Thanks again. Now I know how people feel when they are waiting for their SO to go through the embassy interview. This waiting is killing me and I can't find anything to pass the time.

Thanks, the hardest part about going through refugee is there is no forum for it or any place where you can talk to people who have been through it. I try to keep up on it here so if anyone else ever needs this information they can have something to go off of.

My husband just left his apartment a little while ago to his appointment to find out if he was approved for refugee. After all this process and appointments, physical, and everything else I am just praying it will be fine. I am fairly sure he will be approved. I even got a call from the local office here saying they got his paperwork, but then they made us wait nearly three weeks to get the actual approval/disapproval documents. Anyway, I'm just killing time until he calls me to let me know how it goes. wacko.gif

did i read it right on that website link? that vinegar goes thru the same beginning process as alcohol?! ohmy.gif

lol, I read something like that too. I just found this at the bottom of the page:

<LI>According to legend, in France during the Black Plague, four thieves were able to rob houses of plague victims without being infected themselves. When finally caught, the Judge offered to grant the men their freedom, on the condition that they revealed how they managed to stay healthy. They claimed that a medicine woman sold them a potion, made of garlic soaked in soured red wine. Variants of the recipe, called Four Thieves Vinegar, have been passed down for hundreds of years and are a staple of New Orleans Hoodoo practices.

for those of you that know the restaurant Cicis pizza is... Whenever I would go I would put that vinegar on cucumbers and I just love it! Well, I just got this crazy idea yesterday that I could buy that stuff myself and its so healthy and cheap to eat. So I get to the vinegar aisle and oh my goodness!!! there is sooooooooo many kinds of vinegars to choose from and alot of them have that dark redish/brownish color! So I choose the red wine vinegar and just opened it up and put it on some cucumber slices and its perrrrrrrfect!!! energy.gif but does anyone know why its called Red Wine Vinegar? I dont drink alcohol and it doesnt say it has alcohol in it but I just wonder why it got the name such as that !? Any Ideas?!

Just last week I went to the grocery store to get some vineger for vegetables and got confused by the many types. I wish I could help you, but I don't know if there is a better kind to use or what.

I'm back after managing a few hours sleep. Wow, Olivia you are still going strong! That is really interesting about your family history. With my family it is a mess. My mother's family just knows they have some Swedish in them and some kind of indian (like they couldn't be bothered to find out which kind). My father's family has numerous eurpean backgrounds though I am a quarter czeck. You would think I would be paste white, but I actually keep a good tan with a hint of olive from my mother's side. I constantly get mistaken for Israeli which is ironic, lol. There isn't a drop of Jewish blood in me that I've been able to find. Then again my father's mother was adopted and never did find out where she came from.

S and S-- my cats at home wre like that because my mom fed them in the morning. When I got my own cats, I decided to have a gravity feeder, feed only dry, and not have a feeding time. Mine have better teeth for it and none of that waking me up stuff!!

My cat hates dry food. I put it out anyway and when she gets desperate she will eat a couple bites to get by, but thats it. She is still young so I want to slowly cut back on her canned food as she gets closer to a year old. We will see how that goes, lol. As it is, she is eyeing my chicken wings that I'm eating now.

As for her waking me up, I just look at it as practice for when I have kids. Only difference is I can't "throw" the kids off the bed. Kids tend to not land on their feet so easily, lol. Another thing she does is wake me up in the middle of the night meowing non stop, then she walks on me and drops her favorite toy on me and actually expects to play fetch in the middle of the night! I try to get her back by waking her up all the time when she takes a nap.

Wow now that is a story.

My engagement to Jason had unraveled and I was grieving for several months. I had a Norweigan friend, Richard, in Scotland who said if I was looking to get out of the country for awhile I could house sit for him while he went to Zimbabwa on assignment for 6 months. He was a computer programmer and he was being offered better money to work there. He was also the father to three kids of my college friend, Ingvill, also a Norwegian.

When I arrived in London we traveled around for a bit seeing sites until we drove to Scotland. Shortly afterwards he said the job in Zimbabwa was too dangerous because of the civil war and he decided to stay so there was no house sitting job but that he'd like for me to stay as long as I liked. He had other intentions of making me a live in girl friend or something.

We went to Norway for a month to visit with Ingvill and the kids, ThorDaniel (their oldest), and Bror & Brage (the twins). We even meet Richards family for their Easter and saw the family farm. I knew Ingvill way better than Richard and at the time she was telling me all these awful things he did to her while they were together and I was uncomfortable with the situation from both sides feeling in the middle. I had left my stuff in Scotland but made the decision to go back to the US per Ingvill's persuasion. My departure was from Kristiansand. So I had to sacrifice my stuff that was left in Scotland because to travel back there from Norway roundtrip on short notice was as expensive as traveling back to the US.

