Middle East and North AfricaEid Moubarak!
Hmmm, I found this on moonsighting.com about Saudi. It appears Saudi is totally off and wrong, but will not admit it and other countries just follow what Saudi does. Here is the statement:

Official Decision and Announcement of the High Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia: Since the moon of Shawwaal was sighted this evening, here in Saudi Arabia, we shall be completing twenty nine (29) days of Ramadhaan. Subsequently, we shall be celebrating 'Eed al-Fitr on Tuesday 30th September 2008, inshaa.-Allaah
Comment by Moonsighting.com: It was impossible to see the moon in Saudi Arabia. The moon set before sunset and moon age was only less than 7 hours.

Middle East and North AfricaEid Moubarak!
Is it me or is it hard to feel Eid if you are the only muslim around and you are working? My husband called and sounded excited and I felt like saying "Bah Humbug" because there is no difference between Eid and any other day. I don't even have muslims to celebrate with and he doesn't understand that its meaning is lost to me. I have never even seen Eid celebrated though I was in the middle east for Eid last year. I was so sick that I laid in bed for days and missed anything that might have happened.

Cooking doesn't make sense if I don't eat much anyway and the only other relative I have nearby is my father. Usually no matter what I cook we have left overs for two days, lol. No sense in expanding that problem though maybe we can go out to eat, that would be a change (yes Julianna, I am stealing that from you).

well not that short as I dont trust the heating of fung wah:)) (or whatever cheap busline I ake from ny to boston). Plus waiting on trains on top of that.
wow, this is sad. The only person EVER who has picked me up from airport (except one time my parents did at their airport cuz they dont ahve cabbies in northern Ohio in the sticks, but even my husband is noticing how my family does not even bother to call me or anything))...is my husband. And my husband has got to fight like anything to get into Jordan to the airport!! (because they use numbering system at allenby bridge....) But the friends I have here don't even bother (from boston or ny).

Well, that's just sad - I'm sorry... maybe you should try to make new friends - friends that actually give a chit about you! rose.gif

I have no time to find new friends. And plus it costs money to get new friends, like to join a club or something. There is one girl who cares about me, but she does not have a car:) People generally dont care about me and if I died tomorrow, the only person who would notice is my husband. But yet, my husband is not here so no one would even go to the funeral (as if anyone would have one)

I'm so sorry Palilover, it is definitely not easy when the people in your life can't even show they care. Just remember those of us here on VJ do care and wish the best for you. If you ever need to talk, I'm here.

Middle East and North AfricaCaturday!
Ganja Girl- love the representation of the cat brain, lol

As for me today, I've decided my apartment is just too small (severe lack of closet space). I had hoped to wait until my husband came to have him help me pick a new place, but we still have no idea when he will come. For now I am going to find a decent house to rent and if he wants we can always find something else later. By the time I can move in the house it will be cold enough I don't have to worry about lawn mowing which is good because I don't have a lawn mower. I'm just tired of living in aparmtents.

I keep coming back for that very reason. I am really stressed and worry about her.

Me too! I keep praying she is fine and healthy and that the baby is okay. I feel so bad for everything she is facing there in trying to have this baby. Inshallah she will come back soon and tell us everything is good.

Oh Henia, I'm sending you lots of hugs. I feel so badly for you right now and you have been in my prayers. Please take the advice the other girls gave you and get help. You really worry me. If you need anyone else to talk to then send me your phone number and I will be happy to call and talk to you. This is not something you should have to face alone.

That is awful he said that. My husband and his family are the opposite. They are always saying I should eat more and it even bothers my husband some as to how much I work out. It makes no sense for your husband to mention these things. Most middle eastern women are a "healthier" weight than what we consider ideal here. My husband is always saying most middle eastern men prefer a woman who is a bit "fatty". His brother's wife is probably twice my size.

I always thought from the pics you showed that you look on the skinny side. This is just my observation though.

Congrats on the House S and S! $650 is an AWESOME price. I pay more than that for a small itsy bitsy 1 bedroom in Chicago. smile.gif I think its time to relocate.

in northern Cali you can rent a room in someone elses house for $650 but you will probably still have to pay part of the utilities.....Which is why I am on VJ maybe everyother day I work like a slave cuz own a home here. Its a love hate thing smile.gif

I lived in California for awhile and yeah, it is really expensive. There were so many things to do and the scenery was great, but I'm happy in my low cost of living area of the country, lol. Although my driving still reflects having lived in California so I annoy some people when on the road. Its slowly getting calmer tongue.gif

Morning MENA! I hope everyone has a great day. I went looking for a house to rent this weekend as I couldn't stand being in an apartment anymore and my lease is up. I managed to find the perfect one yesterday (no luck during the weekend). Thank God the house has everything I need, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, huge basement, just a few neighbors (rural area). Today I go to start the paperwork. I'm so excited!

I have to change the name on my passport as all my IDs and credit cards are now with my husband's last name. I started to fill out the application and it requires I put the place of the name change.
