Thanks! I'kkll add myself once I see the check is cashed or if I get a NOA, I don't want to jinx myself by adding me to the list before the application is soundly accepted ;) I'm stalking my bank account daily after I saw the pacakge was accepted yesterday morning at 729am :)

yeah that :) It really goes fast. I wanted to add that my citizenship document came a week later, in a sturdy envelope with delivery confirmation and my daughter's birth certificate a day later in a regular snail mail mailer (I mean that's ok, I can get her birth certs at any Colorado office, so if it was lost, no biggy).

I am positively surprised how fast this all went. For a second I freaked because my certificate wasn't returned to me but then I remembered that it is sent back separately. I hope we get DD's birth certificate back too. Those pesky things add up after a while. ;)

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBiometrics appointment and general questions
Hi guys,

I already figured out that we need to send it to CSC as we will live in Santa Barbara county when we have to file for the removal. I'm assembling the package now as 2 weeks before we can send it off our baby is due - and we want it out of our way now and just send it off cause we will be crazy busy with a newborn in September smile.gif (meaning it will be ready to go at the end of September)

Biometrics: I noticed that I will have to go to LA for the biometrics according to the USCIS website. Is that correct? If yes, can I bring my baby? Is that ok? It's a long ride anyways... Sheesh.

Evidence: we have bank, credit card and utility bills, military ID cards (which are health insurance cards as well), will have the birth certificate, tax returns, joint lease, car insurance, life insurance, pictures, joint car title, mail sent to us, catholic marriage certificate from October 2007... I guess that should be sufficient. Did I miss anything? My preggo brain is driving me nuts!

Do I need to send a real birth certificate or is a copy sufficient?

Can I put all this into one folder and organize it like a book or will they take it apart anyways? I'd love to make it look nice.

Ok that's it for now.... thanks for your help!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionPart 5 of I-751: list all your children
Hi guys,

It seems I am supposed to list all my children and their immigration status. My son was born just a month ago in CA and hence is a citizen anyways. Do I need to list him and if yes, what do I put as his immi status - "citizen"????

Thanks smile.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionPutting the Packet Together...
So it is all put together and will be sent off tomorrow down the road to Laguna Niguel.... Here's what we have:

Joint financial records
a. A partial copy of our joint tax return 2006
b. A partial copy of our joint tax return 2007
c. Joint utility bills
d. Joint credit card bills and bank account statements (Bank of America checking, USAA checking, Citibank savings account, American Express card, Discover card)
e. Roth IRA papers showing each other as beneficiaries
Joint insurance records
a. Dh's military life insurance showing me as beneficiary
b. Tricare health insurance bills and copy of military ID which shows DH as my sponsor
c. Joint Aetna dental insurance papers
d. Joint USAA auto insurance (recent)
e. Joint Allstate auto insurance (old)
f. Joint Farmers auto insurance (even older)
Joint lease
a. Current joint lease
b. Statement that we lived with Dh's mom prior to that - no lease, we didn't pay rent, they are welcome to question her (address & phone number attached)
Certificates
a. Copy of my passport showing new last name and address in California
b. Our son Jona’s birth certificate
c. Titles of our car and trailer
d. Catholic marriage certificate (Catholic ceremony was after the official wedding, a religious ceremony needs more time to plan!)
e. Official name change record with the German authorities
f. Copy of my power of attorney (I have a power of attorney to act on behalf of my DH)
Personal letters and mail sent to both of us (wedding, baby shower, Christmas, birthdays, OTS graduation)
Pictures of us from the past months

Ok I hope that's enough... There are no K1 papers for me, I was here working when we got married... If they need more info prior to the green card, they can send a RFE. But I think our insurances, our BABY, and the military papers are pretty strong evidence!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionPutting the Packet Together...
Thanks... Well they are long as we filed together with Turbotax and it includes federal tax returns, CA tax returns and NC tax returns as we moved in 2007. There are tons of extra pages for the student loan interest, savings accounts and Roth IRAs... I'll look through it and only print the pages that are those official forms... Turbotax really creates a humongous output!!!!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionPutting the Packet Together...
Quick question: it appears some of you attach evidence of your marriage prior to getting the green card. Is that necessary? I thought I only need to send proof ever since I received the green card until now. They already have all that proof from the AOS for the marriage b4 the GC... So is it really necessary? (my letter kinda weighs already pounds!!!)

