Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionOctober filers
So I got a letter yesterday from USCIS (I filed my i751 to VSC)

"Congratulations! Your request for the removal of the conditional bases of your permanent resident status has been approved."

I went to the website and I got the confirmation

"Post-Decision Activity
On January 22, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this CRI89 PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations."

So...WOOOHOOO! Everything seems to be OK! Now to look forward to the next steps..not sure if file for citizenship will be the next step.. but on the other side.. dealing with this stress every 10 years is not something that I want to to through again. So I think I will apply.

thanks guys for your patience and support on this process. Please PM me if someone is from Charlotte NC! We need to go to get a drink to celebrate :)

Thanks again!

everything went fine. Entered US via ATL after 25/12 (after the nigerian guy with some stuff decided to try to take a plane..)

other than the increased security, nothing else. Thank God.

now, patience as usual. Hope everything goes fine.

Congrats to the lucky ones that are done with this, and for the rest of us..let's be patient.

I wish everybody a great 2010. I hope everything will be better than this year.

Thanks for your help and support.

CanadaJust got my interview!
Le Nouvel Hotel - I got it through the Priceline name your own price option, so I didn't know which hotel until after it was booked, but I got a really good deal because of that.

CanadaJust got my interview!
I haven't actually posted as of yet, but this site has been so helpful with helping me stay calm! I received my e-mail (we did online processing) today confirming my interview for June 27! As excited as I am, talk about bad timing. I am a teacher and that is the last week of school! lol

So first thing tomorrow I am going to call the doctor in Toronto to book my medical, book an appointment with my family doctor to get me vaccination records, and take a deep breath!

I registered for DHL tonight, however according to Montreal's website I don't have an interview date scheduled as of yet. I am assuming this is because I just received my confirmation and the transfer of information from NVC to Montreal is probably slow.

So am I missing anything? Does anyone have any tips or reminders to help me make it through the nest month and a half? :)

I am so frustrated...my mom lost my vaccination card, so now I am scrambling to get proof of vaccination as my medical is June 6! I called Peel Health, but they have destroyed the record, so now I am heading to get titres done. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the results of the titres back? Should I be trying to reschedule my medical?

CanadaMontreal site says I don't have a date???
So about a week and a half ago I got my interview confirmation from NVC saying that my interview is scheduled for June 27th. However, when I log on to the Montreal consulate web-site it says that I don't have an interview date scheduled yet. Is this normal or should I be worried and be trying to contact someone? Thanks!

CanadaPOE - Driving over with parents and hubby, so three seperate vehicles
I am planning on doing my POE the second week of August at the Rainbow Bridge in Buffalo. My husband is driving up here to help with packing and everything and then for the POE he is driving his car across, I am driving my car, and my parents are driving their car. All three cars are going to be packed with all of my stuff. I know I need to go in and meet with customs agents etc, but I am not sure what my parents and husband should tell the border guard. Should I cross first and have them cross directly behind me so they can pull over and wait as well? Any information you have would be very helpful!

So the big day is finally here, and I am finally moving tomorrow! I think I have everything ready to go, but any feedback/suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

1. I have my SEALED brown envelope
2. Passport with VISA
3. Itemized list of what is in the vehicles
4. Letter from FORD so that I can import my vehicle

Am I missing anything?

CanadaFrustrated with trying to get money to the US!
Thanks for the advice everyone. It sounds like RBC is the way to go. My next question is since I am already living in the US, should I try to open a Canadian account through their web-site or should I go to the US branch and organize everything through them?

CanadaFrustrated with trying to get money to the US!
Ok, I think I have read every post on using Custom House (which is now owned by Western Union) and banking with RBC. I have no idea what to do! I NEED to get some money here, and hopefully my EI cheques (a whole other disaster story) are going to finally start coming soon, and I could really use access to this money. I contacted Custom House and tried to open an account, but they needed me to get a form filled out by a guarantor, and I haven't been able to do this. Is it worth my while to try and open an RBC account in Canada? I currently bank with PC Financial (I still have my parents address as my mailing address so that I don't have to close my accounts) and have several accounts with them, including my RRSP. At this point I just really need some good advice on the best way to get money here (and the cheapest :D ). Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

CanadaI-751 evidence - worried!

