K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresApproved...NOA2
Wow! What fun it was to read all of this..especially Satori's 'ranting's. Thanks to all of you who understand. Glad to see there are some 'sensible' people out there.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresApproved...NOA2
Wow! Didn't mean to upset everyone...thought this forum was for asking questions and sharing knowledge...etc. First off, I am not complaining at all...was just trying to figure out a timeline to do it all, legally. As everyone in this situation knows, it is difficult to plan a wedding and try and have some sense of 'normalcy' in a relationship like this, and all we're trying to do is be together. As for just marrying him right away, we're also trying to be smart about it and we know that if he stays in England until June of next year, we'll be better off for starting a life here together, as he will have more money saved...before he gets over here and becomes unemployed indefinitely.

For those of you that answered my questions without giving me grief, thank you, I appreciate it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresApproved...NOA2
I know this is going to sound weird, but we got approved today for our NOA2 and it's actually going faster than we would like. We're getting married next August, and we were hoping to have his parent's come over in March or April for a visit (to meet the family, see the wedding space, etc). At this rate we will be approved by then and once he's in the country, we all know he's got 90 days to marry me...Our fear is we will get approved too soon and then he won't be able to come over in March for the visit with his parents...My question is, does anyone know how much time we have between reveiving the NOA2 and turning in the next round of paperwork? We're hoping to turn our paperwork in slowly and kind of slow it up a bit. Hope I'm making sense...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long before NVC get NOA2
How do you know when NVC has received your packet, and when it is sent to the embassy? Do they email you a notification? Or should I be checking somewhere?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting During I-129F Process

I get the impression that it will be fine, it really is just that fear of screwing up something this important.

I would think it would be a good thing to acknowledge the pending K-1 visa? Rationally [not that anything in the K-1 process seems all that based in rationale sometimes] I would think it would be obvious that we weren't intending to get married while he's here at Christmas, because that would make no sense if we've filed for the K-1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he'd just get kicked out immediately if we got married without the K-1, right?

I would think it would appear more of a risk if we HADN'T filed already. I might be wrong though.

I agree with you...if we're trying to by-pass the process, why would we even have filed in the first place? But they don't look at it that way.

My fiance is from the UK and he just came out here in September for two weeks. He was here last year for 5 months on a tourist visa, so they pulled him over and questioned him about that. He was honest and said he was here to see me and they questioned him for about an hour, before letting him in. (Quite nerve racking on my end, waiting in arrivals, knowing his plane has landed and he hasn't come through yet). It was huge relief to see him come through the doors! He said they were all really nice to him, just asked him about when we're getting married and when he's returning to the Uk and what he does for a living, etc. HE took some work documents with him, and they never asked to see them.

Like everyone else says, all you can is be honest...and hope you get someone in a good mood!

The police certificate is valid for a period of twelve months from the date on it, in terms of address's if you apply to :

If you have every committed any offences you will also require the Memorandums of Conviction for each offence committed. These are obtainable from the court at which you were tried. if you have no offences then all you will get is a letter stating that no information is held about you. Any documents from new Scotland yard will have a NAtional Identification Service Authentic Document band on the top and bottom and it is dark blue.

Hope that helps

Yeh, it does help. I was afraid it would be valid for a short period of time, but now I know he can apply for it sooner rather than later so we have it in hand when we need it.
Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUK police check details

So when the K1 states you need a police check form all places resident since the age of 16 and the UK police check forms askes for addresses in the last 10 years is this a problem? I am more than 26 so last 10 years does not take me back to 16! I do not know what the UK prrof of police check looks like - does it state dates for which it checked it's database? Do I have to request an additional check for other addresses?
Thanks

Dont worry, just give your address details for the last 10 years even if they dont go back to the time when u were 16. I applied my Police Certificate from the Strathclyde region (Glasgow) in the same way.

I have another question to tack on here. My fiance is British and currently lives in Cambridge, though he has also lived in Manchester and London in the past 10 years. Does he need police checks from each city, or is just one police check that covers your police record within the country? Hope this doesn't add confusion...

On the application form, if possible, inlude all your addresses for the last 10 years. You should then receive a Police Certificate from your current local Police force AND also another one (which usually takes longer) from Scotand Yard which is from the Police National Computer, covering the whole of UK.

Hope this helps & good luck!

How long is the police certificate valid? I was thinking that my fiance should apply for his so when we get to the point of needing it we will have it. But I don't want to get it too early either. Does anyone know how long it's valid for and also about how long it takes to get?
Thanks!
