Happy Tuesday!

Hope it's a good day for everyone.

I feel sooo much better today. I have been under a huge amount of stress due to a job issue. All is good now and I am staying in my desk at my current job. I was being reqruited to a different store and tho it sounded like a good deal, something didn't feel right. I prayed for guidance in my decision. This has been eating at me for almost 3 months. Yesterday, I did what was best, and turned down the new offer.

Sooooooo I need to email Jordan now and see what they want. 2 visa specialists at DOS said that Amman is trying to contact Ibrahim.

This is exceptional news Jackie! I hope it means the waiting is over and he'll be on his way very soon sweetie! Keep us posted for sure!

By the way Happy Tuesday MENA!!! I hope everyone's day gets better! My son has his 8th birthday today, and we're getting ready for pizza for dinner!YIPPIE--Mom doesn't have to cook!

Hubby has been working for about a month, and seems to like it so far,,, he made a friend, who drives him home from work daily. Its pretty cool! Not sure how long this job will last tho- he isn't making very much, but we all know getting a new job is easier when you already have one! We'll see how the drivers lisence thing goes. He's doing pretty good- drives EVERYWHERE we go these days... its pretty crazy at times! I guess all those years of observing other Jordanian nutty drivers rubbed off on him. We get to go pay his first speeding ticket to day when he gets off too!lol! Take care all! Much love!-Amy

Middle East and North AfricaMENA women question for you.
I have been looking for a small version of a watering can since hubby got here- we are renting currently, and so the bidet would not exactly work... we do have a longer moveable hose thinggy from the shower that would reach to the toilet no worries, but I think it scared him on his first attempt! I think I only know of once that he actually used it! As far as a water mess.... OH MY GOSH! yes yes yes! we have water all over the sink board, toilet seat, and floor from one end of the bathroom to the other.. good thing he's at work all day or I'm sure he'd be blaming the kiddos for the wet mess-- rofl.gif In any case, still searching out the mini watering can, using a large mug I brought home from the hospital when I had my first born!----Ohhhhh! by the way- not that i think the bathroom thread is the one to spread the news on .... probably is some kind of bad omen, but we are gonna be back in the hospital with a new arrival the end of November beginning of December!!! so much for waiting to get our feet under us again! lol!---Take care kiddos!Amy

Hey MENA! Hows it hangin?! Things for us are fast and furious... I have one question, and would love it if someone could pass an answer my way... Hubby is here of course, and we are contemplating a trip abroad... We were looking at his greencard... and we/they ommitted one of his names. Does anyone know if his green card has to match names identically with his passport? His visa in his passport is still good until August- I think, and we were just wondering because his Soc. Sec. Card matches, and I'm worried that since he already got his GC with an error, if we try to travel anywhere with a misprinted/wrong gc, we might have issues coming back into the states? Any imput on disa-one? Thanks for your help! much love-Amy

NVC got the last piece of info they need from us, the DS-230, on Friday. Of course they say the usual 2-4 week to process....and so far they have always been much faster than that....so I am praying for a case complete this week and I don't know if we are still in the window to have an April interview or not. NVC says they schedule the interviews the second week of the month. So does that mean we have to wait until the second week of April before they schedule our interview? sad.gif( I hope it comes sooner than that!!! I'm going nuts!!

Unfortunately yes sweetie-- Our status was case complete on December 3rd, 2008 and that was the first week in Dec- I thought for sure we'd get a Jan Interview, but the 2nd week of Dec came and went and I called NVC like EVERY DAY! while they were scheduling... We didn't get an interview date set till the 2nd week in Jan, and then it was more than a month out... So good luck, but keep your chin up--- the journey is almost complete! A couple of months and your habibi will be with you forever! The arrival is the BEST part of this whole journey!--Talk to you soon-Amy

The Dead Sea....I was there and took some beautiful pictures! It was the only place in Jordan I saw a camel.

Ya'll got anything good for breakfast? Pass it down the couch plz.

Hmmm- definately go to Petra-- we saw a ton of camels on the way there---open range camels_-- hubby couldn't figure out why the camel crossing signs had me soo ecstatic, I told him we have signs like that only there is a big COW on it... or a deer or elk-- then he was really confused! LOL!

