IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBest mail service to USA ?
Fedex must do letters as well as parcels. Check to see if there is a local Fedex store where you live. When I sent my letter to india it was weighted.. and there were a number of options for delivery 3 day 5-7 day etc..

DHL/UPS/FEDEX.. may cost you more but you'll be able to track your package on thier website.. I think they may also have some sort of grantuee that it'll reach there by a give day or your money back.

I sent a package to India from the US by Fedex.. it was a grantueed 3 day delivery.. cost me about $40 but it got there on the 3rd day.

Good luck.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCase information.

Hi all,

I am trying to find out that how long the category of IR1/CR1 is taking for india. My friend has filed for it and need to know the probable time line.

Thanks

Patdev,

Check out my timeline in the signature below.. it is very detailed. Highlevel, my time at CSC with USCIS was about 80 days or so, during which time the I-130 was approved. Then it went to the NVC in November. I think I'll still be at the NVC for another 4 weeks.. before final approval and the file being sent to Mumbai... so I'm looking at approx 6 months in total for USCIS and NVC. After it gets to Mumbai from what I gather the interview will be scheduled at Mumbai for approx 2 months after it gets to Mumbai.. so in my case about May. So in all I'm looking at about 8-9 months. And I think it's save to say that 8-9 months is going to be the average for most people. Ofcourse the time could take longer if you have issues with your case or shorter if you get very lucky.

By the way, do not have your friend do a DCF.. a Direct Consular Filing.. apparently a new law went into effect in the last couple of days and is causing major issues for people who did DCF.. check out the DCF forum from the home page for more information.

Good luck to your friend.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJames' shortcuts - well one piece

yes sounds good - think i will practice with some with bar codes using last years ref numbers then do it for real in 3 months or so - 3 month to NOA2 on an IR1 would be very nice ...yes I will definitely do it - I thought at first sight that the short cuts were meant for people with a US based spouse/helper but I can see it will help me a lot too as the time from generation to actual dispatch plus mailing to the UK may be say 20 days -ish ......

Looks like the longest bit is the wait to interview in London which is taking ages - I got an interview in about 10 days when I did KI as i got my medical etc early - (I was a worrier/optimizer back then) but they have stopped that now...

Although I want to enter on November 5th to get an unconditional green card, I want to cut the time to visa down so i can ship my stuff and sell my house etc and I don't want to do that until I get my mits on the visa

ok thanks for the info - the time from generation to actual receipt of the 230 is an interesting statistic

alan

Alan,

The stat on the generation to delivery doesn't really mean much in my opionion, since the documents could be generated.. but take a while for the folks at NVC to physically mail it out to you.. if they are backloged it could be several days before they put it in the mail, and they send it regular mail.. so that could also add significant delays also

What are these James' shortcuts and where can I find them?
Thank you very much

Henia,

James' shortcuts are for people applying for CR1/IR1 visas only. If you are applying for anything other than that.. it will not apply to you. You can find James' shortcuts pinned at the top of the NVC discussion forum.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJames' shortcuts - well one piece
I sent all the documents the two fees for AOS and Immigrant Visa fees and the actual forms by overnight delivery so I was able to track when they were delivered. The NVC telephone number also provides updated messages as well once your documents have been loaded into their system.. but normally takes 4-5 days after it is delivered to the NVC before it's been loaded into their system and acknowledged on the phone system. You should also be able to talk directly to an operator if needs be...

You've got a long way to go before you get to NVC.. probably about 3 months I reckon.. don't worry yourslef too much right now...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJames' shortcuts - well one piece

The ausssiewench post about shortcuts was super dooper and I can actually understand it...

My commiserations to her that her brain works like mine or vice versa

I am a bit apprehensive of using the full thing with bar codes etc as we have nobody in the states we can easily ask to do any of it......

I will certainly try and get the DS 3032 (name that agent form ) done by email which should save at least 10 days mail time each way and perhaps a few days preparation time at NVC too...

Question, if I wait for the I-230 and do it the slow way, what is the time cost >>>

A: from the time they say it is being sent on the answer line , to actual dispatch day - I guess at a week ?