I am getting ready to submit my I-751 package and I am starting to worry it won't be enough.  My husband and I have seperate bank accounts since I bank with RBC beacuse of investments and stuff I still have in Canada, and he already had existing bank accounts with BofA.  We have one joint account that our tax returns go into, but thats it, so we don't really use it much.  Is this going to be a problem?  Also, my husband already owned the house, so I am not on the mortgage.  Any suggestions?  Should I be freaking out?

Having filed our I-130 in October 07, we got got caught in the receipt delay and didn't receive our NOA1 until Jan 08. Our I-129F therefore was not sent until the start of Feb 08. We thought that this meant that our K3 application would still be processed in line with our October application, but having spoken with USCIS today, oh no!!! Our I-130 will be processed under our October receipt date (currently Vermont is processing July applications), but our I-129F will be processed under our February receipt date (currently Vermont is processing October applications).

This means we are penalised twice!! Once for waiting months for our I-130 receipt and then again to be processed under our I-129F February receipt date, when we should have been able to file the I-129F in October!!!! Is anyone else being penalised in the same way?!!

What really makes me angry is that someone who filed the I-130 in December or January would have received a receipt within a few days, filed their I-129F and will actually be ahead of us in the K3 queue/line!!!

This on top of as a recent ex-British military member and having served alongside the US troops (certainly no complaints with these guys!), this gives me no credit at all, despite the fact that current troops get put to the front of the line.

Sorry for the rant, I know there are lots of us in similar positions, but I feel very angry right now!

Hello,

I was told quite the opposite story by more than 5 officers. I filed Sept 6th, 2007, didnt receive my NOA1 until January 18TH, then filed the 129F which wasn't received until Feb 18Th, 2008. Also because of the receipting delays I had to wait close to 5 mths. After performing the RFE trick a few times, i was told my petitions have been paired up and will be worked on together going by the original date of Sept. 6th, 2007. What I did wrong is followed the procedures by wating on that NOA1 which took 5mths to be done. I should have just sent a copy of my check and Fed ex receipt for my I130 to get things started. There are many other threads where petitioners did not wait around for the NOA1 and there petitions were accepted. It's going on 8mths on May 6th, for me. So, so sad!

Not sure what the RFE trick is, would love to know!!?? But I agree, was a BIG mistake waiting for the I-130 NOA1!!!
Sorry to hear that you are waiting so long!

Thanks for the sympathy!

The RFE trick is a silly game you have to play in order to get transferred to the VSC and speak to someone who is at the center where your petition is being worked on. You basically have to hit the button stating you received a letter from USCIS requesting addl evidence on your case. Then you have to hit the button stating you don't understand what they are requesting. Somewhere in there you punch in your receipt number. After these steps you get transferred righ to the center where your papers are being processed. Then you have to say you believe you got an RFE but you never got anything in the mail. Basically saying you were touched according to the website. It's a shame we have to play these tricks to get answers. I was touched a few times but it never amounted to anything. I called and the officers were very nice. Basically said give it 30 days. My peition is coming up next. Also said they paired the 2 together and they will honor the Sept date. I contacted my local Congresswoman, she filed aninquiry and they told her They are still finishing up July 30 & have worked into August. It's a shame when you know by being on visa journey that they are not going in chronological order as they claimed they are madated by law to do so. This is such a LIE as we have proof of this on visajourney.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about howto start the K-3 Visa Process.
For me the K3 route is the fastest and best in terms of being together quicker with my husband. Nigeria has a 7-8 month wait for interviews so the $1000 to adjust and dealing with not working for 3months is obsolete for us in this situation. Find out the waiting time for interviews in you're spouses Country first before you make the decision. I got approved for both as well but my K3 is on it's way to the embassy and the interview is 2 months for the k3 oppsed to 7-8 months for the CR1. If I could stand being apart from my husband for close to 2 years then the CR1 would have been my choice but a marriage couples should not be apart for this long or else the strain on the marraige willbe more detrimental than paying 1k and waiting 3mths to work. Acarefully consider the Country youre spouse is from and the interview timefram.