Richard said he sent my stuff but it never arrived. I didn't know where it was and eventually I gave up waiting for it. Maybe someday it will be like those lost items that shows up at your door 40 years later.

morning tenderheart.

Ohhh! that's kind of rotten of him though to have those intentions when you didn't. I think you did the right thing. You can always get more shoes smile.gif Where in Scotland did you live?

Hi Tenderheart!

In Aberdour in the Fife Kingdom which is this little village of about 500 ppl. It's a 20 minute rail ride from Edinburgh, Scotland where the castle is and the Scotland crown jewels. It was a fairy tale land there. We had a flat on the 4th hole of a golf course over looking the North Sea. It was lovely.

Wow, at least you got to see some nice things when you went. I want to go there someday. I just have to convince my husband of that, lol. I also used to have this dream of getting married at gretna green. Maybe we could renew our vows there.

LOL! She is a foot-player. I had one, Ptolemy... he would get really rough though and bite your feet until they bled. I fixed that, really quick and now he self-monitors and I;ve never had another problem.

Thankfully she doesn't bite that hard. She can really drive me crazy in the morning because she knows I feed her as soon as I get up. If it is the weekend and I sleep in she will start laying on me and purring as loud as possible. Sometimes she even walks on me until I wake up. Usually I shove her off the bed a couple times and she gives up. I swear this cat lays in my room all night after I go to bed just waiting until I get up and go feed her. It really annoys her on nights like tonight and I stay up late. She knows that means a late breakfast, lol.

The only thing is the plastic comes out all crumpled at first because it's not like cloth. I don't put it in the dryer for obvious reasons. After a few showers the crumple goes down but it doesn't go back to that slick flat package fold like before.

There was a poll right here on VJ, the results showed women prefer their man to be circumcised. Yet, male circumcision is equivalent to type I or II of female circumcision.
Stop both female AND male circumcision! good.gif

No offense but the plumbing is different. Male plumbing hangs on the outside and they are circumcised for cleanliness. Females plumbing is internal and it is known that the ####### minora and ####### majora are there to protect the vaginal opening & ####### from getting bacterias & ect inside it. They are anatomically designed to protect the vital procreation organs. The structure of the internal organs in this part of the female region is an incubator for bacteria, ect. It's warm, dark, and moist. Cutting off the male foreskin for cleanliness makes logical sense seeing that anatomically the ####### inserts and introduces foreign partials into the #######. Thus cleanliness becomes important for procreation. Whereas the cutting of the female parts does far worse damage to the females internal and external organs then it does to the minds perceived virtue.

Great point. I was thinking the same thing. In fact, my husband who is a doctor pointed this out to me about risk of infection in women if their partner is not circumsized. Yet he says there is rarely a reason for women to be circumsized and you wouldn't really call it that. A small number of women are born with too much skin which makes intercourse painful for them. In this case they have a small amount of that excess skin removed. They don't have vital parts removed though.

Middle East and North AfricaEgypt votes to outlaw female circumcision
In many cases I have read about, it is the mothers who insist on having it done to the daughters. It is rarely discussed among men because of the nature of it. I read a trilogy about a princess in Saudi Arabia whose mother and older sisters had the procedure done. Thankfully someone told her mother how unnecessary and dangerous it was so this princess never had it done. Later when this princess was visiting in Egypt she was asked to intercede on a woman about to be circumsized against her will. The princess spent an hour telling the Egyptian mother of the dangers of it, but in the end the mother forced her daughter to get the procedure. I believe her daughter was in her late teenage years. It was horrible.

I also read of cases where women insist on being nearly closed up after they give birth to each child. They do it to themselves believing it is in their best interest!!! I think it will take time and education to change people's ways in this regard. It just makes me sad to think of those girls suffering needlessly. God save them from the pain and infection.

This one is kind of funny, kind of embarassing. He was really hungry, eating alot... I said something that was a reflex from childhood "you're a pig!" NOOOOOT the thing to say to a Muslim. Good thing he has a sense of humor......

Thanks Henia, I appreciate your kind words. You also make some wonderful points. For me, just being with my husband and having enough of what we need will make me happy. I thank God everyday for what I have. So many others are suffering right now. I felt horrible when I did visit my husband's family in Jordan and some of his other family in Syria. They are trying to survive on their savings just to keep their family safe and away from the dangers in Iraq. I heard the things they are going through and wish I could have helped. They don't have a good opinion of our president, but when I explained the American health care system to them they actually felt sorry for Americans, lol.
