It is commonly accepted when people meet on line whatever site they use. You can see in Karee's post that they arent wild about anything that hints of an arranged meeting even though its fine & we see with him. This stems from the way things are in Thailand & Laos when it comes to selling people ect. Many Americans have no idea of what goes on.

There's a good reason for it. There's a couple places here in Dallas that are "Thai massage" The girls came over on K-1, and now they're laying on their back for a living. Passports confisicated by the mama san etc. I'm not saying they weren't doing that in Thailand before. Most likely they probably were. Of course they're all out of status now.

On the other hand, I've met some really good Thai people here that have treated my wife well.

What new arrivals need to look out for are these vicious Thais. They will treat your wife like sh!t since they were here first. I've run into that and it had my wife in tears. Just cause they're Thai doesn't make them nice. Pick and choose your Thai friends carefully once she arrives.

CaribbeanNOID Please I need Advice

Hello VJ,

I called the NCSC to follow up on my Petition and was told a NOID was sent August 7th 2012. I am yet to receive the mail but I wanted to find out if any one has experienced this or have an advice for me. I have contacted both the NVC and USCIS on why my initial Petition was returned and still no answer
Thank you! Please see below for more information on my Petition thanks

1. Filed Initial Petition May 25th 2011.
2. The petition is approved by the California Service Center and forwarded to the US Consulate in London
3. The consulate denies the beneficiary's visa application and returns the petition to CSC, with the recommendation that the petition's approval be revoked.
4. I received an I-797 notice from CSC that states the petition's approval was not revalidated by a consular officer, and therefore has expired
5. I filed another Petition May 9th 2012 and on August 7th 2012 I was sent a NOID but still waiting to receive it.
6. I am told this is just intent to deny and I should follow instructions. Please as anyone experienced this?

Did the consulate say why they were sending it back?

ThailandShipping to USA from Bangkok

My fiancee has been approved and will be flying to Boston on March 15th. Does anyone know of a reputable low cost option for shipping personal effects? My fiancee probably has two pallets worth of stuff she would like to send here but sending via air will cost several thousands of dollars. Boat would be great but it's last minute now and I have no leads so any help is appreciated! I would be interested to know what some here have done in this circumstance.

Thanks!

Consider Freight consolidators. Cheapest option but may take awhile. Otherwise will be a fortune.

ThailandThailand Co Sponsor Help

The criteria is the same no matter what building a person is in. To interview in C M she has to reside in that area. All others must use BKK.
In two cases I know of the use of co sponsors was allowed. In general they are not allowed. If you have support problems you may want to consider marrying in Thaland. That would allow you to petition for a C R 1 where cosponsors are accepted.

Nope. All K visas are processed in BKK regardless of where you live in the country.

ThailandBangkok Embassy
You file the I-864 with NVC, so they are the ones that decide about a co-sponsor, not the embassy.

ThailandThailand - proof of relationship?

Can someone give me some guidance as to what you used to prove the marriage relationship? I am trying to help a friend gather his info, he's married to a woman in Thailand, and I had suggested affidavits, but wanted some clarification for those of you dealing with that embassy as to what you submitted, did you get affidavits, were they notarized, etc....?

Thanks in advance!

Photos Photos Photos of them together in Thailand. They love that there. A friend of mine lived in Thailand with his Thai wife for 2 years. He showed 100+ Thai entry stamps in his passport. That wasn't good enough. Any type of PRROF of them being together is what they want.

Yeah there were no deaths in the 2006 coup to remove Thaksin. I think at the time he was in the US at the UN. It cannot be good if England gave him a passport and then took it away from him in 2008. I have heard the reason he got divorced was to for he and his wife to protect their money. If his sister wins their party wants to give amnesty to every party including Thaksin, I wonder if it will only include him and some red shirts. I never realized she sold the land a week later, I knew she sold just never knew it was that soon. Here is to hoping there are no problems after the elections.

I remember last year my friend was supposed to have her tourist visa interview at the US embassy but the red shirts closed it the week of her interview. She had to wait in a HUGE line outside the embassy in June to get her interview. She got the visa. That week of the red shirts she could not go to work either because she worked right there.

He actually came back to Thailand after that. Then he went to the Olympics in China. That's when he bailed. He's a common criminal, and should be treated as such.

Yingluck is his younger sister. When I started the k-1 process back in September 2010 I was hoping to be done before Songkran came along because of what happened the last 2 years but the interview is June 8th. Luckily nothing happened this Songkran this year and I was there this year. Pui was working at the air port in December 2008 when the yellow shirts took it over and she was stuck there for between 12 - 24 hours and still had to keep going back there for work. I want her to be gone before the election in July because who knows what will happen after the election since she still works at the airport. Here is to hoping nothing happens after the elections there.

Yeah Yingluck = Thaksin. No way around that. Pheu Thai will lose for sure this go around. They'll then claim election fraud, when they are the ones paying people up north and east. More protests etc. It's an endless cycle of BS.

