HI ALL,
seems like most of us are frustrated with our lawyers ,i have 2 questions here ,all suggestions are welcome--
why are lawyers so lazy for k1?WHAT THEY WANT TO PROVE --UNPROFESSIONALISM AT ITS HIGHEST OR WHAT ?
the attitude they carry is --i care a damn>>//WHY SHOULD we undergo so much hassle and pay them for?
Is it case for k1 or with all type visas i wonder?
lack of compassion and empathy is all they show.
too much ranting .
chao
natasha & peter

Hi, I understand your frustration with lawyers. Most of them are all alike. They are greedy and just want money and in most cases they can do no more for you than you can do yourself. After all, you have to gather all of the information and give it to them. All they do is have their secretary type it up and submit it. You can do it very easily yourself. We used Nolo Books on immigration. They walk you through every line on every form and tell you how to submit it. This book is available to download for less than $30.00. Go to www.nolo.com and click on the immigration tab. You will be able to get a book that will cover K1-4 visas as well as CR1 with instructions clear through citizenship. Immigration is painful enough without having to add to the pain by having a lawyer....I guess you can see that I am not impressed with lawyers..
Take care and good luck.......Loren

your advice is great
but why buy a book when you can have all the info and everything you need right here from visa journey guide ,
http://www.visajourn...amp;page=guides
and if you have trouble to fill out the documents you can use the free examples here
http://www.visajourn...p;page=examples
yes its very time consumming but hey isnt our whole life time consumming ?
it takes time for everything we do in life so why not spend the time for something you realy want other then spend the cash for something you dont need wink.gif

CanadaWHY ARE K1 LAWYERS SO LAZY
my advice on this is , if you have extra cash to give away why not buy some timbits and a great coffee invite everyone from VJ for a day of great visa chat and sweets ,
tawk about everything and anything involved in visa process have a laugh when people type theyr accents ( like me lol )
get all the suport here without loosin a lota cash other then a few timbits
fire your liar ( oops I meen laywer ) we will help you get trough this who needs a liar when ya can have people help you with funny accents yes.gif

CanadaApproved!
QUOTE (knowledge @ Jan 20 2008, 10:33 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Last week we got the interview and got Approved!! All went smooth and all there were more than accomodating and patient with my english! ( i was very very nervous because of that) The basic rituals at the entry and at the interview as well, the basic questions. Got back my originals. (marriage and birth certif). The consular even stated i was too honest and shouldn't do so much. (if he knew lol).

Before more questions, we, my hubby and I want to THANK FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEART the old crew (because we were an antiquity on here by now) and new crew that helped us, the nasty and the nice ones, we learned a lot from every post and situations in order to be better prepared, especially, i believe all is mostly a psychological test; we are certainly not the same individuals...and i hope we are better ones now.

My question for now is: our 2nd year of marriage aniversary is in the near futur; i don't understand when we have to apply for the Permanent card. does it have to do with the 2nd year of marriage or 2nd year of Temp. Card that i believe if i understood well i'll get now.
Again, thank you so much, and in particular to Capt Ewok who conceived this little jewel of site but not of less help and gave us all the liberty to express ourselves even in the darkest moments rose.gif

sorry I dont have the answer as I dont know much about K3 , or CR1 , but wanted to say congrats on the aproval smile.gif

As a Canadian, I'm completely overwhelmed by the health insurance system here and the more I look into it, the more infuriated I become. Co-pay, HMO, PPO... grrr... It all makes me dizzy. We have to find a "civilian" plan until my husband starts a new job that has a plan. We'll probably only need coverage for 6 to 8 months - after that he'll have it from his employer.

Do any well-seasoned Canadians or USC on here have any suggestions/ words of wisdom for finding an "idiots guide" to health insurance or resources to find a good plan for my husband and I?

I really miss OHIP sad.gif

I know here in Mass everyone must have health insurance , ( am on my husbands insurance plan )
but from what I know around here people who dont have insurance provided at work ,
most sign up with blue cross , its supose to be prety avordable and good coverage too ,
good luck

maybe all it needs is the battery changed , its a lil cell inside the puter ( i bet you guys know what I'm talking about )

Well, I am shocked! After all of the problems getting my passport application together I finally sent it off by UPS on the evening of January 17th. It was delivered to the Passport Office in Hull on January 21st at 9:30 am. I expected it would be at least mid-March before I heard anything, but this morning DHL delivered my new passport, dated January 30th! Incredible!

I don't think I got my last passport that quickly when I still lived in Canada and dropped the application off in person.

So, one less thing to worry about. I am definitely still in shock, though!

(also, I am having serious problems with my computer since yesterday so don't know how successfully I will be here for the next few days. I think we will have to break down and get a replacement!)

WOW that was fast , congrats
about your computer did you clean cookies and tempory internet files history , and run a virus scan , a spy sweaper , also my advice is run a registry cleaner ( it will fix all errors on the puter )
if you dont have one you can donload it on download.com
or pcworld.com ( there are other great sites but dont want to write a book about all the links ,lol )
my recomandations on a good registry cleaner are , eather the CCleaner , easy cleaner ( by tony arts ) , Euse free registry cleaner , or registry mechanic ( for this one you will have to pay to get the full version working ) good luck

I'm sure this is just a simple question and an even more simple answer, but I'm still half asleep and couldn't find anything on here. I have my biometrics appointment scheduled in 3 weeks for me and my son and I wanted to know what all is involved when going there. I'm guessing it is pretty painless. Do they also fingerprint my son? He's only 4 years old. Also, can my husband come to the appointment with me, or do I have to do this alone? I know I need to bring the letter for me and my son, along with our passports. Is there anything else that they didn't mention in the letter I need to bring? Thanks for any responses.

Mary

the biometric is verry painless , bring your marriage certificate with passport and of corse the letter , as to your son sorry dont know if hes goin to be fingerprinted too , but the whole thing takes aprox 15 - 20 min ,( not including the waiting time in the waitingroom )
when you enter they ask for the letter , then you have to fill out a form then they call your number ,all they do is take your 10 fingerprints ( with computer ) and your pic no stress at all very easy process , good luck smile.gif

Hi Liz . to your question about the new name , thats no problem all forms have to be filled with the name your using now ,
just bring a copy of your marriage cert when you travel .
your avidavit dont have to be notorized , ( notorization only required for the K1 process not the AOS )
hope that helps and good luck .