B: mail time to UK - how long is their snail mail ? I guess at 10 days ?

I guess A+B + 10 days for royal mail to send back to new hampshire from UK is the total time and if I deduct time from relative sending in the form from somewhere in the US to new Hampshire (1 day fast mail) then that is the total saving for the James' short cut on the I-230....

are the guesses for A and B realistic ?

thanks alan

The only thing you would be waiting for with the DS230 packet is going to be the bar code cover sheet. What I did was make a photocopy of the AOS cover sheet before sending it.. dowloaded the bar code cover sheet from the shortcut you referenced and deleted the bar code and the case number and printed that off. Then I cut the bar code cover sheet from the AOS and overlayed it on to the DS230 coversheet and photocopied that.. to have a final DS230 barcode cover sheet.. with that I sent of the DS230 packet before it arrived.. by the way, I still have not received my offical DS230 packet from the NVC yet and I'm in the USA.

good luck

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 for CR-1-

Dear all,

Need your advice :help:

My fiance and I planed to apply for Fiance visa, but now we decided to get married in my home country and as soon as he will back to US after our wedding he will submit I-130 petition for CR-1 visa (Immediate relative). Any ideas how long we will need to wait till Texas Service Centre will issue the approval?

Thank you !

Even though you'll be sending the petition to the Texas service center, it will be transfered to the Calafornia Service Center, as all CR1 applications are being reviewd and approved there. Please note that you'll still have to send your application to the service center for your region.. it will automatically get sent on to Calafornia. Typically the USCIS says it can take upto 6 months to approve an I-130 application.. the average based on other VJ members timelines is about 3 months.. ofcourse it can be much longer or shorter depending on if you get lucky or not. After that you'll spend about 4 months at the NVC in New Hampshire.. My case is still there.. probably until end of Feb before it goes to the consulate. Check out my time line below for more information.

Good luck

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurescontacting USCIS from abroad

Building my file up and I still don't know how to contact USCIS from here in the UK if I need to:

The 1-800 number is only for the USA

thought I saw an overseas number somewhere last year...

We are filing direct with Nebraska as the London Embassy won't touch it for US Citizens who are resident in the UK for less than 2 years...

Does anyone know the number or is it necessary to go through London even though they are not handling the case ?

I reckon the USCIS don't accept emails - nor do they answer letters

thanks alan

Don't know if there is an "international #" to call.. but regardless, the USCIS reps suck big time.. the USCIS helpline is better known as the "Mis-information line" on VJ. Once you get the NOA1 with the USCIS case #, you should sign up at the USCIS website for automated case status updates. The information you find there is pretty much what the USCIS reps will tell you anyway.

It was sent out couple of weeks ago, so is packet 3 only for k visas?

The DS230 part 1 you sent to NVC was in effect the packet 3. If your case was went to NVC in early Jan, then you should be in line for an appointment in March (appointment letter will be sent to you - packet 4). Check out the link schedule on 16/17 feb for your appointment date (look for your nvc case #). If it's not on the schedule than e-mail the mumbai consulate

I checked with the NVC and received their letter that they have sent the file to Mumbai, the case is CR1 and i already send the DS 230 part 1 to NVC, so does it have to be done again with the packet 3? Can I still send the packet 3 or do they just send me packet 4? Thank you for your help in advance.

No I don't believe you need to send in another DS230 part 1 again. When Mumbai schedule the interview, they'll send you packet 4 - the appointment letter. I would e-mail the Mumbai consulate to ask when your interview will be scheduled.

When did the NVC tell you that they sent the file to Mumbai?

You can also check the Mumbai consulate website as they post the schedule of interviews for the next month of the 15th of every month.

Hello devblt,

Was your question for me or for sadob..???

If you were asking generally, than my file went to Mumbai on Oct. 06, 2005. At that time I was Green Card Holder, now that I became USC, I sent them my certi. and proof of approval file letter. I just want to know if anyone have done this things before how long does it take for Mumbai consuler to upgrade a file.
And for how long should I wait before calling the embassay.?

All responses are greatfully appreciated..!!!

It was for Sabod...

