hi i have a question do they really ask for the appointment letter??? i dont have one yet but my case was forwarded to USEM last dec. 12...

Have a scanned or printed copy of the appointment which was sent to you by the Embassy upon getting an appointment date. They will send you a notice of the Appointment through your e-mail once you set for an appointment date. Good luck on your medical!

It was indeed a very r0ugh day for me. For having less sleep after I got from the airport then drove for an hour and a half to go to Cavite where my uncle lives. It was indeed very tiring day but worth it knowing that I'm a day closer to see my fiance again after I'm done with this and so as the interview. Got up around 5AM and drove from Cavite to Manila by 6:30AM. Only to found out that a there's VERY HEAVY traffic ahead.

Things to bring:
Appointment letter (photocopy)
NOA2 hard copy (original)
N0A2 photocopy
Blank ink pen
Food and water (have your own diskarte na di makita ang food sa loob ng bag.. Hehe)
Passport
Most recent xray film (if you have but not necessary)
Money

Got at SLEC by 9:30AM. My number was 428. Given forms to fill out. Pls don't forget to mention if you are K1 because you'll be filling up an extra form. Kinda look like the DS-156K form. Use blank ink pen. Better not to glue or paste any picture yet. The number being called by that time was 150. There were lots of people inside. I think that there were much people there compared to the people falling in line paying their contributions at SSS. Would you even believe that? Haha! I chose to stay at SLEC and filled up my PDS forms. Didn't ate my lunch yet coz I'm full still. At around 2PM, God listened to my prayers, and my number was called. Number was called for digital photo taking. Then fall in line for the PATIENT RECEPTION who will be checking your forms. They would ask you when was your last X-RAY taken. When done at the Ground Floor, go to 5th floor to pay your medical fee. Mine was 10,240.80 as of Jan. 5, 2009.

After falling in line at the cashier, bring your receipt together with the forms at 3rd floor. Hand your form to the counter before taking as seat as you will wait for nothing. Your name would be called to sign forms. At this point, they'll ask if you brought an old x-ray form if you had an x-ray recently. And made you sign a waiver stating that you didn't bring your old xray film.
CAUTION: MALDITA YUNG BABAE SA COUNTER NG X-RAY. hehe.. Biruin mo naman na sinabihan niya yung katabi ko when we were called to affix our signatures na "HINDI PO YAN TINITITIGAN MAM, PINIPIRMAHAN PO YAN.. " tongue_ss.gif
After signing the forms, sit back again and wait for your name to be called. This time, a girl would let you sign the logbook and let you inside the XRAY changing room. Tie your hair in a ponytail the highest way posible. They would take a poster view of your lungs. Remove your top, bra and accesories including dangling earrings. Put on the gown at the dressing room. Wait for your name to be called inside the X-RAY. Then get changed and return the gown.

Take your forms to the 4th floor for HIV testing and RPR (Pregnancy Test). Submit your forms to the Lab Reception. They will let you sign a HIV consent form. After signing the consent, wait for your name to be called at the Reception then take your forms to the HIV blood extraction room. Fall in line there again. After blood was extracted, you would be asked to fall in line near the Female Restroom at the same floor to have your urinalysis to determine if you are pregnant or not.

When done, wait for your name to be called again at the Lab Reception then take your forms to the 5th floor. I guess this was the longest ever part of the medical. Submit your forms to the US counter reception. Tell them that you haven't had your height and weight taken yet. Wait for your name to be called for the height and weight taking. Then sit back again and wait for your name to be called for the eye exam. Then sit back again and wait for your name to be called for vital signs such as BP, PR and RR. Then sit back again and wiat for name to be called at the US Counter for your P.E. Since it was really take LLLOOOOOOONNNNNGGG for your my name to be called, I decided to eat my lunch and dinner in one at McDo. Time check: 11 PM..

