could I sent to AOS fee bill and tell my wife to email the choice of agent as soon as the 3032 and AOS bill are generated?

does printing the barcodes and the shortcut works with out problem from NVS.
thaks for you help

Yes the barcodes and the e-mail of the choice of agent to the NVC will work. Just be sure to wait until the automated phone message at NVC tells you that the two documents have been generated. Do not send anything before that.

Good luck.

So once the two documents will be generated, I will print the Bill and tell my wife to email them the choice of agent; I didn't really undertand the shortcut for the barcode and how I will sent the bill could you please explain how I do that, I know it said it in the shortcut but it still confusing for me the printing the barcode!

So it all what I have to do first tell my wife to email them the choice of agent anf print the bill and send it, of course after they get generated?

If you are unsure about generating the barcode, then I would suggest not using that short cut and just wait for the offical bar code to come through the mail.

With the e-mail of choice of agent either you or your wife can do this. Just remember to send the e-mail from your wife's email account and not your own.

Here is what I sent to NVC for the choice of agent using my wife's e-mail account. I got a response back from NVC in a couple of days acknowledging the Choice of Agent. If you do the e-mail, your wife will still reveice the offical Choice of Agent form, however she will not need to send that back to the NVC.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurespolice certificates...

hello all,
good morning to everyone :) I guess this question is mainly related to anyone from gujarat/india region. I wanted to know if the police station in gujarat have some kind of formate for this police clearance certificates..?? I mean, does it need to be typed in some special way for the consulates at Mumbai or they just have standard letter saying my wife does have any criminal records. furthermore, if anybody can share their experience on how easy/long it was to obtain it...? any info will do great!!!!!!! thanks a lloooooooot for the help.

Soni,

My wife is from gujarat, and she just went and got her police cleareance certificate from the local police station in Rajkot, and she has also gone to Ahemdabad to get the passport cleareance.

I'm not sure what the format was like, but when she went to the local police and the passport office, she took her interview letter, and said she needs the cleareance certificates. I think the police stations will know exactly what is needed on them.

It was fairly easy to get the certificates. The local rajkot one took approx 4 days, and the passport one, was supposed to be mailed by this saturday, but she has not received it yet.

One thing for sure, at least for us, was that my wife needed the interview letter.

Based on your timeline, it's seems you have a long way to go before you get to that stage. No need to worry about it just yet!

Good luck

I sent in the DS230 and I forgot to write the NVC case number on the right corner of all my documents. Anyone has infor on this. Will this cause and RFE. Thanks

It should not cause an RFE. They ask you to do that just incase the application gets seperated from the bar code cover sheet. It helps to keep track of it.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresChoice of agent question
As I had previously stated, if the USC is assigned the Choice of Agent, then the Immigration Fee Bill and the DS230 Part 1 from the NVC will be sent to the USC for sure.

With regards to what happens after NVC completes the case and sends it to the embassy, my orignal statement stands. In some cases Packet 4 will be sent to the beneficary regardless of who the Choice of Agent is, and in other cases Packet 4 will be sent to the Choice of Agent.

Goodluck

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresChoice of agent question

When we appoint a choice of agent is that just for the NVC process or do they still send all paperwork to the agent when the case goes to the embassy. Because we will choose my husband as choice of agent and he lives in us but hw will be coming to UK around the for a few months around the time is likely to get transfered to the embassy

It really depends on the embassy/consulate you are going through. In my case, going through Mumbai India, I the USC was the choice of agent. I received the IV fee bill and the DS230 from the NVC (which would have gone to my wife in India had I not been the Choice of Agent). When the file ultimately went to the Mumbai consulate, and the interview was scheduled, the interview letter (packet 4) was sent directly to my wife.

Some consulates will send packet 4 to the Choice of Agent, and others will send it directly to the beneficary regardless of who the Choice of Agent is.

Good luck.

Good Morning all fellow VJers!
I have read thru and am trying to prepare to follow James; shortcuts but I dont understand about having a coverletter for the I-864 package. What is it and what does it need to say on it? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks as always.

The coverletter is pretty much a "table of contents" which summerizes what documents have been submited in the package and where in the package it can be found.

It is not required, but it does help the folks at NVC when they are reviewing your documents.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVISA APPROVED

Wife was so paranoid last night about the interview, I spent half hour on the phone trying to calm her down, and asking her to get a good sleep. She was stressing out too much. I guess, after a year being apart, this whole process has taken a lot from us. Well, this morning, around 9 am, we seemed to recover much of it.
In less than an hour my wife got her visa approved. Everything went smooth and easy. After some officer took the required documents, she was told to take a seat and waited for about half an hour. Then she was taken to the Consul, she had my wife answer 4 questions, and 5 minutes later she was congratulated and given instructions for picking up her passport with the visa and the ¨brown envelope¨ at the Nicaraguan Post Office, six days from today. Wife called inmediately after getting out from the Embassy.

