I'm so happy for you - have a wonderful time!!

Thankyou so much. We are working on some ideas of what to do while I am there. I just talked to his sister and we are plotting against him right now. She takes my side as he likes to mess with his siblings a lot and this makes them want to get him back, lol. Now he complains they always take my side against him, but really he brings it on himself.

That is WAY too much for AMM in October. Eid will be over by then.

Play with the day of the week you are leaving and returning. Try Thursday night out of JFK returning Saturday at 00:00 from Amman. Several hundred dollar difference.

Will you connect at JFK or fly directly out of there?

There is no way I can leave on a Thursday or I would try that. I have been putting Saturday as my return date. I have to connect with JFK/Chicago.

Nope, I'm not on anything and haven't been so its gotta be the right timing. Aside from that, my co-worker that is the only one who does my job besides me is gone until the 10th so I can't leave before then or there will be no one to do my job.

I only ever was on something for those trips. I know, that's bad. Hmmm. Sounsd like you're going to be in a tight spot for timing.

Well, the 10th, if my calculations are right, is about the time I would be freed up to go though I want a day or two leeway. So it should work out for going around the 12th. My husband finds it amusing how I time my trips, lol. Of course it works out to his advantage.

For some weird reason every time I check, the flight going there is always from Chicago, but on the way back it is JFK. I prefer JFK just because that is what I have been using and the flight is a little shorter, but so far I can't find one going out of JFK in the cheap price range. I'll try varying my dates, but I really wanted to leave around the 12th (I'm timing this for obvious female reasons, lol).

Well, if you're on something, you can keep taking it through the expected time of arrival of your Aunt, and then you have a bit of leeway. I did that every time I went because it was never the right time. I have only ever used the direct flight from Chicago route... never JFK. Actually, it's been forever since i went to JFK.

You're going through JFK though, right? Those flights can be cheaper...

How far did he schedule the flight? I am only booking mine a little over a month out so that makes the price a bit higher. Last year I got a ticket in October for Jordan and it was about $1200.

I'm so excited I just have to share this with everyone. I managed to convince my work to give me the time off to go visit my husband. It will only be for two weeks, but I'll take whatever I can get. I will go next month so now I've just got to buy the ticket! This waiting has made me crazy and not seeing him for so long. He was excited when I called and told him. Thank God the ticket prices have gone down since the summer though they are still a little higher than last year.

Middle East and North Africablood and organ donation in MENA
QUOTE (MrsAmera @ Sep 7 2008, 10:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am an organ donator but I like S & S can not stand the sight of blood. Also my veins are super tiny, when I have to get an IV or give blood they have to use a baby needle on me. When I had my last son they had to flip him around (he was breech) and they put an IV in you in case something goes wrong, so they don't have to take the time to hook you up. Anywho, it took like an hour to get the IV in and the procedure took like 10 minutes. So if it were someone very close to me and I was the only way they would be able to get blood I would do it, but mentally I can't do it regularly.

My husband isn't an organ donator - I'm not really sure what his reasons are (maybe it freaks him out). I am wondering if there is some kind of legal ruling (islamic) on this...hmm

I checked on that when arguing with my husband because I want to donate my organs. There are some schools of thought that say you can donate. Here is one link you can look at:

Middle East and North Africablood and organ donation in MENA
I don't donate blood. Several times I could not because of some exceptions. Mostly I do not because I pass out at the site of my blood or any blood going through tubes. Needles and medical stuff just bothers me really bad (ironic I married a doctor, lol). If there was ever an emergency near me, I guess I could hide under a blanket and stick my arm out. Its not that I'm being selfish. I just don't handle it well mentally. At this time I've never dontated, but all my blood tests say I am perfectly healthy and have no weird things so I guess I could. I thank God for those of you who do donate. Don't judge me, we each have our phobias, this is mine.

As for organs, I have no problem donating mine, at least the major ones. I want my eyes left alone. It sounds silly, but I don't want my eyes removed or in someone else's head. Maybe I should stop watching strange movies though, lol.

My husband got upset when he found out my driver's license says I am an organ donar. He told me to take it off. It is not that he has a problem with organ donating. He just gets protective of me. There have been cases where someone could have been saved and the hospital let them go so they could get the organs. It is rare, but I know it worries some people.

Ok guys I have to vent this, because I am losing it here. Why do people think Obama is a Muslim? Of course he is not, but even if he was a Muslim, what does that have to do with running for President of the United States? What happen to separation of church and state, I guess the constitution doesn't mean anything anymore to the people. The outright prejudice of Muslims is nasty in this country. I am not religious at all, but in this country, I thought that we can have our own personal faith without prosecution, but maybe I was wrong, because I just saw some videos my daughter sent me and they were asking people about Obama, and they were saying he was raised Muslim, I am like WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH THE ELECTION??????? I also heard from some people his name is not WHITE ENOUGH. I am really shocked at the ignorance of a lot of people. The funny thing and the sad thing is that the poor man is Christian, and his own people are calling him a Muslim. I guess if you are Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, and just plan atheistic, you are not really an American. Sorry about this rant, but I hate people who hate someone just because of a religion or culture, I thought we came a lot farther than that, but I just feel like slapping some of these people. I just want a president that can get America back on track, if it is through a Muslim, so be it, because we should have separation of church and state, but as we all know since the Patriot act the constitution just doesn't guarantee your rights anymore. Ok, done with my rant, what happened to civil rights and treating all people fairly, oh I am sorry doesn't count unless you are white middle class Christian.

julianna-
Your home is beautiful, you have done a nice job, and I have no talent in trying to put things together. The bathrooms and your kitchen just really beautifully done.

Personally, it gets on my nerves the way people go on and on about Obama's religion. I don't like Obama because he is too ignorant on foreign politics (and a few other things I will leave out), but I don't appreciate seeing everyone be ignorant about his background. Obviously he is Christian, he said so many times. It shouldn't matter what his name is or what color he is. People who judge a person by those characteristics truly annoy me. They should be paying attention to his policies and ideas and records in politics, not nasty rumors or characteristics he was born with. It really is sad. There have been some great leaders with different backgrounds throughout the world. People need to look at what is important about the person running for president, which is how he will lead and where he will take this country.