After eating dinner with new found friends Laila (K1) and Alma (CR-1), we went back to SLEC again and surprisingly, our name was not yet called. We patiently waited. At exactly midnight, our names were called to the US Counter for our P.E. When it was my name called to get inside the room, I greeted the doctor Good Evening and she corrected me in a very sarcastic way saying, " ANONG GOOD EVENING? MORNING NA NGAYON." I laughed and greeted her Good Morning again but I didn't really care if she was being sarcastic. I was just being nice knowing of what I read her at VJ that not all of the staff of SLEC is nice. I could really care less. During the interview, speak in a loud voice that you and the physician could hear (para di ka masabon tulad ng sumunod sa akin). After answering her questions, call up the other person next to you for her turn. Then go to the bead, disrobe completely. Then cover yourself with a blant. She would check your breast, throat and genitals. She made me turn sidewards and curled my knees toward my tummy like a C-position or fetal position for her to have a better view of your genitals. Then get changed and take yoiur forms to the US Counter and they instructed me when to get the results and what time. Time check: 1:00 AM..

What a rough and tiring day 1.. Wheew! Need to get my results this afternoon. I know I will pass..hehe laughing.gif

ganun ba katagal, sa medical.. until midnight???

Di ko nga akalain ng dadating ng 1AM ehh.. Probably because of the long holidays. Lahat ng relatives ko, fiance ko at friends ay nag-alala dahil di ako makontak because walang service ang Smart sa loob. May signal pag malapit ka sa window. Wala akong load. Battery empty phone ko. Haha! My fiance even got worried sick kasi tumawag sya sa Jade Vine only to find out I wasn't at my room that time. Hehe.. Pero napanatag naman sila nung nakauwi na ako sa room at nakatext sa kanila..

WOW - 16 hours at the medical center! Is that much time typical?? blink.gif

Actually SLMCEC is open from 7Am-5PM but because of the long holidays, a lot of the staff were forced to do overtime to expedite everything.

PhilippinesSLEC medical exam experience
Thanks sis for posting this!
Can I ask something?
Did they post up a sign that they are still open on Dec 22 and 23?

Kasi I'm planning to have mine done this week kasi naloloka na ako sa dami ng iniisip. Then hindi natuloy dhil ang mhal ng ticket.
Suggest kasi ng fiance ko na same week of my interview ko sa January na kukunin yung medical.
Then I read the embassy website na mas maigi to have the medical a week before the interview.

Hope you could help me out.

PhilippinesSLEC medical experience day 2
Got back at SLEC on Jan 6, 2009 to pick up results and proceed with my immunizations.
My claim stub has an appointment at 2PM but decided to go there earlier which is 12NN since they didn't even put there the time. The staff said before I left the U.S counter last night is that I need to be there by 2PM but he only wrote PM on my claim stub.

Showed my receipt and claim stub at the guard. Then he stamped it IMMUNIZATION 2nd Floor. Right there, I felt so relieved that nothing was wrong with my x-ray. Yipee!

Submitted my receipt and claim stub at the 2nd floor Immunization Counter. Waited for 5 long hours. My name was called around 5 PM for the immunization interview. Would you believe that?! God, I was getting impatient.. mad.gif
Was interviewed as a group by a physician and was asked to sign some forms and was listening with the doctor's instructions and questions at the same time. Always remember the 1st day of your LMP (last menstrual period) and you should not have sexual contact prior to getting your immunizations. Name called around 6 PM at the Check out counter. Was told to prepare two 2x2 pictures with white background and to sign some forms. After that, was told to sit back again and wait for our names to be called for the Immunizations. Name was called at 6:45 PM to the Immunization Room. Was given 3 immunizations which is specified within my age. Got Tdap, MMR and HPV. (HPV is the most painful injection I ever had in my life). sad.gif

After given the shots, was advised to go to the ground floor at the releasing counter for additional instructions. Decided to eat dinner first since some of the people who were ahead of us were still there. Name called around 7:30 PM at the releasing counter. Given last instructions. I only got my immunization form. No X-ray in a CD. Was told to bring my appointment letter, requirements and supporting documents on the day of the interview at the Embassy. That's it..

YIPEE! I passed. I would never come back to SLMCEC anymore. Need to travel again to Bulacan. What a day!! kicking.gif

PhilippinesInterview at USEM
I think it would be fine bringing your husband on the day of the interview for additional support.
What I noticed when I was there for my interview last Friday, Jan 9, 2009 was that fiances/husband are allowed to be with the beneficiary within the premises if they show a valid ID so that they could get inside. Since they really don't have any appointment there but just to be with the beneficiary on her big day. They could be with the beneficiary upon the pre-screening but on the CO interview, they are not allowed to get inside. Only the beneficiaries are allowed to get in the room. I met someone there who brought her fiance with her but he wasn't allowed to get inside during the CO interview.