Having turkey ham with scrambled eggs and khubz.

wanna try? lol

Hey maybe you know Jackie... You know that meat, its kinda the consistancy of bologna, only I know it can't possibly be lips and ash holes! We ate it with breakfast int he family home... and those sweet creamy butterl/cheese type sauces... do you know what any of that is???

In fact now he's hoping to stay in AP til June sad.gif

On a brighter note....we are counting down the days til I fly to Jordan. He asked me today if I want to see Petra or Aqaba...I said....I really want to go to Mecca Mall tongue.gif

Tell him YESSSSS!!! We did both... on our honey moon! Then we did Jerash and UnQais... VERY VERY BEAUTIFUL!

He told me today that his grandfather died lastnight sad.gif so I asked him how they do a funeral??? I have seen three VERY different Muslim weddings(mine included) but have never been involved in a funeral. He got that grin on his face-that smirk, like "I can't believe she doesn't know how to put a body in the ground" and he explained... "we wrap the body, take it to the cemetary and bury it. Then we come home and people come visit to give their regards." I said "Oh! You mean like a wedding!" and he still smirked(I can HEAR IT!) and said, "ahem! Yes sweetie." (with that OH MY GOSH IS THIS WOMAN FOR REAL?! WHAT A TWIT!-tone) LOL! He's sooo cute- even with sad news he manages to be lighthearted when he talks to me! He's really patient with all my questions, and so sweet with his answers... I LOVE THIS MAN! WITH ALL MY HEART!

Hang in there JJ! BUT really go to both They aren't that far apart, Its like 4 hrs to Petra from Amman, and then another 1 1/2-2 or so to Aqaba... There's a back route to take that is WAY faster, and more senic-VERY pretty countryside! AND FREE RANGE CAMELS!

Ok- Well Lisa.... I have been to Jordan twice- Oh and once again lastnight in my dreams! LOL! Umm- twice in four months! It was FANTASTIC both times... I have never felt sooo safe and looked out for! My husband and his many brothers would definately take on the masses to protect me--- It was funny on my second trip there... Went to Egypt...It was amazing, and smelly-sorry kids-I'm a bit snobbish when it comes to smells! ANYWAYS, we decided to save some dinar while we were still in Jordan and waiting for the ship to take us to Egypt. We slept out under the stars in the harbor in Aqaba! My husband and his brother were right there with me EVERY second-minus when I was in the WC! LOL! Then hubby was standing there waiting for me to get done with the morning rituals of potty! LOL!! ANYHOO, I never heard two men cluck sooo much at everyone else! Somone would brush me with their luggage and one or the other of my "body guards" would start that incessant clucking till they made room... what is it with the clucking?!

STAR---I can TOTALLY 100% relate to most family issues... I have a sister still not speaking to me, who calls and when I answer the phone she hangs up! GRRRR! Stay strong and Rest easy-- your time is coming...

And Jackie and Lisa and everyone else sitting on the couch== TECHNICALLY I'M still here! Still no sign of the passport, but I am hopeful it will be soon!

Middle East and North AfricaAnyone consider moving to Morocco
Amera and Prena,

I used to work in a Domestic Violence shelter, and have some training in Art Therapy with children. I have often wondered about doing similar work over there. Right now I'm a real estate appraiser and hate it, it just feels empty and meaningless, but the money is fairly good.
I actually checked into VJ today, as I was searching the internet for possible positions in some sort of NGO that works with women and children in North Africa. Thought if I started planning now I could finish my masters degree in Psych, Social work or Art Therapy by the time my daughter is ready for college.

Middle East and North AfricaAnyone consider moving to Morocco
Ali has been here for about 18 months, and we constantly think of moving back to Algeria or perhaps to Morocco.

The adjustment has not been as easy as I had hoped. Ali went from owning a construction company, he had a lot of respect in his community and in Algiers. Now here he is treated like he is stupid because his English isn't perfect ( it's his 4th language, how many Americans even know another language). He recently decided to give up his job and go back to college, he seems much happier.

We will probably move after my 13 year starts college. I'm just not up to the custody battle that would ensue if I tried to move with her to Algeria or Morocco. Personally I think it would be a wonderful experience for her. Our life here is so crazy and busy. I work about 50 to 60 hours a week and long for a more peaceful life, especially one in which people and family are more important than money, careers and bills.

