Hello, who doesn't know Russian. I have question. People who already sent docs to the embassy about permanent green card prabably will be able to answer this question. What about timeline? I heard it became 6-7 months for California. Maybe somebody knows something about it? Thank you for future answer.

Yes california is running 5 to 6 months or more and Vermont couple months slower. But you get a 1 year extension letter in case you need to travel, or need for work.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusRules for Ukraine
Only new thing I have seen is that all birth certificates, and passports are required since Feb to be in Ukranian language. But just at renewal time. So beware of red flag.

jimnlenaMaleUkraine2012-08-05 10:30:00
Russia, Ukraine and BelarusDid you buy a ticket for you and/or your S/O in advance?
Yes I forget how she puts it something about "energy and universe"

I'm surprised anyone's RUB wife let them buy the ticket early. "You must not make ticket because I will be go interview first."

jimnlenaMaleUkraine2012-08-18 09:17:00
Russia, Ukraine and BelarusDid you buy a ticket for you and/or your S/O in advance?
Our approval was months ahead of when we were expecting so we waited a month or so after visa approval to buy tickets, as she was going to wait until after christmas to come anyway. Of course as a side note we would really like that quickness now as we try to get her daughter here in time for start of school year

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusSole Custody
It is not the cost so much as the futility, unless he is in jail you will NOT GET sole custody!! I can relate! It has taken almost 2 years but he finally consented, thus the timeline.

Does anyone know how difficult is it to obtain a sole custody in Ukraine? My fiancee has a son and the biological father doesn't care, but he doesn't like his ex wife. Getting him to sign a release will most likely not be possible. I heard that getting sole custody in Ukraine is almost impossible. The baby was born just few months ago, so he had no time to neglect his son yet, but he has not seen him once. Did anyone went through something like that?

Russia, Ukraine and Belarusinterview time line

It is August 21 and you have no NOA2. I will say it if no one else will. There is no possible way in hell you will get an interview before mid October at this time and that is if the NOA2 comes tomorrow. Given current timelines I doubt she will be here for Christmas (Orthodox Christmas) and I will leave it to someone else to blow sunshine up your @ss. Figure 2 months, NOA2 to interview. Could be longer. AP at NVC could tie you up for 4-8 weeks alone. For us it was three months NOA2 to Interview and that was with NO delays. If you want to visit, then go visit and have fun. Do not attempt to make a plan to attend an interview until you have the interview date.

No matter what some moron lawyer told you, there is no way to guess at this stuff.

Also it is possible to have AP after interview, 1 couple few months back got tied up for 4 months by AP after her interview! Do not make any plans till you have visa in hand!

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusWife's interview
I imagine it is a slight help to be there for interview. I did not go and lena had no problems. As long as paper work is in order there should be no problems! If money is somewhat tight probably better hold back, as there are many expense's comming up after she arrives!! "I think cheapest part of process was the visa approval!"
Good Luck!!

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusInterview in Kiev
Good Luck!! Everything should be ok!! :ot: Though I thought you had approval ahead of us?? Why was interview so far out?? :ot2: Anyway make sure they have original birth certificates! Seems interviewer's are requesting them all the time. Also they wanted original permission info from father if you are required to have! Again not to worry interview is usually the easiest part!!!

From the new site:

Fee Payment Options

Cash at Bank

Any nonimmigrant visa applicant can pay their visa application fee in cash at any Raiffeisen Bank Aval (RBA) branch. The fee is payable in Ukrainian LCY. Before going to an RBA location, you must print the applicable U.S. visa application deposit slip available below on this page. Take the printed deposit slip with you to pay your fee.

Once you have printed out your receipt you need to complete the following sections by hand
Full name of applicant
Amount in words – (this must match the amount in figures)
Applicant Date of Birth
Applicant Permanent address
Applicant contact number
Date of request
Applicant signature

If you print a deposit slip in advance of the day in which you plan to make your payment, please take note of the expiration date on the deposit slip. If the expiration date passes prior to using the slip to make your payment, simply return to this site and re-click the appropriate link below to generate a new deposit slip. Fee collection agents will NOT accept payments based on expired deposit slips. Upon receiving of your payment, RBA will issue you a receipt. Save your receipt. It cannot be replaced if it is lost. You will not be able to schedule an appointment without your receipt number.

Select the deposit slip that matches your visa application fee from the list below. Values are shown in U.S. dollars. This page has more information about the different visa application fees.

Please note that the deposit slips are not compatible with the iPad and will not load correctly using the default Apple .pdf reader. The slips will load correctly on Apple computers if opened using Adobe Reader. If you cannot open or view the deposit slip, please download and install the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe website. There is no fee to download or use Adobe Reader.

Congrats to your approval, and my step daughters interview was approved today!! Hopefully all will have smooth interviews! :star:

Interview was today and visa approved!

Luckily was able to move interview date up. Will post embassy review later today. But quick comments about the questions. They started the questioning by asking two odd ones: What's something your wife would like to change about herself? If I asked her what would she say? and How do you think you'll adjust to life in the US? Followed by the typical where did you meet, get married, where are her parents from/living, etc.

Also, take copies of what you have submitted, husband got quite a scare from them when they asked for my 2011 tax return (he took copies of everything) and medical exam (he had copies of vaccination record from doctor) when he arrived at embassy. By interview time they had found the medical exam file and said they didn't need the tax returns.

Good luck everyone!
