FWIW, I was looking at her sisters report card and wondering how in the heck she could fail P.E!!! I knew that something was NOT the same with the grade scale. blush.gif

Thanks! star_smile.gif

She failed P.E. since it is definitely a BORING class. A lot of my classmates tend to cut classes or go absent on this subject.

Philippinesgetting married in PI
Hello ALL!

I was just wondering how things would be when we get married at PI.
I'm already married here but hubby wants to have a wedding way back in Cebu so that my family could attend.
And so that both his family and my family could meet in person.
Now, with the wedding dates, we plan on going there around April.
So, is it gonna be legal? If it is, we would be confused with the dates especially celebrating wedding anniversaries.
Or do I need to report my marriage here first?
So that it would be like a renewal of vows lang?
Can anybody give me any idea on what to do? Do we need to attend seminars and such?

Hope to hear any replies to those who got married here and at PI.
Thank you!

i talked to my OB and had a pap too, she told me different choices, I think I may get the Depo-Provera, an injection shot good for 3 months, but you have to get it during yoru period, otherwise they wont give it to you; it's not good though if you havent been pregnant ever but my OB said if i get it just once it's fine; She then advised to try the patch so I think i may just do that; I don't think I'll do the pill nor rubber. But yeah, just talk to your OB more for what will suit you best smile.gif Some people dont do well with oral contraceptives, some do so it depends on whichever one will suit you best

Naku, I was also thinking of using Depo-Provera.
Though I remembered that my mom used that and was taken to the hospital kasi when she forgot to have the injection again, she started bleeding profusely.
The doctor said that she got lucky to stop it kasi, she was close to be having cervical CA. I dunno if the doctor is trying to scare my mom.
With the patch, I had a friend of mine used it and it didn't work. She got pregnant a month after she started doing the patch.
The OB said that she had too much fat in her kaya di nagwork yung patch sa kanya.

Kaya, as of the mean time, no choice but to use the rubber kami.

Ginisang Baboy with Calabasa
Ingredients :

1 whole acorn squash, sliced and seeded
1 tbsp cooking oil
1/2 lb. pork cut in cubes (also good with chicken)
2 cloves minced garlic
1 chopped red onion
1 tomato, chopped (optional, if you don't really like tomatoes)
2 cups water
2 tbsp patis (fish sauce)
salt and pepper, to taste
chopped scallions for garnishing

Marinate pork with fish sauce and set aside for 30 minutes. Heat pan and add oil. Saute garlic and onions, add the marinaded pork. Cook until slightly brown. Add squash and tomato. Pour water and bring it on a boil. Let it simmer until the squash is tender (or mushy..) Add salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped scallions.

Hubby loves this dish. He always beg me to make this one everytime we ran out of it. Our maid used to make this one back home and she wrote me a little recipe book when I left for the US. Hope you like it!

The school records would be needed if the BC is late registered. But if all of the visa forms, BC, NBI and CENOMAR match, you are all good to go.

PhilippinesI am so SAD!!!
I agree with all the posters here, sis.
Past is past. Forget it and continue a new chapter of life that you guys are starting.
As the saying goes, never let the past ruin your present.
You might be over-reacting with the bag issue. It's only a bag.
It's not easy to buy new stuff and throw away some that are in PERFECT condition. Especially with the US economy right now.
Let both of your minds cool off and put this behind you.
The more you let the past rule your present life, the big mess its gonna create within your marriage.
I hope everything works out.

PhilippinesFlights to Cebu
Try checking www.vayama.com and check the airfares on Wednesday..
Hubby always find cheaper tickets those times.
I agree with lykatodd's idea about buying tickets from US-Manila.
Then let your fiancee book you a round trip flight from Manila-Cebu thru Cebu Pacific.
It's cheaper and you could save some bucks.

Good Luck and have a safe trip!

PhilippinesQuestion about my Transcript of Records...
Me too! I tried having my credentials with red ribbons but hubby told me it's not necessary at all.
They would still let an agency evaluate your credentials if they are equivalent to the US curriculum.
And they would try to get a hold of your schools to have them fill out some forms.
The red ribbons could be just a waste of money.
But it's really up to you.
I had a friend here in PA that is working right now and she didn't had a problem with her transcripts without red ribbons since the employer said it's not necessary.
All they care is that you have an SSN and your valid to work here. blush.gif

Good Luck!

I brought ALL my credentials too just in case my employers would like to see it.
And it will be less hassle for my family in PI to send my credentials to me so that's why I brought it with me.

QUOTE (rockhouse @ Aug 12 2009, 08:50 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Haha, wow. Once again it seems there are 2 different versions. Some say NVC letter and NOA2, others say to bring the embassy the email print-out. I guess i'm back to that plan since there seems to be no consistency to their methods over there at USEM/St. Lukes, and i don't want her to be turned away for lack of the "letter".

When I had my medical, I met a friend who is having her medical done with no INTERVIEW APPOINTMENT LETTER, she only showed her NVC letter and NOA2 copy. She was allowed by the guard to get inside but when she submitted her papers at the lobby for picture taking, the lady was looking for her appointment letter. She was advised that her medical will only be valid for 3 months since she has no interview date yet. And if after by 3 months she don't have her interview yet, the medical will expire and she needs to re-do the whole medical. She still took the risk and had her medical that day. 6 months later, she got her interview date. Luckily, her medical was still valid. Seems like that lady from St. Luke's tried to scare her to not push through the medical because she doesn't have the interview date yet.

