It's funny how even when you look at tequila you can remember the taste vividly.


Oh my lord..tell me about it. The first time i drank tequila was with my sister when i was 15. I dont remember what kind but the bottles had little sombreros on em. we did the whole lemon lime salt thing..first singles..then doubles..then i dont remember the next 15 hours LOL. I do remember wakign up on and off or comming too and a) being spinned around in a rocking chair. the next time i had my head in a bathtub, and then the third time i came too i was on a waterbed with someone holding a cold cloth to my head asking if i was ok. then i was out of it for the next 10 hours.

think i finally "woke up" like a day and a half later..and boy oh boy was i freaking starving..and craving michigan hotdogs..you know the ones with spaghetti sauce on em? and lots of pepsi. lol surprisingly i didn't have a headache..

I can still remember the smell / taste of the tequila 20 years later..and i've never touched it since! I still blame my sister for that to this day XD!

OH just wow.. (((((((HUGS))))))) I'm so so sorry this happend to you. What a complete douche. I hope you and the baby are ok and the stress didn't harm you both. What a complete a$$. Definately get a letter written up as the others have said and cc everyone you can. They really need to do something about the jerks they hire. I know they want ppl who are harder etc, to better scrutinize, but this is outright uncalled for. Someone needs a slap upside the head....I woulda punched the guy if it were me..

Ah man..what a night...i haven't had this feeling since i lived in montreal back in 93 when montreal won the cup, what a year that was..it was also stanleys 100 bday....I am so damn proud of the hawks. hehe now if only i could get into the baseball thing..i have ppl trying to convince me to start watching it so i can root for the cubs.

Luckily my in laws get that versus channel..it's owned by comcast and used to be known as the Outdoor life network in canada.

the first two games i was screaming bloody murder..i wanted to shoot the refs:ranting:..i swear someone bought them off.....growl...but hey at least we won the first 2. LOL my husband does not watch hockey, and i think i scared him and his sister the other night !!!

i jump up and down scream, yell clap my hands..the dogs didn't know what to make of it. OH and of course there was the swearing in french i was doing. :blush: its the only way i can swear in the house..cuz they dont understand it :rofl:

Hi all,

My fiance will be here in about two weeks :D and I had a question regarding getting his SSN. I've read about waiting the two weeks after crossing the boarder so his name will be in the SAVE system, but what if we get married before the two weeks and have our marriage certificate already, can we just go in with that? I know two weeks isn't a long time to wait, but due to my work schedule, it would be a lot easier if we can do it sooner.

Thats what i did. poe was april 6th, wedding on the 11th and then i went in for ssn. brought my passport, the filled out forms, b.c. and marriage cert. and the printout from vj showing k1 can get an ssn.

No... well I went to the police station in Trois-Rivières and asked them if this is were I get one done. They told me it was for the whole country, and on the letter it does say in Canada...
I'll ask if it can be done in English, but this is Québec, and with our laws, I doubt they can do it!


Just like the quebec birth certificate i have you should be able to get an english copy. as long as it says national repository search your fine. i wouldn't worry about it being from december.

well i had no issues..but it was in chicago. i filled out the form checked off alien allowed to work, brought marriage certificate and boom bada bing it was done in 5 mins..not counting the 2 hour wait in line lol. i brought my passport with me as well. forgot my bc and thought that might cause an issue, but she never asked me for it.

getting my bank account drivers licence etc was alot easier with an SSN, without it i would not be allowed to drive or be insured by geico and i could not be put on davids life insurance etc with no SSN so for me and aos it was vital i get one right away

i was denied entry twice BEFORE my k1 petition was filed, and yet DURING the process...was allowed to visit my fiance in chicago MULTIPLE times. it truly is up to the POE that you go through. in my case i was put through secondary every time, and got to recognize the cpb officers and they recognized me as a person doing the legal k1 visa. And on the day i finally had my yellow packet, i was congratulated with "it's about time" from one of them. lol.

CanadaAny Green Card holders Ever get Authenticated?

I cross in Cornwall, Ont. I telecommute to the office in Montreal on a weekly basis but I am only there for 2 days. I work the other 3 days at home. I cant imagine if I had to do this daily. :wacko: I find it all very odd ..... is the green card that insecure?


if i recall, there was a big issue at the border in cornwall that also caused our CDN border guards to start carrying weapons. So i would imagine there is heightened security, that is probably why this happend. I can't find the article atm but i think it had to do with the indian reserve that is there as well.

bascially that bridge was closed opened and closed again and we had to make a temp border crossing. from may til september of last year this happend. My sister a couple months ago crossed to visit the usa and had issues crosssing as well.

unless of course your using the other crossing...iirc there are two in cornwall.