It could be as simple as the DS-230.. I know when I thought I got all mine in the envelope... Upon the calll to NVC and recieveing the RFE message... I went back thru my packet and saw that the original I-864A for my mom who lives with me, was sitting there- signature in blue and EVERYTHING!!!! --- double check everything you send in!!! Do you think there is a chance that we could still see approval on the K3? I130 was approved 8/11 after 58 days. It is not at NVC yet and I just wonder why the one was approved and not the other. I see many here that get both approved at the same time.

I know every case is different, I am just hoping to see K3 also in case the I130 gets slowed down at NVC.

Do K3 approvals come after sometimes?

We can all sympathize with you, I am sure....I love my husband dearly and on Oct 29 it will be our 1st year wedding anniversary and we will not be together...still. His K3 interview date is for Nov 3...so with any luck he will be here by Thanksgiving. There is no sympathy from USCIS or NVC...they hear this all the time and like you said...no one person missing a spouse is more important than the other. I am desperate for my husband at this time...and am so glad this long process is coming to a slow close for us...hopefully. Even with an interview there's no guarantee to get the visa quickly. I have seen some being held back for "administrative processing" for months on here....you can read through the older forums for an idea of what can happen. Good and bad.

Make sure you explain to your husband what he is about to go through...and you understand that yourself. Its going to be a while to get this completed. The only thing that can make it faster is if you file all of the papers properly and don't get anything wrong to cause a RFE (request for evidence) on your case......that causes major delays. After you are done processing your paperwork with the NVC and your case is completed, be prepared for a long wait there as well. The K3 is not faster....our K3 interview is scheduled but I will change it to a immigrant visa interview when the time comes if we don't have one already (for the original I-130) because all of our paperwork is done, fees paid, etc.

I called Senators and wrote letters but nothing helps...not even having an attorney. The only way this would probably be quicker is if there was a death in the family or some other emergency, then you would have to have proof and it could still take days.

If your love is strong you will survive it just fine...but you have to stay strong.

You can go over and see him anytime you want....Believe me, I know its hard...I have a job and kids and its hard for me too...that's why I haven't gone back since March. We are going crazy missing each other.....but we do the best we can with daily webcam and phone chats.

Study up on the process and get it all perfect to speed up your chances for a faster interview and hopefully a faster visa.

Best of Luck!
Deb star_smile.gif

Hi- I'm Amy, a newbie here @ VJ.. I am just wondering if anyone knows if there are other forms of visas available to perhaps get my husband here sooner than with a K-3 visa?

I have been told that there are work visas available, and school visas- but have also heard that if you apply for one of those, you could lose all chances for the K-3 to be accepted?!

My husbands living conditions have gone down quite a bit since my last trip there, esp. since he had to buy me a new plane ticket home, because I missed my flight on a non refundable-replaceable ticket, and he has been a student living on savings for the past 3-4months. Things are getting tight for him and of course I want him here YESTERDAY! I know everyone is in the same boat...

I would love ANY info you may have on another option would be greatly appreciated! I don't think I am any better or more important than anyone else, but I REALLY would like to have him here so we can start our family, and I can know he is ok.

Thanks for your time!---Amy

Amy-

That was what I 1st tried as well.. I am due to give birth in 10days and we wanted my husband to be here for the birth of the baby atleast. We applied for a non-immigrant visa just so he can come and than he could go back, but when they found out that he is married to a US citizen they rejected him, no question's asked. Reason being is because they see he has strong ties here in the states and they know if they give him the visa he'd come and stay. I bet everyone has thought of getting their loved ones here the same way but the immigration officers know that what is really happening is we are trying to avoid the long wait times. I am sorry to disappoint you but most likely they will decline his visa just because hes married to you. Sorry.

Good luck and God bless u and that baby! I hope everything goes well for you! This is something that scares me too! I would like my husband here before any children start arriving! I guess things work in God's time, and we just have to rely on Him to see us through it all! I do hope your husband gets here soon to meet your new little one! Life will all work out of that I have complete faith-just wish it would go more my way more of the time! wink.gif Take care and keep us updated on that baby!-Amy

SHUKRAN! To all for your comments and advise on this question- I really do feel for everyone here- what a lengthy and consuming process! Like I said before I don't think my case is any more important than anyone else we all have a long road ahead for this process to be complete!