These were the questions:

1. Where does your husband lives?
2. What does he do for a living?
3. When did you get married?
4. Who prepared all these documents for you?.

Consul was impressed about the file folder and binder I organized for my wife. She said that usually, lawyers are the one who prepares this.

I will post a Consulate review later.

Thanks to all for your best wishes and for having me here since November. It´s been quite a ride, with its highs and lows. VJ was extremely helpful and I hope to use my experience here to help others.

-Justo.

Congratulations Justo! I'm truley happy for you guys. I'm glad the interview was a breeze.. I'm hoping for the same for my wife.

Thanks guys,

Congratulations!

Have a quick question regarding the $380 DD. Did you not pay that at the NVC since you are doing a CR1 visa?

Why did you have to pay for it again?

devblt,
we were trying the DCF rout(US citizen resident in India can walk-in to the Delhi embassy and file I-130), so it was not through NVC. That means we have to pay $380 at the time of the interview.

O.K.. good to know. Your timeline didn't indiciate DCF that's why I was wondering.

Congratulations again. When do you expect your wife to come over?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAnyone with a May Interview date at Mumbai consulate
Hi All,

Just wondering if any of you going through the Mumbai consulate in India have been given an interview date for sometime in May?

My case was received at the consulate in the first week of March. We were hoping for an April interview date, but that did not happen. I am hoping for an interview date in May, but my wife has not heard anything from Mumbai yet. So I was wondering if there is anyone out here that have already received their appointment letter for May (Cr1 visa inparticular)

Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCR1 interview scheduled or is it???
Thanks for the advice guys.

We tried calling the Mumbai consulate but kept getting a busy signal all day long. So I sent an e-mail requesting to change the interview date.

I taked to my wife about it yesterday, and there is no way that she can postpone her exams. She was told that if she does not attend the exam, she will be giving a failing grade.

At this point, I'd rather have her go to the exam than to the interview, even if it means the interview is postponed by a month or more.

I hope to receive some sort of conformation from the embassy in the next couple of days.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCR1 interview scheduled or is it???
Hello fellow journeymen/women

The light at the end of the tunnel is sooo close that I can almost touch it. Alas, it looks like the Immigration gods are testing our will and paitents. My wife has been given an interview date for 4th of May, unfortunately she has a final exams in the first two weeks of May and there is no way she can postpone those either. So we'll have to try and reschedule the interview for later in May or it could get pushed out to June.

Anyone else been in a similar situation regardless of embassy? I'd like to know how flexiable the counsulates are at rescheduling interviews or whether they'll see this as a "red flag" of some sort.

Thanks.. and hang in there your time will come

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMust US Spouse Attend Interview at US Consulate

:help:

Hi, we went through this entire process, and I attended my Canadian husband's interview in Montreal, Quebec. I took several days off of work (requested a leave of absence) to attend the interview. I had to pick my husband up in Ontario, we had to pick up his criminal history report and medical records, drive to Montreal the day before (so we could be there early in the morning), then drive back to Ontario to get his belongings before we returned to the U.S. He's here now, has a social security card, and things are going great.

HOWEVER ...

My employer allows employees to attend legal matters including jury duty, being a witness, being subpoenaed to a hearing or trial, etc.

I felt that my employer should allow me to take time off to attend this immigration hearing.

The staffing coordinator approved the time off, but I was then fired for not getting an official approval for a "leave of absence" from the big boss. I had no idea that I had to do so, and I only took 4 days off of work (unpaid).

I am attempting to fight this wrongful termination - but I cannot find in the law where it says whether the U.S. spouse or fiance of a Canadian citizen immigrating to the U.S. based on marriage to a U.S. citizen is required to attend the interview for the "green card". It seems like they would have to, as we were asked questions about how we met, etc.

Does anyone know the answer to this question, and, if so, where the law/rule/regulation is so I can print it out and bring it to my appeal?

Thanks so much!

Fired

Do you have any documentary evidence from the staffing coordinator that you had been approved for time off? It seems to me that this is the key. If you were approved, then you were approved. If there was no instructions on getting additional sign-off from the BIG BOSS MAN.. that is not your fault.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK3 Visa - Embassy or Consulate

I hope someone can help me with this issue. I just filed I-129F for K3 Visa for my wife in India. I had put down Mumbai, India as the Embassy or Consulate where my wife will apply for visa. Has anyone ever dealt w/ Mumbai Embassy? Is that correct embassy for K3 Visa in India? Thank you for your help in advance.

Jay

Jay,

I'm going through the Mumbai consulate. The question of whether this is the correct embassy or not depends on where in India your wife currently resides.