Getting agencies that would sponsor her in coming to the US on a work visa are slim, since it's still recession here in the US.

how about in texas?? I've been there and seen all the hospitals, you think she can apply there? she's still in the philippines can they hire my sister directly without using an agency??

Appreciate all you response, Thank you very much redglasses, cezychic,DEDixon.

Getting a working visa to work as a nurse in the US right now is not easy since there are no agencies that would sponsor her to work in the US.
What's in back home is that there are agencies recruiting for nurses for Europe, New Zealand, Canada and Australia.
If there are agencies recruiting nurses for US, don't let your sister be fooled with one.
I have some friends back home who were fooled by a recruiting agency telling them that the recession is not true and US is in fact hiring nurses.
Still up to now, all their working visas are pending.
As of now, US stopped hiring international nurses because of the recession.
Maybe they'll accept nurses after 3-5 years.
It would work if she already passed her NCLEX-RN and be able to be in the US thru a tourist, spousal or fiancee visa.
I think that is her chance as of now.
Having working experience is not really necessary since they orient foreign trained nurses on what to do because the hospital setting here and back home are different.
She needs to be US certified with different life-saving skills like CPR, operating an automated electric defibrillator and so much more.
If she plans to work in Texas, she needs to be licensed in the state of Texas. Check all the requirements that are needed for Texas BON.
I think Texas is participating the Nursing Licensure Compact which means that she can have a multi-state license.
She would be able to work on different states if those states participates on the Nursing Licensure Compact.
Plus, she needs to take a CGFNS exam and an English proficiency test prior to sitting in the NCLEX Exam.
For more info on Texas BON, click this link.. http://www.bne.state.tx.us/
For states that parrticipate on the Nurse Licensure Compact, click this link.. https://www.ncsbn.org/nlc.htm

PhilippinesNurses from the Philippines
Depends on which state she plans on working, sis.
I'm an RN too in PI and still struggling to get a health-care related job here in PA.
I've sent applications to numerous health agencies and nobody called me back yet.
I'm still working on my NCLEX. So, I really need to pass that to be able to work.
If she's an NCLEX passer already, it would be a plus if she's US-certified for Basic Life Support.
If she works on a state that she's not licensed yet, she needs to check the state's BON if they do interstate endorsements or else, she needs to do the NCLEX exam again.
It would be much better if she submit applications on different hospitals or nursing homes rather than getting an agency.
Getting agencies that would sponsor her in coming to the US on a work visa are slim, since it's still recession here in the US.
She may also try putting up a resume on sites like monster.com and careerbuilder.
With the working experience, it would be a plus but it's not really necessary.
Since US hospitals are more advanced when it comes to technology, they usually do orientation for newly hired nurses until they learn how to operate certain medical devices.

Good Luck to your sister!

I don't know how will I answer all her question. just need your opinion guys I know no one of us can tell what will be happen to there case but just some info will be Appreciated.. Thank you for time to read... Happy week end

Is this for REAL?? No lawyer is that stupid! headbonk.gif She'll be denied and probably banned for life. If it's true tell her to cancell out NOW and sue the lawyer!

Yes its real even my self can't believe that they filed for K1, and when I spoke to his husband he really don't understand my point and I feel like he's saying I am scaring her wife, I am just trying to help, I think this couple had no Idea about the visa processing, and I am really fell sorry for them I wish I can do something for them. I don't think I can advice them to cancel there petition, they are both excited about the Approval,..

If the marriage is valid and was registered in the Philippines Marriage Registry, she could definitely be denied. I think they should definitely cancel her K1 application.

I'm wondering why you're giving her money?
She's your fiancee, not your wife.
You don't need to send money for her to spend since you don't pick those on trees.
$300 is too much for a month.
I hope you realize that Filipinos are not REALLY up for the money.
It is the kind of person that you guys gave as an option.
If you keep doing these, she might just marry for the money.

cEzYcHiCFemalePhilippines2009-09-21 16:10:00
PhilippinesIs it too early for her to start getting together her stuff?
Your fiancee may need to have a sputum test done just to rule out any possibilities of having TB.
Having a Chest X-ray would help alleviate stress in the upcoming medical.
Since you need to be free of communicable diseases before arriving in the US.
However, these tests may not be honored by St. Lukes because they still value their own tests.
A lot of cases were pending because of finding scars in the lungs during the medical.
This will also save you some bucks for her to fly to Manila if she's not from there.
Usually it would take up to 3-6 months of waiting for the sputum culture result.

Good Luck!

Philippines***Bible Verses of the Day****
Dear Lord, I thank you for this day.
I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God.
You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me. Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you.
I ask now for Your forgiveness.
Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude.
Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You.
Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things.
Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over.
Let me continue to see sin through God's eyes and acknowledge it as evil.
And when I sin, let me repent, and confess with my mouth my wrongdoing, and receive the forgiveness of God.
And when this world closes in on me, let me remember Jesus' example -- to slip away and find a quiet place to pray. It's the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits. I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart. Continue to use me to do Your will.
Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others.
Keep me strong that I may help the weak.
Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others.
I pray for those who are lost and can't find their way.
I pray for those who are misjudged and misunderstood.
I pray for those who don't know You intimately.
I pray for those who will delete this without sharing it w with others. I pray for those who don't believe.
But I thank you that I believe.
I believe that God changes people and God changes things.
I pray for all my sisters and brothers. For each and every family member in their households.
I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met.
I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God.
Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight.
I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees them and every mouth that confesses them willingly..
This is my prayer.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.