In your case, when did you become a citizen and when did you send your citizen certificate to Mumbai? Have you also sent your citizen certificate to NVC? If you have not sent it to NVC, I would contact them by phone, and ask for advise on what needs to be done given your change in circumstances. I would also contact the Mumbai office to see if they have received your certificate, and enquire on next steps.

Unfortunately, I'm not in your situation so I cant give you any specific information. Again try calling both the NVC and the Mumbai office to make sure they know you are a citizen now, and that the case should be made current, and hopefully they'll upgrade your petition and schedule your appointment for March/April

good luck.

Hi, my case was completed at NVC and they have sent it to Mumbai, what is the next step? Will they send the packet 3 next? Can I just mail them the packet 3 since it is downloadable from the internet? If anyone has gone thru this, can they plz help. Thanks so much.

Hi this is tani,

If my memory serves me well. the NVC sends package 3 to Bombay and then Bombay sends it to you.
This is the website: http://mumbai.uscons...eQ/packeta1.pdf

You do step 1 and send it to them

And then step 2 is done after you send them step one or even before you get the package 3 from them. You need all those stuff by the interview.

you wait for package 4 which is the interview letter. telling you what date it is, usually 4-6 weeks after they get step 1 from you.

Good luck

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresChoice of Agent form

Hi there

I wonder if anyone could advise me please.

In order to speed the process up a little I followed the advice given here previously regarding the choice of agent form and emailed my choice of agent to the NVC.
I sent the email back on the 19th Dec 2006 and never recieved a response, so presuming the email might have been lost over the course of the holidays I re-emailed my choice of agent on the 15th Jan 2007, as yet I have still not recieved a response.

I therefore thought it might be best to send the form by snail mail as well just incase there is a problem with email, however it says on the original form that it expires 31-12-2006.
I'm therefore left wondering what to do, do I wait yet longer for an email response ?, can I use the original form even though it says it has expired? do I order a new one?

Please can anyone help?

Thankyou
Sarah and Brian

Sarah, Brian,

Have you contacted the NVC to see if they have updated their records for the Choice of Agent? If not, go ahead and call them, and speak to one of the reps. If they say it has not been updated, ask about what to do with the fact that the form has expired. They'll let you know what the appropriate course of action to take at this point.

Also, just as a side question, on the e-mail you sent, did you ensure you had the NVC case # the petitioner and beneficary's name and DOB.. if that was not included, that could be a potential reason. One other thing I did was to send the e-mail to the NVC using my wife's (beneficary's) e-mail address and not my own.

As you can tell from my time line.. I sent the e-mail at the same time as you, so I don't think it's a case of NVC "loosing track of it".. but who knows

keep us posted on what happens.. good luck

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresroa1 question

Just curious if most have gotten the ROA1 in the mail or via email? I could swear I've seen some people say they got it via email but I don't see anywhere on the form that asks for an email address.

Not sure what you are refering to as the "ROA1". Did you really mean to say NOA1 or Notice of Action 1? If so, the NOA1 is also going to be sent to you through the mail. You would not see an e-mail for NOA1. Once you get your NOA1 with the recepit # you can sign up for automatic case status updates at the USCIS website at the following website https://egov.immigra.../jsps/index.jsp

Once your I-130 has been approved, they'll send you an e-mail stating the case has been approved, but the offical NOA2 will come through the mail as well.

Good luck!

I am having problems with the barcode generator. The barcode gets generated but when I try to copy and paste it the image does not transfer. Has anyone else noticed this problem? I am trying to send in the tax release form.

Can I just print it and stick it on the form?

Try the following

Here are the steps you need to take.

1) Use Jame's instructions to actually generate the bar code.

2) Do a "right click" with your mouse over the bar code and click on "save picture as"

3) Save the picture on your desktop.

4) Go to the file on your desktop and do a "right-click" on the file

5) Go to "Open with"

6) Select "Microsoft Office Picture Manager" as your first choice if you don't have that then use "Microsoft Paint"

7) If using Picture Manager, open the file put your mouse over the picture and do a right-click and go to "edit pictures" A panel will pop-up on the right side of the screen

8) Under "edit using these tools" click on the crop function. You'll see thick black lines around the picture.

