is likely being generous.

He is quite the nice guy, though I feel sorry for him as people are always harrassing him. When I'm in Dublin I like to go out to Killiny where he lives...a lot of famous people reside there and the beach is quite nice. One time I was up there a tour bus dropped a load of Italian school children in front of his house where they all started yelling and running around crazy like young teenage kids do. *shudders* It's one thing if you respectful and don't loiter but it is another to drop schoolkids off there to draw grafitti and just being general nuisances.

How did you meet Bono?

Of all places, in Lincoln, Nebraska! He was doing a lecture tour for DATA and spent World AIDS Day in Lincoln and had a lecture/concert which included Lance Armstrong, Bobby Shriver (RFK's/JFK's nephew) Dario Franchetti and Ashley Judd. Lincoln isn't that big of a city...so basically there was only 1 really top notch hotel that he would likely stay at. Some of my friends and I ended up meeting Bobby Shriver and he told us where to hang out and meet Bono and he said he would give a heads up to Bono that he had a few fans waiting around. So we did...and well Bono came out and it was just me and my friends there. He was very friendly, chatted with us for a bit until a mad rush of people realized Bono was hanging out by the hotel and ran over. I got a pic just before he took off.

Oh, and Lance Armstrong is an #######. Just sayin'...

Party next weekend!! WOOOOHOOO!!! Gillian can't make it after all but she is hoping to be here for Halloween... I still have to nag Jeremy into inviting his friends or it will be a pretty small party... it is looking likely that Tucson Chick from the July K-1 crowd will be here with her hubby - but other than that it is Pointy and Maven and me and Jeremy ohmy.gif Oh dear...

J is having a hard time at work right now though so I don't want to nag too much - he is looking for another job as he is sick of how things are going at his place mad.gif

Parties yay! This weekend past went to a local Brit meet-up...met Catrock from this board and her husband. Hope they didn't get lost in Gary Indiana again...

Hmm, reading the blurb on the Iowa DMV site, looks like I'll need either the EAD or greencard to apply for a license here. They should give me an honorary license for being one of the only people to stick to the speed limit here tongue.gif

Stu

Hahaha...Iowa's speed limit is ridiculously slow (on I-80). It was always hard for me going from Nebraska (I-80 speed limit 75) to Iowa (65...or at least that was what it was last time I drove through).

Have you given gravel roads a try yet?

Well it helps that I was CR-1, and had an SSN from being on a J-1 before, just needed the card to be re-issued.

However. Things are not so super happy today. I learned to drive 3 weeks ago, and havent' driven in two weeks. So I'm a little sensitive (very sensitive) about how ####### a driver I am. Except, we had to get both the rental car AND the car we just bought, home from the top-of-a-very-steep-hill where it was perched. And I have not been driving the rental because it's waaay too big for me (a Chrysler 300M). Sooo, good news, I managed to get the new (used) car down the hill, and almost home (I missed the last turn). Bad news, C told me how many times I veered in to the next lane, or nearly hit parked cars on the way home. I was very upset. He was parking the rental at the time, and scraped the wing mirror off the concrete pillar next to the parking space. It had to be returned this morning, so no time for a quick trip to the garage, to see what could be done. Now we are at the mercy of Budget to charge us what they like for the damage. AND I really still can't drive. I just couldn't bring myself to go on the freeway by myself today. So C has had to return the (damaged) car to the airport, and find his way back to Los Feliz.

It's amazing how quickly one's mood can change. The money's draining fast. I was up half the night worrying. Need to get a job fast, need to earn some money to keep up will all of this. It didn't help that we were sleeping on the floor cos the mattress STILL hasn't arrived.

Oh lord. This too shall pass. This too shall pass. This too shall pass. This too shall pass. This too shall pass.

Getting set up is so hard...you have to buy so much ####### to get yourself started out. After a few months it should even out. When I moved a few months ago I had basically a bed and dining room set. I gradually acquired furniture via craigslist...someday I'll get new stuff but what I have will do me for right now.

Ugh sleeping on the floor...I hope your back is holding up ok!

Prepare for a dirty joke/remark from Charles.

We can have the dirty spa, with facials (self explanatory), ear candling (shinshi shinshi) and mud baths (not even going there).

I'll bear Florida in mind but I have a feeling it will be a bit too hot and humid for my liking. biggrin.gif

Yes, it does get too hot and humid for some. I thrive in it. smile.gif One thing you should note, though, is that the Florida heat doesn't get as bad as it does in some of the interior States. I find that whenever I go to NC (my husband's family lives there) that it's way too hot for me. My husband does too. I think it's because we're between the ocean and the gulf.... lots more breezes.

On a side note.... I met a lady down the street when I stopped to admire her garden. Turns out she has the same name as us.... and she's also from England! Funny.

I guess it's good afternoon now Krikit! Please forgive my awful rudeness yer majesty! wink.gif

With as pricy as this place is I think after a massage I'd have just enough left for my little toenail to get pedicured. After checking out the prices it better be a darn good back rub or facial.