Hope I had helped... innocent.gif

PhilippinesQuestion po about Medical and Interview
DV is already suspended. Do not pay it anymore. Let him get a CENOMAR instead, it replaces the DV fee.
He doesn't need to have an appointment for the medical.
I guess, going there on Tuesday-Thursday would be okay rather than going on a Monday since its the first working day of the week.
A lot of applicants would be there to have their medical.
Don't let him go there on a Friday since its the last working day of the week. A lot of people would probably try to finish their medical on those days.
Let him bring the necessary requirements needed for the medical and the money.

With the interview, the Embassy advises applicants to be there an hour early for their scheduled appointment. So, coming at the embassy by 7 or 7:30 Am would be enough.

Hope I have helped you...

Good luck to your husband! good.gif

Philippineshow to know if your visa will delivered soon..?
Now that I'm done with my interview and got approved, just wanna ask if anyone could give me an idea what to expect from Delbros delivery..
I mean, what they usually do to notify you that they'll be delivering your visa that day. Since my fiance is coming over to pick me up. We already had plans on him being here for Cebu's most celebrated Mardi Gras every year which is Sinulog (Jan 18) but he'll leave NYC by Jan 16. We haven't booked up airline tickets yet for our departure but I'm worried of him getting to stay in Cebu for long and ruining our plans.

I live in Cebu City though our house is kinda hard to locate kasi nasa liblib na kabukiran e.. hehe.. laughing.gif I usually pick up my packages at our barangay hall since some of the messengers doesn't know where to locate our house. Though I got my NVC letter right our doorstep bako nahilo ang messenger sa kakahanap bahay namin.. laughing.gif

Does anybody here from Cebu City who had their visas already? May I know the time frame from your interview till receiving your visa?

Hope to hear from you my fellow Cebuanas and VJers..!

Hello all!!
I have been reading posts lately about the DS-156 form and I just looked up the forms that I had already filled out.
Does the word BARCODE really have its fine lines with numbers on it or you're fine with just having the box with a BARCODE name on it?

I actually got my forms from our immigration lawyer. I didn't filled it up online or at the Embassy's website.
My question is, is it ok? Is it really necessary for the DS-156 form to have a BARCODE on it or not?

I already had the forms printed out but I don't have a BARCODE in it.. I only have a big box with a word BARCODE type inside the box.

Just confused..

Hope all of you guys could helpsmilie.gif

I would really appreciate it..

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

The barcode assists USEM in processing your files. Throw away the ones your lawyer gave you and follow the info from others and print out new ones online.

Yay! OK.. Will do that.. Haha! Thanks to all who replied..

God bless all of you.. mmwah! biggrin.gif

PhilippinesProof of Visiting
From what I have known, supporting documents maybe faxed or printed copies.
With my experience, I presented all original copies of our receipts from hotel and beach resorts and all of our boarding passes.
My fiance actually hand carried all of it when he went to PI last Sept.
All I know is that you should have an original copy of the I-134 Affidavit of Support if you are in K1.

I attach a pic in this reply in that way you could have a picture on how the windows look like. Under the mic for the interviewees, was the little window that you would slide the evidences through. The black boxes on the sides are speakers. I suggest you put the pictures on a bondpaper rather than putting it on a binder. they would still let you take away from its folders.

Hope I had helped. smile.gif

PhilippinesNo More Delbros as Courier?
QUOTE (amorsiempre @ Jan 11 2009, 11:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My husband just called USem this am and asked some questions re our case and if we could pay the visa delivery fee. He spoke to a guy, who told us to wait a month, and they will let us know when to pay it. My husband asked why it will take a month just to verify a single document.

My husband mentioned also about Delbros verification fee refund. The DV was paid Sept 15 of last yr.He said we can send a fax about the refund. Its weird that when I tried sending a text to Delbros for "another follow up" ( last month) and see what they'd say, I got the same response from them, that my documents was sent to NSO last Sept 15 and it'll take a month to verify them,, so on........and so forth............