I noticed that in K1 filing it is easier to get an interview than CR1 filing..am I just one noticing it or...who else might?



Well if you base it off when NVC received the petition from USCIS, it took me almost 4 months between then and my interview. NVC got the file in november and my interview was march 30th. for others it was less time. but avg is anywhere from 2-4 months it seems, and it's in spurts every few months. Like November was one batch of filers getting interview dates, and the next was around January/feb. seems the dates come in spurts of every 3 months about.

I just got off the phone with DOS and they said that they have approved the visa to be issued! Posted Image I still kind of can't believe it and will probably feel a little uneasy until it actually arrives. Today was exactly 7 weeks after they received our additional info and this past Tuesday, my congresswoman contacted them, which probably helped.

I'm sure they're coming soon for those of you still waiting!

Hey everyone!
I have a couple questions about what happens once you POE and get married!
1st: Once I get married, I can apply for a Social Security Number, and change my driver's license right?
Correct, for most that is the easiest way. Depending on where you live you may be able to get everything in your married name including SSN, i was able to.
2nd: Then, I fill in the forms for the Employment Authorisation and AOS as soon as possible?
As soon as you have your marriage certificates yes. depending on county some can be ready asap others may take a few weeks.
3rd: Is it true that you cannot leave the US for holidays or what not for 2 years after you get married?
Wrong, you can leave BUT ONLY WITH YOUR AP (Advanced Parole). Which is a separate form to fill out aside from the aos and ead. Once you get your green card you can come and go as you wish.

ok so david is convinced i made him gain weight :P lol

hes not used to home cooking or having proper meals 3 times a day and says i made him go up 2 sizes..rofl.

he is starting to do pushups etc. and i have this soup diet that you do for 2 weeks. it was given to me by a friend, whos grandfather got it from his doctor. bascially its a vegetable soup that is for people about to go in for heart surgery and need to drop up to 20lbs.

it takes 2 weeks, and bascially you eat the soup every day whenever your hungry. you are allowed other thigns as well, like on day 3 you can have so many ounces of beef, tomatoes, or chicken. one day you can eat bananas etc. the extra items you can eat all depend on what your body will need that day, like potassium, etc.

truth be told it does work. although i never lost that much weight, since i have a hard time with cravings and snacking. and after a week you get soo sick of just soup :P not to mention all the fibre you get out of it LOL.

my recipe is in a box somewhere i'll try and find it and maybe post it here if anyone wants to attempt it. :)

Hey all, i know i've been mia for a bit since getting married :) trying to settle into the new swing of things and get all my us i.d. so i feel somewhat legal again lol.

Glad to see some of you have been logged in woot! As for the rest of you it will be here soon :) From the recent batch of us k1's it looks like it took anywhere from 1-2 months around to get our interview dates. So don't worry you'll get them soon!

As for the tax info for the i-134, just a bit of advice. If you print off any copies from turbo tax or h&r etc. you MUST make sure the w2's are with it. we made photocopies of them and brought the originals with us for David's 2010 taxes. They wont accept just the pdf printout alone. Also IRS was pretty quick to send us out his last 2 years of transcipts. took less than 2 weeks if i recall.

My uncle crosses there a couple times a week, as he does radio in canada and the us. he actually lives right in Niagara on the Canada side. From what i heard in the last couple weeks that border is always busy. You can always call them direct and find out if there is a "good" time to cross.

we crossed by car with the dogs at detroit / ambassador bridge. CBP did'nt care about anything , just looked at the rabies certificate and that was it. BTW Canadian certificates from vets are alot more detailed than the ones i now get in chicago. they have more info like the name of the actual rabies vacine and how much was administered. with the actual name signature and id of the doctor. the ones i get now are a small 2x2 paper with literally no info other that that they got a rabies shot and a city tag at the same time..kinda craptastic if you ask me.

neither my marraige cert or licence had my new married name on it. I just brought the certificate and my id to ssn and got my ssn card in my married name then everything else after. Not all states put the new married name on it or make you sign it.