9) Put the mouse over the middle - dottom horizontal line. Left click and move the mouse up so that the black line are now above the verbage "Powered by IdAutomation.com" and click on the "O.K" button on the pop-up window on the right hand side. That will crop your picture for you.

10) Now do a right click over the cropped picture.. click on "copy" go to the document where you need to replace the bar code and paste it.

11) Simillary if you are using Microsoft Paint.. you'll do something similar.. where you crop out the verbage and copy and paste it on the appropriate document.

Hope this helps.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresphone number question

Quick question. I used my home phone number on I-130 & 129F. Since i don't answer my home phone if i'm not familiar with the caller's number. Now i'm in the last part, I used my cellphone number on my DS230. They are reviewing it right now (2-4 weeks). do you guys think it will affect my DS230 or i might receive RFE with this?
Thanks for the time

Don't really have an answer for you on this one, since I was very consistant with keeping the same number of all the forms. I would be VERY surprised if it did casue an issue though.

My DS230 is being reviewd right now as well

After preparing the Affidavit of Support bill from NVC using James shortcuts, how is the single sheet with barcode utilized?
Is it folded and inserted with the bill and money order? Or should it be left flat and mailed in a large envelop?

You need to cut the Barcode (payment slip) at the dotted line. Use a paperclip and attach the check and the payment slip together into an envelope. I then put the envelope into a USPS overnight express envelope and sent it off.

I wrote on top of the envlope the NVC case number with my wife's Name and DOB as well as my own.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureswhat is choice of agent?
Hi,

Once your I-130 is approved, your case will be sent to the NVC (National Visa Center) in New Hampshire. This is where the actual immigrant visa application takes place. At the NVC, there are two different tracks.. one for the immigrant (your wife) and one for the sponser (you). The choice of agent is the first step in the process for your wife. Essentially it is asking the immigrant who they should sent all the corrospondence to. The choice of agent can be either the immigrant or the sponsor. Typically most people will assign the sponsor to be the choice of agent. Since the sponsor is in the USA it will take less time to deliver the documents to a US address than to an address in India, and thus save a lot of time in the immigration process.

Most people send an e-mail to the NVC to assign the agent which saves even more time. The choice of agent will always be sent to the immigrant, so by e-mailing a note save's a lot of time. Once NVC accepts the choice of agent, they'll generate the fee associated with the application to the appointed choice of agent as well as the DS230 application.

Go to the guides section and review the NVC process for a better understanding of how that process works. You can also go to the NVC forum and pinned at the top are shortcuts refered to as James' shortcuts (e-mailing Choice of Agent is one) that you can use to reduce the time your application will spend at the NVC.

Below is my e-mail that I sent to the NVC for the choice of agent. NVC replied back about 4 days later stating that they have updated the choice of agent in their records, and that all corrospondences will be sent to me (the husband)

Good luck!

I'm preparing to submit the DS230 and I want to use the shortcut. I downloaded the Barcode Cover Sheet, and I'm just wondering if you changed the text where it says return with "completed DS-230 Part I" to indicate Part I and Part II.

I know it's a silly little thing, but I'm just trying to decide if I should change it.

Also, I'm attaching: birth cert., marriage cert., police cert., and photcopy of passport bio page. There are no prior marriages, military service etc. so I think that's all I need - if anyone wants to confirm that would be great :)

Thanks for any advice!

Riblet,

I did not change the text..since I'm going throug Mumbai, I only needed to send in Part I. It'll be interesting to read other people's comments on this. If you are uncertain about what to do, you could wait for the orignal but as you know it will delay the process slightly.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 filed in Delhi, waiting to hear from Chennai... Please guide me.

Hi Friends,
I have filed I-130 last week in Delhi.
The lady at the winow said we will hear from the chennai consulate within 2 months or so !

Now I have some questions regarding what next..
What they told us is to wait for the response from Chennai.

If anybody tried filing in Delhi and waiting to hear from chennai: how long did it take for you to get the packet 3?
did you do some follow up after your filing? if yes, could you please send me the email/phone# for communication?