If DV has been "dissolved" why they'd reply like that ? As if it still exists? Are they still doing it ?,Could it be why, it'll take a month for them to verify the add'l documents I've submitted last week?

Asking help to those who have made follow ups before they got their visa (after frequent/regular calls to USem). We didnt expect that it was a guy who'd answer the call. I think my husband called the 1900 #.The number that has the locals 5184-5 is the only number to call Grace/Lorraine?

Thank you very much.

I had been sick with Delbros too. When I paid for my visa delivery fee last Friday, I mentioned to the guy that I wanted to get my refund for the DV fee. He then told me to go to the Embassy Pavilion and ask for my refund there. Now when we went there along with a VJ member I met from Davao, I talked to a cashier and said that I wanted to get my refund, I felt better when she asked for our case numbers and names. Only to be devastated that I need to go to the Delbros Main office which is at the Port Area in Manila. Or that I could call their telephone number and ask to get Robi on the line. When I talked to Robi, she said that I need to wait for a message from Delbros saying that I could pick up my refund at the main office. I told that her I will be leaving for Cebu that same day, she said well, you just have to wait. Could you imagine that? mad.gif I guess they don't really plan on giving a refund at all! Screw them! mad.gif

PhilippinesThe irony...
I guess there were lots of Pinays who doesn't know how to swim and that includes ME.. rofl.gif

Reasons:
Maybe because some lived on the cities and doesn't have access to pools and beaches.
Parents are more busy on working that they don't even have time to teach the kids. (which is TRUE since my parents are good swimmers..hehe)
These sport isn't offered in some schools including public schools. Maybe they think that there are much more things to learn in the classroom.
Or maybe they are aquaphobics... hehe laughing.gif

My fiance even had a hard time teaching me since he learned to swim on his own when he was a kid.
So, he thinks its really normal to swim or float and was wondering why I can't even do it... Hehe tongue.gif

PhilippinesBeneficiary's Letter of Intent to Mary?
Based on my USEM experience, I wasn't asked to submit a letter of intent to marry.
But I think that the same words written in the Letter of Intent to marry was written at the DS-156K form where you affix your Fiance's name and affix your signature.
At the bottom part of that DS paper, the CO would affix his/her signature. This is also the part where the CO would let you raise your right hand and to say nothing but the truth.

Hope I had helped.. smile.gif

If you can't get one and your fiance already had his, make a follow-up at the Embassy.
That's what my friend did when she haven't got the NVC letter.

Good luck!

No need to pay the DV fee anymore. It has been suspended by the embassy. Get a CENOMAR instead.

PhilippinesLATE BIRTH REGISTRY

I was late registered too. But I brought my baptismal certificate with me. The pre-screener actually filled up a blue slip form when she saw my BC was late registered. Upon interview with the CO, she let me explained why I was late registered and when did I started schooling. I even showed my original baptismal certificate to her. She took it and said that "I see that you were baptized and your birth certificate was just late registered."

You'll be fine. Better bring your school records, baptismal certicate and Local Civil Registry Record.

Hope I had helped... smile.gif

Hi, there! My interview would be on Friday! my parents took 3 months and 28 days I guess before I was registered in the local civil registry. I was born January and they registed me May , in the year I was born. Would I be consider as late registered ? I hope there won`t be problem with my BC . Thanks!

Better be armed of some documents that could prove your birthday, sis. You would know that you are late registered if your BC is 2 pages. The other page is filled out by any parent of you affirming the late registry. I was registered at 1993 but was born at 1986.

Philippinespacking things to leave for the US
Hello All!

Now that I'm just patiently waiting for my visa to arrive right at our doorstep, I figure out to start packing my things already. In that way, I wouldn't be rushing to pack everything when I get to leave.

So, I just wanna hear the Do's and Don'ts in bringing stuffs..
I'm thinking of bringing along

1)All of my Nursing books (copyrights and photocopies) since I'll be taking my NCLEX on March there
2)My burned CD's of reviews and practice questions
3)Dried fish and bagoong (cover it newspaper and then tin foil) yes.gif
4)2 kilos of mango (a friend of mine said it's fine to bring as long as you'll declare it and pay appropriate tax) unsure.gif
5)Seasonings, (Pinakurat) vinegar
6)fragile religious images

Will all of these get through the airport?

Hope to hear from you..
