Congrats on the weddings and reunions.

I got told off by the police today for jaywalking. Obviously, I am menace to society.

And I thought I was bad...I had a lady comment that I started the queue for the registers at CVS pharmacy "too far up." I told her I could start the queue any place I pleased since at the time I was the only person waiting for a register.

renegades!

We'll let anybody into the UK forum these days....I think we need to be a bit more selective about membership going forward tongue.gif

I used to like jaywalking biggrin.gif That changed last week when they rushed this lady into the hospital I was at. She was jaywalking cuz she considered it safer than the crosswalk. She even looked both ways. Sadly there was a car going the wrong way in one way street and he didn´t see her, she didn´t see him (she was behind a van or something) and it hit her. And the car was going reeeally slow cuz the driver already knew he was going the wrong way and was just looking for an exit or some parking lot (luckily the cars going the right way stopped cuz of him). Despite the slow speed, she still flew in the air sad.gif So try to be careful blush.gif

I knew I wasn't doing customs till actually in the USA, but I was thinking that I would do it at my final destination.

The Aer Lingus website, that if you have an onward flight booked with airlines they have a baggage agreement with, they check it through. StP, do you know if this was a new thing?

The thing is, that you will have it checked through but you will still have to go through the customs with it and then give it to the guys that stand next to the "transfer belt". Then they transfer it onto the flight for you and therefore you don´t have to go check it in again or something like that smile.gif But it´s a pretty fast procedure, especially if you aren´t standing in looong immigration lines smile.gif So it shouldn´t delay you too much smile.gif

so - I'm finishing work on July 15th yayayyayayay. So happy and relieved.

Now got to book flights, London to Ireland, Ireland to Miami and Miami to LAX. Whooooo hooooo

Incidentally, do any of the LA people know of any short term let apartments? We would like to have a place for the first 2 or 3 months while we get jobs etc sorted out. We figure till we get jobs, we won't really know where we want to live in the longer term. I've found these people but they're pretty expensive, and don't have loads of availability. Anyone got any good recommendations.

You are finishing earlier than I thought you would biggrin.gif Good for you biggrin.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif I´m sorry I don´t know much about the apartments but if you can´t find anything, you can try the Extended Stay hotel chain (I think that´s what it´s called). When you stay for an extended period of time you can get some pretty good bargains smile.gif

I am having one of those periodic VJ freakouts. They go a little like this:

Someone asks a London-specific question. Like, "What questions do they ask at the interview in London?" or "How many hours early should I show up for the interview in London?" or "What's the courier fee in London?"

Operative words: IN LONDON, people!!!

But....in PRAGUE....it´s different biggrin.gif

On a whole, I found if anything is labeled "bridal" the cost goes up quite a bit just because of that. I don't want to wear a veil or a tiara, so I was looking at headbands. I went into one bridal store and found some cute ones...but they were all well over $100! To me they were maybe slightly better in quality than something you would get from Claire's. Same with shoes...I ended up just getting some nice flats from Payless for $18.

Yes smile.gif When they hear "bridal" they say it´s $1.000 more for some reason, whatever it is tongue.gif Pick whatever you want from somewhere and don´t ever mention you are getting married biggrin.gif You will save lotsa dollars that way smile.gif

I got my hairpiece from Claire's - it was lovely smile.gif It only cost about £2 but I refused to pay the ridiculous prices of "bridal" stuff.

By the way, when did everyone fix their wedding dates? I know that the best thing to do is to wait to book anywhere until your visa is in hand, but I'm worried about giving guests enough notice. Anyone book a date before having their visa in hand? I have my NoA2 and would like to fix a date in late December.

We told everyone like 6 months ahead but didn´t book anything until we had the visa in hand and told everyone not to arrange anything either until we tell them to do so tongue.gif It worked out very well smile.gif Got visa in Dec and got married in Jan smile.gif
