I really don't know as there isn't much that can be sped up at NVC. It already goes about as fast as it can. Now getting a quick embassy interview would be important for you. I hope that things work out for you.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWant to delay the process?
The lawyers definitely slowed me down. I sent them all the paperwork and it took them two months to send it to USCIS. Not only that, they never gave clear directions for what they needed so I got delayed before that because I didn't know they needed things until I was calling them and asking the status of getting my case sent off. They often didn't even respond to emails for a couple days either and were rude on the phone at times. Definitely not worth it.

To make matters worse, they delayed sending the K3 off for several weeks so it was too late by the time they did get around to sending it. Never again will I use a lawyer for immigration purposes.

I had problems with my husband's name because of his passport, long story, but the name on all other documents was different except the passport. They said his visa must match the passport name so he had to get another passport with the correct name. I think your wife will have to do the same because the visa must match her passport.

My wife's passport carry's her maiden name. NVC changed my wife's last name (from mine) to match her passport. So based on what your saying, I am assuming they changed the name so that the passport matches the visa even though she carry's my name now. Which then sounds like I have no problem. Am I wrong?

This process is so burdensome.

You don't have a problem in the sense that the visa will work fine, but it will mean all her paperwork will be in her maiden name. Is there any way she can get a new passport showing she has your name now? Otherwise you will have to change her name after she gets here.

I don't have the form right in front of me but at the bottom of all the boxes you put those numbers in there should be two colums. The first column should be a "1" and the second column a "2" as you should have that first 1 in the column on the left side at the beginning. I know it sounds confusing as I don't have a better way to describe it.

Ok a little confused on the the I-864 form. Its about section 21 (household size) under A it asks enter number from line 10 which is 1 then after that it says Persons NOT sponsored in this affidavit: line B enter 1 for yourself... line C If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse. So that make no sence cause my spouse is who i am sponsoring and if i add all the lines together that makes my household size 3 and my household size is only 2.So all that makes me wonder if i am going to need this form thx in advance....

I got confused about that too, but I sent mine in and had no problems. You do have to send the form in. Put a 1 under A. Then put 1 for yourself and 1 for your spouse. Then when you add it up you will have a 1 in the first box and a 2 in the second box. Don't ask me why it is so confusing but that is what I did and it was accepted just fine. I posted this topic before and someone else told me it was fine so others have done it as well.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC Call Center
My husband's case was completed October 30th and we still don't have an appointment either. The weird thing is they keep saying the have already scheduled all the embassy appointments for November and I should call next week to see if I got in for December. I keep thinking to myself that they already started the scheduling for December and pointed that out and she still just said call back next week and that they can't be sure when I will be given an interview. I plan on calling again tommorow night. I know it could be a couple more months before the schedule the interview but it makes me feel better to keep calling. There is no one else waiting on an interview for the US embassy in Jordan right now so I can't compare and see what is going on. I just know others from before had to wait 4 months to get their interviews after case complete.

This last week has been really hard. We know this month we are married 18 months and it has been more than a year since I could visit last and that was only for 8 days. Our case was complete at the end of October but we still have no interview date. It has been so depressing watching others get theirs. The embassy he will use is very backed up and appointments could take 4 months or more. My husband is desperate and sad. I can't be sad in front of him because it just upsets him more. We have no idea when this will end. It also doesn't help that most most guys from the middle east get AP for months after the embassy interview and we haven't even got to that point yet. We could be married more than two years before this is all over. I wish to God there was a way to make things go faster. I wish they would have some mercy on us.

I keep a journal and write in it whenever I have time. I talk about the visa process and how things are between me and my husband. I write about how much I miss him and things he says or does for me. I try to write down those things so I will not forget them later. This way, when things may get difficult after he is here, I can look back and see how much I faced. It also helps a little to relieve the stress of waiting. At least I am recording our memories in a way in a cute little journal.

yes, I was talking about dish network. They charged me $100 last time, but this time they said they would do it for free if I sign up for two years service (I keep fighting the contract as I don't want to commit and then be obligated should I need to get rid of the service).

You know i am all about the quick rip off band aid then the slow pull too. It seems to be harder on my husband these days its like we are taking turns i've been sick lately and he is just at his end he is done and ready to "come home" I am ready to have him so what i've been doing is shopping for clothes for him when he is here, getting the Arabic channel ready to go on tv, cleaning out the closets... anything to do with extra energy and moving forward.

not sure if that will help you but it does me.... and VJ of course

lol, glad I'm not the only one thinking that way! Getting ready for my husband always cheers me up. Earlier this year I bought him some summer clothes thinking he would be here by then, of course that didn't happen so now I'm debating winter clothes. I kept closet space open for him this whole time and now I'm moving so it never got used. On a bright note the new house will have a lot more room and I can make things even more comfy for him. That cheers me up and moving will keep me busy. My time on VJ is going to be a lot less starting Monday as that is when I get the keys though the big moving will not come until Saturday. During the week I want to move a lot of little things like curtains and pictures on the walls along with kitchen items and clothes I don't need for the week that can be hung in the closet. All of which are probably better to move in the car anyway and will not require as much packing material. Also, this way there is a lot less to deal with once I do the big furniture moving with the Uhaul truck.

