Aww hun - it'll be ok - it's what credit cards are for devil.gif I've been trusting Jeremy with the finances and then find out that bills aren't getting paid so I kinda understand - things will work out eventually, just give it time and use what you have available right now. And don't feel bad about spending if it makes you feel better - I am a massive retail therapy addict and it mainly consists of food shopping so end up buying cr@p to eat so I can comfort eat! Put it this way - if you are spending money to cheer yourself up then it can't be all bad - it might be the make or break of you staying smile.gif

Actually, I wouldn't wash your hands between kitties. This way they will get used to eat others' scents quicker. You'll have to kind of force Daisy to let you - just stroke her back even if she is pulling away. I swear they'll adjust better this way!

Pics are adorable, btw!

I hadn't thought of it like that - she seemed a little less inclined to miaow and pull away this morning although I did feel bad when the little one was in bed giving me a cuddle and Daisy jumped up to give me a cuddle in bed as she sometimes does but didn't want to come near the baby. She didn't go for him though or even miaow or growl which was something. She did have a little moan at him this morning when he was tearing around again though. And I caught the little ####### eating her food again when she went outside so I had to move it! He is so naughty!

I used to have a cat named Cricket. Several yeas ago I shared a duplex with a couple guy friends and one of them brought home a kitten from his family farm one day...a kitten he named Pedro lol. Cricket was already fixed and was actually a very social cat who liked to snuggle and have the company of other kitties, so I wasn't too concerned about her having a companion.

She would crack me up I tell you...she would chase Pedro down, pin him to the ground, and just when I would think she was going to kill him she would start grooming him LOL. I think she had some motherly instincts and just wanted to take care of him...however wee Pedro HATED getting bathed by Cricket. *sigh* I miss my Cricket...she now lives in Springfield, MO and has a companion kitty named Jiminy lol.

Last week I got my hair cut and she asked about my trip to the UK. Told it was great, blah, blah, blah. And she's like, "Don't you find that all people in England are rude?" I said "no". She said, Well, I have 2 British clients and that they are both so rude." I nearly introduced her to a kettle.

LOL...she must not realize that maybe she rubs her Brit clients the wrong way.

I'm off to find a beauty salon. I like living here but I hate having to find all new stuff. I found good yoghurts in Trader Joes, that was awesome, cos yoplait is very different here. I don't even want to think about finding doctors dentists and hairdressers. I hate going to the beauty salon anyway, but we have a pool here, and I've only used it once because of my lack of, ahem grooming. So off i go. This task is much easier when you're not driving. Walking past is always the best way to find nice neighbourhood things, driving past, you just can't get a good look sad.gif

Finding a new salon is tough! I'm contemplating divorcing my stylist since I can't stand some of the things she says while cutting my hair. She's so judgemental and very right wing and its really starting to get to me. My best friend has already left her for the same reasons. BUT she really knows how to cut my hair! I'm really torn here. unsure.gif

Celtic Fest was cx...it rained straight from Friday afternoon to Sunday night. Ginger - congrats on the half marathon! And it looks like you were doing 9 minute miles, which is a great pace. I've been wanting to get back into distance running (used to run cc and mile and 2 mile in track) but just find myself unable to set a goal for myself, like a race to train for - you ever thought about doing a full marathon?

I'm not going to think of a marathon for a long while at this point LOL. After I finished yesterday, I thought to myself...jeez, I would have only been halfway done if I was running a marathon! Yikes! I will probably do one in the future, but the amount of time training is what truly puts me off...if you are running 60-80 miles a week, you are spending a lot of time on the road. Anyways, hopefully I'll be faster in a few years too.

I was a trackster...my school didn't have X country. My dad was my track coach so he usually put me in whatever had the fewest people so I could get points for the team LOL. I always did discus and the 800, and occasionally he would stick me in the 4X4 and the 4X8 and shot put. I ran the occasional mile if need be and I ran the two mile once...and hated every minute of it.

My sophomore year I was running 6 minute miles, but I ended up getting mono over the summer and I could never quite run as fast again. What amazes me is Paula Radcliffe...her world record is 2:15...so she's running 5:19 miles. She would be done and I would only be halfway done lol.

I do not remember that! At the time DARE was the latest new-fangled thing "from California."

Before that we had to rely on Nancy Reagan telling us to "just say no" and the obligatory smashed car in front of the school the week of prom to remind us not to drink and drive.

Bill Gleason - ROFL!

I like this description of the Superfans from wikipedia:

Typical debates concerned Mike Ditka versus a hurricane (in this particular debate, the Superfans believed that Ditka could defeat the hurricane, until it was revealed that the name of the hurricane was Hurricane Ditka); who would win in a competition for World Domination – "Da Bearss" or "Da Bullss"; Mike Ditka winning the Indianapolis 500 driving the Bears' team bus; or how many points Michael Jordan could score if he played an entire game by himself while sitting in a recliner.

LOL...the description is brilliant!

Hurricane Ditka would wipe out the contiguous 48 states plus parts of southern Ontario.

God bless public access...we had some good ones back in Lincoln. The local Communist Party leader (can you believe there even was one in Nebraska) Ron Kurtenbach had a show where he basically took calls from wasted and/or high college kids debating politics. He had his phone number printed on a dot matrix banner taped up on the bookshelf behind him. Unfortunatly, there are no you tube clips of his show on there yet. Anyways, sometimes if no one called he would fall asleep and there would be a half hour of the guy napping on TV.