I preferred it when the Army had the coup. They shut off the TV for 24 hours, but other than that things ran ok. Some countries are not prepared for democracy in the true sense. Thailand is one of them.

I find it odd when there was a coup, there was no violence. When square head sent all those people to BKK and shut down BKK for over a month, people died. Thaksin is a desperate man at this point. The fact that he his going to throw his younger sister to the wolves proves it. He keeps trying though... Samak, Somchai, and now his younger sister. What a piece of sh$t he is.

This mess will go on and on until he is in jail or dead. I prefer the latter for his sister's sake and Thailand's sake

I'm sure there's people out there like that, but for this guy to paint such a broad brush is appalling. I suspect he ran in to the wrong girl and is now gonna use his pen/keyboard to trash Thailand.

I've been there. I got screwed by the first girl I met there. I was pissed don't get me wrong. But to blame the whole country and culture on a few bargirls is totally wrong.

I lived there for 3 years. I hate Thaksin because:

1. His extra-judicial killings of "suspected" drug dealers. 2500 in all.

2. The Rachatdapisek land deal. His wife turned the property and doubled the profit from 750m baht to 1.5B baht in less than a week. His wife purchased this property while he was PM. He was handed a 2 year jail sentence for this, which he refuses to come back to Thailand and serve.

3. His arrogance against the Monarchy and the political system there. He won the election in 2006 when all the other parties boycotted it for electoral corruption. When he won with a landslide he went on TV to proclaim TRT the winner as arrogant as ever. However, when HRH Bhumibol refused to endorse the results, he was on TV crying. Hence the coup. The coup was a good thing for Thailand. This nutter had to go, and that was the only way to do it.

4. His sanctioned burning of Bangkok in April/May of 2010. He went on one of his tirades on the red shirt stage via video. Burn it down he said. It is well documented.. video and all.

This guy is a psychopath, and anyone that votes for his nominee (Now it's his daughter Yingluck) gets what they deserve. A corrupt govt. that only cares about bringing back this meglomaniac that only cares about himself and his riches.

hi all,

i have a friend in thailand right now that my husband wants to have bring some stuff back to the states. it is a full suitcase worth of stuff he wants. we want to send the money to him so he can pay for everything (poor student) western union only offering a 28.3THB exchange rate and my banks (BofA and Wells Fargo want between 35-45 a piece but I couldn't determine if I could send it somewhere to pick up, he's a USC not Thai national so no bank to receive it unless someone has some advice).

THANK YOU!

I don't know your time constraints, but you could send a prepaid debit card.

ThailandPacket 3 - Birth Certificate

In Packet 3 for K-1 application, it asks for a birth certificate.
It also mentioned that in the case where a birth certificate is unobtainable, other secondary evidence could be substituted such as family register along with an ID card, etc.

Please comment on some of the acceptable substitutes to the birth certificate.
Is getting the birth certificate a must and the best option?

Thanks,

kkm

My wife didn't have a BC. She had to go to the Amphur with her mom and get a document saying when and where she was born. From the DOS website:

The issuance of birth certificates in Thailand began in Bangkok in 1917. Records of birth are often lacking for people born in Bangkok before World War II and for those born in other areas of the country up until the 1970s. Birth Certificates are issued by "Amphur," (geographic subdivision roughly equivalent to a county in the U.S.) district authorities having jurisdiction over the place of birth. There may be a fee for this service.

A Thai citizen older than 15 and born in Thailand, whose birth was not registered, must present in its stead a household registration, together with a Thai national identity card ("bat prachachon"), and may also be required to submit additional proof of the claimed relationship.

Same here. The police office says 2-4 weeks. My wife was getting some documents translated in Bangkok and they got the PCC in 3 days for her. She didn't have to go in person.

Yeah you don't have to show up. If you don't, you just have to pay more.

I have to buy him a plane ticket to got there....any cheap and good airlines other than Air Asia?

8 hours on the bus. 500THB. Call that lawyer in Chiang Mai.

I thought it was mandatory for every Thai resident to go to Bangkok in person for this? Especially with all the documents required to show.

She had a lawyer in Chiang Mai deal with it for 5k baht. She didn't feel like making the 10 hour bus trip to Bangkok. I got yelled at before here because someone here said I was trying to rip someone off. I HAVE NOTHING to do with it. Pay the guy or make the trip if you want. I have no skins in the game.

Why does the police certificate have to be obtained in BKK in person? What a waste of money...

My wife was able to pay a lawyer or motorbike driver to get it for her. She was in Chiang Mai. Not sure which one. But she never showed up there in person.

Don't need photos. I stand corrected. She did have to take photos with her. They do want to see some type of paperwork from the embassy. This was 2009. Could have changed. My wife showed them the packet 4 instructions. Since you are K-1, packet 3 should be good.

I almost forgot to say. Would anyone know if they require the 3 1 x 1.5 inch photos there? Andy and Pui responded a little while back and said it wasn't required, but that was at BNH in Bangkok. Thank you again.