Recent changes in U.S. laws governing visa policy and procedures have increased the amount of time it can take to obtain a visa. Apply early! Even with the visa processing improvements that have been made and will continue to be made, it is inevitable that delays will sometimes occur. Processing times will vary.

The State Department's goal is visa delivery no more than 30 days from the time of application in most cases, although cases that require administrative processing could take longer. Most administrative processing is resolved within 60 days of application. When administrative processing is required, the timing will vary based on individual circumstances of each case. Therefore, before making inquiries about status of administrative processing, applicants or their representatives will need to wait at least 90 days from the date of interview or submission of supplemental documents, whichever is later.

If you want to visit the U.S. and require a visa, plan to schedule your visa interview well in advance of your departure date. Learn more by reviewing this website information and contact the U.S. embassy or consulate where you will apply for detailed how-to instructions.

Administrative Processing Information

Some visa applications require further administrative processing, which takes additional time after the visa applicants interview by a Consular Officer. Applicants are advised of this requirement when they apply. Most administrative processing is resolved within 60 days of the visa interview. When administrative processing is required, the timing will vary based on individual circumstances of each case. Visa applicants are reminded to apply early for their visa, well in advance of the anticipated travel date.

Important Notice: Before making inquiries about status of administrative processing, applicants or their representatives will need to wait at least 60 days from the date of interview or submission of supplemental documents, whichever is later.

About Visa Processing Wait Times Nonimmigrant Visa Applicants
Information about nonimmigrant visa wait times for interviews and visa processing time frames are shown on this website, as well as on U.S. Embassy and Consulate websites worldwide. It should be noted that the Wait Times for a Nonimmigrant Visa to be Processed information by country does not include time required for administrative processing. Processing wait time also does not include the time required to return the passport to applicants, by either courier services or the local mail system.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAfter NVC to Kingston Embassy..Please help on next steps
Attention New Immigrant Visa Applicants
Effective September 1, 2013, the DS-260 Online Immigrant Visa Application & Registration will replace Form DS-230.

Applicants can access the new form at the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC) Web site OR at ImmigrantVisas.state.gov.

From the main page on ImmigrantVisas.state.gov, you will click on Submit Visa Application and Civil Documents. It will bring you to a new page. Scroll down to Complete and Submit Application for Immigrant Visa then click Online Forms, DS-260.

Enter your Case Number and Invoice ID Number (the National Visa Center will have already provided you with these numbers) to access the form and complete online.

Ensure that all questions are answered correctly to prevent delays in the processing of your application. Once complete, submit the application by clicking Sign and Submit. You will not be able to access the application again. Print out the confirmation letter.

When you have completed the form, inform the Embassy via e-mail at kingstoniv@state.gov and put the following information in the subject line:

DS-260 COMPLETE: SURNAME, FIRST NAME, MIDDLE NAME, CASE NUMBER.
Example: DS-260 COMPLETE: MANLEY, MICHAEL BERNARD, KNG2000100100.

Bring your confirmation sheet to the interview, but do not bring your application form.

For further assistance access www.travel.state.gov: Online Immigrant Visa Forms: DS-260 FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) or http://www.travel.st.../info_5164.html

Please note: The DS-260 is not required for cases that are already in process at the National Visa Center (NVC), including cases where application documents were submitted, but an interview has not been scheduled.

We will not require the submission of a DS-260 if a valid, signed, unexpired DS-230 is already on file.

For petitioners, who filed an I-130 at USCIS Santo Domingo prior to September 1, and the beneficiary has already submitted a DS-230 or received instructions to do so, we will still accept the DS-230. In all other cases, we will require the new DS-260.
