Walk in biometrics successful in Grand Rapids, MI. It took 30 minutes because one of the technicians took a break just when we finished filling out the paperwork. We took a chance driving 1.5 hours but I told my husband we would go school clothes shopping if we were denied a walk in appointment. Now to celebrate with a Chinese food lunch.

good grief your AOS is going fast. Grats.

CanadaAOS'rs...

Thanks Kayla. I hope they work on your case quickly!

Other people have had worse things happen with their cases than what's happened to me. I've just had several small-mediumish things, and one big thing (the hubby losing his job). I'm just getting sick of it. And I'm in a super grumpy mood today, so should probably not even post on VJ at all. lol

It's not a matter of worse things happening, i can deal with one very bad thing..however dealing with multiple things like you have gone through, is the worst in my opinion. It's like you never get a break, you can't breathe for fear of the "whats next" question. Kinda like when i went though my K1. I swear i did more work, phone calls and fixing than anyone and i was always waiting for the other shoe to drop or the proverbial 3rd bad thing..as all things happen in three's..right?

Well, we got it today. And I'm absolutely LIVID. It's all for things I submitted!! They just lost the stuff!

Basically it's for the ENTIRE I-864 and I-864A package(which was clipped together with a black acco fastener). They want it all. I KNOW I included it in that package, because the day I sent it out I had to go to moms office and have her sign her portion, then I put it in the envelope and sealed it.

Whatever. Tomorrow I'm overnighting the I-864/864A, tax returns for 2009 for the both of us including w-2s, PLUS the tax transcripts. Try and RFE me again over the same thing and we're gonna roll, USCIS. :ranting:

...we should start a running tally in a post of uscis screwups. how they keep losing stuff is beyong me. this is just pure utter incompetence..maybe they should start hiring people with some freaking brains in their head FFS!

It might not be quick. I was there for a good half hour. The finger printing is much more intensive at this one than the ones we did before.

is it worse than the fingerprinting they did to me at the poe when i was refused entry? LOL. good grief..i feel like i have an immigration rapsheet..like seriously, all the photos and fingerprints before this process, during and it's still going and going..
KimbearFemaleCanada2010-08-09 14:20:00
CanadaAOS'rs...

You can try going earlier, but they may turn you down depending on how busy they are. Some offices take walk-ins earlier and some do not, just depends.

ok, was just wondering if it's like the consulate interview where you are first come first served.

How the cheque has been made out is also an issue lately. They are really specific with that. Did you double check that? i had to redo mine as i forgot the xx/100 on my cheque..in canada i never wrote them like that.

At least you have got a letter explaining what is going on....I submitted the same time and still have not heard a thing!! When I started the whole K1 process everything I read lead me to believe getting the I-129f approved was the longest wait. That happened in 3 months, then I had a 6 month wait for an interview, now I have been waiting over 2 months for a bio appt and have not heard a single thing! I am getting Si to contact the senator/congressman because even if I were to get my bio appt letter tomorrow, there is no way I will be getting my AP or EAD within the current processing time.

The only reason i got any reply, is due to 4 service requests i put in. i have called them that many times in the last month alone. As it is my k1 1-129f was started in march of 2009, and i saw all the other filers get their interviews in november while i had to wait over a year for mine :( 377 days from day one to interview, and now this..with so many mistakes by my lawyer who i fired, the uscis, the nvc, etc. with 3 congressman involved...you'd think they would realize i'm not someone they should tick off...i just want it all over with..no wonder i decided to get my citizenship..just so i can say STFU to uscis and vote on immigrations laws and try and get something in that system fixed.

thats my only fear about medical in the usa. here i'm so used to just going to a clinic walkin and seeing someone, not worrying about the cost or having to pay for a referral etc., then going to have my prescription filled and paying only 10% cuz the rest is covered by my plan. Oy.

I hope you feel better soon Marilyn, and i do hope its nothing serious.

To be honest..i dont know how they survived over 3 years without seeing each other. :( I remember at one point sara was talkinga bout how she got a mail from Hilary Clinton..i thought for sure at that point they would get the visa.but after her interview in November they were put into AP, and i guess the waiting was almsot killing her. IIRC she had some medical conditions which would not allow her to fly either. So very very sad. People who try and do things the correct way and get punished, like this..it just is so awful.

NINE WORDS WOMEN USE

1/ Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2/ Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3/ Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

4/ Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

5/ Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)

6/ That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7/ Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome'. That will bring on a 'whatever').

8/ Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying F--- YOU!

9/ Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response, refer to # 3.

LOl ok this is soo me..well aside from teh 5 mins thing :P

too bad david and i cant' take advantage of the tax credit for a house...i'll be moving down ther beginning of april but by the time we found out our interview date there really wasn't enought time to house shop etc. If my process hadn't had any issues i would have been down here earlier but not much can be done. so we are goign to stay with his parents for the frst year (hope that works out ok) and try and pay off our credit cards, and save up for a downpayment, and appliances etc.

it's just really hard to say bye to that 8k though lol. ah well..sh1te happens eh?