Regarding afidavit of support, since my wife is not working here in India, we need to get the income of her parents(household members I 864A)
Is it needed for them to notarize the I 864A, since they are sending it from the US?
if she has a bank balance of 16500 USD which is the 125% of the poverty line income, would that be enough? It might be safe to include the income of her parents too right?
I can get an offer letter from the head quarters of my company which is in Washington where I can continue my job in the US. Can I include that in the aphidavit of support?
Since the objective of this is to make sure that I wont be a public charge :) , An assured job offer would be a possible item to include. So is there a way I can include it?

I really appreciate if anyone could shed more light on these questions.

thank you so much
Geophil,

I may be wrong, but I believe the Affidavit of Support has to be from the petitioner - the US Citizen. I don't think the beneficary - your wife or her parents can be the sponsor.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureswhat is the difference of IR1 AND CRI VISA??

HELLO GUYS,
WANTED TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE OF CR1 AND IRI..MY HUSBAND FILED A PETITION TO ME FOR K3...BUT THE 129 F WAS STILL PENDING NOT YET APPROVE..BUT THE I 130 WAS APPROVED ALREADY..WE FILED THE DS-230 FORM 3 WEEKS AGO..DONT KNOW WHICH STATUS ARE WE IN NOW...WAS IT CRI OR IR1?THANKS AND GODBLESS!

The difference between IR (immidiate residency) and CR (conditional residency) is that the IR give you a 10 year green card, where as the CR visa only gives you a 2 year green card. The determining factor for eligability of an IR visa is how long you have been married at the time of the interview. For an IR visa you would have to be married for more than 2 years, if you don't meet that requirment you'll be given a CR visa.

If you get a CR visa, once in the USA, 3 months before the CR visa is about to expire you can apply to remove conditions and get the 10 year green card.

A CR visa is used to ensure that the marriage is not fradulant. When applying to remove conditions both husband and wife need to sign the application and attend the interview together. Additional evidence of an "on-going" marriage is also required. You can get more information in the forum that discusses lifting conditions.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNOA 2 Approved

The Lord is an awesome God. I came in to work this morning at 7:00 am, turned on my computer, went to check my email and there it was! I received 3 emails from USCIS that my I130 petition was APPROVED!!!
I started to scream, my co-workers came into my office and I shared my news with them. I got into my car went to the Gas station and bought a calling card to informed Radu of the wonderful news!
We are both estactic and so happy. :D
I wanted to share our happy news with you all and tell you, yesterday I was down in the dumps about all of this, I even wrote a letter to the Congressman pleading for help. I never gave up on my faith. The Lord answered my prayers!

Hang in there guys, miracles do happen, I'm a witness of that. It will happen to you as well. (L)

Mari

Mari, FYI.. I took the liberty to update your record on the I-130 timeline thread to reflect your NOA2!

Congrats.. that was a very quick approval

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIR1 classification

I got my AOS bill the other day. I just sent my AOS bill today. The visa class on it is IR1. I haven't been married for a year yet. Is this the NVCs way of saying it will be over a year before my wife can come to the US? :(

I would hope that is not the case. Perhaps they misclassified it? If they have misclassified it, you may get lucky and your wife will get an unconditional greencard.. think positive!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHusband visited my country once and we got married

I am from India and my husband is U.S citizen. We have filled all required forms(G-325, I -130, I-864, DS-230). I have gone through my medical test too. I have been given an interview date, this month. As I said earlier, my husband visited India only once and we got married a month after we met each other and then he stayed with me for another 10 days before leaving for the U.S. I have my wedding albums showing my family and our marriage certificate. Is there going to be any problem?
I need help.

I do not think it will be an issue. Personally I know of several people who are in your situation (I am one of them as well) that had a successful interview and were granted the visa. As long as you bring enough proof of an on-going relationship such as greeting cards, e-mail, telephone call records, etc as well as the wedding albums, you should be fine.

When is your interview?

Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHusband visited my country once and we got married

My husband visited my country only once and we decided to get married after a month of our first meeting and then he stayed with me for 10 days. Will this cause any problem? I have my marriage ceritficate and wedding album as an evidence.

