Called DoS today and it seems that London finally acknowledged that they received packet 3 on September 3rd (glad it didn't get lost in the post!) but no interview has yet been scheduled. I've told Sarah to call the rip off line tomorrow to see if she can get an update as that will be 28 days since they received it.

thats good to hear. now you know they havent lost your forms heh. im on hold with dos right now. we sent ours on aug26 next day shipping so hopefully well be in the system as at least received packet3 soon.

they just told me that our forms were processed into london's system today good.gif

i guess it does take a month for their system to update since the embassy actually received our forms on the 27th of august.

How long is it taking for London to put the packet 3's into the system?

I am wondering because my fiance sent a new DS-157 on Fri. Sept 18, 09 (as per embassy's request). But he emailed the DS-157 to the embassy because the embassy asked for it in an email attachment. DOS is telling us that it is still not in the system. I am thinking the embassy is not quick enough updating their system...so I was wondering how long it is taking for packet 3's being put in the system from the time they are received by the embassy.

it would seem that is the million dollar question.

tinypyramids, that makes me feel better because we mailed our checklist and form to the embassy 26 days ago and the DOS told us today that the latest update is still them sending us packet3. i was worried that our forms got lost in the mail too but i would think both of us having our forms lost in the mail is extremely rare.

United Kingdomgetting a uk spouse visa
hello all,

ive been searching the internet for information about my wife (uk citizen, came here to the usa on a k1 visa) and i (usa citizen) obtaining a uk spouse visa so that we can live and work in the uk together and have a few questions i cant seem to answer. maybe someone here can help us out.

we just got married in the usa and are applying for AOS but in 3 years we want to live and work together in the uk. my concern is the financial requirements. obviously she doesnt have a job in the uk because she is here with me in the usa. im making $20,000 a year and she is making $14,000 and we will have around $20-30,000 in savings by then. we could live with her parents in the uk if we had to.

can anyone let us know if this will be good enough for us to be able to live in the uk together? the only path i see if the traditional way when the uk citizen has been living and working in the uk the whole time.

thanks guys.

United Kingdomlondon embassy forms question
hello friends,

we recently had our i-129f approved (we are getting a fiance k1 visa) and now we have to deal with the embassy in london. i see that we have to fill out these forms (ds-230 part 1, ds-156, ds-157, ds-156k and the iv-15k) then send them to the immigrant visa unit in order to get our interview date.

my question is that on the ds-156k form it says that you need to attach things like the police certificate, birth certificate, evidence of financial support, etc.. to the form. this is confusing to me because on the page with the forms it says that you do not send any documents to the embassy and you need to bring them with you to the interview.

do i need to attach these things to the form and bring them to the interview or do i only need to bring the documents to the interview and the interviewer will attach the documents to the form on that day?

thanks for your help.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionscheduling medical exam with interview? (london embassy)
hello again,

we called the number that they give you to schedule medical exams for the london embassy part of the k1 deal. we asked the lady on the phone if there was any way to schedule the medical exam and embassy interview on back to back days so my fiance didn't have to fly to london from glasgow on seperate occasions. she said to call them back to schedule the medical exam once we know the interview date.

now my question is, is this possible? on the iv-15k form we need to send to the immigration unit in order to get the interview date, it asks for the medical exam date. i thought we could just write there that we will schedule the medical date once we know the interview date.

is this ok?

US Citizenship General Discussionreplacing lost green card question (do we have required documents?)

hey everybody,

my wife came over on a k1 fiance visa almost 4 years ago and shortly after that received her permanent resident (green) card. last month she lost it and we're kind've freaking out. i know we have to fill out the i-90, pay the fee and give certain documents. it is the documents that i am worried about. all we have is her UK passport and her USA social security card. we have the original of the conditional permanent resident card she had before we got her current 10-year one but that is expired. there is no copy of her active green card. we also have her expired k1 visa that is installed into her UK passport.

what can we do?

thanks guys!

if they didnt say it was AP, i would assume "under review" just means they didnt get to it yet.

