we will stand up for my younger bros wedding ( that was his wish for us to come when he gets married )and make it our honeymoon trip at the same time ,
its going to be so great cant hardly waite

yes this winter has been brutal....Ive been in Brampton (near Toronto) for 6 years and its been the snowiest Ive ever seen...reminds my husband of winters when he was a kid...so glad I grew up in the desert (Las Vegas)!!..LOL

yup we just got back from a 4 day trip to canada to see my kids using my GC for the first time
the trip was a piece of cake crossing the border the guard askd how long we stay whats the purpose congratulated for the success on the GC ,
and wished us a save trip ( very friendly dude

)
arriving in canada well wow what a colture shock ,
OMG the snow is tremendouse never have I seen a mess like that since the 20 years I lived there
( other then the ice storm years ago )
anyhow we had a great time and coming back home was the same thing a very friendly border guard ,
they didnt mention anything about the differant names passport and GC .
( but I had the marriage cert with me just in case they wanted to see it , wich they never did )
what supriced me that they left the I 94 in my passport even though its exipiered ,
but oh well I guess I have a nice lil souvenier so all in all very easy and friendly experience

I have a related question. I know that they ask for one original or certified copy and one copy. We have my fiance's original birth certificate, but we only have one, no certified copies or anything. Will they just ask to see the original and keep the copy or will they need a certified copy submitted?

Hi in my case I brought a normal copy( not nothorized or certified or anything special ) and the original, the took the copy and looked at the original handed me back the original and that was it

in my case they asked and looked at all original certificates at the interview ,
I dont know if a nothorized certificate will be good enough , ( you will also need a translated one if its not in english )
my best advice would be call the pakistani embassy and see ,what they can do to get a original certificate , or get your copy translated and nothorized by them ( even thou I know you could translate it your self , but it probly would give a better impression to have it done by them, incase you wont be able to get the original , at least you have a stamp from the original embassy responsable for you )

compare to when we filed was 4-6 month waiting period , well am happy they spead things up as i know its a pain in the butt to be seperated from the one you love ,

and then another wow for 12 days to interview ( what did you do to get that date so fast , brieve the consulate with some good poutin ?? lol ) congrats

yup am still with my babe in mass he will come back with me next weekend when I have to go back for the big day just thinking about it gets me all anxiouse and stuff I know I got everything ready but oh well you all know this waiting period makes a person more anxiouse as the date aproches
anyhow just had to say hi and see how everyone is doin
( Oh my daughter loved the train ride to come here she was amazed at the adirondaks and the view of the lakes she loved it , she stayed for 2 weeks with us then had to go back home but had a grand ole time

Sharon and I are pretty much stressed out now that she is back at work because she is on the overnight shift which works from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m.. That reduces our time together quite a bit since I work from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Last night being her first shift this morning she was too tired to talk so we had 15 minutes together, tonight we should be able to sqeeze in an hour or so before she is off to work again.

I think am ready but also a bit nervouse but staying calm and busy I started to make my own wedding gown ( daughter bought me a sleavless ice blue dress , I love it but thought it was to plain for the wedding even thou we arent planning a church wedding and just immidiate family , I still want to have it memorable and nice , so am decorating the dress with all kinda fancy shmansy stuff ( flowers beads perls stuff like that ) wich keeps my mind pretty much ocupied , I feel a bit overwelmed but yeah I think am ready for the interview

I also send my DS 156 with package 3 back , but had a lil mistake on it so I askd them if I have to print another theyr response was no they will correct it with liquide papper at the interview
no need to print another

Oh so it wouldnt realy mather if we get there 30 min late ?
Montreal is bad in the morning the rush hour traffic to go to town is rediculess and am scarred to get stuck in traffic , told my babe we will have to leave the house at 5 latest 5;30 to be there for 7;30
( thats a normal rush hour traffic time to get there on time and not late )_ even tough I only live 20 - 30 min drive from the city if there is no rush hour

CONGRATS glad you got aproved too , we saw you on the computers but didnt want to desturb you and when we got out we where so exited and I was kinda blind i was in a drance and couldnt see nothing but the exit door ,lol ,
I askd Tony if you where still around when we left,he said he saw you on the other side but we where to anxiouse to get out of there ,
funny thing is me too I droped the pappers but not directly at the interview it was when the lady asked to see the original and copies of the documents , I had to folders so as I took the copies out the other folder droped ,the lady just smiled , ( at first I had a elderly woman with short blond hair she was probly the one you got cose she was kinda sorta like military and not friendly at all , then when they calld us back to window 9 there was a differant woman heavey set with long dirty blond hair she was amasingly friendly, but man the first lady wow what a drill seargent ,lol )
tony came up said stay calm baby he took the folder and placed it on the lil table there .
was so glad he was with me he kept me sane , anyhow sorry we didnt catch you before we left but so glad you got aproved too CONGRATS

Liz's Day in Montreal

So, I arrived via cab ($32 chez aunt) at the Consulate @ 6:49 am. Good thing too because I obtained 1st *prize* by 2 mins! It was crazy cold and my legs were shaking for the 40ish mins I was outside (jeans are not a smart idea in the cold). So I lined up on the left side of the front doors and like clockwork they opened at 7:30 am sharp. They looked through my little purse, my jacket pockets and everything really well. Got the letter *A* which guaranteed that I'd be the first one up!

Waited at the bottom of the stairs while security got everyone into the place. Then the guard came up and took all of us with Letter cards into the elevator to the 19th floor (walked to the back of course). Sat in the waiting room for a few mins then heard a name called on the PA system. Turns out, it WASN'T my name!! The girl who was next in line after me got called 1st (and it sounded similar) so I went!!

. That got cleared up after a few mins so I had to switch to the other booth (hehe). Handed the paperwork into attendent. She then asked me to go back and pay the $100 US. Did that. Then waited some more....... Then got called back to the booth to show her my receipt and she had a form for me to sign and confirmed that Ol's address hasn't changed (which it had!) so she busted out her white-out and passed it over for me to edit that.

So then we return to waiting in the main area. It was daunting at first cuz you started hearing names getting called on the PA system in a really low voice!! And we were all like, WHAT WAS THAT>>!??##. Well, it was all french names (we became convinced that they're seperating the french and english speaking people) cuz whenever it was and *english* name, it was loud and clear (does help to sit in the front row though).

At 9:00am, I heard my name "Liz, please come to room #7" in that Welcome to Moviephone voice..

Took me a sec to figure out where that was!

From all the reports that it's a closet, i was expecting a super tiny room.. which it really wasn't.. think more decent/big sized walk-in closet. The CO was very friendly and apparently just talks in that moviephone voice continuously... (pretty amusing really). He asked me to raise my right hand and swear that everything I was about to say was true. He asked me questions about my family and why we moved from the middle east to canada. He then asked me how I met Ol (told him that was through my cousin in NJ, they used to be roommates). He then asked what I plan to do in the US and what Ol does. And then with a great smile said "You're approved!"

So that's it folks! At 9:05am I was done!!

The other two girls I was hanging with in the waiting room (K1'ers) also got approved.

I move in 11 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(ps. didn't need the x-ray, plane tickets, wedding invitations, phone bills or photographs of us)