Need some clarification.. who in this situation is the U.S. Citizen the husband or wife? and when you say "my country" which country are you talking about?

We need to know this information to help answer your question.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPLEASE HELP!! - - DS230 question

Any one going through india embassy?

Please tell me what all is needed to send with DS230 application?
do i have to send my spouses: police certificate + birth certificate + any thing else...

I know he has to fill out the application + photocopy of his passport....but what about any other documents that he needs?

thanks in advance for your help..

I'm going through the Mumbai embassy on a CR/IR1 visa, and for the DS230, all I had to submit was the DS230 part 1 and the photocopy of the passport. Since you are doing a K3 visa, I'm not sure if you need any additional information.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow lonb shoul I wait b4 inquring on the case..?

Hey Meauxna..!!

U have great memory. Well, thanks for remembering my post and case.

I only mentioned about Embassy because my file was transfered from NVC to embassy in Oct. 2005.

NVC does not have my case and that is why they told me on phone not to send them. I still could have but i know what will be the answer from them so why even bother them.

On the US Consulate general of Mumbai's Web site I see many people r getting interview for their IR-1 cases. But no one wants to share their experiance. I gues..s....!!

Anyway..!
Once again thanks for your reply.

I don't think it a matter of "not wanting to share".. you are asking for people expereince as it relates to your specific situation.. it is very likley that most people are not in your situation and therefore can not share an experience they have not been in.

Most of the petitioners were USC's before starting the process.

In any case, I think your best option is to call or e-mail the embassy in question and ask where your case stands. If you say you've sent evidence of your citizenship to the embassy, ask if they have received it..

Good luck

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRequest For Evidence

I couldn't seem to filter the timelines for this query, so I thought I'd ask here....

I just got a RFE for a something fairly straightforward. I'm getting the required documentation overnighted to me and will overnight it to CSC when I get it.

My question is, does this mean I'm back at the beginning of the pile? Or does it mean that I'm almost to NOA2 status as soon as they get the document they are looking for?

Thanks,

-B

Hard to say really. From what I've seen it varies from 2-6 weeks. From my understanding when you send back the RFE USCIS are supposed to start reviewing your case at that time.. but who know what the USCIS does...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAre there time limits on when she can go?

She got the CR-1 visa a few weeks ago.

We are waiting to get a passport for the baby, who was born a week later.

How long is the CR-1 good for travel to the US? Is there any limit?

Yes, the visa is only good for 6 months from the date it was issued. If your wife does not come into the USA before that date, the visa will be invalid and you'll have to re-apply all over again.

Congrats on the approval.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIR-1 or CR-1 - Which am I???

My last letter from the NVC says that CR-1 but it was mailed out prior to our two year anniversary. Will we still get the CR-1 or will they change it to a IR-1?

Also, does an IR-1 need to be renewed?

They should change it to IR status at some stage prior to the interview. If they have not done so, I would have your wife ask during the interview.

The IR-1 is valid for 10 years.. so technically you'll need to renew it at that time, unless you become a USC before then.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIR-1 or CR-1 - Which am I???

When I first filed my I-130 my wife and I had only been married for a few months. We haven't rushed things and now that my interview is coming up we have been married for over two years.

IF they issue me with a visa will it have the two year conditional requirement attached to it?

Many thanks.

You should be an IR status. The paper work that was mailed back to you from the NVC (cover sheets for DS230 and AOS) should have had an IR or CR next to your case number..

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC

Our application was approved on 5th February 2007. The National Visa Center has not received the application yet. How long does it take to go from California to New Hampshire?? I have checked the timelines and have found the average is 1-2 weeks. Should I worry yet? Has anyone else waited 2+ weeks for the apprved application to be received by NVC?

Also, how do I know thy have received the application, other than calling, which I have been doing everyday. Do they email or send a letter?

Since you are doing a K3, which application was approved? Was it the I-130 or the I129F? If it's the I129F you'll have to call NVC and speak to a live person to get status on your case as the automated system does not update I-129F cases. If it was the I-130 your case should be reflected in the automated system. Typically the system is updated every Tuesday. So I would wait until next Tuesday before making any additional inquires