I can't complain anymore for a while I guess as TODAY in the mail I got an approval for our I-130 that I filed in July!!! AND I received back my I-129F with a letter saying they can't process it because the I-130 is no longer pending approval. Was told this is good news so I am holding on to that as a very strong hope!

My love to all and many many thanks for all your responses to my question- guess we'll just wait for the process to play itself out! --Amy

Thank you and I hope you are one of those people too, just make sure you go to the NVC's website and have everything ready...it will make this part so much faster... pay close attention to the requirements for the Police Certificate requirements for your country. Hopefully our interview can still be scheduled for December! And he can be here at least the beginning of January!-- I hope things go smoothly for you from here on out! Hang on and try not to get thrown off your horse!

I wonder does anyone know if Jordan Embassy will still schedule for December? It is already Mid November... UGH I HATE THE WAITING!-- Talk to you later!-Amy

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNeed some info about getting married in the US...any feedback appreciated!!
QUOTE (newfiechick22 @ Nov 16 2008, 07:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all....I'm new to this site and this whole process but I am looking for some information. I am Canadian and engaged to an American. We have been travelling back and forth for a while now to visit one another and our plan is for me to move to the US with him...eventually. Anyway, I am going there next week to visit for a month and we are planning to get married while I am there. After we get married, we were going to start the K-3 visa process and then I will come back to Canada while we wait for approval. Does this sound legit?? I don't want to make any mistakes so I thought some feedback on this would be great. Also, when I do travel down there next week, should I say that i'm going to get married (if asked by customs) or should i just leave at that i'm visiting. Thanks biggrin.gif

J.

Does Customs really ask if you are coming to get married? VERY interesting! I would leave it up to just visiting if asked, but that is me-- I went to a country 7000 miles away, knowing I was getting married, no one ever even blinked about it -- except EVERYONE in the US that knows and loves me-- They are accepting thins more now.. Good thing too-- my hubby may be here before Valentines Day!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

PhilippinesThe in-laws
Oddly enough, I am in agreement with most of the posts here! My in-laws ALL OF THEM are very welcoming and sweet people, that live a sweet simple life in Jordan! They have never made me to feel that I was intruding or about to rip their son/brother away 7000 miles! My Mum(in law) is the sweetest lady, and though there is a large communication gap between us, lets me know she loves me and accepts me and everything that comes with me(previous children included!) I know she will be sad when Amin finally comes to live here, but we will visit them, and make sure they can come visit us too!
I'm sorry to hear that your inlaws are treating you unfairly. It is probably better that you moved out and are going to do things on your own.. Sometimes that is what they want, and just don't know how to tell you in the first place! Good luck on your "solo flight" with your spouse! Just remember, no financial issue in the world is more important than who is sitting around your Thanksgiving table(or whatever holiday you may be celebrating with them!) So like somone above said--Don't give up on your line of communication with them-They are afterall your spouse's family, and love you regardless!
As I said before Good Luck in your journey and take care!-Amy

PhilippinesApproximate Time between NVC approval and interview date
QUOTE (Maddy_and_Rick @ Jan 10 2009, 08:37 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello,
Maddy and I are trying to determine the space of time between the NVC approval and the interview date. I have her DS-230 ready to send off, all fees paid, just need to take the envelope to the Post Office.
But, because she is in school until sometime in mid-march, we really don't want her interview before that. Hopefully the end of March or first of April at the earliest. She has worked hard to get really good grades in her classes, and I would hate to see her lose it all because she had to be out for days for her medical and interview. And, I plan to be there with her for her interview, and would like to have some time with her.
OK, it was a long post for a short question, just wanted to explain why we prefer a later date. wink.gif

Thanks all,
Maddy & Rick

I am not a professional at answering people's questions, but it seems to me that if you send in the final info, it will still take NVC between 1 and 2 weeks to check and make sure it's all there and put you at case complete... Then you will PROBABLY have to wait till February to find out if you get a March interview--that is how it works for Jordan... If you don't get a March Interview-which is highly likely, you would then call back in March to see if you get one in April... it all has to do with where you sit on the list, and how many visas they can give for that month.. Tricky question- If I were you and wanted to be sure it was not till April, I would wait myself until Late Jan or early Feb to send it, because since you want it April sometime, you will be scheduled for march-- you know laws of odds and stuff! LOL--Good luck

