good.gif Hello, i have searched for allot of information on this without getting any good answer.
I tried to get in contact by phone with the consulate to learn that they don't service phone call anymore...
Here is my question...

I am currently waiting my K-1 visa.
we are at the step where we have to wait for it to be sent to Canada. (NOA2)
It is gonna take a while and i want to go to the US still in the mean-time.

Knowing the fact that i don't need a visa to enter the US can anyone tell me if it really does a big deal if i go for 2 week ?

Hello! My fiancé and I are thinking of appyling for CR1 or K1 - I have my tourist visa (I'm Mexican) and I want to be able to come up and visit him (he's American) in the time we are waiting for the visa. Is one visa (CR1 or K1) more advantageous than the other, when it comes to entering the US to visit as a tourist? We want to be together and don't want to face the risk of deportation. Thanks for your help, very much appreciated! Good luck to all VJers! wink.gif

At this time you can still go to the US and meet your fiance even if you started a K-1 process
but hurry cause i heard the US is soon gonna ask Visa just to be visiting...

since you don't need a visa just to travel your okay as it don't interfere with your non-immigrant status of the k-1

im saying that to you as its the same for canada and im going to see my fiance in august

Make sure you bring proof that you have intention of going back to mexico after
like a Job paper from your employer or a rent paper..dept stuff that keep you there and of course a plane ticket on the way back if you take plane...

Green card seekers won't have to get HPV vaccine

By ANABELLE GARAY (AP) – 2 hours ago

DALLAS — Immigrant girls and women will no longer have to be vaccinated against a sexually transmitted virus to get their green cards.

Starting Dec. 14, the HPV, or human papillomavirus vaccine will no longer be on the list of immunizations female immigrants ages 11 to 26 must receive before becoming legal permanent residents.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention made the change on Friday. The CDC said it will require immunizations for which there is a public health need either at the time the person immigrates or changes their status to green card holder.

"More than half of the immigrants who come to the U.S. seeking opportunity are women," Silvia Henriquez, executive director of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, said in a statement. "We thank the CDC for restoring their dignity and reproductive justice."

Girls and women seeking to become legal permanent U.S. residents were required to get at least the first dose of the HPV vaccine, which protects against some strains of the virus blamed for cervical cancer. It was added to the list of required vaccinations for immigrants in July 2008.

Soon after, a coalition of more than 100 immigrant, health and women's advocacy groups challenged the requirement, saying it was unfair to require the HPV vaccine for immigrants but not for most U.S. citizens.

Attempts to require the vaccine for American girls has brought emotional debate and complaints that such mandates intrude on family decisions about sex education. In Texas, lawmakers fought off a 2007 order by Gov. Rick Perry requiring the shots for sixth-grade girls amid questions about vaccine's safety, efficacy and cost.

At a price of $400 to $1,000 for the three-shot series, the vaccine also was an added burden on green card applicants already paying more than a thousand dollars in application fees and hundreds of dollars for mandatory medical exams. Insurance companies do not cover health services required for immigration purposes, advocates pointed out.

"It also put the financial burden on the individual woman and her family," Gabriela Valle, senior director of community outreach and mobilization for California Latinas for Reproductive Justice, said Monday. "Not only are you taking my rights to make an informed decision over my body, over myself, over my daughter, but you're having me pay for it as well."

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Gardasil in 2006 to protect against the human papillomavirus. The CDC immunization advisory committee quickly followed up by recommending it for girls and young women.

For U.S. citizens, the committee's recommendations serve only to provide guidance on vaccines. But a 1996 change to the nation's immigration laws required anyone seeking permanent residency to get all the vaccinations recommended by the committee.

The CDC's newly adopted criteria to determine which vaccines will be required for immigrants says the vaccine must be age appropriate. It also must protect against a disease that has the potential to cause an outbreak, has been eliminated in the U.S. or is in the process of being eliminated from the country.

Aside from removing the HPV vaccine mandate, the change also means the Zoster vaccine to protect against shingles won't be required of immigrants 60 or older.

"They are not easily transmissible," Dr. Katrin Kohl, deputy director in the CDC's division of global migration and quarantine, said of the two. "They don't fit into the whole public health spirit of outbreak prevention."

However, the agency continues to recommend both vaccines, Kohl said.

Your NOA2 is a one-time entry visa. Once you come into the US you have to adjust status - apply for status, ssn, work permit and advance parol (travel permission). If you come to visit and leave you forfeit your NOA2.

I loled very hard... funny... blink.gif whistling.gif

QUOTE (canadian_wife @ Jul 26 2009, 08:25 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
NOA-2 is not a visa, it is a document indicating that your petition has been approved by USCIS. You do not have a K-1 visa until a successful interview. Visiting with your NOA-2 does not forfeit anything.
Anyway, your list sounds good, the job letter is excellent. What about a doctor's appointment card? (had that once and it worked well) or perhaps utility bills? Or a letter from someone caring for your children indicating when you are expected to return?

Thanks for your information blush.gif

I would not worry yourself. I went through the exact same thinking about a month ago and all they asked for was my return ticket and my NOA1. The NOA is very good proof that you intend to return home and are abiding by US immigration law. I to did not have my own house and live with my parents.

