The show is about a disease that comes accross the world and kills everyone above the age of innocence (around 12 years old). Then all the kids grow up and the show is based 15 years after the disease stopped so most of the kids are adults now. They have technology around them, but none of them were old enough to know how it all works so it become kind of tribal. They have the weapons, clothes made from before factories shut down, food processed from before, but it is mostly running out. Different groups become powerful, some good, some bad. The main characters are, of course, part of a good group that sets out to put more law and order and freedom. Anyway, it is an interesting concept.

So, it sounds a lot like Lord of the Flies in a way.

I never watched that one.

Julianna, why is it when I shut my bedroom door to go to sleep that my 5 month old cat has to scream and cry at the top of his little lungs? Is his feelings really hurt? Does he miss me that much??? He has plenty of food, water, and I already pet him good night... why does he feel the need to cry for about 5 minutes outloud!? I dont get it! unsure.gif

He is probably scared a bit and wants to be with you. They are nocturnal, so that's his most awake time. Eventually he will get used to the pattern, but that's it. he wants you to come and get him.

Yeah- we are getting a 4th female companion Japan - the more the merrier, great idea S & S!

UUGGHHH! VJ was so slow there for a while, i couldn't reply!

I used to get this magazine, Kimono Hime, because I loved the pics! I want to go to Japan for Hanami (the cherry blossom watching). That looks awesome.

OK, now S&S is on board with this wing of the trip. She can be the other half of the security detail. You and Olivia can scout for great restaurants.

LOL Charles is going to log on and find we've planned a whole trip without him or his consent. Doesn't matter, we don't need it. We've hired ourselves.

Good idea with the taekwando - someone has to have out back, you will then be in charge of security detail, I got the husky build for the job and you will have the skills to share - Nessa has nothing to worry about, Charles will be well protected during his foreign travels and you are making an excellent point of us being vigilant that he has all the bases covered when it comes to keeping his wife happy

I do agree about Japan - fascinating culture, history and cusine...

I am great with scheduling. This will work out well... also yes, I can be on security detail. I am always the one people least expect to cause problems and am often overlooked. great for being sneaky and secret.

I can speak some conversational Japanese and can read limited kanji, so we can just schedule a side-trip.

ETA, S & S can be our liason in Japan.

I have my name changed by the social security office and on my driver's license, but I didn't do anything with my state. This is why I'm lost as to what to do.

Then I'd say the SS office.

Here is the thing. I am doing the form DS-82 to request a new passport with my new name change. It wants the date of the name change and the location. I looked at another form where I could just amend my passport and it asks only for date of marriage and husband's full name. Unless you just legally changed your name and then it asks for location. I'm so confused, lol. I can't do the amendment because I have to just get a whole new passport for complicated reasons.

If I remember right, cause it's been 2 years ago, I did the SSN first, then drivers license, then sent a copy of both with my passport change. The SSN office is the one that sees your marriage license, at least for me, and once that is changed...... I believe I put the place of change as where I got married. But again, it was a while ago.

I have to change the name on my passport as all my IDs and credit cards are now with my husband's last name. I started to fill out the application and it requires I put the place of the name change. I don't know if I should put where I got married or the social security office or what. Please help for those of you who have done this before. Also, can I put the hyphen in my name since you know arab last names often have this?

You can put the hyphen but be sure that's the way your husband wants to transliterate his name-- just for consistency's sake.

Did you register your marriage with your state? If so, I would think that is the place of your name change. You got married overseas and they don't automatically change the name, so unless it's in your contract, i would say the name change took place over here. Marriage is a freebee name change for us girls (instead of paying to legally have it changed), so it somes with the registration of the marriage.

How is everyone's SO's holding up?

Things have been so tense between my husband and I. It seems like they are dragging out his process. All we are waiting on is his final approval (which is the big phone call) and booking the ticket. Somedays we are so disappointed that they don't call it spills over into our moods and we take it out on each other. Its hard because many refugees before him got the call much sooner, but lately they have slowed down on the calls for approval. Its killing us not knowing.

Sometimes I think we should have continued the visa process for him coming as a spouse. He would have done his embassy interview a couple months ago, but I am sure the security checks would have slowed him down like the other women with Iraqi spouses. It really bothers me when I see how fast the Iraqi women get their visas compared to the Iraqi men, though I know it shouldn't. Its just the way things are.

{{HUG}} I'm praying he gets that phone call SOOO soon smile.gif rose.gif

Thanks you guys. It really makes me feel better to know there are people who are out there who care. I know I spend part of my prayers praying for people on VJ, lol. Its great we can have such a close group here.

Now, the new test is to see which pushes my patience more, this internet connection or my husband's visa, lol.

The VISA for sure! Grrr!!! headbonk.gif

lol, your right, visa for sure.

On a bright note I am making the Okra soup they make in the middle east, also called red soup. I've made it a few times, but I think from taste testing that this will be my best yet. I hate trying to make things I've never seen cooked and hardly ever eaten, but this is my husband's favorite so I really trying to perfect it.

Its a lot of hard work. I think you have to really want it. Today I was watching an interview on youtube with Shawn Johnson (top all around gymnast in the world for the US). She was saying that she only practices 4 hours a day, 6 days a week. I couldn't believe it since I know most top gymnasts spend considerably more time in the gym. That is real talent! I am curious to see how she does at the olympics.

Check this video of her out at the olympic trials. She is amazing.

You have to train them early, lol. Maybe your husband has the right idea.

They played men's gymnastics earlier today. Unfortunately China and Japan are really great so I don't know that our male gymnasts can hold up against them. The women's gymastics competition starts tommorow. I am really looking forward to that!

Nawal!!!!! I miss our late night conversations and starting trouble too. This internet is driving me crazy. I just only get a short burst of signal every couple minutes. I watch the lights on the wireless router for it to come on just so I can post any message, but after awhile I lose patience for the whole thing. There is supposed to be some security updates with my service provider so I'm thinking they are doing them at night and slowing down the service. I hope this ends soon.

Good morning MENA! I've missed you guys for the last couple days. My internet has been going down a little before 8pm and doesn't come back up until 6am! I can occassionally get a few seconds of connection, but its not worth sitting here waiting for it. It tried the first few nights of this week and got tired of it. I don't get home from work until 5:30pm so what little time I have before it cuts off goes to talking to my husband. I felt like I was having withrdrawls from VJ, lol. Thank God its the weekend so I can use the internet during the day.

Glad to hear your ears are getting better Olivia.

Has anyone ever put a disclaimer in their work emails that basically says that you are fasting from 5am until 7pm so please excuse any unusual abruptness in this message?

unsure.gif

It depends on how multicutural they are. If they are rednecks I doubt your ramadan disclaimer will make a dent LOL

so only rednecks are not multiculteral? huh.gif

multicultural on beer maybe whistling.gif

headbonk.gif more stereotyping!

smile.gif I would never do that!

well.... when it is offically over "girl time" like sometimes the whole "spotting thing" can last a day or two longer.. (sorry men if there are any here) and I usually wait 7 days cause of what i've read....is that right?

I have read that if it is red then you can't pray. If it is brown then that is different somehow and you can do ghusul and pray.

That's what I read too... but somewhere it was if it is past 7 days to go pray... I don't know why 7 is in my head but it's been only 5 but I miss my prayer so much....

Rajaa

Yes, I read the 7 days if for some reason it goes past that then you can pray. Yet the also say you only worry about the red stuff, not the brown regardless of if it has been 7 days or not. Just do what you think is right. It is your intentions that counts too.

Have I told you how awesome you are today!!!! thanks star_smile.gif

No problem. I enjoy our islamic discussions biggrin.gif