Philippineswhat documents to bring at interview?
My hubby just did the embassy in Jordan...CR1... Does yours not have a copy of the interview letter? You shouldn't have to worry about the security docs, they SHOULD already have them if your hubby is doing his part! There will be a list of things NVC was missing along with that letter-- it would be a good thing to have your spouse send you a copy of everything he has, AT VERY LEAST the interview letter- I fedexed to mine a copy of the last few things I sent to NVC... Always take proof of marriage and relationship, photos, ticket stubs if you have visited anywhere special together-plane ticket stubs... birth certs if there are any infants involved yet, showing him as the father. Ummmm--what else. Really it should be no problem, say a few prayers, take some deep breaths and medetate some too! lol! Relax, they're not oagers going to eat you alive-at least I don't think they are??? Good luck and God Speed!

well... maybe we need to liven things up here--- This is the first val.day we have been together, but hubby sent the sweetest sms to me at 2am! Then got my bunz out of bed for a webcam-chat session, so we could review for his interview... Though he didn't really need to know any of that stuff for his interview?! CRAZY how they ask different questions, and challenge the intending immigrant in ways that are soooo stressful! Oh well... So Yeah- Cheaper, and ummm...WAY more special than last year--I was going thru a divorce at that time last year! K feed on that for a time kids!

Yes I know the whole deal about not being able to stay together, but I'm not going Jordan.
He received his visa and is coming to the US via Jordan and will need to stay overnight there.
I WOULD I WOULD!!! I actually had to come thru JFK on my way home from the last treck to Jordan! It is NOT my favorite airport, but if that is where my habibi comes thru-- that is where I will meet him! Wish to heaven it is soon! Mabruuk on your visa-keep the rest of us VJrs in your prayers!-Amy

Thanks for the help.

oh...I just noticed that you said fiance.....are you getting married while you are in Jordan? If you aren't married they probably won't let you stay at the hotel together.

Deb

QUOTE (esmatsgirl @ Oct 7 2008, 11:00 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I think it will be worth it to be closer to the airport and thats still not very expensive. Esmat and I stayed at a place in Amman right by the big King Hussein Mosque in Amman...it was nice and quiet and cheap at $31.00 dollars...not dinars...for the night...and he drove so we didn't have to worry about a taxi. But we were still out a ways from the airport and that always makes me nervous...I missed one of my flights home once. Being stuck was bittersweet because I had to wait a week to get the next flight but I got to spend an extra week with my sweetheart....haha...how could I complain about that. All I could do is smile. biggrin.gif

Remember to bring your marriage agreement with you...the hotel may want to see it.

Thanks for your help.
My fiance contacted the hotel and its $120 a night.
Hopefully it will be better than staying in the city.

Thats weird ive flown RJ manyyyy times and went thru amman from Beirut and Riyadh and ive always been able to avoid the overnight stay in Amman. Maybe he can look into a different schedule.

Your correct Jess, but Hayz isnt like normal people he wants to take the "scenic tour" to Amman via a "bus" and then fly from there. Even though he can get a plane ticket from Beirut to Amman for little of nothing. To him he is saving more by taking this route (maybe a difference of $40).....

OYY i see! actually id loveeee to take the scenic trip!! my husband on the other hand would think that was nuts!

When is he coming??

He is Leaving Lebanon late on the 15th (around midnight or when ever the last bus is leaving) and should be in Jordan by the 16th sometime. Then he will be on the flight from Amman on the 17th. Should be in Atlanta just after midnight.
I have thought about flying to JFK on that Friday and waiting for him there. He is expecting me at the airport in Atlanta, but I thought it was be a good surprize to be in JFK.

Who would go to JFK and wait for their habibi???

I WOULD!!! I WOULD!!! AND I REALLY CAN'T STAND JFK! Had to come thru there on my last return trek and it was not fun! But for my habibi-- you bet! I'd do anything to be there when he first steps foot in his new country! Mabruuk on your visa- keep the rest of us vjers in your prayers please!!!-Amy