Everything that you have sounds like more than enough for a two week stay and yes the cbp officer gets the final say and has the right to deny you entry but that rarely ever happens to Canadians. Be honest, keep your responses brief and don't walk up to the counter with file full of paperwork. Just give him what he asks for, chances are he won't even ask to see the majority of your paperwork.

Your right ...it's just so stupid that some people get denied and sometime for no reason...
It's also ridiculous how us people that want to do everything legal.. are more suspected than normal people going on a visit..
I read about the fact they sometime hire students at the border...
I kinda would like to be choosing the booth of the officer but in Canada airport they assign you to an officer.

QUOTE (Jon & Dana @ Aug 5 2009, 10:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
No. My fiancé had conflicting allergies with some of the components that are in Gardasil. During the medical, the doctor gave her a blanket waiver for the shot (Gardasil). The blanket waiver permitted her to get the visa without requiring her to get the shot (for now or AOS). Because this wavier was issued by an approved doctor, we didn’t have to pay for a thing.

How did she prove she was allergic ? her doctor ?

I don't know much about the CR-1 visa but I know for the K1 they expect to see your completed immunizations at the AOS interview or something to that effect. If theres no follow up for the CR-1 than I would say you are in the clear if you only want to get the one shot.

My Fiancé just had her medical exam today. The doctor gave her a “blanket waiver” due to her past reactions to shots. So basically, she got all the required shots needed except Gardasil. The only thing I’m worried about is if this will delay the possibility of her getting the visa at the interview tomorrow (8-4-9). Hopefully this wont but there is also a possibility she might have to file for a I-693 “Examination and Vaccination Record”. I hope this will never have to happen!

I'm interested to hear how this turns out. Please let us know what they say about the banket waiver at the interview.

The blanket waiver worked fine! She never had to get the shot and was granted the visa!!! Whohoo!

Did you had to pay for such a waiver?
what you say sound confusing.. if she got her visa.. she don't need it until the AOS ..so maybe she will need it anyway

But good news ...

Firefox WILL NOT print the new DS-160 application.

You must do the application in Internet Explorer, or restore an application save file from Internet Explorer, to be able to print the entire application successfully.

Firefox can print the confirmation page, but again, it CANNOT print the full application.

I had to go through the form twice because of this.

ATTENTION VISAJOURNEY STAFF: Can you put this in a sticky somewhere?

Edit: FYI, the 1-900 number said that multiple submissions were no problem, you just might need to explain what happened to them at some point.

Confirmation

YOU MUST BRING this confirmation page and the following document(s) with you at all steps during the application process:
Passport; evidence of approved I-129F.
The barcode MUST be clear and legible on the printed page. You may also print the entire application for your records. If you do not have access to a printer at this time, select the option to email your confirmation page to an email address.
Please contact your Consular Post directly for information on how to continue the application process. Please note that you will be required to provide proof that you have paid the visa application fee. You may also provide any additional documents you feel will support your case. DO NOT submit the entire application.
Some posts have special procedures for applicants who may not need a visa interview; you may find information about that process on the Consular Post's website.
There may be other fees associated with the visa application process. Please check your country's Reciprocity Schedule for any other fees you may owe.
If you have further questions or to find out how to contact the Consular Post please go to www.consular.canada.usembassy.gov or http://travel.state.gov.

im sooo confused

read on this website...
http://travel.state....forms_4401.html

13.
When I apply for a nonimmigrant visa using the online DS-160, are additional forms required?
No, with one exception. When applying at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate that is using the new DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application, you will use only one (1) form. For Embassies and Consulates that have converted to this new process, the DS-160 has replaced all of the following forms: DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157, DS-158, and DS-3032, which are no longer necessary.NOTE: The exception is the Treaty Trader/Treaty Investor visa application, which is explained in #14 below. (HUH ??? then why should i send them the rest of the Ds-forms ?)

It is important to check the Embassy or Consulate website where you will apply for your nonimmigrant visa for information on the application process in place. Embassies and consulates worldwide will transition one-by-one to the DS-160. Therefore, those Embassies which have not yet converted to the new DS-160 online form continue to require all application forms, as necessary.

What does it mean...

should i print 2 time the 160 ? cause it was telling me to just bring the confirmation receipt and i saw the online form said *sent* as they got it by online right ?
now... they told peach (sry the member with the peach picture) that she needed 2 ??
on my paper it says just 1 and the receipt... but then again on my online thing they told me not to send them the confirmation receipt ...to just print it and bring it on interview... helpsmilie.gif

For the medical, you can book it before your interview date, you just need your "MTL" case number. The medical is good for one year, so don't get it too soon before you anticipate your interview date....

You can send the checklist back without actually having the medical results & police cert in hand.... you just must have them in time for the interview!

They will tell you at the medical. They will not release your medical if you haven't had all the shots. I think at Medsys you can have them done right there. If you are having the medical around your interview time and then moving right away you may be ok, but as I said, they can RFE you for proof of the rest of the shots. If you have your medical done ahead of time (as I did) with montreal taking so long to get an interview you will probably be up for your second shot before you get your interview date, which you will have to include proof of with the AOS package.