Another question: the tax returns, what do you print out from them: all pages? The Turbo Tax document is 70 pages long, do I need to send all of it?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionPOE ENTRY WITH EXPIRED GREEN CARD
When I first got my GC it arrived while I was in Germany, I had the I551 stamp in my passport. Back in Charlotte, NC I was put into a room with all "suspects" (aka people who they suspected to try to sneak into the country), my cell phone, purse, luggage was taken from me and I wasn't allowed to call my DH who was waiting outside (with the GC in his hands) to pick me up. After a little over an hour another officer got me out of there, said they checked my immigration status, apologized and gave me my stuff back. Some people in that room had been there for more than a day (!).

When I traveled wiht my valid GC this year (POE Washington DC) I had no problems at all... I think it really depends on the officer... If they want to give you cr**, they will.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTravelling with extension letter
Hi guys,

I guess it has been discussed, but I'd love to know your experience. I will fly in April to Europe for my nephew's baptism (I'm the godmother, hehehe they need me to be there) and I will take my son along. He'll be 8 months then. He's an American and German citizen and I already learned I gotta bring a letter of custody apparently (no biggie JAG on base can set it up for us and notarize it).
My concern is: my GC expires 12/20 and I will have to travel with the extension letter. Will I face the 2nd inspection as I did wiht my I-551 stamp? It will be horrific being confined with a baby - would they take him away from me? I'm pretty horrified about that situation. Any thoughts?

Thanks smile.gif

CA doesn't take your EU license away - they saw it when I applied and could have asked for it but didn't. The DMV lady just commented on how nice it is that it never expires...

Allrighty, I'll post when I come back from my appointment or when I get the new license via mail....

Hm I got that same letter and haven't heard since. My license expires Saturday! For now I'll just use my EU license. We have a DMV appointment on December 30th though, let's see what happens. It's a rather small DMV...
Question: they list also military ID as acceptable ID - mine expires in 2012, would that fly????

We had very little "hard" evidence of us meeting face to face... just a couple pictures really, and a letter saying the dates and such that we had been to see each other... we had absolutely no problems...

Thank you, I appreciate the help.

CanadaDOT Log Books

I was in the same boat as you. My husband being Canadian and a crossborder truck driver. I wrote a long note saying that hubby (at time finacee) had a dedicated run and ran to where i live twice a week for company ABC crossing at the port of Pembina/Emerson and gave them his truck number. I then explained that between dropping a load and picking up the next load we went on "dates". Even though this was for immigrating to Canada they did except my long letter explaing a truckers life. Giving copies of his log books might not be a bad idea either and they do have ways of finding out if those crossing are correct.

Thank you for your response. I will ask him to keep his log book pages. and his fuel reciepts for Cheyenne. Hopefully he has those. Again thank you for your help.

Has anyone sucessfully used DOT log books as evidence of meeting. I know it seems like an odd question with my fiances country of citizenship being the UK, but he has been driving a truck in Canada, which led him to me. lol. Since he has a visa to cross the border in the truck I don't think that they stamped his passport and flying is way expensive, so we don't have any boarding passes.
We aren't sure if they will accept a simple border crossing and the log books. anyway. If you have any other tips please send them my way. I am already starting to worry about everything, and we haven't even started to file yet.
Here is another of my posts. To give you a bit of insight as to what our situation is. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=71120&st=0&p=953997&#entry953997

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp or no help?

What do you mean? Are you asking if we use lawyers or navigate the process ourselves? Most here do not use lawyers. Some with complicated cases do. I think you need to expand your question a bit so we know if we can help you.

First thing to do, pause, and start reading everything you can - the guides and FAQ here, and all applicable information at www.uscis.gov.

It isn't TOO complicated a process if you take a deep breath and do some homework.

Have you been doing their stuff on paperwork own or are you getting help? I am not sure if I can do this on my own.

Ok so I have never been apart of any kind of information station like VJ before. This is all new to me. As is the immigration requirements and statutes of the US.

My question is, being as naive as I am I don't know if I can do all it takes without having an attorney. It is quite possible we are going to have numerous problems getting through USCIS. I have read, reread and Printed and highlighted all the information, off the USCIS and State Dept website. Plus a dozen other websites under Google k i visa. and get so many conflicting stories. :help: I feel overwhelmed by the information, There is so much and I don't understand most of it.

We have talked about hiring someone, and have talked to a couple different attorneys but still get conflicting accounts on what needs to happen. I don't know how things can run so different from firm to firm. I am so afraid if I do it, it will be my fault we can't be together.

Sagt mal habt Ihr so nen Reise-hook-on-Stuhl?

@ Evi: Gute Besserung Adam!

Die meisten Kinder sind "under the weather" fuer 2-3 Tage.

Danda, in welchem Staat bist Du?

@ Wifey: Willkommen, hoffentlich klappt Dein Papierkram recht schnell :D

@ Steffi A: Holy Cow kannst Du das reporten?