I hope you're right. This whole process is such an emotional roller coaster. I thought it was smooth sailing after USCIS. It probably still is. I am looking too much into this I think.

yea i think its pretty much impossible for any government agency to accomplish anything in a straightforward, logical and effective way.

when i was sending out my k1 packet with all the papers, the check and what nots, i forgot to put the mailing label on the package before i put it through the slot. the front desk was just closing up so everybody had to use the automated machine and place their own labels on, etc.. so then after i realized what i did im like oh #######! but i see there are people in the service desk area but the blinds are over the window. i can see the lady through the glass as the blinds arent totally covering the window and im knocking on the glass trying to get her attention. i told her what happened and that i needed help. she told me she couldnt help me and that they were closed. this went back and forth for a couple of minutes then i started to get angry. im not an angry guy by any means and this is one of the few times i let loose on someone in my life. this lady was so ridiculous she couldnt even just go back and get my envelope to help me out. so im banging for like 10 minutes and im saying things like "this is ridiculous, show some decency, etcc." finally i find a buzzer on the wall and i just let loose on it for 5 minutes straight, hah. some customers were annoyed but most understood where i was coming from and kept saying things like "i cant believe theyre doing this, etc.." so finally someone comes out and takes my mailing label and puts it on my package. for christs sake! like this process isnt emotional enough, i get some troll messing with me like that.

its not ideal that we have to go through 5 pages of chat to find a bit of info of people in february who have or havent gotten their noa2 or if any new information has come about, but whatever. i dont really like people telling other people what they can and can not say. i can see how others would use this place, especially this topic, to have conversations about what they please. this topic isnt like other ones that are asking specific questions but rather its just for february filers from the VSC to have a place to interact and have others in the same boat to relate with. what really could be discussed other than people saying 'i got mine' or 'i didnt get mine yet' unless some big change or news came out of the VSC. that would be a pretty cold topic i would think. coincidentally that is actually all im after here but hey, to each their own =).

I appreciate this post...and respect what you have said. We could create a thread that shows all the approved Feb VSC filers in one area...but isn't that sort of what the Timeline do already? Igor's list does it as well. However, I can see how having just that relevant data in a thread can somewhat help.

I think we could have it where it shows if the person got NOA2 by phone/email notification/hardcopy or a combination of those. I don't have a need for the info since I'm done with the process until AOS. But, I would be happy to see one of those threads started. good.gif

I think the other poster...is trying to dictate what we discuss when they have every RIGHT on VJ to start a new thread and put a disclaimer about what topic the thread should focus on. The original poster of this thread doesn't have a problem with the Off Topic convos right LizPat?

one other thing...you can also search by keywords on this thread...such as approved...NOA2...or whatever to get past all of our crazy conversations if that will help at all. Not much we can do to change the history of the thread at this point.

youre right, that is what the timelines are for. in all honesty, i do dig the emotional bond of a topic as opposed to strictly tracking timelines so maybe im not using this thread as coldly as i mightve came off. some people just want to have their cake and eat it too i guess.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresi-134 uncertainty
hello everybody this is my first post here
ive been reading the forum over the past few days and it is great
thank you

ive done a lot of research on getting a k1 fiance visa
im living in north carolina and my fiance is in scotland, united kingdom
we shouldnt have a problem getting this visa
weve traveled together for 13 months and ive lived with her in scotland for 6 months

my concern is in regards to the i-134 proof of support part of the process
in the last 17 months ive been unemployed
this is because of travelling all over with my fiance
and now having a hard time finding work
before that 17 months i only worked for 2 months which was right after i lived with her in scotland for 6 months
so, my income is pretty nill
in 2008 and 2007 i made pretty much nothing
in 2006 before i was with my fiance i worked all year and brought home about $24,000

now i know i cant meet the financial requirement to support my fiance
but i do live with my parents and my dad brings in about $32,000 a year on his retirement
after doing a lot of research it seems like if i sponsor my fiance and he co-sponsors it should be no problem

im just very nervous and uncertain about the whole thing
becoming knowledgable to the process and using logic it seems like there should be no problem
i guess im just looking for reassurance or if theres any reason i would have a problem

thanks for your help in advance

=)

hello again,

my now wife arrived in JFK as her POE and they stamped her so that she can work. this expires in 1 year. my question is, do we need to send in any forms or will she just be granted permanent working ability after her AOS is accepted? i see that on the visajourney AOS information link (http://www.visajourn...k2visa-aos.html), it tells you to send in a form for employment authorization but it is only for temporary authorization. im just a bit confused and appreciate any information.

thanks.