At a high level, all "Northern" parts of India are services by Delhi consulate. Western states are serviced by Mumbai. Southern states are serviced by Chennai and Eastern states are serviced by Kolkota.

My wife is from the State of Gujarat, for which Mumbai is the consulate.

Send me a personal message if you have additional questions.

Thanks and goodluck

I don't believe you can. I have not heard of any K1/K3/CR-IR1 visa applicant going directly to the embassy (New Delhi) or any of the consulates to hand deliver documents.

Is this also true of K3 Visa Petitions? The reason i ask is because K3 Visa and IR Spouse Visa petitions are handled differently even at NVC. My K3 visa case was transfered to embassy at beginning of April and we waited couple of weeks for Packet 3 but it didn't arrive so we downloaded the required from from the embassy website and submitted to the embassy on April 18. Since then we have not received any information from the embassy. We sent couple of email and still no reply.

Which embassy are you going through in India? I sent a couple of e-mails to Mumbai but never responded in a timly manner. I think the DOS would have information on all cases. It's worth a try.

Hello!!

My K3 after approval was shipped from NVC to Chennai on April 11, 15 days ago. Chennai as of last night has no record of it arriving. How long does this normally take? Should I panic? If so, how do I rectify??

THANK YOU!

Do you know if a case number was assigned prior to it being sent to Chennai?

You should try calling the DOS (dept of state) at 202-663-1225 (option 1 listen to the whole recording.. after a small silence, the recording will tell you to press "0" to talk to a live operator). Reference your NVC case number if you have one or your USCIS case number, and they should be able to provide some information. US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionIndia - Police Cert Requires Interview Letter

Hello VJ patient ones.

If you're interested in India information, I just found something out from my wife (who is far far away from me in India). We tried to speed up the process a bit by getting the police certificate done ahead of time. Chennai will be sending her the interview letter shortly, but haven't yet. Just so you know - they need to see the letter from the consulate asking for the interview in order to issue a police certificate.

Hopefully this will save you from wasting the time running around trying to get the police cert. Good luck!

I want to "second" that. My wife also in India (and far away from me :crying: ) has her interview scheduled for May 24th. We ended up waiting for the interview letter before she went to get the cleareance certificates. When she did go, they asked her for the interview letter. This was the case for both the local police cleareance and the passport cleareance as well.

For those of you doing CR/IR1 process and have already gone for the interview or will be in the next week or two.. I wanted to inquire about the whole VCF process.

On the Mumbai site, it says that all the required documents need to be submited to your local VCF office. Does this also include the results from the medical exam? The reason I ask is that my wife is in Rajkot Gujarat, the medicals can only be done in Mumbai, and VCF states that all documents need to be submited 10 days prior to the interview.
So would that mean my wife would need to go to mumbai and get her medical done so she can submit it 10 days prior to the interview? Or can she go to the VCF office in Ahamdabhad and submit all the documents except the medical and do that a couple of days before the interview and take the results with her for the interview?

Also, at the VCF, what are the total fees that need to be paid?

Thanks guys

A response would be greatly appriciated to the question above

We had gone throu this...and I am also very familiar with lots of applicants from Rajkot/Ahmedabad area....answers to your questions are as below:
(1) she can submit the paperwork except medical to ahmedabad VFS office. The rule to submit papers to VFS is max. 15 days before but min 10 days beofe. Pl remember these are 10 & 15 working days..so exclude weekends and holidays from it..(for ex, my wife's interview was on 1st feb so window to submit was 8th jan to 16 jan...as threre were few hoildays in between...so get the idea?)
(2) it is better if she can go in person to submit papers to VFS..because they need to see passport to put some tracking barcode on it...so its good to go in person as u need to carry passport and original appt letter.
(3) Rs. 365 can be paid in CASH...
(4) For medical, she can fix appt in mumbai one or two days before interview date and get it done in one trip. They give report same day...so she can carry that with her in interview...no problem.

Hope this helps....if there are any more question, feel free to let me know....
good luck.....

Dev

My wife had successful interview at Mumbai consulate yesterday .She got in at 7:30 and came out at 1:00 pm.
Your wife does not need to submit medical report at VFS, Ahmedabad, YOu can do it 1 or 2 days prior and carry with you during the interview. The VFS fee is just Rs.365 which is courier fee.Other than that i don't think any.
She was able to pick visa same day from the consulate.

P.S Documents submission at VCF is before 15 days not 10 days. They will not accept it b4 10 days.
Hope this helps.

The Rs365 is that paid in cash or does it have to be a bank draft?

Also, does she have to Ahmedabad in person, or can she have someone go their on her behalf? She'll already has to go to Ahmedabad for her Police clearence certificate, and I want to avoid her taking another trip just to drop of the documents if it's not neccessary.. it's about a 4 hour drive each way.

Thanks