And of course there was the guy who dressed up as a clown and masterbated on public access. Glad I missed that one...

Each of the 3 times I left the hospital with a new infant, I wondered, where exactly he/she came from? I didn't notice a thing!

Now maven, go finish your effing paper! tongue.gif

I'm actually concerned I've been mislaying infants all over the place because I didn't know I even had them

Reminds me of the Monty Python sketch in Meaning of Life when the catholic mum, a.k.a Terry Jones, pops another one out whilst doing the dishes "deirdre, can you get that for me?' laughing.gif

Reminds me of the Family Guy episode where they visited the Irish Heritage Museum. "A Day In The Life Of An Irish Woman."

Sorry I couldn't find a better clip on You Tube

Pointy, methinks you need to start praying more!

It's funny - people insult each other with impunity in off topic, you can have threads about hookers and swinging, but you can't say a$$ because it's a family website. Go figure.

My life is not my own either - huge presentation due tomorrow!

And all sorts of misogynist bullcr@p and why any true red-blooded American male should choose a bride from overseas and whatnot.

VJ, meh.

oh you should see the russian forum. whistling.gif

good morning all.

I wonder if this applies to red-blooded American women?

I've seen it all before in the various corners of VJ. I become overcome with jealousy that if only I'd been born in the third world, I could have twice the man my husband is (in weight and volume and age that is)

LMAO @ twice the age and weight. I wish I could have been an attractive, subservient wife with an anchor baby too!

Mmmm - I want to get to baking but I made a pasta bake last night and in the 20 minutes or so that it took, I was so hot in our kitchen that I needed to take a shower... It is HORRIBLE! I want to be all Delia-like and domesticated but I just can't get my head around it in this heat - and it didn't even hit 100 yesterday! ohmy.gif

Pointy - sounds like things are coming together at last! Is your sofa as sexy as our pastel Burberry one? laughing.gif

You shouldn't let Jeremy leave his g-string out on the floor like that! He needs to learn to pick up after himself

laughing.gif tongue.gif

I can make a decent banana bread but I've never attempted anything that would need yeast.

Maybe it was an American thing, but does anyone remember in the early 90's how breadmachines were in? Everyone's mom had one and every bride got one for her wedding.

laughing.gif Well, your siggy says that you are a good hostess! I wish Chicago was closer to us! Its my favorite city and where my husband and I met. luv.gif

You should look into flights...there are some decent deals right now. I think Southwest flies out of Buffalo??? It's on a Saturday so you could come in on Friday evening and leave Sunday evening.

Awwww I love tikka masala!!! Mmmmm but tea with it!? Surely beer is the only true curry drink?! laughing.gif

In other news, my step brother had his first baby today!! I'm gutted I can't see him yet sad.gif

Congrats on the new baby! I love babies...particulary other people's babies that I can give back to them when they start crying!

I tell you, Wetherspoon's actually makes a pretty good Chicken Tikka Masala. Granted, it's microwaved but still not bad. And the Berncastle wine (£7.99) goes well with it.

We were all out of beer :-(

Hey ginger...in the OT forum there is renewed interest in your Chicago VJ meetup. Seems like a lot more people are prepared to attend. Don't know if you're still interested, but if so, you may want to pop into that thread! star_smile.gif

Oi vey...I guess I'll have to get started. There didn't seem to be too much interest so I basically sort of forgot about it.

Sheesh...I'm a bad bad bad hostess!

good morning everyone. it's freaking cold here!

Same in Chi-town. Had a truly British type day...cold and pissing down. I made Nicky chicken tikka masala for dinner and he had tea with it...truly a Brit night for us!

I'm partying with Diet Cokes and Gatorade this weekend LOL. Maybe I'll find room for A BEER as well, it is carbs y'know :-p

I'll try to catch Great Big Sea...or as much of it as possible but I gotta be up by 5 am Sunday. I'll check out their website...to be honest I'm not terribly familiar with them.

That is one impressive play list! I loooovvvvee Bizarre Love Triangle. I will listen to it several times in a row when running on the dreadmill.

They have a good line up this year! I hope to catch the "men in kilts" leg contest. I'm dissapointed Nicky doesn't want to enter!

I think we're going to try to catch the Highlands Games type demonstration where burly men through logs and the Sheepherding demonstration. Best part of all is the fest is free biggrin.gif

Maven...I suppose that mixed tape didn't have any Poison, Bon Jovi, or Janet Jackson on that mixed tape? I remember the days of sitting with my boombox listening to the radio and trying to hit "record" at the right moment to tape a song.

I'm going to have Unskinny Bop stuck in my head all day now ohmy.gif

Fender benders lead to huge blow outs. My freshman year of college I rear ended a car ahead of me...and since I was still on my parents insurance they were NOT HAPPY. Somehow it became some huge blow out where my parents said if I wasn't sleeping w/ my boyfriend at the time this wouldn't have happened?!?!?! Anyways, it ended up where we didn't speak to each other for nearly a year.

It has been a veritable cemetary this weekend in here. Next weekend I'm going to be MIA...Brit meetup Friday, Celtic Fest Saturday, and half marathon Sunday.