I keep debating the arabic channels as I had them once before and it cost me $100 to put up the extra satellite and there was the $35 fee a month for the channels. I want to wait until he is close to coming though I can always watch the channels myself (I'm just being cheap, lol).

We have been waiting, apart, for 856 days, not that I'm counting. That's 2 years and almost 5 months since I've seen my husband. Like S and S, we each have our good and bad days. It doesn't get any easier the longer it is and we always hold out hope that one day soon we'll finally be together. But neither of us will give up, even if I have to move there.

Its people like you who keep me inspired. I just want you to know that. This waiting is definitely one of the hardest things I've ever done. I'll keep you in my prayers as I know it must be tough for you after all this time.

Thank you, S and S! I'm glad I can inspire instead of worry folks. I wouldn't wish this on anyone, but it's made us so strong in our relationship. When it's meant to be.....you wait forever if you have to. Thanks for the prayers. You are in mine too. rose.gif rose.gif

Totally agreed about the waiting and meant to be. Also, I wouldn't wish this waiting on anyone. I saw one of those shows where they display old torture devices and how they are used. I keep wondering if I would prefer one of those for 5 minutes as apposed to this more than a year of waiting. Oh well, I certainly know far more about my husband than I did a year ago. I try to see the bright side of things as things can always be worse. It just gets hard after awhile.

C'lations. This is awesome and short processing for you. You and Mater Rajaa should have add the two processing times and split tem in half to get two nice numbers.

Depends on which part of the processing you are talking about, I've been at NVC since February.

My bad, I didn't look at the whole timeline and just your sig.
I thought NVC got your case in Sept.

That is long!!!!

Master Rajaa, what if you split your timeline devil.gif

I had several problems stopping me from going further in NVC. One was my husband didn't have the right passport the US accepts and it took the Iraqi embassy 7 months to get him a new one. The second thing was he became eligible for refugee to the United States, but he had to keep his original documents with him to bring to the refugee processing over the summer. The third was trying to change the consulate from Damascus to Amman. Unfortunately with the refugee, he is stuck in the background checks so we decided to just keep going forward with the CR1. Now I wonder if it was worth it to try the refugee, but it is a luck issue. Some refugees get processed in 3 months, others in one year. He didn't get lucky. Now I just have to hope for a speedy CR1 though the refugee approval could come at any time from next week to next summer.

I think i am leaning towards a year... i don't know can't think this early

lol, I hate decisions like that. They made me sign a year lease for my house because they don't do 6 month leases. Problem is that if my husband isn't here by the summer than I plan to go there. Makes that harder though I guess if your willing to pay the fees you can break the lease.

Today was clean the old apartment day, lol. Tommorow I do the move out inspection and turn in the key. As for the new house, I still have a lot of unpacking to do, but the kitchen is done and the bathroom. I got all the clothes unpacked last weekend, but nothing else. Now its time for all the little stuff to come out and the positioning of decorations and the actual useful stuff. I did have to dig through 5 boxes to find my heating pad as all the heavy lifting really took a toll on my back. I must thank God for that heating pad as it made a world of difference on my level of pain.

ohhhh i love the heating pads.. i really should look into getting one again. So usefull in so many ways. Well at least you have something to keep you busy, not that it's fun or anything but it always is kind of exciting starting again in a new place. My rent just went up again.. $40. in a year. I know it's not alot but it still is irriatating mad.gif

I am really hoping this is your day!!! Inshallah they will give you great news that your case is complete and the interview will be scheduled soon.

You are right that moving has made the time pass quickly. Between working full time and moving it is all I can do to just pass out in my bed out night, lol. I am enjoying my new place. I have so much more room than before. The rent is close to the same which is funny. I was paying $615 for a tiny two bedroom apartment and I had to pay $33 a month for a storage because I didn't have room for everything at the apartment. Now I cleared the storage out and put that stuff in the basement of my house so that is one less thing to pay and the rent for the house is $650. Really it equals out, but I have about twice as much room so I can't complain.

That sucks about your rent. I hate that many places want to raise the rent every year. Especially with the economy the way it is right now.