I have finally admitted that my experience in Montreal just cannot be typical. How often would a Montreal Police Officer give tourists exact wrong directions? How often is there a riot? How often do people simply refuse to acknowledge that they are able to even speak english to afford any form of communication with a tourist? Oh wait, that last one happens all the time.

Very typical..i grew up there. and ti's not just tourists that get treated like that. also buss drivers are horribad. the driver missed my stop even though i hit the buzzer and when i complained and asked to be let of asap she blabbered on in french to me and made me feel like it was my fault. Part of the reason why i left the province at 25. well that and the stupid politics ugh.

"Tell her you love her with a diamond."

"Diamonds are forever."

Oh screw off, they're pretty rocks!

It's TOTALLY fine if people love them for what they are...but most people love them for what they represent: lots of money. And while I have no problem with rich people, I DO loathe the mentality that having lots of money means anything more than...well...having lots of money!

thats pretty much my mentality when it comes to jewelery. I didn't wanta diamond and when i look at them i just shrug. ya i knwo about cuts clarity etc etc but honestly? As shania twains says " it don't impress me much"

my engagement ring which i helped pick out is quite simple really. and was pretty darn cheap. we got it from zales who i thought would be expensive.

Awwww all these adorable stories made me tearie eyed!!!

David proposed to me long before we got the ring. in fact it was the first week i had went down to chicago to be with him. there was this one night, his roomate finally left us alone at the apartment. cold and dark. we had been talkingg for hours about ourselves and things that happend to each of us. and i just opened up to him and bawled my eyes out and told him about my past etc. and he hugged me started crying and said he would take care of me forever and that he didn't want me to go back to Canada, and he asked if i would marry him. i'll remember that night forever. the lights were off and the moonlight was shining in the room on us as we sat on his bed holding each other and crying.

the next day we went to the county hall and got a marriage certificate. unfortuneately we had planned for a january 10 2009 wedding, but i went back to canada to get my dogs and that's when the "your not allowed into the usa" bs started. we have been separated ever since :( january 2010 now and still not married..which is why i guess i'm emo this month :(

blargh didn't mean to put a damper on this thread..so don't mind me.

Woo, I managed to get my engagement ring off!
I wanted to see if my wedding ring would go on, and with a bit of soap it would. Not exactly matching with my engagement ring, but one of the rings is also 3 years old.... then I couldn't get it off. Ehehe. I just struggled for like 5 minutes trying to get my wedding ring off and so I thought that I may as well try the engagement ring, it came off too.
Maybe with them off I'll help my finger de-swell a bit. I think the engagement ring came off easier because the band is rounded and more comfort fitting, the wedding ring is flat on the inside.

The thing is, my wedding ring looks kinda funny on top the engagement ring. How are the two generally worn? The wedding ring first than the engagement ring, or vice versa? Or is it a personal taste thing.

amg i was wondering this same thing lol i feel like such a noob :P

My wife says it's supposed to be a certain way, but that she wears it the other way around from what the proper way is supposed to be. Of course, I can't remember which order she wears them in, so I guess I'm not really all that helpful now, am I?

@ huggles! Good luck! it's scary but at the same time so much fun to look around and stuff and imagine what it would be like when you own it!

Actually I can honestly say I have never had any alcohol that I like the taste of. I never drink alcohol as a 'refreshment' - it's purely for - well drinking alcohol.

Now, that doesn't include all those drinks that mask the taste of the alcohol.

oh how true. today i hate the smell / taste of most alchohol including beer..BLECH! but give me anything i can't taste like a mudslide etc..and Mmm Mmmm Mmmm YUMMY!..you know when you drink one then two then 3 and say wow i can't taste the booze of feel it..and then you make the mistake of standing up? lol ya those one i love :)

I've never had tequila. I've never really had much alcohol other than stuff like baileys and kaluha and vodka mixed in stuff. It would have been too expensive of a habit in Canada.

And from the last thread, Darkchilde, there's spiders in chocolate. Like in alot of products that come from plants, they're allowed to have so many parts of insects per so much of the product. So you're probably eating spider legs :P

EWWWW EWWWWW EWWWWW!!!!

i hate hate spiders..i'm so freaking afraid of em i see one i jump 3 feet off the ground right into david's arms practically screaming! lol

i know eventually i'll have to get over it a bit if i dont want my kids scared of everything too :(

It's funny how even when you look at tequila you can remember the taste vividly.

Oh my lord..tell me about it. The first time i drank tequila was with my sister when i was 15. I dont remember what kind but the bottles had little sombreros on em. we did the whole lemon lime salt thing..first singles..then doubles..then i dont remember the next 15 hours LOL. I do remember wakign up on and off or comming too and a) being spinned around in a rocking chair. the next time i had my head in a bathtub, and then the third time i came too i was on a waterbed with someone holding a cold cloth to my head asking if i was ok. then i was out of it for the next 10 hours.

think i finally "woke up" like a day and a half later..and boy oh boy was i freaking starving..and craving michigan hotdogs..you know the ones with spaghetti sauce on em? and lots of pepsi. lol surprisingly i didn't have a headache..

I can still remember the smell / taste of the tequila 20 years later..and i've never touched it since! I still blame my sister for that to this day XD!
