I'm moved into my new house and nearly done with all the packing. Thank God for that! Finally convinced my grandfather to come out and visit. He is going to be here a week from Sunday and stay until after Thanksgiving. This weekend I need to go out and find a bed for the bedroom he will sleep in and then get the room ready for him. Guess I'll be busy!

Also, I put a bird feeder up last weekend and finally today the birds found it. It is hanging from a tree in front of the house and my cat is going crazy watching all the birds come by, lol.

Try to keep in mind that there is a time where you will have to carry everything you bring and there will not be anyone to help you unless you get really lucky. Going through customs and immigration is the main one as you must bring your own bags through there so make sure it is manageable for you. That is my best piece of advice.

It is the Soldier,
not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier,

It is the Soldier
who salutes the flag,
who serves beneath the flag,

who allows the protester to burn the flag.

I think the only thing in the Quran that may refer to meat at all is it says you should eat what is authorized and good for you. That could be construed as meat. I love meat too much to give it up as long as it is safe. Don't think my husband could ever give it up either.

My husband hasn't come here yet, but when he first arrived in Jordan there was a funny experience. He went to Hardees and asked them if they had burgers, lol. They looked at him like he was crazy and said that is the main thing they serve. My husband didn't want to look silly so then he said that he meant what is the good burger to order there. Anyway, it wasn't his fault that he had never seen a hardees before or knew what they serve, but I still find the story funny. Asking if there are any hamburgers at Hardees, lol.

I thought it would be fun to do one of those "you know you're....when...." kind of things. I'll start with a few

You know you're in a MENA relationship when.....

...you have recipes you can't read

...your kids start saying bismillah

...breakfast is a hot egg, beans, bread, and cheese

...unrefrigerated eggs from the supermarket no longer scare you

...the black flies covering the produce you know you will be eating no longer goons you

...when you look at him sporting around the house in his galabya (which he would never wear outside) and think he's the hottest thing you've ever laid eyes on

...when you really want something on the honey-do list done, so you whip out the *hand on hip* "There can be no Insh'Allah for this!" tactic

I've got a million of these...

That one got me too, lol

- The random security checks at the airport no longer suprise you, though they don't seem so random whistling.gif

Well, Im hoping the price of a real tree isnt too expensive bcz I really would like that! Im even going to decorate the outside balcony patio of our apartment for christmas too. Im excited!

Its not that expensive to nueter him. Call around and you will get different prices from each vet. Male cats are cheaper since it is less invasive. You could possibly get it done for $60 though I'm not familiar with your local cost of living. I lived in California for awhile and even there it wasn't more than $85 if I recall correctly for a male cat.

QUOTE (TamaraLovesAdam @ Nov 18 2008, 11:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Ok my question for you S & S is this, Im having a real hard time deciding on what to do about a tree since we have 2 cats, one naughty and one nice smile.gif I dont know if we should get a real tree or an artificial one. I *want real but we are afraid the naughty male cat may pee on it, around it or near it just bcz of the smell of a real tree. I dont really want an artificial tree of course bcz I like the real thing and I dont have alot of room to store it afterwards. Since you have a cat too, what do you think the chances are of making a mess out of a real tree?

I've had cats my whole life (males and females) and dealth with them during Christmas time so yeah, I know the difficulties you may face, lol. My first question is if your male cat is neutered and if so was it done when he was young or older. The reason for this is that male cats that are nuetered at a young age tend to not pee in the house. Once they are older the habit has already been formed so they may still do it even after being nuetered. I've never had a cat pee on a Christmas tree before though so you should be safe there. The two biggest problems you will face is their attempt to climb the tree and attack the decorations. The answer to the tree climbing problem is to face the fact you can't stop them all the time. Find the most sturdy tree stand possible and a real tree is fine as it is heavier and sturdier as well and less likely to be knocked over if you secure it well. As for the decorations. They best thing you can do is keep most of them on the higher branches. The lights they shouldn't bother so you can spread them all over. If you do chose a real tree (which are my favorite too) then also be prepared for them to drink the tree's water so you will have to add it more often, lol. These are my basic suggestions, if I think of more I'll let you know.

As an edit- Fake snow with cats........... bad idea! lol

My husband and I are still working that out. I still have my old Christmas decorations that I haven't used in years from when I was Christian. I thought of throwing them out, but it was my husband who stopped me. Though his parents didn't do it, he does have some family who put up a Christmas tree in their homes (yes, in Iraq and they are muslim). I'll have to wait and see if I do it this year as my husband will probably not be here, but my father is here and may want one.
